I like Primo and Epico, but they have really run them into the ground. They beat Enzo & Cass and no one cares. They're so animated and can wrestle, but they're just...there.
Lock Jaw

Neither did I, didn't pay attention at all. Not to say it was a bad match, just too long of a show, so when the third hour rolls around I barely pay attention to anything.
Mr. Nerfect

Primo has been on the main roster of WWE for 8 years now. Remember there was scuttlebutt about his signing because people thought he was actually the better wrestler out of him and Carlito?
Mr. Nerfect
10-31-2016, 10:36 PM
That was really hurt by it being a long show. Not that The Shining Stars are ever over, despite how much ability they have to play a crowd.

Them beating Enzo and Cass twice and then just having the feud be suddenly dropped in favor of doing nothing with Golden Truth was baffling.

This show desperately needs to NOT be 3 hours. Dear lord.
Mr. Nerfect
10-31-2016, 10:44 PM
An annoying thing about them creating four new championships out of the blue is that when a guy like Jericho says "The US Title is the only title I haven't held," he now has to win the Universal Championship, the SmackDown Tag Team Championship AND United States Championship to be a Grand Slam Champion.
Mr. Nerfect

They've probably got no immediate plans for Sasha moving forward than for her to be in the SS match and Seth will likely be the fifth guy to the chagrin of the best friends. He might also show up and help Roman Reigns tonight against Jericho & Owens.

Primo has been on the main roster of WWE for 8 years now. Remember there was scuttlebutt about his signing because people thought he was actually the better wrestler out of him and Carlito?
Primo has been handled oddly right out of the gate. Wrestled one and only one match on Raw, and specifically cut a promo indicating that he was nothing like Carlito and was disgusted by his actions.
Then they took him off TV for a month, moved him to SmackDown, and put him in a team with the very same brother he was supposedly disgusted with. And despite a tag title run it meant really nothing when they got broken up because they didn't even make it a full year as a tag team.
And his team with Epico has been going on for 5 years now. What the fuck.

I rephrase: I think that it can impede how edgy a lot of your dialogue can be in the sense of specific word choices. They clearly want Seth Rollins to have some sort of "cool factor," but I don't think they get that saying "freakin" between words isn't cool at all.

On Smackdown Natty had the idea of wanting to be captain but Bryan had the better idea of giving it to whoever won the match (Natty vs Nikki). Bryan also solved the problem of Smackdown having more than 5 women by making whoever lost the match would be off the team.

Nikki, Becky, Alexa, Naomi & Carmella...nope, that's all the girls. Unless they use Mickie or Asuka for the final Team SmackDown member.

Chris Jericho is the best thing on RAW. I'm kind of wishing that instead of Kevin Owens as Universal Champ, they actually did go further with the Jericho/Owens team. Jericho's stuff with The New Day would have been fucking sick.
You put the Universal Title on Brock Lesnar and give Brock a really long run of trying to make people care about that big red monstrosity. I think it would even add to things like Lesnar/Goldberg.

Crowd-wise, just a big spot to please them. Match-wise, probably trying to daze his opponent enough for a possible count-out win or get the upper hand in the bout.
He's done it smoother before but this time didn't get the full rotation needed because he hit the apron. Big reason why Kendrick almost falls straight down.
Gran Metalik has a crazier looking version of the move which involves him landing standing up.

Thus the ring psychology of the move makes sense for the wrestler performing it.

It still looks really bad. Two girls delivering awkward verbiage with clear visual clues that they are trying to remember their lines. Charlotte also does look weird in it. Like she is on the verge of a mental break-down or something, but it could just be how they've made her up. Looks like she's about to cry throughout the entire promo in retrospect.

• I know it was just two moves, but if I have that to go by, I imagine that Goldberg/Lesnar is not going to be all that great, but it's still early days.
• What on earth was Saxton wearing? Seriously, was his Halloween costume a baby? Regardless if it was or not, I've noticed that every week I'm finding him more and more annoying.
The only good reason for keeping him around is to hear the quips directed at him from Corey Graves.
• On the subject of being annoying, TJ Perkins had his rematch and lost in such a way that made him look stupid for the second night in a row. I know it won't happen but the feud should be over now as Perkins had his rematch and didn't get the title back.
We need a number one contender match now but I'm sure we'll have another two weeks of this, with it ending at Survivor Series. Maybe the night after that, we'll have a number one contender battle royal or something with the Cruiserweights, including the new additions which I'm sure will debut next week in Glasgow.
• Foley on the mic now and I feel that for me, one of the things that I like SmackDown more than Raw for is that the GM is hardly on the mic. We can go a few weeks without Daniel Bryan appearing in the ring with a mic and when he does, it's usually for something important such as a contract signing or new title unveiling and he doesn't even talk for that long.
With Foley, he's in the ring on a mic every week and he talks for a good 10-15 minutes and most of the time, there's no need for him to be out there. Hell, I'm sure there's been a few episodes of SmackDown that Bryan hasn't even appeared at, not even backstage, but every single week without fail, Foley appears in the ring for ages or backstage.
• The outcome of the battle royal was pretty obvious. The last two guys were the two guys that got televised entrances. Although I would have loved it, I really doubt Curtis Axel was going to win.
Team Raw however is shaping up to really suck, that is compared to what I think Team SmackDown will be.
• More Cruiserweights now and it's the same six people as before. This division feels like it's already dead. All we have is one feud going on at the moment and that's Kendrick/Perkins. The six of these guys just seem to keep facing each other week after week but no hate grows between them.
Also, Cedric Alexander really needs a theme change. It's so quiet that you can actually feel the crowd not giving a shit.
I think one way to make the division more interesting and help build up interest of the Cruiserweights is have them face other people and not just fellow Cruiserweights.
Have Tony Nese & Drew Gulak chase the Tag Team Championships or even Gran Metalik face Rusev for example, because it's at the point now where the Cruiserweights have faced each other so many times now that nobody really cares anymore.
• I see that Cesaro has dropped the James Bond entrance, which is good because it was always so awkward to watch as he rarely got it right. All we need now is his theme to change or even just drop the sirens.
I don't get what they're doing with Primo & Epico. They get a win over the hot tag team that is Enzo & Cass, then they go to having a match against three guys in their mid to late 40's over watches, to randomly appearing every now and then.
These guys should really be on SmackDown.
• Judging by the end of the main event, next week in Glasgow the main event will be Jericho/Owens vs Rollins/Reigns.

• Overall, roll on SmackDown.

One thing positive I will say about RAW: Corey Graves is phenomenal as a commentator. He's really switched on and doing his best to stay in character but basically do everything a commentator should do. I won't say he's the best ever or anything, and I know he bothers some people, but I find him to genuinely charming in the role.
JBL, on the other hand, annoys me these days. I was a huge proponent of his in 2006, but for some reason he feels well out of place now. When Daniel Bryan becomes a new dad, maybe he'd like some time off and JBL can become the new General Manager for SmackDown. That's a role he would excel in. Bring in Christian to do commentary with Mauro. Or even bring back Heel King, because that was something. David Otunga can do something else. Maybe he could use some polish in NXT, where he can develop that commentary voice more?
Byron Saxton...ugh. I liked him with Michael Cole at Beast in the East. I don't think he's actually as terrible at his core as people think, he's just another in the line of generic commentators. He's also in a thankless role. Have him turn heel and become a manager for people who need a mouthpiece or something. I don't see the point for a three man booth when Graves has clearly got things down.

The problem with writers becomes evident as Mick defends Stephanie McMahon again. You can tell they don't know where they're going with it, but want to keep the thread open. Ugh.

Trying to imagine a writer sitting there and writing the line "you know, I was going to dress up for Halloween as a stupid idiot, but they were all out of Chris Jericho costumes" and thinking it is the best ever. Like imagining him being "super happy" with that line.....

Then forgetting how Foley would dress for the segment...

Yet the majority of the IWC gush over Owens and "his great promos".
We now find out that his material isn't even his own.

Virtually everyone is scripted though, just some pull it off better than others.

Could be like New Day or Enzo where they pretty much write their own stuff and hand it in for some editing and tweaking.
Think a script from a recent time The Rock was on RAW had just him, Cena, and Heyman with bullet points or improv allowed for their promos.

Well, yeah. Credit to Owens and Jericho for making it sound like their own work, but they clearly just get more focus. The stuff they get is good compared to the stuff other guys are saddled with.

Also, even though there is a written script, we do not know how much input the rasslers/certain rasslers get into actually writing that script in the first place.

That's true. Seems like a waste of time for the writers to write down what those wrestlers are going to say if it's their promo though.

I know CM Punk said that if the script was garbage he just told them to do a re-write to the point where Vince had to have a chat with him. I wonder how many of the guys there now care enough bar minor tweaks since Stone Cold and others have said that guys are afraid to speak up these days.
Ambrose said that he's never been happy with a promo he's done on the WWE main roster because the scripts suck, but he clearly does them anyway. I will say that he either has more freedom since the brand split or just better writers.

The problem with having all these writers, is that even if they have genuinely good ideas once in a blue moon, there are competing visions. Wrestling works best when there is some golden ideal that everything is building towards. Person A suggests that they run Kevin Owens vs. Brock Lesnar, for example, then Person B says "Yeah, but with Owens as the babyface," then person C says "Well, we need to get the title onto Brock," then person D says "Owens should drop it to Rollins then onto Brock," and suddenly this idea of two very different professional wrestlers that haven't lost finally clashing is completely out the window. It's not the same idea as the one Person A had.
And if you've got no long-term vision, and if you're not trying to have that vision because you are writing for what Vince wants to see week-to-week, how are you going to script the "characters" to have any vision? How are wrestlers, even if given freedom, supposed to sell their vision as performers to crowds without seeming like idiots when it all goes down the gurgler the next week?
It's a fundamental and philosophical problem the WWE has.

fortunately the WWE has one guy setting the vision and making final calls in everything. I don't know if you have heard of him Noid, but his name is Vincent Kennedy McMahon.
