Fantasy Football 2004-5
Looking through Yahoo today and ESPN and the fantasy football season looks like it's just about to start again.

Are people up for a league this year?

A couple of ideas I had were that as well as doing a head to head league like we normally do, we could also do a rotis league. To explain, unlike in head to head, in a rotis league points are scored over the season and decided on season totals. So in a 10 team league the person with the most rushing yards gets 10 points and the person with the least gets 1 point, and so on for all the scoring cats. The leagues could be run in parallel. People could do one or the other, or both.

I've been commish for the last couple of years and I'm happy to do it again, but if other people want to be commish instead then that is cool.

Really this topic is to set the ball rolling for ideas about the leagues and to see if there are enough people who want to be involved.

We'll probably end up doing the BBC one again, but the scoring system in that leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm in. I finished 4th in a 12 man league last year. Oddly, I had the LOWEST POINT TOTAL out of everyone. But I guess that was good enough to be humiliated in the first round of the playoffs

If there's room, count me in. I need to make up for last year's second-half collapse. Pretty pumped up for football season alreadyyyy

If you're doing more than one league, I'll join a head to head, and a roto league if you're doing that. Maybe I'll get lucky again this year (Ahman Green has much love <3 ), and I swear this year I won't trade TO. Honestly. No really.

Ended last year with a 4 game win streak, didn't make the playoffs. Gotta be one of the early faves.

Yeah, you can draft during pre-season, right? If so, we should probably wait as late as we can to draft to prevent another Vick/Pennington situation.

Stima when did you last check your baseball teams?

I've set up a Points league and a head to head league.

I've set the head to head league to be 16 people but the points league to 20.

Can people check out the scoring for the points league because Yahoo has some funny ideas, so i think it needs changing.

Okay I'm going to sign up right now. I didn't look at the settings or anything yet, but I have a few suggestions.

For the points, last year's wasn't too bad, but there were a few things that screwed it up a bit. IMO QBs shouldn't get points for completions, that makes their totals too high. And while I don't dislike the way we did this last year, I think it would probably be better to have players select a team defense, rather than individual players. I only say this because I know we have a lot of newer players, and most people generally don't know who the best cornerbacks and linebackers etc are in the league. So I guess it evens the playing field out a bit. I wouldn't really be angry if it stayed like it was last year though, so no biggy.

I think other than that, the points should be fine. Maybe make it more like the default Yahoo one (6 pts for a TD, 25 yards / pt for receiving, 10 yards / pt for rushing, 50 yards / pt for throwing), but that is just being nitpicky. Whatever you wanna do, that's fine. These are just suggestions.
