Cena was indeed better in the exchange. Bryan seemed to ignore everything Cena said to him when he said his second piece.

Didn't buy Bryan on the microphone tonight. Something seemed off about it, or Cena was 100 x better. Could be the latter.

They were both great.
Show's back. And ZERO reaction.
The fuck are you talking about? The crowd was going nuts.

Yeah and it also helps that most of Cena's actual attack was WWE Universe and Make a Wish related. Bryan couldn't really go after that without attacking the crowd which is why he went straight back to the respect card.
Think only the Rock and CM Punk have actually gone after that type of stuff without making it look like an attack on the crowd.

either way, it's not as though bryan wrote the script. he did a good job delivering what he was given to work with. cena was on point tonight, too. brought just the right amount of intensity.

I thought that Bryan/Cena promo was pretty lame
I'm a pretty negative person though.

You rarely get to be in a situation where you can photobomb yourself.

All I do is make grunting sounds and say involuntary things like "have mercy" or "she's a real person" or "she exists in real life" while Kaitlyn or AJ are in the ring.
Stop.

I love how Miz started out being awful and was relegated to being the Host of Smackdown. Now, he's completely awful and relegated to being the Host of Summerslam.

I think Punk vs Heyman/Lesnar's promo's are still a level above anyone else's but the Bryan/Cena promo was really good. I hate that Cena always pulls the Make A Wish as a defense. Kinda lame because that can't be touched. Cena always uses those kinds of things that a person can't attack and it reduces what they can use on Cena. Bryan did his best and Bryan came off as good as possible considering he couldn't attack Cena on multiple areas that he used in his promo.
I hope Bryan doesn't turn heel because that would turn the WWE right back into what it was. It's time to move forward. Give Bryan a chance to get over as champion. Have Maddox, Vince, and others try to screw Bryan but since turning Cena heel isn't an option, maybe have him do what he did at MITB 11 or maybe Triple H turns on Bryan. Remember back when Vince played up being a face during the Corporate Ministry feud then turned by being the higher power only to turn back in early 2000 by taking out Shane, then turning at WM2000. Heck, Shane in 98 siding with Austin before screwing him at Deadly Games. That's what Mcmahons do. Sorry, someone on Youtube uploaded an assload of Raw's from 97-2000 and I've been reliving them. At least it's not predictable like MITB...except for Orton winning.

Would have loved to see Bryan rip Make-a-Wish cancer kids in their dueling promo. Anyway, show was ok. Looking forward to Summerslam.

Bryan should have brought up the Kid who's wish he granted in Pittsburgh last December. How he does it for no fan fare unlike Cena just did in the promo. That would be have amazing.

I think the whole "Make A Wish" thing is such a cop out. Dick Cheney is the biggest asshole in the world, depending on who you ask. He doesn't walk around kicking puppies and slapping babies out their mother's hands.
You do good things for the kids, good for you. You still come off as a Frat Boy Douche Bro.

I think it's great for the kids and all, but the Make a Wish stuff is just so over the top. It might be great PR, but if they actually think it's bringing in anymore eyes or buys to the product, they're fools.
I think it was pretty weak for Cena to use it in a promo like he did last night. I liked the idea that someone else brought up about Bryan mentioning he doesn't gloat about his Make a Wish appearances. I mean, what else exactly could Bryan have said. Stuff like that hurts the product.
I'm sure they mean well, but stuff like that make it seem like Cena & WWE are just doing the Make a Wish stuff to feed their own egos.

Cena using the Make a Wish to get cheers was pretty shitheaded.
Lock Jaw
08-13-2013, 02:16 PM
It's one of the only ways for him to actually get cheered because after he brings it up people have no choice but to be like "Well..... damn. How am I supposed to boo him now?"

But seriously, what the fuck does that whole "I'm a wrestler and you're not" thing mean from a character standpoint? It's retarded. I'm glad Cena basically just said "I've WRESTLED all around the world for 11 years, you dumb shit."
Nark Order
08-13-2013, 06:23 PM
Well, I guess the premise was that Cena isnt really a "wrestler" because he doesn't put a ton of emphasis on the "wrestling" aspect of sports entertainment. Its most definitely pretty smarky but Bryan knows his demographic for sure. His promos should be a bit smarky, IMO.
