I remember early on in the series when they jumped from 4 on screen on PS1 all the way up to 8 with Just Bring It. If you would've asked me how many people we would be able to have on screen 16 years and 2 console generations later, I'd have told you we'd be able to have 20 man battle royals.

Madden and FIFA have 22 highly detailed players on the field at once along with refs and coaches and you don't see framerates crashing wildly. Although in fairness there's a lot less variety needed in graphics and textures when most of the players are dressed the same. That's why for as insanely detailed as MLB The Show is, they've never gotten to a point where you can have an All Star Game where every player wears his actual team uniform like they do in real life.

Finally got rid of the MITB briefcase after switching to Raw on the 4th cash in. Beat Joe.

The weird thing is that when you do the cash in match, you warp back to the parking lot. Normally, you talk to your producer. So I left for the week.

The next week on Raw, I went over to my producer and he congratulated me like I just game through gorilla, then Steph congratulated me on winning the title and then I could just go home.

I'm going to drop the title at Fastlane because I won the Royal Rumble and I feel like I'll be playing against myself again if I go in as champ...

EDIT: SCRATCH THAT. HHH STILL IS ASKING ME TO CASH IT IN. DO NOT WIN MITB OUTSIDE OF THE MAIN STORY.

Looks like I'm done, whole mode is broken as if I can't do side quests, I can't get attribute points.

There's the same few quests I can do.

Talk to AJ or Finn depending on the brand who will challenge me to a match at the next PPV. This quest will glitch and start counting the weeks down through negatives and never end
Talk to Matt Bloom to manage Chris Chaos, but I really don't want to manage
A legend in Vinces office will challenge me to get 4 star matches for 3 weeks. This will make me double booked that week and the quest will end
Timed quests, MITB and Royal Rumble which are glitched

I'll raise this all as a ticket to 2k support, like it will do anything, but fuck it

Carrying and throwing people off the cell is fun. The models do look a lot better when playing than they do in stills and it's the best looking game they've done. A lot of new reversal and standing up animations work well in keeping a flow of the match. Universe is slightly better, but you're still limited to the whole 3 rivalries per show thing. Road to Glory, the CAW online mode has a good idea behind it. Even if you lose, you keep the stars you earn in the match, so you could actually talk to your opponent and call the spots so you both come out with 5 stars, but good luck with that.

Otherwise it plays almost exactly the same as 2k17 and all that.

The presentation blows me away every year, as does the capabilities of the creation suite. I really want the WWE games to be good because of this, but they have just disappointed me every year.

But presentation doesn't mean jack if the gameplay is broken and boring. And the amazing aesthetics of CAWS don't mean anything if they all play the same, and feel "empty". Keep in mind, this is still a great party game, if you want to throw a few back and have fun with your buds. But for that hardcore niche audience that enjoys a single player experience, it doesn't hold a candle to great series like fir pro or the Aki games. Stevie Richards actually put it best. He said that for all their incredible aesthetics, the WWE games lack the "heart" of the in ring performance as an art form, and fire pro captures it perfectly.

Also, I've never been a fan of the animations as a whole in WWE games. Sure the finishers of the top half of the roster look great, but a very large majority of the moves just look bad. They either look cartoonishly animated, or much weaker than they should.

Here's another one. Trying to get a trophy where you catch a diving opponent and carry them around the ring. Ember wasn't doing her finisher properly, would just do a wake up taunt on the top rope and then get down, so I tried changing them to springboards... And this happened

Saw a different Rumble vid. Just skimmed it. The good news is the ring filled up in that one.

The bad news is one of the first things I noticed was TM-61 brawling with each other inside a full ring. So much for tag teams helping each other like they'd claimed.

For all the criticisms I've had, I'm just running my first full Rumble and waiting to come in. Jimmy Uso was #1 and Jey #3 and they worked together and even saved each other a couple of times. So they did fix that at least.

Might depend on their Universe ally settings rather than just work in the Play now mode though.

EDIT: Don't know if it was coincidence, but Seth and Roman didn't touch either and made a couple of saves since I re-setup the Shield.... Until Seth had a finisher and eliminated Roman with it.

Think I figured out that no win condition bug. The Royal Rumble winner 2 years in a row has won a title shot at both belts, so has 2 matches (The reason that didn't show in the video is that I cashed in MITB with Christian on Orton). Going to find out if it affects both title matches this time, or just the second one which has been the Universal title both times.

Seems to be a few players online unlike the last game, though i'm sure that won't last. Bloody annoying when you get to play some arsehole who's lagging as it seems to make your systems framerate dive down to half what it should be for some reason, like playing in slow motion almost.

There's a few different type of Cunts that play this game:

Cunt A basically does the running grapple over and over and is either ocd as fuck to the point he's got it down to a pathetically fine art, or is running some type of hack to ensure he gets it time and time again as its virtually impossible to reverse. Likewise when you actually get a grapple attempt on him 99% of the time he counters it.

Cunt B is the asswipe that bails out of the ring every time he gets hit and starts circling the ring to try and make the ref collide with the opponent to trigger that "referee hold back" animation so he can run in and get a cheap hit\grapple.

Cunt C is the laggy bastard that is somehow at home playing with a shit framerate and playing the game in slow motion, just an annoyance to play against.

Cunt D is the Cunt that's somewhat new to the game and actually plays it "normally" so you can have a decent match once in a while, this breed of Cunt is very rare.

That's about it, so far i can only seem to find 1-1 matches much like 2k17, anymore than that seems to take forever to gather up the players needed.

Hearing there are a lot of really great CAWs that are using Angle, RVD, or Batista images/moves so it's blocking people from downloading them.

Same thing happened last year, but people were nice enough to copy said CAWs and remove the DLC-related stuff so everyone else can download them. But this year a lot more people are apparently putting their shit on lockdown so they can't be copied. So if you don't want to shell out extra money, too bad.

I know "beggars can't be choosers" and all that but still seems kinda shitty.

I honestly wonder if that's by design or not, because on their and CatDaddy's mobile game WWE SuperCard, you can now exploit the ad glitch for EVERYTHING and without resetting the Google advertising ID.

People will soon be running rampant with SS '17 event pros from the RD and RtG events and from MitB, I'd bet. RIP SuperCard, it's been way too long coming anyhow.

I've bought this for my sons birthday and had to 'check' it was working properly just in case I had to take it back.
Some of the entrances look amazing , particularly impressed with Roodes.
Played a six man tag match and it was so slow, took a while to focus on another wrestler and noticed there was lag between pressing the button for the reversal and the notification on screen, so found it hard to reverse.
Ultimately the kids will love it, so it's done is job for me.

All in all, it isnt a bad game. Aside from entrance music not playing occasionally, I haven't experienced any real glitches yet. I love some of the music tho, particularly George Thorogoods "One bourbon, one shot, one beer".

I had my first Rumble a little while ago and I was legit pissed when I got tossed by Slater. He was near the ropes and I rushed him to clothesline him over and the fucker ducked and back-tossed me over the top. Totally surprised me.

Does anyone know why they swapped out Ravishing Rick Rudes theme? It was wrong in WWE 2k16, they got it right in 2k17, then changed it again in this one. It just annoyed me.

Yeah, I know. This is the first year I've been able to buy it on Steam, since I finally broke down and bought myself an Alienware R15 laptop a few months ago. I don't even use my Xbox One anymore.

Theres a music injector program out there that lets you replace songs, namely the odd, generic ones (Western 1, Western 2, etc) with anything you want. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I'm also not totally sure I wanna risk ruining the game.

Theres enough music in there to get by, tho. I'm trying to build a WCW roster

That the functionality to use custom music in games on PS4 exists but only MLB The Show (created by Sony) are allowed to use that feature is just infuriating to me. Never ceases to take me out of the game when someone comes out to a generic theme.

At the end of the day I find myself turning off entrances after a while because A) seeing people enter to fake music is annoying and B) it takes less time to load when you skip entrances.

Operation Sports have come out with an attribute guide (https://forums.operationsports.com/forums/wwe-2k/918677-hyperballer-dcallamerican-wwe-2k18-attribute-project.html) which makes full use of the rating system, as opposed to 2k's lazy ratings which are overinflated and only assigned in increments of 5. It does a great job of actually making everyone play more like their real life counterparts, and it gives you a greater chance of having realistic sim results along with competitive matches from guys of similar levels. The spreadsheet includes basically everyone currently in WWE including people not in the game so you can sync up your CAWs, and they're working on getting all of the legends synced up too.

As it says though, don't be blinded by the overall ratings. 80 is essentially the new 100, but the bulk of the main WWE roster fall within 40-60. It's the actual attribute ratings that set them apart.

The downside of course is that it takes ages to update everyone, but you could always update as you play along in Universe and only edit people as they come up in matches.

Does anyone know why they swapped out Ravishing Rick Rudes theme? It was wrong in WWE 2k16, they got it right in 2k17, then changed it again in this one. It just annoyed me.

1st year MyCareer or after?

What's supposed to happen 1st year is your tag team partner (or whoever the game decides is your tag team partner at that time) interferes after you cash in to cost you in a cutscene and the match doesn't happen, so you don't win the belt. That happened to me (with yet another wrong tag partner), but it seems like it doesn't trigger for everyone for whatever reason.

I think I've played less than 10 matches online throughout the entirety of my WWE games "career" with people I didn't know. Just too much bullshit.

I remember once doing an Elimination Chamber and I was going to enter last. But 3 people in the match were teaming up and they'd taken out the other 2 dudes. So all 3 of them were standing right outside my chamber, taunting and racking up multiple specials. Took like 6 finishers the second I got out of the chamber and that was that. Lame.

One other guy who has a character called "blue azis" is the most obvious cheater I've ever seen, no-matter what you do to this guy his character takes no damage, hit him with specials, finishers etc and his character health never seems to change. Not to mention the convenient "incidental lag" that magically occurs every time he's vulnerable which seems to give him a chance to hit a reversal.

Be that as it may, the RtG mode is so awesome...you can go and have some seriously epic matches.

One guy I fought tonight for probably around 20-25 minutes, and despite falling just short, got a 5 * rating. Another guy, I lasted until my torso had sustained gray damage, and not just like, I got immediately pinned after my torso went gray, but for like 5, maybe 10 minutes like that and red head damage to boot.

Seriously. If you give it a shot, you'll see the vast majority of online opponents are legit.

Also, History's Greatest, Mr. E., has now qualified for Survivor Series. I secretly want the "main event" to be an 8-man (4 v. 4 ONLY) elimination tag match.

The patch made the entrances/music/titan trons for the NXT DLC unselectable once again, but CAWs who had that stuff assigned to them before the most recent patch will still use it. They even fixed Elias' tron to be his main roster tron (the initial one said Elias Samson).

Speaking of Elias, the soon to be DLC version of him has also been spotted in Career mode.

This turd is pretty much unplayable online now, theres so few players that anytime i get a game i get playing with some cunt with circa 1995 internet connection, which for some fucked up reason works in his favour. Reversing them is near impossible and the game seems to make your character do random actions instead of what you're trying to do, i.e: i go to pose and suddenly my character tries to pick the opponent up from the mat, i run and try and hit a punch and my character doesn't bother trying to do a punch but would just prefer to bounce around the ropes for half an hour.

Not to mention the insane input lag, i press a direction and a second later my character responds to it, how in the fuck do the retards that make these game not see that as a serious issue? The games literally a button mashing competition and fuck all else. Apparently matching you to a player with a low latency isn't an option and they would rather connect you to some prick in the arsehole of nowhere who connects via smoke signals.

Picked it up. Had a cracking match AJ vs Lesnar whilst it was installing. Lesnar reversed a Phenominal Forearm into an F5 (there’s the finish for tonight) but I kicked out at 2, eventually winning with a Calf Crusher - surprising given I never mastered the new submission system.

Played a couple of Ladder matches trying to work out the ladder bridge stuff, and some epic spots, CPU is too interested in winning the match though.

Overall there seems very, very little difference to the game from 2 years ago.

Honestly though, there are no real tips. Most of the dumb bugs have been patched out. If you want separation between cruisers and heavyweights, you have to make 205 Live though. While I'm all for Tozawa pushing Brocks shit in for my universe, if you call that "wonky" then it's going to always happen. It doesn't treat them as second class superstars.

My second Mania I simmed to was headlined by Orton challenging for the WWE belt held by Kendrick.

I’ve set it so that the cruisers are focused on the cruiser belt only but it doesn’t seem to stop random rivalries kicking in. I can’t see Itami getting a title match on the PPV but it’s playing out to be a fun little feud as Itami is heel and Brock face. Cedric Alexander just took Brock to the limit in a tv match; fucker kept reversing the F5.

Universe still need an overhaul.

A 17 week rivalry between Miz and Ohno over the IC title consisted of 16 normal singles matches, 11-5 in favour of Miz. I know WWE will repeat matches over and over but that seems a little overkill.

At least it ended in Ohno with the belt so I can bump Miz up to WWE Championship contention.

The footage that came out prior to the patch had this weird overly simplified lighting that made them look like action figures, no shadows at all, commentary that sounds like a Real Audio file with all the compression and was still only running at 30fps. That's not the case. When it's docked, it actually turns the CPU and GPU clocks up so there's more power. I think the biggest gap if you wanted tontest it is Mario Odyssey which uses this weird half resolution refresh that makes everything look blurry in motion, but looks fantastic on the TV.

No, it's just any match with 4 or above peoole. 2 man matches run at 30fps, bigger matches run... Less than that. And instead of skipping frames to keep the speed, it just runs slow.

For all the (deserved) shit I give this game, Universe after some patches isn't horrible. Was working through it to get the trophy and after a couple of years of simming for the other trophies, things are interesting. Gallows and Anderson keep getting roll-up wins over the outsiders, specifically on Scott Hall and there's tension there between him and Nash. A Steel Cage match for Payback was booked between Neville and Cedric Alexander and on the last 205 live, Neville called for the cage to be lowered as he beat on Cedric.

Balor just wants to beat Strowman, just once. But even busting out the Demon at Payback he couldn't do it. The main event of Payback was Cesaro Vs. Sheamus, tag team champions and Sheamus is the Universal champion. Thought it wouldn't reference it, but commentary did note they were partners and after I put Shemus through 2 tables, it's now a rivalry starting from next week on Raw and they have a tag match on Raw.

Playing the matches is still bad but the actual structure is improved for once.

Still looking for that Team Up trophy if anyone wants to add Hasney on PSN

At the moment my son is playing a Rumble, McIntyre entered at number 12 but due to a glitch it didn't recognise his run in and said he was eliminated .
We are now at man 28, Lars Sullivan has dominated , Daniel Bryan has made his return and Drew McIntyre is standing in the ring like a ghost , no one can touch him.

Yeah, the 8 men in the ring was a mistake for PS4 and XB1. They work fine on PS4 Pro though.

Disregard, dude. I messaged you a screenshot of when I earned the trophy although the story behind my doing so goes as follows:

I see there's this guy who is playing 2K18 on my friends list so I thought cool, I'll hit him up and see if he wants to go for the trophy. He says sure so I hop on the game and try to invite him but he keeps getting Network Error, because LOL 2K servers, amirite? So anyway, he invites me, we choose our guys and are in Practice mode when he gets cut off.

We try once more. He's Seth Rollins, I'm 2001 Rock. We go to practice mode, targets (opponents) acquired, all the character data loads and we're off to find out who we'll be facing -- OF COURSE! 2 CAWs both rated 100, what are the odds? :roll:

We get to the match and probably 30 seconds to at most a minute goes by before he gets disconnected. :( The AI takes over and starts just kicking ass. Eventually their legal guy is outside the ring getting worked over by Seth with the other guy just sorta standing there with a sledgehammer doing nothing, so I pitch in and help Seth double-team this poor schlub until the ref is at 9, when Seth runs into the ring to get us the win. It was so surreal. I messaged my supposed-to-have-been partner informing him what had happened and that I was sorry for him getting disconnected. I felt so freaking dirty when that trophy popped.

These RtG PPV "main events" are more than an adequate challenge, so why make players go after these asinine carrot-on-a-stick rewards every time? The masks and such that they give for winning a main event just look so hokey and feel so damn cheap.

Why not give players a choice between like a loot box (guaranteed silver or gold, determined at random when chosen), a move-set the player doesn't have yet, or an attribute point? Maybe RR main event wins could result in a new pair of kicks or shades, a hairstyle, elbow or wrist pads, a t-shirt or new tights? Anything but more stuff to put on one's head.

Is it just me or is the microphone option in the pc version fucked up? A lot of times in matches i can see the mic gauge moving like the other persons talking but at most the volume on it is non existent, in 2k17 this was never an issue and mics could be heard easily. Its like they messed with the audio settings and the mic setting got overlooked.

First year done in Universal.

I started to skip past Raw a lot so we got to Mania with only a Cruiserweight non-title feud. No Universal championship feud/match, same for the Women. I forced a Cena/Taker feud (and played the match which was really fun!), and we had Owens (Rumble winner) vs WWE Champion Samoa Joe.

I’ve started to re-set Universe. Now have the Women’s division with its own show WWE Revolution complete with a WWE Women’s Championship and Tag Team belts.

Tag division currently set up with Bellas, Iconic Duo, Bliss & Jax, Bayley & Becky, Charlotte & Natty, Emma & Dana, Paige & Nikki Cross.

Also moved the cruisers to 205Live. Had to download Mysterio, Rey Fenix, Gulak, Tyler Bate, Pentagon (not sure if he’s below 205lbs), and found a great Ricochet but need to unlock HBK 98. If I can find some more decent creations I could do a 205 Tag Division.

Now I can either set up a show just for Tags, or set up Raw and SmackDown to have World, Midcard, and Tag divisions.

See if that leads to better rivalries and PPV cards.

Turns out that won’t work as I thought as you can only have 2 Major shows host a PPV.

I went with Raw and Revolution for Payback which gave me:

The Bellas defeating The Iconic Duo to defend the Women’s Tag Titles
Cena beat Corbin in a LMS match
Rollins beat Roode
The Rock won a Fatal 4-Way vs Orton, Mahal, Reigns
Charlotte won the Women’s Championship from Sasha Banks
Nakamura won a Triple Threat vs Owens (c), and The Miz to become the NEW WWE Champion.

Not bad.

Jester hat for beating Kick-Off 3x threat v. KO v. Zayn, didn't notice anything (maybe I missed it) but loot box(es) for the first match, a fatal-4-way, and some headband or something for winning the 3x threat second match v. Kane v. Braun.

So excited for the next couple of "rewards". :roll:

You talking about the story mode? If so, you might be overthinking it.

For the mandatory objective, just climb to the top and wait for someone else to climb the other side. Punch them until dazed, then hit triangle/Y for the OMG Moment - you don't even need a finisher stored - then grab the briefcase, et voilà! :)
