DISCUSSION - Would Smackdown being converted into a 'speciality' show be a wise move?

In the future, I'm wondering if it would be in the WWE's best interests to have one of the shows (Smackdown being the likely candidate) be a speciality show.

What I mean by that is this: Have every single.....

1) Female wrestler
2) Cruiserweight
3) Hoss (for faggots like Jim Ross with a big man penis fetish, lollllz)

etc., be a part of Smackdown. Have entire speciality divisions on that one show. Hell, you can even bring back a Hardcore division and put it on Smackdown.

You can then devote RAW to

1) WWE/World title division (The title becomes unified, if it hasn't been already....I haven't watched programming in years and so I have no idea if it has or not).

2) US/IC title division (again, re-unite the belts if it hasn't been united already).

3) Tag team division:

Many of you might say, "Well, if the World/WWE title is only on RAW, then doesn't that make Smackdown look inferior?" Normally, it would, but it seems like the WWE are trying to position the Women's title as being equally prestigious to the World/WWE title and so why not go with that?

All in all, I'm just wondering if each show should be stacked with entire divisions? (as opposed to having a diversified 'melting pot' on both shows). I feel like if you give each show distinct divisions, then you not only achieve some brand identity, but you help attract different segments and demographics to different shows.

Only if you want them to have one les show a week.

In less sarcastic terms: Wrestling is already very niche. The biggest mistake you can make is making it even more niche. A broad diverse product is the key to growth not the other way around.

It's in wrestling's best interest to be a variety show.

Destor's right. I'd rather see the brand split dropped and there a unified roster again with a streamlined title system. You can give certain guys certain shine on certain shows (eg. Cesaro could primarily work SmackDown, Enzo & Cass do their shtick on RAW for a few weeks, etc.), but I think the brand split is a mistake.

You're somewhat getting your wish, Heyman. Well, kind of. SmackDown will air and then a cruiserweight show will go on right after it.

sort of. The network is INCREADIBLY niche so it works there. It would never work on cable.

I'd rather see them CANCEL Raw.

Nah, I like SD as it's own brand.

In-ring content is the best thing they can add to the Network, but it's that teetering point between where too much is and what's not enough to justify.

I don't think they would ever put all the girls on one sore. If anything, I could see them doing something similar to the 205 Live concept with the girls. This would allow them to develop more women storylines without eating up more time on RAW on SDL.

if you move all the girls off RAW, in theory you run the risk of losing some of their female audience. Looking at this past week's RAW numbers, RAW was the 3rd highest rated cable program for women 18-49 at 8PM. Usually we think of RAW as being mostly male audience, which it is, but it also outperforms just about everything else on cable when it comes to broads. So I wouldnt be quick to move the women off the show.

I kinda like where the brand extension is. You get to see more programs develop. More guys are put into top spots. Not everyone will succeed in those spots, but at least they get the chance . With one roster, its very tough to get TV time.

Especially on SDL, I feel like the tag teams and the women there have all had a chance to be in the spotlight. Even on RAW, you have 5 girls that have been pretty well established. So thats 10-12 girls combined that get regular spots every week.

Good response guys (Destor, Noid, CyNick, Slik).

The only response here that sucked balls was Big Vic's.

Time to step up your game buddy. I'll be monitoring your future actions.
