Billick is full of shit, Jamal Lewis will still be playing after week 8.

Yeah don't get me wrong, great move getting rid of Morgan and picking up Johnson. I just really don't think getting rid of Lewis was worth it. 'Cause like I said, even if his trial lasts until the end of the season, you still get 8 (well 7 if you count the bye) great fantasy weeks out of him, which is a large portion of the fantasy season. And there's still the possibility of him playing after too.

all charges will be dropped against Lewis

That's where personal opinion comes in. I don't think Jones' numbers will be THAT far off of Lewis'. Enough atleast where the WR trade makes up for any difference.

That doesn't mean the trial won't last a while though.

charges will be dismissed on him in the first 3 days. From what I've heard and read they don't have anything on him anyways. it's the group they have stuff on. he'll maybe miss 1 week tops.

Why would somebody drop Corey Dillon :|
ALSO Why would you take Springs just to drop him later on
Meh, I dunno - he wasn't in my plans... :shifty:

On that Lewis trade you should had tried to pick up a 3rd player, I bet you could have done it

Lewis is a solid fantasy player, but he has too many people on his dick because of his breakout year last year.
Checking out his statistics:
In 2000 and 2002 he posted 1300 yard seasons with 6 TD's rushing and 1 TD receiving in '02. 2001 is not listed, I'm assuming he was injured, correct me if I'm wrong.
Last year was an absolutely great season for him, any back even. 2000+ yards and 14 total TD's. I doubt he comes close to touching either of those numbers again in '04.
Edit: Not to mention he put 8 balls on the ground and lost 6 last year. If he has a season similar to that of '00 and '02 then that many fumbles subtracts a touchdown or two he has, especially if it is in the same game. It is a menial difference of course, but every point matters in fantasy.

Speaking of trading big time rb's. What did u guys think of what I got for LT ? I probably coulda gotten a lil more, but i dunno i was desperate and mad for missing the draft. The trade was
Ladainian Tomlinson
Keenan McCardell (He's gonna sit out ;))
for
Edgerrin James
Michael Jenkins
Jon Vilma
Adam Archuleta

Depends, Edge is good but he needs to put up numbers. Jenkins is an unproven rookie. Defensive players, unless standout playmakers are pretty much the same as far as throwing up points goes. Guess it all depends how Edge and Jenkins play. At least with LT you knew you had something barring any injuries.

Looks like a good trade to me. You lost LT, but you got a good #1 RB and Jenkins will be good this year. Archuleta is a great fantasy player too, so I'd say it was a good trade overall. Depends on what your team was like before, your weaknesses and all

What are you talking about. He's 24, so a breakout year is huge. How the hell can you say he's just going to stop putting up huge numbers? Baltimore has no intentions of becoming a passing team anytime soon, so Lewis is gonna be huge for a long time.
Gonzo

I never said he is going to stop putting up numbers. I said that trade isn't so bad because he isn't going to put up numbers like last year again. Judging from previous seasons he'll probably put anywhere from 1300-1500 and 6-8 TD's. Thomas Jones can do that.

People have been saying the exact same thing about Priest Holmes for like 3 years now, and look what happened there.

True, point taken. The Chiefs aren't as one dimensional as the Ravens. The Chiefs have a solid QB and Tony G. The Ravens do have Todd Heap but they don't have a stable QB situation yet. Playing against the Ravens you can count on Jamal being the offense. In KC Tony G will take LB's or a SS out of the box and allow Priest more room to run. Not to mention the Chief's have a great fucking FB.

I've been hearing that he might tke Wheatley's #1 spot so who nowsssss
Jesus Shuttlesworth
08-24-2004, 10:16 PM
Yea I have been hearing that aswell, thats why I got him
I will take pretty much any decent starters I can get seeing how its a 20 team league
But I dont understand why this year there is a starting QB still on FA  and last year when I REALLY needed a starting QB there was none to be found

Oakland is wierd this year. Fargas, Wheatley, Zeroue...I looked at Zack Crockett too and he had 7 TD's last year. They use him for short yardage. :-\
Kind of a toss up until a clear cut starter is announced.
road doggy dogg
08-24-2004, 11:35 PM
Crockett will be useless this year. Zeroue is at worst going to be their third-down back, so he'll be getting the short yardage runs and all. Wheatley/Fargas is what people want to pay attention to
Gonzo
08-24-2004, 11:37 PM
If I recall Fargas is pretty small, I would be surprised if Wheatley doesn't win the starting job.
road doggy dogg
08-24-2004, 11:53 PM
Well technically Wheatley IS the starter right now. Or at least, the job is his to lose for now.
Gonzo
08-24-2004, 11:54 PM
I don't follow Oakland too closely but I think Wheatley gives them the best chance at RB.

Anyone interested in Leftwich or Eli? I need a good WR and/or RB. I may even give up Pennington if the right deal comes along. Someone make me an offer.

Fargas isnt THAT small though, he is pretty powerful back
Wheatly has been given tons of chances to take over the starting role and he was unable too in the past.

Dammit. Dave's like, not commissioner of that one league, and I want mine and Ant's trade vetoed :o
How does the league voting thing work? I voted against it, but I have no idea how many people need to vote against it for it to actually be overturned :(
