PWInsider.com is told that back when Tommy End was moved to the main WWE roster several years ago, the company failed to update his contract from the standard 30 day non-compete that NXT level talents receive to the 90 day non-compete that main roster performers are given. So, what can only be described as a bad clerical error allowed End to be free and clear in time for the first episode of AEW Dynamite on the road and surprise everyone.

That's pretty wild because it's incredibly unlikely WWE doesn't have a contract management system and a template agreement they use for all NXT and/or main roster agreement amendments that would have the 90 day clause in it by default. Either, 1. someone messed up and pulled the wrong template doc and no one else noticed, 2. someone really messed up by intentionally or negligently editing the 90 day clause to 30 and no one else noticed, or 3. this story is just wrong.

He said "That's Tommy End, but that man standing in the ring is not Tommy End. That's Malakai Black"... As if he was a "changed man" or whatever. Was still kind of awkward but he was just explaining that he's not "Tommy End" anymore, which is what every1 expected him to be called in AEW (crowd started chanting "Tommy, Tommy")

I think JR did call him Tommy End later but that's just JR being JR!!
