yeah, I posted that on the main page today. I was like "wtf" when I read about it yesterday. But then I thought about BEN Stiller's character from Heavyweights and I think it would be great if they went that way.

I think it would be best if what you just said is never mentioned again. If we all ignore it, it might go away.

Nah they should've went with the Super Nova gimmick and formed a stable with Hurricane and Rosey. The Allies Of Justice or something, or even better, make Nova a super villain.

Now, wait a second. What were you guys and myself saying about the Eugene gimmick at the begginning. Everyone was saying it would suck. But it didn't and it got over real quick with the fans. Give it a chance

Yea, he got over really quick, but where can he go from here? How long is that gimmick really going to be able to last him?
Loose Cannon
07-26-2004, 06:23 PM
Well they milked the gimmick, so that was the WWE's fault. But the gimmick got over with the fans.

It is a bad idea, and people started to sour on him as fast as they grew to love him.
The angle's working pretty good, I think, but it's still a bad idea to have done.

Poor Nova...
Yeah LC the gimmick got over but how long can it continue, can it draw, etc.
And like I said about this idea for Nova :nono:
The WWE gave a great gimmick to a shitty wrestler in JBL, so you figure that their logic is to help bad wrestlers by giving them a great gimmick, and vice versa? :-\
WWE logic :(
Kane Knight
07-26-2004, 06:40 PM
Just think. If you throw enough superstars at a gimmick, you can get it over for a whole two weeks before people stop souring on it.
Is this a success? Or just proof that if you market something heavily enough, you can make it popular for fifteen minutes?

It's affirmative action's fault.
They're now required, by law, to push equality. The worst wrestlers, therefore, need massive pushes.
DAMN YOU, GOVERNMENT!

I don't think it would be all that bad. PBS still has an entire show called Nova, and Marvel didn't say anything about it.
Speaking of which, if I met Stan Lee in person, I'd wrap my arm around him and thank him for creating Spiderman....and then I'd kick him in the nuts for creating Stripperella.

First they make Nova cut his hair because he was looking too much like HHH, only Nova kicks more ass. Now he's Skip minus the only thing that kept him straight, Sunny. Excuse me while I whip this out...

legendkiller mentioned draws. You have to understand, there are only a few draws in wrestling hisotry. Austin, Hogan, HBK, Bret, HHH, Rock, Taker, Flair, Foley and a few others. Gimmicks like Eugene, Heel Doink, Val Venis, Honky Tonk, Adonis, JYD, Kane etc... were not drawing gimmicks, but they added to the show as a whole and they did get over with the crowd. Now, did people pay money just to see these guys? NO. They usually paid money to see the guys mentioned at the top. These "gimmicks" added to the show however and got the crowd into the show as a whole.
Thing with Eugene was that it might have been a draw if they didn't milk the character so fast. Who knows what would of happened.
Now would Nova be a draw with any other gimmick or just being himself? Probably Not. So, just give the gimmick a chance and we'll see what happens. I could see it working if they went heel with it.

I thought this was bullshit until I listened to the bug I planted in the WWE writing room.
Writer 1: "All right, so we gotta come up with a gimmick for that Mike Moraldo kid."
Writer 2: "Well, he's pretty good in the ring and came up with a ton of innovative maneuvers... how about we give him a "Man of a Thousand Moves" persona and stick him in the Cruiserweight division to liven things up... even put on some great matches with other athelets like Paul London or even that Akio when he comes back?"
Writer 1: "Nah, that'll never work. That's just horrible. Got anything else?"
Writer 2: "Well... Rico's out because of injuries, why don't we give him Rico's gimmick?"
Writer 1: "That's brilliant! But we can't just copy it, or else the fans will know."
Writer 2: "I know! We'll make him Richard Simmons! That way, the fans will think he's a fresh new character and will never see the similarities!"
Writer 1: "By George, that's brilliant! Lets take a break!"
Writer 2: "Yes! But when we come back, we gotta figure out who to job Jericho to next."
Writer 1: "Yeah, we've done HHH, Austin, Orton, Batista, Palumbo, Rosey, Tajiri, Mae Young, Stephanie's pit bull, a parrot, a tub of tapioca, a Vegas showgirl, Dark Kane, and a fly, so we're kind of running out of options."

PBS has a show called Nova.
Trademark infringement only works if there's some grounds for marketing confusion.
People will not confuse the PBS show for the comic book.
People might confuse a super hero named Nova in wrestling with a super hero named Nova in the Comics.
That, my friends, is the difference between no suit and whoipping suit.
And considering WWE just sued Marvel over the whole "hulk" thing, it'd be a REALLY bad idea to push it.
And yes, Lee's gotta pay for Strippparella, but not too dearly, because he created some awesome comics before he hit his midlife crisis.

But seriouslly, if they do pair him up with Rico...I, for one, will be laughing my stoned ass off. Hilarity would surely insue. So lets give the gimmick a chance before we piss on it.

I think, like most things that we grew to love in ECW, we should forget about that old Nova, leave it in the past and admire it for what it was. ECW is dead. We all have to move on, and Nova is doing it...
...but as a fitness instructor?
