Basically this is how it breaks down
Mets get Manny Ramirez
D-Rays get Mike Cameron and two prospects from the Red Sox( one for sure is Hanley Ramirez)
Red Sox get: Danny Baez and Aubrey Huff
That looks about right but im not sure if Cameron goes to the D-Rays

Also you fucked up the proposed deal badly
Red Sox get:
OF/3B Aubrey Huff
OF Mike Cameron
Mets get:
OF Manny Ramirez
RHP Danys Baez
Devil Rays get:
C Kelly Shoppach (minors)
RHP Anibel Sanchez (minors)
But at this point the deal is pretty much dead

Yeah theres a bunch of rumors right now. Some sound good, some are funny.
There's a couple of Manny/Mets deals, most of them just have the Sox getting Cameron and a prospect or two. Doesn't help the sox this year, but frees up the money to resign Damon.
One I wasn't sure how I felt was.
Manny & Damon for Beltran and Glavine.
Part of what factors in a Manny deal is after this deadline he becomes a 10/5 player, so if the sox did want to trade him next year, Manny would have to approve any deal.
I just don't see a deal happening, the Sox front office and the Mets front office don't get along and the Mets are really the only possible home for Manny (money wise and willing to take him and his "baggage".

This is the "rumor deal" I just heard on the radio.
Of course the holdup is Manny's contract.
I'm ok with this, assuming they use some of the money they save from Manny to re-sign Damon and then they'll have leftover to either get a decent LF or re-sign Muellar.

I love that trade for the Mets...as long as the D-Rays don't go asking us to give up any of our top prospects again at the last second, if they do they can go fuck themselves and keep Baez (I'm not willing to part with Lastings Milledge or Yusmeiro Petit)

Shit...reportedly the D-Rays ARE asking for Petit/Milledge, in return they'll add Julio Lugo in addition to Baez
Lugo/Baez are NOT worth Petit/Milledge, I hope Omar Minaya realizes that LaMar is trying to rape the farm system again and tells him that they can keep Baez/Lugo......I'd deal Petit/Milledge to the Sox if I had to to get Manny, but not to the D-Rays for a couple of ok players

It's a 3way, the Mets would be getting Manny.

I didn't hear about Milledge being involved. If the Sox can nab him for Hanley Ramirez and axe Mannys contract it's worth it. Milledge is Hanley times 10

"Rumor is" the mets, sox, rays day is still on and Manny's agent is coming in today (soon) to meet with Manny to go over his contract and possible renegotiate some parts of it to make it easier for the Mets to handle.
VonErich Lives

one thing they brought up, is Huff is a free agent at seasons end, and the sox get two 1st round picks as compensation is he leaves via free agency.
New "rumor" being reported.
Sox get: Cameron, Heilman & Huff
Mets get: Manny, Baez & Lugo
D-rays get 4 prospects.
ESPN's reporting the Mets walked away not over money but because they didn't want to deal Lastings Milledge who the Red Sox wanted, but now the Mets might part with him, but it will require the sox to deal Kelly Shoppach and right-hander Anibal Sanchez .
ESPN is also reporting the Blue Jays called the Sox about Manny.

It's a 3way, the Mets would be getting Manny.
According to ESPN the trade is close to dead because the D-Rays are getting a little greedy.....once the deal officially dies (if it does), I think the Mets should just offer up Cameron/Milledge for Manny (they need offense and they need it now) and leave the D-Rays out of it
Though, if the 3-way goes down, though it would royally suck to lose Milledge and likely Petit as well, I'm loving the thought of this lineup:
SS Reyes
2B Lugo
CF Beltran
LF/RF (dunno who'd play where) Ramirez
LF/RF Floyd
3B Wright
C Piazza
1B Mientkiewicz/Woodward/Cairo/Anderson/Offerman/whoever the fuck else plays there

Cameron and Milledge for Manny is an awful trade for the Mets
Manny & Damon for Beltran and Glavine.

Sorry, but the ONLY reason I would justify trading Manny is so the Sox can afford Damon resigning. Otherwise, Carlos "I dropped the ball" Beltran and Glavine aren't worth the deal.

Cameron and Milledge for Manny is an awful trade for the Mets
Not really...the team is in serious need of a big bat NOW, and Manny is one of the best offensive players in the league...and it would allow them to get rid of Mike "300 strikeouts a game" Cameron
The defense will take a bit of a shot, but Beltran at least has great range, and Floyd hasn't been doing too terribly
As for Milledge.....well, if the Sox wanna dump Manny badly enough/Manny wants out badly enough maybe the Mets could get away with trading a vet like Glavine or Looper or someone, or even a lesser prospect. Milledge is the last prospect I'd wanna trade, but if it's absolutely necessary, then do it and just hope that Milledge doesn't turn out to be as good as everyone thinks he will be.

You have know idea how fucked the Mets would be in 2008 if they picked up Manny's contract. There is no reason to trade away your future for a quick-fix. Why do the Mets need to win in 2005?

Well, it's not so much about 2005, IMO.....I'm thinking to next year when Floyd and Cameron will still be under contract and Milledge likely won't be up before September unless there are a ton of injuries.....I won't mind Floyd but I personally can't stand Cameron.....Victor Diaz COULD be used in RF but Mets management seem to wanting to convert him to a 1st baseman.....plus when Piazza likely goes that'll be one less bat in the lineup
Ehh after thinking about it for awhile, if the Mets are certain they can get a big bat in either the OF, 1B, or 2B....then they can probably do without Manny......yet if they can get the Sox to cover some of Manny's contract then it'll probably be a good move
Ehhh whatever....this confusion is why I'm not the GM.....I have faith that Omar will make the right move and will support his decision.

Well, good thing your justifications have nothing to do with logic and baseball.
I like how you pick on Beltrans feilding and forget about Manny's, Fielding, Baserunning, Running (or not running) to first.
Damon's a better fielder and hits for better average and better OBP he's a leadoff hitter.
There about same in steals, which also factors on how a team uses them.
Beltran has better power which would help replace Manny's bat .
Then factor Glavine a decent pitcher, nothing what he once was, but a decent pitcher and the sox need SP depth and Glavine would help.
So, it would be a good deal, for those reasons.
That being said, haven't heard anything on that one in awhile, keep hearing the other 3-way deal, so I doubt this one is on the table.

Just a note, John Henry who is the majority owner has gone on record many times saying he would never pay for a player to play for another team.
Does that mean it wont happen, of course not, but I wouldn't count on that.

Ahh, never knew that...wasn't really counting on it but I was just sorta playing out all the possibilities
Anyways, I have decided that.....regardless of whether the Mets get Manny or not, the one thing I want done before the deadline is getting Mike Cameron off the team.....he had yet another 3-strikeout game today, and at this point I'd be willing to sell him for anyone (or anything, for that matter)....I know Cameron has ALWAYS had a history of K'ing too much, but it's getting ridiculous. I'd much rather have Diaz up and playing everyday, regardless of how big a defensive liability he is (since he will be no matter where you put him anyway)

Yeah, someone suggested today that Cameron would be the long term replacement if the Sox don't sign Damon.
I threw something at them. Cameron is strictly a body till the end of the season then the Sox let him go.

Manny trade is dead.
Manny came into the pre-game press confrence.
Basiclly said, he's happy to be here, wants to play for the Red Sox in 2005, etc...
The interesting note was he said "2005", so don't be shocked if they revisit the trade after the season.
