How has this thread degenerated into CyNick vs. The World/Logic in a handicap match? Are the guys on the podcast gonna read all this out?

The Rock and Triple H both saw something in Curtis Axel. It hasn't come to forefront yet, but I really hope it does. He's a good carpenter that might not ever get to the main event level, but he's got a place. Love the guy's selling, intensity and trash-talking.
He's a guy that I'd like to see an E60/Breaking Ground type special on. I want reasons to like Axel and feel like I know him, because as he stands, he's just a guy in wrestling trunks playing Superstar right now. Axel might be missing charisma, but I feel that there is some sort of presentation road-block the WWE are facing with him.
At the very worst, he could make a great in-ring component to a heel faction -- whether it's him being "found" by Bray Wyatt, or joining up with The Authority's next "Corporate Champion." There's no reason Axel can't do what Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury did earlier this year.

I have a feeling that the podcast has already been recorded, but WrestleMania IX would have pissed me off to no end as a young wrestling fan, if I was watching at the time. It might have even destroyed my fandom.

Lol of course they didn't. If CyNick wants to argue then we can argue. It's just banter at the end of the day. I don't think anyone has anything serious riding in the constant back and forth. Except Curtis Axel fans.

In all seriousness, Curtis Axel jumped the shark when Punk and Heyman started feuding.

Yeah, really wish they would have kept Ryback out of that. It hurt both Ryback and Axel in the long term and Ryback is now staring to recover. Always wanted Paul to bring the Dangerous Alliance to the WWE. Could have Brock as their main guy and when he's there shits about to get dangerous. Axel and Cesaro would be great since they already have history with Paul. Then have Paul take a guy from NXT to finish out the group like Samoa Joe or Barron Corbin.
Mr. Nerfect
11-14-2015, 08:28 PM
Something like that would be cool. I think a Camp Heyman would certainly help out guys like Axel and Cesaro by putting them over as training partners for Brock. I can see the allure in having Brock be an island all unto himself however.

Heyman managing Asuka needs to happen.
Simple Fan
11-14-2015, 08:48 PM
I could get behind that. They should use Heymen more but without all the Brock talk. That's what killed his time with Cesaro. If he was to bring in a new Dangerous Alliance I wouldn't want the focus to be about Brock. Best thing would be to build up Cesaro with Paul and eventuay lead to a Cesaro/Leaner match where Paul would have to decide who he was backing.
Mr. Nerfect
11-15-2015, 12:34 AM
That should have been the plan. I remember thinking the Cesaro/Heyman pairing was brilliant. Cesaro was actually on the rise, unlike Curtis Axel when he was repackaged, and him selling out Zeb to move up made it feel like having Heyman in your corner meant something -- and it added some personality depth to Cesaro. It also took Brock breaking the streak and sort of transmitted that heat, via Heyman, into Cesaro's presentation. At first. Then Paul just started talking about Brock whenever Cesaro and himself were out there.
Cesaro should have had a one-on-one match with Jack Swagger at Extreme Rules '14. I guess they felt they needed to have Rob Van Dam in there for the pure babyface element, but the personal issues between Cesaro and Swagger didn't need it. Cesaro should have won that match cleanly, moved onwards and upwards from The Real Americans. Sheamus was a good choice for a Cesaro opponent in Chicago, because it would have allowed Cesaro to remain heel and still be cheered against a guy whose direction at the time wouldn't have suffered for it. But then they somewhat randomly placed the US Title on Sheamus and they needed to put him over at Payback. Ugh.
And, if you ask me, Cesaro would have been a wonderful choice to win Money in the Bank last year. Rollins was not bad, don't get me wrong, and it adds to the idea of him selling out and joining The Authority, but Cesaro was on the rise as a singles act, whereas Rollins was just stepping out on his own. Blood feuds with Ambrose and Reigns could have sold themselves and didn't need to happen. Plus, I think some mid-card reigns with the IC and US Titles would have had a benefit for each guy from The Shield.
Hell, it's arguable that The Shield shouldn't have been broken up at all. Issues with The Wyatt Family could have easily been played out heading into a huge SummerSlam blow-off between them, and The Shield was close to becoming an attraction on its own as a unit. Later in the year you had The New Day forming, so you could have continued a trend of awesome six-man tags there. Whatever.
And I still maintain that Cesaro should have been Cena's WrestleMania opponent this year. The chemistry between those two is phenomenal, and Rusev could have been featured elsewhere -- perhaps even winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
I want to thank everybody for the contributions, we got to read many of them on the show, which is now available at the following link:

I would argue that an argument isn't necessarily arguing.
Of course.
We're making ARGUMENTS using facts, data, logic and reasoning. I.e., "The QUALITY of the writing/product is down, as shown by the decrease in television ratings, a decrease in live attendance and revenues, and a disappointing and substantially lower than expected television licensing revenue deal."
You're ARGUING using your emotions, opinions, suppositions, etc. I.e., "The QUALITY of the writing/product is fine because I'm enjoying it, plus revenues overall should increase to record levels this year due to the quality of the product but not as a result of the company expanding into more revenue streams than ever before the last few years."

Have I ever said ratings are up?
However, in your spin you managed to miss some points. WWE tries to deliver ratings in order to raise TV rights fees. They may not have got as much as they wanted (as Mr Burns said I would trade it all away for a little more), but their TV rights fees have never been higher. Context is always important. Ratings are down for most of TV, this is a trend that will not likely reverse, its the nature of changing habits of viewers. WWE is most weeks the 2nd or 3rd most viewed things on cable on Monday nights, one of the highest rated things on social media, WWE has more Network subs than they did this time last year, and best of all OVERALL REVENUES ARE UP! They could actually have their BIGGEST REVENUE GENERATING YEAR OF ALL TIME. Yes, this is partly due to additional revenue streams, but its also because they turned a dying revenue stream (PPV) and turned it into a rapidly growing revenue stream (VOD). Some would call that smart business moves, you call it, what? Failure. Cool.
None of that is emotion BTW.

I said you didn't back up your arguments with facts in another thread and even challenged/practically begged you to do so.
You replied with what pretty much amounted to "I did though!" despite the fact that the thread clearly showed to anyone with half a brain that you didn't.
So clearly that doesn't register with you.
So telling you how ridiculous you are in the most condescending way possible is really all people are left with.
