Nice. Still have yet to find TNTs on my Doctor, but I've never played a traditional pet build that required them so it hasn't been a huge deal for me.

Currently wearing like 3 diff sets, feel like a mutt

It seems like the drop rate for the RORG is higher now as I have now done 20 act 1 bounties and have yet to get one to come out the cache for my season DH since the one on my season Barb isn't that bad, just with the strength was higher as it's pretty low.

I annoyingly got a lvl 29 RORG on a guy I was dicking around with, made me so mad. (I had a lvl 70 ancient wep with -37 lvl requirement so wanted to try it for the lulz) Still have only had one drop on my main guy, thankfully the rolls have been good

Thinking of dropping my Enforcer gem and picking up Pain Enhancer. Enforcer seems to scale really poorly, and the lvl 25 PE bonus (3% IAS per bleeding target) seems pretty hot. Dunno. Have to test this ish out

Finally got me an SMK last night

...DoD better for dart build though...

Tried using the SMK, and while 100% uptime on FA (without zuni) and BBV is nice, the killing still feels way slower because you're only really hitting a single target at a time. Rift Guardian times are faster but everything else dies so much slower, including elite packs which in turn are much more dangerous now because they're up for so much longer.

May use the SMK and the Mask of Jeram I've gotten and make another WD, traditional pet build though. Then I still have my full Jade set too I wanna use. And I wanna try my hand at a Tiki doc. Gonna just have like 8 Witch Doctors of diff builds

drave
01-27-2015, 08:22 AM
I am at a point of trade off with mine. With Carnevil + SMK and the uptime of FA + BBV, single targets melt faster than a group AOE would be. Only real problem comes with Avengers if they have other affixes that make life difficult.

Honestly, need to attain a better understanding of WD. I have logged the least amount of hours on that char.

Dark-Slicer Diago
01-27-2015, 08:24 AM
Witch Doctor is easily your favourite class then I take it lol.

road doggy dogg
01-27-2015, 08:25 AM
Try using the SMK with a traditional pet build. Instead of Carnevil go with a Mask of Jeram and Tasker and Theo gloves, take Physical dmg instead of Poison, just stand back and let your minions do the slaying \m/ for you

I prefer the Carnevil playstyle more though... but Dagger of Darts is pretty much required to play with it IMO at higher GRfits

Guy sounds mad cocky/arrogant but has no reason to be. Total superiority complex. "IF THEY COULD SEE ME NOW!!!!!!!!" any time you kill 6 monsters.

Dark-Slicer Diago
01-27-2015, 08:37 AM
I think that Wizards are sorta crap, I'm mean I liked it when I first played one but to me without the Firebird set they can't really deal enough damage solo. My dads WD has Tasker and Theo and Mask Of Jeram, makes life easier in group play, but you're right about Dagger Of Darts being necessary for a Carnevil build. I think for the next season I'll either be a Monk or Demon Hunter, DH with the 6 piece bonus of Marauder is pretty strong and with Kridershot(legendary bonus of Elemental Arrow generating hated instead of costing it) and the Bombardier's Rucksack(allows 2 extra sentries) that just makes it more powerful.

road doggy dogg
01-27-2015, 08:43 AM
Oh yeah, SMK build definitely more group-friendly. My buddy plays a Tikidoc which is kind of the modified zPDS build which is incredible for groups. Everything is locked down and everyone can just nuke frozen bad guys. It's great.

I'm excited for season 2. I wanna get that leveling gem and basically get a 70 of everything within a week haha

My monk is pretty fun. I have the head piece that causes Wave of Light to be cast on the opponent. I use the rune that causes WoL to be a pillar and drop pillars on faces all day. Pretty fun but simple. Still have my oh shit buttons for elites that just won't quit. Still havent replaced my level 60 bonesabre on that char.

Dark-Slicer Diago
01-29-2015, 08:51 AM
Not really much of a point now anyway with the season being just about over. The only thing I really hate has to do with my luck in the RNG, I got a pretty good Furnace at paragon 250(my only one to drop at that, while in a game with my dad who was the one to actually get the drop) and my SHIT luck as I've never even seen The Witching Hour, blew 1500 blood shards on only belts and haven't gotten it, only get yellows, blues and Vigilant/Sebor's and a few other legendary belts but always those same ones.

road doggy dogg
01-29-2015, 09:11 AM
I've got a really good WH, not perfect but damn near close for my needs:

41% CHD
5% IAS
15% life
468 int (was my reroll)

Ideally I'd like to have +skill% instead of 15% life but I suppose I can't go full glass cannon... the CHD is near perfect, would've liked a 7% IAS but whaddaya gonna do

road doggy dogg
01-29-2015, 09:18 AM
Also took off my Ice Climbers and Tasker and Theo gloves... was hoping the defensive boost of the IC would be worth losing a bit of offensive stats (the Taskers don't help dart build much at all), but having my attacks dip below 2.5/second made me feel really slow. Went back to Cain's set. Such a simple easily craftable set that is very strong.

Dark-Slicer Diago
01-30-2015, 07:59 AM
I used Cain's a lot myself for awhile, for lower levels or new 70s it's really good until you get better gear.

road doggy dogg
02-02-2015, 12:16 AM
Hit paragon level 400 tonight. Cool. Can completely fill two stats per category now.

Still getting super frustrated at trying to get higher greater rift levels. 36 appears to be my cap. May try out Jade again once my season WD is in the normal pool of heroes (hate swapping gear/skills constantly on one char), but I don't know. May try out a Tiki build as well, my buddy just finished a 38 using his.

Might just say eff it and try my Barb out. Or just stop playing since this game is making me rage more than give me enjoyment lately. Bad sign.

Mostly just as a result of trying to push the higher-end stuff. It gets maddening when every affix on elite packs one-shots you, and you die to things that you fully expected to not be hit by. It's like new-age Contra shit.

A lot of it is avoidable, which makes the frustration element on the player much higher because you think, "Well shit, if I just dodged that Thunderstorm I'd have been fine, RAAAAAAAAAAAAHFDSLG" etc.

The approach I've taken is to make my Enchantress as much a CC-bot as possible. Have all her CC abilities used, as well as an Azurewrath (~25% chance to freeze on hit) with damage rerolled to Lightning; Wyrdward ring and Dovu amulet (lightning damage stuns + increased stun duration), and IAS/CDR rolls on every slot possible. Oculus Ring with double-IAS roll for 15%IAS. She's basically a machine-gun crowd control fiend. Have the "cannot die" relic on her, though I opted out of using the double Unity because it feels like bad habit-forming move than anything (after a certain level it cannot save you from being one-shot)

Works out remarkably well. Can really lock down lots of enemies while I also have my 35% stun per attack (and attacking at ~2.5x/second) that pierces. Not quite as good as a Tiki doc but I prefer the dart playstyle much more anyway

Even though I've been playing Monk pretty exclusively lately, I'm really excited about the minor WD changes. Upping the proc rate on Fetish Sycophants is gravy, and the new Zuni 6pc looks interesting. I've been running Wave of Mutilation instead of Piranhado lately (8s cooldown vs 16s) so that 100% dmg buff uptime should be relatively easy to maintain. Great for Dart Doc since we don't get the 100% buff from Mask of Jeram.

I really want to like my Crusader.... just finding it difficult/boring. Only effective build for me ATM is stupid Hammers/Phalanx(Horses which hit hard as FOOK), Akarat's. The rest of the skills aren't really that important.

I want a viable shield bash//sweep attack rune. The Crusader is a fucking armored fortress, they should be all up in there smashing the shit outta shit like a Barb.

I don't research builds though, so I am sure there is one that is "decent", but it will be hard to top Phalanx damage.

Having problems with my Crusader atm. I'm kind of a retard when it comes to builds and I am at the point right now where T1 is a cakewalk but my sheet damage of 310k makes so tedious. Is it worth taking a 1000vit hit to my health to try and get a socket in my weapon or just keep on grinding?

I don't really know anything about Crusaders (literally have 0 mins played on the class) so I don't know the ins and outs or anything, but generally for weapons you want as much damage affixes as possible. It looks like you've already used a reroll on the LPH so you couldn't roll the Vit off anyway.

Generally speaking, sockets do tend to be the highest damage increase on a weapon for rerolls. I'd recommend rolling the LPH off for a socket, until you find a http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/ramaladnis-gift (which adds a socket), in which case I would then reroll the innate socket for 10% damage (or 10% CDR, if that helps your build more) and then Gift it and bam off to the races

02-27-2015, 08:38 AM

I use something similar to this.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/crusader#UeYPfQ!afgY!ZbbbYY

Phalanx does a shit ton of damage with this. Couple it with a 10 second law (thanks to long arm of the law) that reduces the cost to next to nothing, and you should be able to take down most elites and rift guardians quite easily. Not a HUGE fan of Hammers, but they seem to do the most damage for me at the moment. Shield Gaze is great for regenerating wrath in addition to a little CC. Rightneousness gives you a bigger wrath pool for the wrath hungry Phalanx if you forget or your law is on cooldown. Change a few passives//secondary to what works best for your playstyle. Primary damage dealer will be Phalanx in this build.

Not sure how the key layout works on PC, I play on Xbox One. Anyway, I'll load it up and get my exact build/gear. I can run T3 with little effort. Some of your gear needs upgrading, but that comes with time - especially being seasonal.

If you aren't having survival issues, definitely replace your gems with rubies and diamond/amethyst in your helm.

Amulet - The Traveler's Pledge

Bracers - Reaper's Wraps (helps with wrath regen for Phalanx spam)

Shield - Ancient Legendary Ivory Tower socketed with Ruby

Rings - Royal Ring of Grandeur and Compass rose (socketed with legendary IAS gem)

Potion Mod - Bottomless Potion of the Tower

Boots - Ice Climbers (new ones, not pre-2.1 - gives immunity to freeze and immobilize effects)

cracking down on "permanant invincibility" builds with CDR and stuff

Source (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/16412042152?page=2#22)

(funny coincidence that the Blue quoted a poster named Heisenberg)

I see perma-serenity w/ Zodiac pushing Team ICE up a few notches.

It’s interesting that you mention permanent Serenity uptime.

The concept of permanent immunity has actually been on our radar since we introduced Cooldown Reduction in Reaper of Souls. Since then, we’ve seen many players who have been able to skirt the edges of permanent immunity using this affix. Frankly, we think that’s awesome, since we love it that players can customize their characters in different ways.

While it’s our goal for CDR to be a desirable affix, and while we’re okay with players greatly reducing the cooldown of their immunity skills, we also want to avoid a scenario where permanent immunity is possible. For instance, in patch 2.1.2, we put a cooldown on Smoke Screen to mitigate permanent immunity builds for the Demon Hunter so that you couldn’t chain this skill back-to-back.

Starting in the next PTR patch, we’ll be applying this philosophy to the following immunity skills.

Spirit Walk
Serenity
Smoke Screen
Laws of Hope – Stop Time

With this, the cooldowns on these skills will begin after their buff ends. To minimize negatively impacting the normal use case for these skills, we’re lowering the cooldown time to compensate – for example, Serenity is going from a 20 second cooldown that starts on activation, to a 16 second cooldown that starts when Serenity ends.

Previously, we may have decided against adding an item power to the game that might lead to permanent invulnerability. However, with these new changes, we’ll have much more freedom in designing new and powerful items, since there will be a stop gap to ensure that permanent invincibility is no longer a concern.

We wanted to let you all know about the above changes in advance, so that you’ll be prepared for them in the next PTR patch. I'll be eager to hear everyone's thoughts once these changes actually go into effect.

Will suck for Witch Doctor, especially Jade builds that rely on SW'ing in, harvesting, and getting the cooldown reduction from Grave Injustice to reduce SW cooldown... poopy

drave
03-03-2015, 10:08 AM
Meh, just takes a more strategic approach. Hell, with new Ice Climbers + Countess Julia's ammy, you have NEAR invulnerability from the biggest threats most champs have anyway. As it stands, my barb cannot be rooted at all and gets healed by arcane beams.

The only imminently dangerous affix (that comes to mind) is thorns. Molten isn't a threat until it goes boom, and can be avoided with leap, sprint, WW, furious charge, etc.

I think the reason why perma- or near-perma-invincibility is popular is for 50+ GRs where everything basically one-shots you, regardless of attack type

drave
03-03-2015, 10:11 AM
Yep. And in those cases, it comes down to bad game mechanics. I know they made a dev post about it a few weeks ago, but c'mon. The only way to stop player progress is by inflating stats so high it is impossible to survive..... cheap/lazy way out IMO.

Season 2 will end April 5th

Patch 2.2 will go live April 7th

Season 3 will begin April 10th

At least that is the tentative plan.

Pretty pumped for it. Lots of good stuff coming this patch. Sucks that Jade build is useless now with the Spirit Walk nerf but I've enjoyed the Dart build much more anyway.

Might try my hand at Hardcore for season 3. 50/50 on the idea

2.3 patch sounds like it's adding some really cool stuff. A new item called Kanai's Cube is being added... very similar to Horadric Cube from D2. From the sounds of it, you can basically extract legendary affixes from items and use them as passives? Or something. Idk. Sounds fucking sweet.

Getting rid of Rift Trials as well. And more Torment levels. Sweet.

drave
06-25-2015, 03:04 PM
Yea, passive affixes are fucking sweet. Gonna boot this up on XBone again. When is the patch?

drave
06-25-2015, 03:09 PM
Kanai's Cube is apparently found in the lost Tomb of King Kanai, one of the locations in the "frozen wasteland" of the Ruins of Sescheron, the upcoming new zone, which will also shine light on some "new mysteries from the lore of the mighty Barbarians." The Cube can break down Legendary items, enabling players to equip their special effects as passive skills (separate from their regular passives), converts crafting materials from one type to another, and does "so much more."
The update will also remove the Realm of Trials, a change that first came to light back in April (http://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-is-removing-rift-trials-from-diablo-3/), and improve Bounty rewards "by adding new Act-specific crafting mats to Horadric Caches." I have no idea what that means, but completing Bonus Acts in Adventure mode will now grant a bonus Horadric Cache with crafting materials, gold, and Act-specific crafting mats.
The new difficulty levels will let high-level players take the game all the way to Torment X, and there's also a new Season Journey feature that tracks individual player progress through Chapters and, for more advanced players, Tiers that unlock new portrait frame rewards and challenges. There are also new Legendary and Set items, and various changes to combat balance.
It's a big update by any measure, and while there's still no release date, Blizzard said its appearance on the Public Test Realm is "right around the corner." Get all the details at Battle.net (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/19802338)

Lots of new shit coming out this patch. Have you played since they introduced Ancient Legendaries? Not sure which patch/season that came out during. But basically they are Legendaries that have a chance to roll as Ancient, with 30% more stats. Pretty beefy.

This patch alone comes with an item very similar to the Horadric Cube (D-D-D-D-D-DECKARD CAIN) from D2, and with that you can take the legendary power from any item and add it to another. You can have one weapon, armor, and jewelry power added to your gear, which can really make some massive build improvements. Super exciting stuff

I think I just need to salvage everything. The worry always is though, "What if I'm trying out a new build and [item X] is crucial to that and I need to refarm it!?"

but now with the cube recipes it's relatively easy to target a specific legendary you want and attain it with little issue

Certain "super-rare" items I'm tempted to keep around though... i.e. an ancient Furnace etc (even though I have the power cubed...)

Yeah season is a "fresh start", you basically act as if it's a fresh account for all intents and purposes; no stash, no gold, no paragon, nada.

road doggy dogg
01-18-2016, 08:47 AM
So basically, yeah, pretty bad.

Granted, 2.4 introduced a free 6-piece set for meeting certain milestones. i.e. once you hit 70 you get two pieces, then another 2 for doing something else etc... the free set makes it very easy to quickly farm Torment VI or so rifts in decent time. So what I've been doing all weekend was watching NFL playoffs while mindlessly doing some rifts. Figure you get about 3-4 paragon levels a pop @ about 5-8 minutes per rift, makes a bit more sense. Still pretty awful though. But I went out socializing Friday night so suck it @ everyone

All lvl 70 legendaries have a chance to roll as "ancient". You can tell if it's ancient because the item tooltip will have a gold border. Also in the chat:

[Heisenberg] looted: [Stone of Jordan]

[Heisenberg] looted: {Stone of Jordan}

the { } will be if it's ancient..

Anyway ancient armor items have 30% more base stats (Int/Str/Agi). For some items that is pretty useful (helms for example can roll 1000 mainstat max instead of 750) but for some it's pretty meh

Weapons though can roll 30% more damage values though which is much nicer. ~3k DPS 1h weapons vs 2k is a huge jump

Heisenberg

Oh, I thought it had something to do with the cube stuff. Now I have a mission to get some ancient piss

road doggy dogg

Yeah they're basically just incremental upgrades to further progress your gear.

Basically, if you took your entire gear set (all 14 or w/e slots), and each piece was made ancient with all other factors considered equal, you should theoretically have a 30% DPS increase

Heisenberg
05-06-2016, 09:46 AM

Best used on items that are expensive to gamble, like Amulets, or to hunt for specific legendary weapons, such as two-handed maces to attempt to create The Furnace.

Is there something in particular you can do to farm Puzzle Rings?

If you're ever on and we get a ring we'll definitely take you along! It's like a free 110 million gold each time, not counting all the gems you can stash and Legends/Sets falling from the sky on Torment X.

We have to bump the Torment down to IX for the boss tho,,,,,sad face

Oh, I know about the cube. I was just wondering if you were doing something like farming a specific act in campaign mode or something.

And, I may be able to solo Greed on TX, even with a 3-4 player adjustment.

Got my Demon Hunter running Torment X. He wasn't the FIRST GUY to get the 6 piece in the bags, he wasn't the LAST GUY to be leveled, he is the GUY.

Anyways, I am pretty much one shotting elites all over the place with my set bonus boosting my Impale. It's a melee build with Bolos to keep my hatred up.
