DISCUSSION - Should Triple H face Shawn Micahels for the WWE title at Wrestlemania?
Personally - I found the match between HBK and HHH to be quite good tonight. HBK did an excellent job in carrying the match. However - it got me thinking.......should these two re-kindle their rivalry and face one another at Wrestlemania?.......for the title?
At Royal Rumble, I think Triple H and HBK should have a rematch. Another hard fought battle occurs, but Triple H wins via screwjob in the end (Batista interference?). A few nights later, HBK gets some measure of revenge by cleanly defeating Batista. He then re-focuses his attention towards Triple H. The two continue to build their rivalry leading to a title match at Wrestlemania.
In the end, Shawn Michaels cleanly defeats Triple H and wins the title. Shawn Michaels retires WITH the WWE title the very next night (which then causes the WWE to have ONE world champion......who appears on both shows....for the company).
Here is why I like the idea of HBK and Triple H feuding for the title at Mania
1)HBK is probably the only guy who can get a great match out of Triple H now.
2)HBK is probably the only guy that Triple H would be willing to put over cleanly
3)Shawn Michaels can literally retire "on top" a la John Elway style by winning the title at Mania. For a guy who's had to put over many guys at Mania' throughout his career (HBK actually has a losing record at Mania' if I'm not mistaken), this would be the perfect send off for arguably the greatest wrestler of all-time.
4)Shawn Michaels and Triple H already have a HUGE history with one another. The WWE can hype the sh</>it out of this. They can talk about EVERYTHING.....from when HHH and HBK were fellow degenerates, to present day.
After Triple H jobs to Shawn Michaels, Triple H can then become a part-time wrestler himself (hope to god).........and focus more on movies or 'full-time booking'.
What happens with Goldberg?
So - what happens with Bill Goldberg? I say move him to Smackdown. Smackdown is in need of star power. That's where Goldberg comes in. The WWE can easily 'play it off' as Goldberg's contract expired and as result, has defected to Smackdown.
As I mentioned in my other thread, Smackdown has more jobbers and 'less established' wrestlers than RAw. Therefore, the WWE can freely push Goldberg like he was in WCW. The WWE can also build Smackdown around the "inevitable" Goldberg vs. Lesnar match at Wrestlemania.....for the Smackdown WWE title.
As I mentioned in the other thread, moving Goldberg is advantageous in a lot of ways.
-Gives SD much needed star power
-Avoids potential friction between Goldberg/Triple H&HBK.......since Triple H and HBK play a part in booking now.
-Gives the fans what they want in terms of a potential Lesnar/Goldberg match
-Allows a greater chance in seeing the likes of RVD and Jericho being pushed as main-event faces in the future.
Wrestlemania 20 matches (some matches I wouldn't mind seeing)
WWE title - Brock Lesnar vs. Bill Goldberg
World title - Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels
Mick Foley, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Randy Orton, Dave Batista, Ric Flair (street fight)
Undertaker vs. Kane
Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit.
Chris Jericho vs. Christian
[b]Speaking of Kurt Angle, I'd like to see him turn heel again when he comes back (jealousy of Goldberg 'taking his spot'?). [b]Angle reforms Team Angle, and feuds with Benoit (Benoit goes over at Mania).
Angle is also far more entertaining as a heel IMO.
That is, if Trips is still World champ heading into Wrestlemania.
Please, don't...

The only person Michaels has ever put over at WrestleMania is Austin, and that's because he was retiring, and pretty much HAD to lose to Austin.

Michaels also put over Nash at Mania XI
I dont think HBK-HHH would work for Mania just because its too far away. We've already seen one great match on RAW last night, and then we'll likely see a rematch at RR, IMO having another match at Mania is too much for a fued that people have seen a hundred times (seemingly). If there was a story going in, like say HBK had never beat HHH, then you might have something, but we've seen everything from these guys, so I dont see how that would be a special match for Mania.
The other problem I have with the scenario is HBK retiring as champ. I am dead against ANYONE retiring as champ. To me thats like the worst idea a booker can come up with, because the guy who retires looks like he's dominant over everyone else, its almost like Austin stunning everyone every week on RAW with no chance of a reciept.
I dont know who HHH should face, I mean they really have killed all the challengers on RAW. I mean you got Jericho turning face, but I dont know if that will happen quick enough to do the turn and then to build him up for a match with HHH in 3 months.
Then you have RVD, who is a fam favourite and would get over huge challenging for the title in NYC, but like everyone else he's been burried and would need a huge push over the next 6-8 weeks, which I dont see happening.
I know I've read a couple of stories about Edge coming over to RAW post Mania to fued with HHH, which makes sense to me, but thats after Mania.
I agree with the thought process on Goldberg. I think Goldberg should enter the RR as per order of the Board of Directors. We would assume he's a RAW guy, but after winning the match he would show up on RAW and tell Bischoff he's signed with SD, give him a Spear and leave the show. Like Heyman said that would give SD a much needed superstar, and set up Goldberg-Lesnar which is still the rumoured match.

Before seeing last night's match, I definitely would've said no to this question. But the way HBK looked last night has me believing in him once again, I think he's still got a few good years left in him. If HBK & HHH can have another great title match at RR like they had last night, then another one at WMXX, I think that would be great for the company and the fans.
But who should win the belt at RR, and who should win the belt at WMXX? Assuming that it's HHH/HBK going for it.
I believe this would be a great time to give HBK "one last hurrah." He could win the title a RR and hold on to it for a few months, including retaining it at WMXX.

Whats funny is that both Benoit and Guerrero are off the radar in terms of title matches.
