You can't blame people for not wanting to consume garbage programming. And of course, there are melons who pick sides...which confuses me a lot. Why can't you enjoy both?

That being said, I'm glad that Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan lost their contender's match and are still getting a title match. Love how Jurassic Express are challenging reDRagon and also putting their tag team titles on the line. It all makes sense.

I am trying to figure out if changing Raquel Gonzalez's name to Raquel Rodriguez is racist. Does Vince think Gonzalez isn't Latino enough? This might be the most unnecessary name change he has ever done. Why not just drop her last name if he didn't like Gonzalez like he has done other wrestlers?

SmackDown was really good. I can’t believe it, but Butch is actually working. Drew Gulak is amazing. Love him in this role. Madcap Moss getting over with me. Randy Orton’s promo was fire. Pat McAfee is a good commentator. WWE commentary doesn’t seem as “bad” to me lately. I actually enjoyed the Smith, Saxton and Lawler team from what I saw of Raw.

There’s still elements of that they can do. I like the idea of Gunther & Ludvig as the two man unit. Cesaro could come back and team with Aichner (a one time protege). Sign Thatcher, Lorcan and Burch back. Thatcher will need a partner. I’m sure there’s another great grappler somewhere I’m forgetting about. I guess he and Ciampa had a thing for a while, but I’d bring back Gargano to team with him.

Imagine the tag series you could have with:

* Instinct
* Cesaro & Aichner
* Lorcan & Burch
* Thatcher & …let’s go Gulak
* Ciampa & Gargano
* Throw in Tyler Bate & Ilya Dragonov

You can have the tag belts floating about and allowing them to go between shows every now and then.

I don’t think you’re wrong with what you’re saying, but I disagree that this is necessarily what you’re getting. Story can be driven forward by rematches. Sometimes guys have a rivalry and they’re going to go back and forth quite a few times. The idea that two separate wrestlers having a match together for the first time is the difference between something being fresh and stale is a fallacy that gets in the way of storytelling too.

I’m not saying run Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre every week. But you could run it several times and tell a story with it that doesn’t warrant the internet groans that it would get.

I agree with all of this. Right now the idea seems to be to establish the new heel faction as personalities that have parity with one of the most pushed tag teams ever. They’re showing off Butch’s personality and letting him go off the rails when he doesn’t get what he wants, etc.

Zayn vs. Riddle is added to MITB. It looks like Moss is going to win the Ladder Match when Zayn screws him out of it and helps Owens win. Owens goes to pay. Zayn back but Moss cancels him out.

Zayn gets to play with the drama of whose side he’s really on. Moss crosses paths with Owens a few times, including the Rumble. At Mania he gets Owens in a one-on-one Ladder Match for the briefcase with the time on it resetting.

Bayley definitely needs to make her return in the Women’s ladder match. She doesn’t need to win, as she’s already a top star in the division, but being the foil to whoever does could be interesting. Then you slowly build her up to a feud with Ronda on SD, maybe put her over at a couple PPV’s and maybe Bayley wins the Blue brand’s Womeen’s Championship again at like Survivor Series or the show after.

Sorry if that was a wall of text but we were sold 9 months as a timeline for her to be out, and if she isn’t back by mid next month it will be a full year. Makes me wonder if A.) Her injury is more severe and taking more time to heal than first thought or B.) There’s something more personal/private going on with her. Brock is a mark for money, so more likely he’s held them up for a bonus, or he’s just over reacted to Vince going. I find it odd that he’s attached to the man rather than the company but Vince does get that loyalty from his top guys. Or, it was a noting story.

Could see it being the setup for a mid-match cash in on Brock to get the belts off Roman without him taking the fall and neither guy having to lay down for the 10 count but it feels a bit rushed. And McIntyre/Theory doesn’t really setup the UK show that well. Although I could see neither Roman or Brock wanting to make the trip.

Or you just have Theory take Brock out for the finish and keep the belts on Roman.

There aren’t too many jobs in this world that you can’t quit. The WWE can’t really force Brock Lesnar to go out there and risk permanent physical injury to himself if he doesn’t want to. They wouldn’t have to pay him if he didn’t want to do it anymore, but Brock could absolutely walk out if he wanted to.

Would they let him go elsewhere? A reasonable no compete would probably be for the remaining dates on his WWE deal plus a little extra. There would be licensing things that would suggest he is under contract for a while. I doubt he could go to AEW or even a place like New Japan this time. Although WWE might prefer he go somewhere over another place as a strategy. It’s more likely he just has another book done or makes appearances in the crowd every now and then for the UFC.
