Yeah I'd need some sort of concrete proof to buy that. If it was that bad, why would wb give him batgirl?

The link contains portions of the script he was working on at the time although to be fair a bit, the script itself is from over a decade ago. He was working on a Batman script during the same time that also got rejected/ignored for Batman Begins instead.
Whedon also pitched a screenplay to adapt Batman for the same company as development started on what would eventually become Batman Begins. It was described as having included a new, "more of a 'Hannibal Lecter' type" villain, and portrayed Bruce Wayne as "a morbid, death-obsessed kid" whose grief was overcome by protecting a girl from being bullied in an alley similar to where his parents were murdered
Either his vision for comic films changed a lot during the past decade or the script for Batgirl isn't character-destroying terrible which is why Warner Bros is comfortable with it.

I think this is the best DC movie by far, but I think the film needed more to be great rather than just good. The whole starting section was kinda dopey, and I think you could have ditched a lot of it and had a tighter film. The dramatic loops didn't really tie up, and I suppose you have a Wonder Woman character who will be dramatically different in other stories than this one. I don't think she needed to be quite so much of a naive idiot. Still, a big improvement on the two messy Superman films.
Wonder Woman is 4 million away from knocking off Spider-Man (2002) for most highest grossing (Domestic) superhero flick of all-time. The movie made 3 million this weekend so by this time next week it is likely to have happened.

Is it still on wide release in the States? The 2 biggest chains only have it playing in 2 theatres (both in London) here.

Anyone willing to sue them over it is just desperate for attention and also hoping that they will get something good.
Basically the same type of people who have made it so that we now need "obvious" warnings on things like "Caution: Hot" on hot beverages........

It is in this case. A small inconsequential thing that no one should get bent out of shape over.
This is the last I'll say on the matter as I am not looking to reignite this debate, in which I believe only slik and I were on the right side.

Lock Jaw your response to this potential lawsuit simply would not exist in reverse. There is a case and it would be an easy win. Talking about how many men were leading comic movies is not even close to a viable legal defense. Somebody's getting a payday.
And again; the actual event is benign. But the principle, the inconsistencies, must be put on notice to prevent discriminate precedents set in the future. If it wouldn't fly for one race or gender, then it doesn't fly at all. Ever.
And best they get message across before they try this shit with Black Panther.

Adjusting for inflation 1978s Sperman is by a wide margin ($1,789,662,782 [most succesful super hero film of all time {origin or not} for those playing at home.]) 2000's Spider-Man and 2008's Iron Man also beat it.

In any case WW debuting on the big screen in a struggling DCEU against a juggernaut of a rival studio did very well and it doesn't need to break records to make a statement for her side.

I don't think movies really aired on television after being in the theater until the advent of cable in the 80's/HBO.

I'm curious why/how the inflation changed so drastically in the 50's... because Ben Hur made $74 million in 1959 which is $871 million today and the Ten Commandments made $65 million in 1956 yet thats 1.164 billion today...
I'm not good at the numbers

Watched this again on DVD, feel like it was the same movie as Man of Steel only with Wonder Woman. Didn't get that feeling the first time seeing it but couldn't help it this time. Both focused on young versions early and had parents that didn't really motivate them to be heros they are. Both had to figure out who they really were. The villians were also similar as they both come from the heros orgin in a way. Not a bad thing as I enjoyed both movies but just noticed it in my second viewing and thought it was kind of odd.

Except for the fact that Wonder Woman was all "I'm gonna go help people because it is the right thing to do. Now I'm going to lead these soldiers into battle while inspiring them"
While Superman was all "I don't know what to do, oh some aliens are here calling me out, I guess I'll help out. Now I'm going to go help these soldiers enact their plan to save the day"

Agree, that's probably the biggest bash on Man of Steel as well. Superman wasn't really represented how he should have been character wise.

Agree, that's probably the biggest bash on Man of Steel as well. Superman wasn't really represented how he should have been character wise.
They tried to "modernize" him forgetting the fact that him being a good natured farm boy from kansas is part of what make him Superman. It wasn't Superman, it was someone with superpowers like Superman but it wasn't Superman. Clark was lacking one person in his life to make him the one true Superman and i think that was the one true Jonathan Kent and he wasn't in Man of Steel. Costner might as well have been playing his mirror universe version. I did enjoy the movie but after meeting Pa Kent for the first time I realized that this was not going to be anywhere close to a Christopher Reeve Superman. Man of Steel was like reading an elseworlds title, yeah it was Superman but not OUR Superman.
