I watched City Lights a few days ago in Film As Lit, and I fucking loved that movie. The physical comedy was so genius in it. The boxing scene is one of the best sequences ever, IMO.
This turned me on to getting some more Chaplin movies, so I'm getting The Charlie Chaplin Collection Vol. 1 (The Great Dictator/Limelight/The Gold Rush/Modern Times) where 3 our of the 4 of those movies are on the IMDB top 250.
What is your opinion on Chaplin movies?

Chaplin is a comedic genius.
City Lights is awesome, such a great love story. Modern Times is just hilarious.
If you enjoy his stuff, try watching some Buster Keaton too.

I loved City Lights. We started watching The Circus today. The part with the mirrors had me LMFAO. Gonna check out his Autobiography from the library on the 9th when my other books are due back. I've decided with my limited budget and equipment, I'm gonna write a script as a silent film homage. I'm really into this project.
Yeah, I'm gonna check out some Keaton in time. Wanna get really good with Chaplin, first.
Not my thing at all really never watched a whole one just couldn't get into it.

Eventually going to start renting Chaplin stuff from library. They have a good collection of his stuff. First I'll probably finish some other foreign stuff and go with some more W.C. Fields. Looking forward to watching Chaplin though. I am a fan of intelligent physical comedy.
"intelligent physical comedy" ie a bloke getting twated in the head
