Axel doesn't even get a pinfall???
It's still real to them damn it.

I hope they randomly push Curt Hawkins next. Curtis Hawkins & Curtis Axel -- "The Paul Heyman Guys?"

05-20-2013, 11:08 PM
Oooh! Are they gonna go the HBK-Owen "I was responsible for you passing out" thing? That would work...
Seriously, that's fine, but the finish of the show should have been a bit more impactful.
Wishbone
05-20-2013, 11:08 PM
Well fuck... that... I guess maybe they were trying to have a "real" ending?
SlickyTrickyDamon
05-20-2013, 11:09 PM
Wait, what? Did I miss something? Why did HHH start acting all groggy?
Cause he got destroyed to all hell yesterday and the docs said he couldn't even wrestle tonight. But he said if you don't let me fight you're fired.
Crimson
05-20-2013, 11:09 PM
They couldn't at least give little Perfect the count out win???
Wait, what? Did I miss something? Why did HHH start acting all groggy?
Because he went to WAR with BROCK LESNAR 24 hours ago.

They should have at least had Curtis Axel announced as the winner because Triple H couldn't continue.

Triple H threatens to fire the man who saved Jerry Lawlers life because he wouldn't clear him to compete. #beastar.
Mr. Nerfect
05-20-2013, 11:12 PM
But preferably, Axel should have gone for the kill and finished the legend.
Mr. Nerfect
05-20-2013, 11:13 PM

Anyway that was a pretty fucking weird ending to RAW... Think I'm gonna go watch Defiance on my DVR now if it's done. Cool hangin' with you guys in the thread for once during RAW.
He should gloat about winning anyway it's not his fault the refs are too scared of job security to issue the count.
Mr. Nerfect
05-20-2013, 11:15 PM
He should gloat about winning anyway it's not his fault the refs are too scared of job security to issue the count.
That's probably the way they will go. "Triple H protected himself but we all know what the outcome would have been..."
With Curtis Axel, Heyman now has a slimy heel that can take cheap wins and such.
Evil Vito
05-20-2013, 11:16 PM
<font color=goldenrod>From this point on I think I'm just gonna try to find the matches/segments from the few wrestlers in WWE I care about online the next day. Watching a show for 3 hours feels like such a chore when it's filled with shit like this.</font>
So the bell never rang between Ryback/Cena at Extreme Rules and now the bell never rang during Axel/HHH
The Bell is the most opportunistic, devious heel in WWE in years.

Sweet way of getting your new heel over. Have him be dominated by a dude with a "brain injury" or something, even after he really starts to show the effects.... and then don't even have him come back, just focus on the dude with the "brain injury", while your new heel just disappears.

Also, they should have given Axel some new gear, or a new haircut... something so that I don't look at him and go "Yeah. That looks EXACTLY like Michael McGillicutty".
King just needs to be let off the chain and allowed to do what he wants (within reason of course). Let him oogle divas and call Punk and his fans "Basement dwelling virgins" while casually making remarks about Fandango's sexual preferences and Ricardo and Del Rio's relationship. Essentially let him be Gertner.
Yeah, that'll work great with the Be A Star campaign.
I suggest a mankini and LOD shoulder pads.

Now they just need to bring Husky Harris back to the E as Mike Rose and team him up with Curt Axel. Axel & Rose would be in Team Curt and Mike. That would rule.

He's coming off Superstars losses in the past month against Sin Cara, Ted DiBiase and Jimmy Uso.
I doubt this was a long term plan. This push was probably thought up 20 minutes before the show started. I'd keep expectations low. lol

I am now imagining a hilarious scene of Hennig sitting backstage in catering, eating some food, getting it all stuck in his beard.... when the writers are like "GEAR UP! You're getting a push and fighting Triple H in the main event tonight!", and he just looks up with his mouth full and is like "Wha?"

Just a couple weeks ago, there was a match pitting Michael McGillicutty and JIMMY FUCKING USO and they decided "You know what... Jimmy Uso should get the win here."
And now all of a sudden they've decided he's the right choice for Paul Heyman's new guy? You can't tell me these writers know what the fuck they're doing on a week by week basis. lol This random flying by the seat of their pants thing and randomly pushing guys that have seemingly had their name drawn out of a hat has got to stop. NO ONE IS GOING TO GET OVER.
SlickyTrickyDamon
05-21-2013, 01:32 AM
Nope, this is probably all Heyman making them see straight. Joe could be a big deal if he could drop the shitty name and get on Raw. The hall is rented and now it's time to see if he can dance.
#1-norm-fan
05-21-2013, 01:39 AM
If Heyman sees something in him I hope it comes to light soon. Because I'm usually with Heyman. This doesn't make any sense though.
I can only hope he ends up just being one of a group of "Paul Heyman guys" who make a stable because if a guy like Cesaro who has some semblance of a personality and is fun to watch but desperately needs a Paul Heyman in his corner is sitting there directionless still while Hennig is getting this kind of rub, it's insane. lol

You can't see it because the WWE has done all they can for the last four years to punish him for being Mr. Perfect's son.

So yeah, the titantron said "Curt" at first and they edited it before his second entrance. You'd think a professional company would be able to figure that out a little earlier. It's Fandangoo all over again.

I was actually wondering if this is why the WWE changed it.
Mr. Nerfect
05-21-2013, 03:00 AM
They really should have just gone with calling him Joe Hennig. So what if it's the guy's real name? Are they afraid he'll get so over that he'll leave the company and bankrupt them?
Mr. Nerfect
05-21-2013, 03:02 AM
Thought: What if all this "Triple H wasn't ready" stuff is just so that they can have Triple H come out on RAW and tell McGillicutty that he'll kick his ass at the Payback PPV, where he puts over Axel for real?
#1-norm-fan
05-21-2013, 03:10 AM
I don't know. Axel still has work to do to come off as a legit threat. And Triple H needs a reason to actually want to challenge Michael McGillicutty to a match at a PPV. lol
As it stands now, McGillicutty kinda "challenged" HHH's dominance, was told to back off while the "big boys" talked, got bitchslapped to the ground and then had a quick match with him before stepping out of the way while Trips suffered some post-head injury symptoms.

Got a feeling that Tyson Kidd would have taken this spot had he not been injured. Still, this is a tasty backup.
Hanso Amore
05-21-2013, 08:11 AM
They could have really saved this angle. A the ending of the raw match another guy shows up. Fuck, let's say curt Hawkins, Cesaro, anyone.
They then double team hhh and come out on top. Heyman talks about how he never said he only had one new client.
Now squirmy dick Heyman has two henchman that went over by cheap heel tactics but still look like a threat. Make a theme of how Heyman brings out the best in the or something. Tey don't need to be a tag team but two jobbers make a better threat than one.
I dunno. Then those two can serve as fodder for Lesnar and punks feuds when they show back up.
mike adamle
05-21-2013, 08:24 AM
So what's the deal here? Are they playing up that Axel did this to Triple H? Or that these are from injuries sustained from the cage match? Because if it's the latter, I wish Brock hit him in the forehead or back of the head with the sledgehammer instead of the jaw :-\

Michael McFilibuster is fucking horrible. A solid hand in the ring suited in his current role, but he has zero personality.
#BROKEN Hasney
05-21-2013, 08:34 AM
Hence having Paul Heyman. He's the personality. I hope he gets a stable of these "solid hands" myself.
Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd and Adrian Neville would just be gravy.
Evil Vito
05-21-2013, 08:41 AM
McFilibuster is so boring that having Heyman to talk for him is irrelevant. I've seen this guy do clean jobs to basically everybody on Superstars and Saturday Morning Slam. Now I'm supposed to buy into him as the next big thing?

New theme, gear, name.
All sounds like a legit push for Perfect Jr. But like most, I think there's something more going on.
He has been wearing coloured variations of that gear since he was in OtungaCutty, doesn't really look any different from when he was jobbing to jobbers.

I watched the entire show and thought the wrestling in it was fantastic. Haven't watched in so long. I even ended up watching an old episode of Impact yesterday because I was out from work with an aggravated back injury. Kind of impressed with everything except women wrestling.

Not a single person would care about this guy if it wasn't for the whole romanticized idea that he could step into his dad's shoes and achieve the things that his dad probably deserved in his career. Can't think of a more boring person on the roster.

If it was JTG who was brought out to be the new Heyman guy everyone would be taking the piss out of it, right up until they announced he was actually the son of Rick Rude (his mother is as black as a shadow) and then people would be creaming for him to beat actual, interesting characters.

Zack Ryder's far from boring. He's a solid midcarder, he just seems to think he should be more when he probably shouldn't. He's pretty average at most things, but he's interesting enough.

You'll be left with egg on your faces when it turns out Heyman only picked him to show he can make anyone a star, makes Axel cry but turn super-face and goes so far up the card that they have no choice but to turn Cena heel.
Then Axel beats him in a Make-A-Wish Kid On A Pole Match to become the WWE champion.

So what's the deal here? Are they playing up that Axel did this to Triple H? Or that these are from injuries sustained from the cage match? Because if it's the latter, I wish Brock hit him in the forehead or back of the head with the sledgehammer instead of the jaw :-\
The Jaw is the principle point of contact for most concussions. So that is actually the WWE using real world logic for once.
Google it if you need to . But this is perfectly fine.

I didn't know little Perfect lost all those matches prior to yesterday. lol that's horrible, I agree with wwf fan about the creative team not knowing wtf they're doing on a week to week basis.
Only hope is Heyman actually picked/likes little Perfect enough to manage him. And he didn't just randomly get selected just to see if Heyman can make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

I was hoping the new acquisition would have been Cesaro, but in essence, I think Curtis Axel could use it more. He's a good worker, like Cesaro. He has a better pedigree with the family and was trained by Harley fucking Race. Cesaro could easily be another Heyman guy coming soon, or he could probably get by with something as simple as a face turn.
Now all we need if for DiBiase to be brought into the fold.

I have to say, as much as I'm not a huge fan of The Shield as main event caliber guys, I'm glad WWE is pushing some guys to the point where their TV matches actually matter.
One reason why sitting and actually watching Raw is impossible is because it's just a bunch of thrown together matches with meaningless outcomes. One guy can squash someone one week and then when the guy they squashed is getting pushed, he can turn right back around the next month and squash the guy who squashed him. It's why no one gets over anymore.
I like that The Shield has been consistently booked as a force for a while without any dips now though. I still don't see main event potential in them and wish part of their push wasn't at the expense of a guy like Ryback. And their reasoning for doing some of the shit they do it retarded. But they can compete in a match with no titles on the line and the outcome is a big deal. I'm actually invested in how their match turns out. That's something WWE has failed to do for a long time and I wish they'd figure it out with everyone.

05-21-2013, 08:24 PM
I think the outcomes of matches matter. So yes, wins and losses do factor into credibility. See: The Shield.
WWE likes to make guys lose to build up credibility for their latest project. And that project usually fails. And both guys end up looking like shit. Putting Axel over guys who already have something going for them right now only serves to make them look worse when Axel fails and starts jobbing again in a couple months. It takes a shitload of time to build credibility and jobbing out your somewhat established guys to a guy like Axel is a good way to continue the trend of everyone being muddled in the middle of the card and no one being really over for good.
Mr. Nerfect
05-21-2013, 09:06 PM
I do see what you're saying, fan, but in essence you'll be sacrificing the potential of the heel act that is Curtis Axel by not doing something with him. Daniel Bryan is my favourite in the WWE bar none, which is why he is the perfect man to make Axel look good. He'll give him a good outing, will look amazing in losing, and since Bryan and Kane are probably still going to be going after the Tag Team Championship, Bryan's singles career isn't top priority right now (it will be after The Shield beat them again).
Kofi Kingston is another guy that could feud with Axel in the short-term. Kingston has nothing really going on and there is that history there between the two. Heyman could line Kingston up as an opponent because it would represent Axel rising above his former mentor.

You know this isn't as far-fetched as the last sentence makes it seem. Heyman dumping Axel and then Curtis turning face and feuding with a new Heyman associate (Antonio Cesaro) could potentially get the two of them over. McGillicutty worked quite nicely as a babyface on NXT Season 2 (probably the best work of his career next to his recent NXT stuff).

Not sure what people think of the guy, since a lot of people try to act too cool for people who are actually in the biz, but Lance Storm is in support of Curt Axel. I appreciate Storm's insight. He always seemed like a guy who knew what was meant to happen, when and how, and never cried foul that he never got a huge push. He seems to understand what he was the the industry and continues to give to it in his own way.
So, yeah, fuck you Hennig haters.

On the topic of Randy Orton: I can see him continuing to build momentum and eventually challenge Dolph Ziggler for the World Heavyweight Title. Orton seems too big to be in a MITB Ladder Match this year, so maybe they will have Ziggler vs. Orton as the World Title match. A victory for Ziggler there would be great for him. He wouldn't have even gotten a shot if it weren't for the fact he's Hennig's son. There's nothing special about him at all.
A similar argument was made for people like Cody Rhodes and Husky Harris, you know. Since then, people complained Cody being thrown into a random tag team with Sandow asas a demotion and there is outcry for THE TALENTED ROTUNDA (read: NOT Bo) to be called up to the main roster doing the Bray Wyatt thing.
Not everybody needs to be flashy with the personality, and at least now they are kind of not running away from him being Perfect's kid (this is a long way from Just Joe).

I don't know how I'd feel about Wyatt being the Heyman guy. He's just so good at his character, he should let it form on his own. A manager, even one as good as Heyman, doesn't fit with the gimmick. He's a cult leader. He doesn't need anyone to lead him.
As for Cody... well I'm just not a fan of his outside the "disfigured" gimmick. He's horribly generic. The most the guy has to separate him from the pack of average sized, average weight, boring personality guys on the roster is that he now has a mustache.

Cody Rhodes is pretty fucking good. His mustache was as over as Ryder on RAW. He's always doing something that is cool. He's in a slump at the moment because there isn't much for him to do. If they turn Wade Barrett face, I'd actually like to see a Barrett vs. Rhodes feud. Barrett could cut some pretty good promos about disfiguring Rhodes and making him whinge about it for half a year again.
Since he seems to be moving away from Fandango, Chris Jericho vs. Curtis Axel could be a pretty interesting rivalry, especially since Jericho could explain what it means to be a Paul Heyman Guy first-hand. They had Jericho lose due to a tweaked knee against Fandango, but a clean victory for Axel over Jericho would really get people talking.
Another thing they could do is have Paul Heyman and Curtis Axel cut an in-ring promo on RAW. Heyman can say that he didn't expect Curtis Axel to become an overnight sensation, but this guy is even better than even he gave him credit for, because he put the nail in the coffin on Triple H's career. Stephanie McMahon can then make a rare RAW appearance and address "Joe" about what he did last week. Axel grew up in the business, and so did Steph -- you could perhaps reference some sort of "past" between the two. Childhood friends? Perhaps even a romantic link? Maybe you could have it revealed that Triple H and Steph kept Axel around for years because of this past shared between him and Steph? Anyway, you can have Stephanie ask Curtis "Is this how you wanted to make it? With Paul Heyman? After everything he's put my dad through? After everything he's put me and the kids through?" And then Axel can say "Steph, sweetie -- I don't give a damn about your dad; I don't give a damn about your husband; I don't give a damn about you; and I sure as hell don't give a damn about your kids!" Then you cue a babyface like Jericho coming out for the save and shifting focus to in-ring action for later.

Next week RAW is apparently having a Bret Hart appreciation night after the show.... but since Bret Hart is a religion in Canada, they will actually be airing it in Canada live. Seems like the first time they have done something like that.

Yeah, it's gonna be on The Score. Let's hope Bret doesn't get a live mic.

If Axel came out with a slightly tweaked titantron (something sparkly and more "Perfect" -- maybe a pyro shower), new ring gear (something colorful that shows him off to be a bit of a tosser), and did a gum spit and catch (or something where he spits the gum and then doesn't care to catch it), cut that promo with Heyman and then beat Chris Jericho in a 15+ minute match with the Perfect Plex? I think things would begin to click for the guy. Oh, and put him in a Triple H shirt just for that promo to make him look like a real dick.

Think they could actually do something huge with this. Bret apparently can't do anything physical, but I could see some heel punking out Bret and setting something up with someone. Might even be Curtis Axel. When is Tyson Kidd ready to return? I don't think he's medically cleared, but a heelish kicking out of his crutches could lead to something with someone down the track.

Except for the fact that only Canadians would see it

Would be pretty "crazy" if they did an exclusive "Canadian" angle after RAW each week.

Tyson Kidd gets back at Christian for taking Natalya out to a nice seafood dinner and never calling her gain!

Tyson Kidd does a sweet blockbuster, I don't remember whether he's in WWE 13 or not, but I may load it up and give him a year long IC title reign, and a custom belt too, woooooo!

Glad Ryder changed his tights, his push me ones were pretty gay if you think about it.

They could just recap it on SmackDown/the following Raw.

he was chewing gum on raw i was ready for him to spit it out, the writers could make him a bad ass heel, he could be as good as cody.

Perfect didn't catch the gum, he swatted it away (a bad habit I picked up, incidentally). He tossed his hand towel behind his back and caught it. Unless you're saying Axel should do the opposite: catch his gum and swat a hand towel into the crowd. Bonus points if its pre-autographed.
