I'd say the Vegas odds on this show edging closer to 5 hours than 4 is probably about -220.

This is probably the very first PPV for AEW where there are SO many matchups that I don't care at all about. My interest is really only peaked for Page/Punk, Anarchy in the Arena, MJF/Wardlow, and I'm halfway interested in Bucks/Hardys, Tag Team Championship triangle match and The House of Black against Death Triangle.

If those slap it will a good show. Of course the other matches can and will likely deliver too it's just there are so many that I can't care about. I get wanting to have Darby and O'Reilly on the show but it's packed man, wtf do we need that here for? Put it on Dynamite. Set it up in an angle on the PPV to get them their checks.

Tony spoke about the NBA game playing at the same time and he's going to time out the show so that NBA fans won't miss the main event. So stupid.

Yeah I think they couldn't bring themselves to omit Darby and I assume if Sting weren't hurt it'd have been reDragon vs. Darby/Sting.

But honestly, before Revolution they had 3 pre-show matches. Darby and KOR as the pre-show "main event" feels totally workable, let them fly at each other for 15 minutes and call it a day. Don't see the need to shoehorn it onto here.

Don't really get Jade/Anna as a main show match either. We know Jade is winning, she's already beaten Anna before. As happy in the pants Anna makes me I don't need to see it again.

AEW PPVs always deliver, and looking at the card I see a handful of matches that should be good to great. I'm not even that put off by AEW PPVs being long because they only do 4 a year, so it makes sense to me.

But that still doesn't mean you need to shoehorn people onto the main card either. I guess it was either this or another one of those clusterfuck Casino matches. Ah well.

That should be the main show as those have been the longest running angles. And I’d argue The house of Black Death triangle has gone on way too long. The Sammy v Scorpio has went on too long too but now they’re at least blowing off the Tay v Van Zant mini feud it created.

I still think the card will deliver bell to bell but it feels really bloated for no reason other than get guys a ppv pay day. Most of those extra matches don’t even need to be on the pre snow to be honest.

Here’s hoping Joe and Ruby come out on top of the tourney. Ruby needs a big win as her character has been a failure in that regard after losing two title matches in a year. Cole isn’t doing much for me and I think the winner of the tourney should get a world title shot, and Joe v Punk has way more appeal to me than Punk v Cole.

There’s 6 matches I’m very excited about, and then a lot of stuff I don’t care about or don’t care for. Completely burnt out on Adam Cole. Starting to get there with Britt Baker as well. Don’t care about the Sammy/Men of the Year feud. I like Darby and O’Reilly but that shld be on the pre show. Same with Jade and Anna. Hardys/Bucks seems way too rushed for a dream match.

That being said, I am jacked to the tits for the matches I am looking forward to. And AEW has yet to do a bad ppv. So I hope all the good stuff isn’t weighed down by the bloat.

Cole isn’t doing much for me

Completely burnt out on Adam Cole.

These sentiments seem pretty consistent across AEW fandom, even their subreddit which tends to be optimistic about everything have grown sick of him.

I don't dislike Cole and was jazzed to see him in AEW. He's a good hand and there's a place for him. But he just doesn't seem worth the amount of exposure they've given him.

As a character he's always been exactly the same guy. ROH Cole is the same as NJPW Cole is the same as NXT Cole. Doesn't seem to have the range to be anything other than a smarmy heel.

That they're actively rehashing Undisputed Era just adds to the optics that he's not really brought anything new to the table.

The lone benefit to Undisputed Era being in AEW was to set up the eventual match with Omega and The Bucks. Last winter I really thought DoN would be the time for it but didn't realize the real extent of Omega's injuries. I assume that program will eventually happen but now not til All Out or Full Gear.

So my fear now is that they'll stall for time with Cole by having him and another overexposed character in Baker win the Owen trophies and be an annoying power couple. If they feud with Sammy and Tay it might be the first time I actively change the channel during an AEW segment.

Cole ever being a “world” champion was ridiculous. The best use for him was to take advantage the bit of credibility that flub in NXT gave him by jobbing him to the champ as soon as possible and then move him down to the midcard. Joe should beat him handily.

He isn’t smart if he’s walked out. He’s been one of the best booked wrestlers on the roster and is constantly featured while also wrestling very little. I can’t remember his last match after the ppv street fight with Punk.

It’s been mentioned before his size prob hinders him greatly in WWE, as does their cookie cutter approach to how they book heels and script promos. He’d suck there simply because everything that makes him great gets taken away. Not to mention the apathetic crowds. Hot crowds are part of what makes his segments so good and he isn’t likely to generate that kind of heat in WWE as a watered down wish app version of himself.

Not to mention, as previously stated, he loses all leverage in negotiating a deal of he walks away or burned bridges with AEW. He’d be an idiot to tank his biggest bargaining chip. There’s no other promotion that’s going to pay him at the level AEW or WWE can and he’d get far less exposure.

I’m very interested in what the issue. I can’t imagine it’s booking. Other than the ill advised Jericho feud, he’s been booked almost to perfection and he’s about to blow off another big storyline that’s been building for years now. And make a guy while still maintaining his top spot as #1 heel. I also have little doubt he isn’t going to be the guy who ends the seemingly inevitable Punk reign that’s prob starting tomorrow.

Maybe he didn’t wanna lose his 3rd ppv match in the last 4? Maybe he doesn’t wanna put over Wardlow? Maybe it’s a squash match and he’s not for that. Or maybe it’s just money.

Nonetheless what a dire situation Tony has found himself in.

More will come out about this. I suspect MJF was promised certain things by show day and TK has been “too busy” for one of his alleged top guys. Something set MJF off. It doesn’t make too much sense for him to throw this sort of spanner into the works unprovoked. If so, it would get back to Vince and he wouldn’t touch him.

I just hope it’s not a mental breakdown or something like that. And selfishly I don’t want him to be done with wrestling, although if it’s his choice, good for him.

I think the least likely scenario is that he’s being a spoilt brat. There are a few AEW defenders that seem to be ready to accept that, but I think it’s more likely to be TK’s mismanagement. MJF wouldn’t have many supporters in the business if he’s kicking up a stink for no reason.

If it comes out that TK has dicked MJF around, I’d be shocked if the vets in the locker-room didn’t show some sort of solidarity with him. Unless their contracts are so big they don’t give a shit about promotional conduct or their egos are fragile enough that they see MJF leaving as a threat to their relevancy removed.

FTR and Danielson seem like prime guys to be like “No, this is not okay.”

For MJF to walk out before delivering on his deal with Wardlow instead of after is a big sign to me that something wasn’t made good on. If this was just “holy fuck, get me out of this shithole” there’s no reason for MJF to not go out there and get obliterated by his buddy then tell Tony Khan he quits. That MJF hasn’t even gone in the building suggests he’s been dicked over and he’d feel vindicated in not placating them.

Well, there is that way to look at it. I look at it as a case where if you want even a snowball’s chance of keeping this guy in 2024, then you kind of have to eat those lumps.

Wrestlers do get their contracts bumped all the time. I’ve read speculation that it’s already happened to MJF without an extension and that TK has upped other wrestlers pay as they perform better too. Those are rumors, but I see MJF’s side too, where he is one of their MVPs and TK knows how valuable he is, which is why he’s trying to get that extension.

Both sides know that MJF wants to be WWE bound. That’s where the stalemate is. If this was a case of MJF actually wanting to stay, he’d just take the extension. He wants out and my theory is he wants out sooner. Which is why I’ve never bought into the “groan, are we going to get 18 months of this?” stuff. I’ve always thought he’d be out by then.

Half of this “more money” stuff is “just let me fucking go.” I mean, if he HAD to be there he might as well get more money out of it, right? But a little bit of it is the Dr. Evil ridiculous amount of money. I don’t think he legitimately expects it. It’s a public way to flex (because he is worth more money) and be a “problem child” without actually doing anything technically wrong. Unless he did just walk out for no reason, lol.

BUT, if for example he and TK reached a verbal agreement for a compromised increase for those 18 months or whatever, then it gets to this weekend and he’s got nothing in writing — I could understand why he might be pissed, lol.

Grilling burgers. Ground sirloin. 90/10 meat to fat ratio. I know most say you need an 80/20 split at minimum but I like the leaner grind. Cooked to a nice medium you’re not going to notice the lack of fat. Just a clean beefy bite.
