View Full Version : Wow is WWE Serious right now? LOL
http://nypost.com/2016/11/10/why-lebron-blew-off-the-undertaker-no-pr-stunts/
Here’s a note to anybody trying to meet with LeBron James outside the Cavaliers’ locker room: Make sure he’s available and interested first.
WWE legend The Undertaker (along with his wife, Michelle McCool, and Dana Warrior, the widow of the Ultimate Warrior) learned that lesson the hard way on opening night, when he waited outside the Cavaliers’ locker room for upwards of an hour hoping to meet with the basketball star. Although Kevin Love and a couple of other Cavaliers took some photos with the wrestler, James never came out to meet him.
This week, we finally got an explanation for the snub, courtesy of Cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon.

“If you don’t have an appointment, don’t already know James personally, aren’t a business associate or a small child, the odds of ‘meeting’ James before or after a Cavs game in or near the locker room are not great,” Vardon wrote. “I once saw Houston Astros stud second baseman Jose Altuve try to get a meeting with James after a game against the Houston Rockets in Texas. The request came through various team PR officials. Let’s just say James had no interest.
“Another rule. James is not cool with someone purposefully trying to make money or gain fame through him, away from the court. In other words, no PR stunts that don’t benefit James.”
James, who wore an Undertaker shirt during last year’s Finals, clearly wasn’t comfortable with handing the WWE any more free publicity on the opening night of the season.
And make no mistake, this was certainly a stunt on the part of the wrestling company, as they had Undertaker in full costume and brought a camera crew to capture the would-be meeting, and James wanted no part of it.

What kind of kindness would he be extending by taking a photo opp with the Undertaker?

I understand James' stance. WWE probably figured Lebron was a fan and would be thrilled to meet the Undertaker and get a championship belt. Even if he is, once he heard about the camera crew and all the pomp and circumstance I'm sure that's what did it in. He's an A-List celeb. He has an image. Everything he does is under a microscope and everyone wants to glom on to him. WWE still got a bit of video of some of the other Cavs players at least but I'm sure they were disappointed.
Note to WWE: Make an appointment.

Taker should have done some phenom stuff during the game to remind the Cavs and Lebron about the meetup later. :shifty:
WWE comes out looking very stupid in this situation. Cavs didn't really care about Lebron's Taker shirt and Taker himself probably felt like a dumbass waiting that long in his gear.

That's who I feel bad for lol. Yeah. It was clear what WWE was trying to do and it in no way benefited anyone but them. Glad LeBron snubbed them

Dunno...... to me this story is def "embarrassing for WWE", but only because Lebron seems like an "A-hole".......
Some of you are not understanding. WWE was ambushing Lebron with Taker in his gear to get some sort of publicity, possibly to use on tv or try to stir up some match. Total shady shit. lol They had a camera man waiting.

I don't really see it as shady..... companies do "surprise things" all the time for marketing purposes..... they probably thought, "Hey Lebron likes WWE and Undertaker, so it would be a fun cool thing to have him surprise Lebron at an event. Get some good footage and everyone would have fun"
How are they to know that Lebron is an A-Hole who refuses to see people/hates fun?

Yeah I don't see it as shady either. Who cares about the camera...everyone would have some kind of camera ready for meeting lebron. It was pretty much a direct response to him wearing the taker shirt during the finals. Sure they wanted the publicity but hell they assumed lebron was a fan and that they could have a fun little moment for both sides. Wwe tries to make kids happy and seeing the undertaker with lebron for 30 seconds on a raw broadcast would Def make them smile. It would have been good for wwe and lebron honestly.

The rest of the Cavs seemed to get a kick out of it. WWE gave them a title belt. Don't think they would drag a man walking of crutches uninvited along with the Warrior's widow.

Was the Undertaker there as a fan in full gimmick with a camera crew? Don't be a silly guy.
Also, what the fuck was Dana Warrior doing there? McCool makes at least some sense.

I'd say it's embarrassing for the WWE as it makes them look really stupid.
But it also makes LeBron look like a major asshole, which he probably is anyway.

I dont see it as Lebrons issue really. WWE should know well enough to reach out, surely most of these PR stunts where people "run into" one another theres an element of planning.

I'm a bigger fan of WWE than I am of Lebron James, but I still realize that Lebron didn't do anything wrong here. Can't really blame WWE for trying, though. No skin off anyone's ass.

No they ASSUMED he was a fan. Not surprised though, the arrogant morons who run this company think way too highly of themselves and the draw of WWE. In reality, not as big a deal. Amateur hour = WWE management.

I don't care that he waited in line. That's just funny.
What's even funnier though is WWE being so arrogant they thought by sending in Taker with his gear on, it would get them publicity. This isn't 2000 Vince. Your product isn't what it once was.
