Yeah his reaction seemed to be either: He was unaware of who Ethan is, or he has more than one "spy" in the group and realizes Jack may be on to them.
The thing is, Ethan seemed almost superhuman during his fight with Jack and them, these Others seem to be simply human. I dunnoooo.
Zeke was also holding a German Luger, I wonder if the time period of WWII could possibly tie into this somehow?

WTF was up with that long close up fade out thing they did with Locke about half way through? It was like focusing on the dog with shifty eyes or something, ridiculous.
This episode proved that Ecko really has become the new Locke. People go up to him for advice and he tells them a story and is relevant in one way or another. He answers questions at face value instead of what you "really" asked him. He does weird stuff and still seems to care about the island. The list could go on..

That may be why Locke is behaving so strangely. Eko has sort of usurped his position as resident spiritual advisor. Locke might be becoming jealous, and Angry John could be a really interesting character turn.
Although this episode was pretty boring in terms of not much actually happening, I think they're building to something bigger later on. It's the "Lost" way. The beauty of long-form storytelling.

Best part of the last episode was when Locke just knocked the shit out of Charlie. Good stuff.
This episode was probably one of the worst they've shown. No progression at all and Charlie is becoming rather annoying. Locke is acting completely out of character. Unless he begins to turn evil or lose his mind or something, he's being hypocritical.
What do you guys think is the deal with Libby and Hurley? My first instinct is that she was a gold digger or something and followed him to Australia. Dunno
The theories seem to be generating around when he said "Do I know you?" and that it will link the fact that he was in an institution and she's a psychologist. Makes sense.
Also, from what I read, it seems that the next several flashbacks will be (not in this order) Locke, Sawyer and Claire. No mention of Libby's assumed flashback yet.
Also, next week is a repeat. We just dealt with 5 weeks straight of this shit, only 3 weeks ago. Getting old.

Yeah pretty good episode, thought it was a bit over the top when Sawyer first started his speach but by the end of the show I thought it was great and was a great and realistic way to go with it.
I marked out for the tie in to Kate's story and Hurley's comment about how they could be in any time.

wwe2222
02-16-2006, 12:10 PM
I was reading on another site that the symbols on the counter are hieroglyphics...they mean something like certain death...
also...
the 'numbers' have something to do with a constellation which also corresponds with the symbols....some real interesting stuff they have going...
the sawyer/hurley thing was pretty much pointless, but I like both of them, so I didnt mind too much
also, no new episode until March 1 (2 weeks)
wwe2222
02-16-2006, 12:22 PM
Highlight below to read what i was talking about with the constellations...also,the picture of the girl that was held up by the army officer was a picture of Kate, dont know if anyone noticed that.
There are six constellations of Apollo
1. Cygnus = swan
2. Sagitta = arrow
3. Corvus = crow
4. Crater = goblet
5. Ophiuchus = serpent handler
6. Orion = the hunter
These numbers helps astronomers locate constellations in the sky
M4 - the constellation Scorpius
M8 - Sagittarius (archer)
M15 - Pegasus (winged horse)
M16 - Serpens (serpent? not familiar with this one)
M23 - Sagittarius (archer)
M42 - Orion (hunter)
M108 - Ursa Major (bear)
4 8 15 16 23 42
Add up to 108
108*5 = 540
(each shift is supposed to last 540 days)
Each symbol corresponds to one of the bunkers. (except the one they're in)
I did not theorize this, somebody else did, just wanted to share it with you folks.
Buzzkill
02-16-2006, 02:27 PM
First of all, the producers have said explicitly that there is no real answer behind the numbers, and that there is no deep meaning hidden within the actual digits. Also, we never see the 2nd hieroglyphic, and they dont mean certain death.
wwe2222
02-16-2006, 03:23 PM
well....just food for thought thinkin about theories on the show...i hadnt read the producers saying there was no meaning behind the numbers....thats kind of disappointing though
I think the Hurley/Sawyer scenes were put in to show that Hurley isn't losing weight because he actually did horde some of the food for himself. I remember reading somewhere that they were going to explain why he isn't losing weight in some fashion soon and now they did. Also, they were continuing to explain to us that Sawyer isn't pussified now and is still a bastard through crushing the frog. Josh Holloway in a recent interview stated how he went to the Lost writers/producers, etc and wanted to make sure that his character didn't become too nice and friendly.
Also, the captured 'other' said his name was Henry Gale and he traveled to the island on a balloon. Dorothy's last name in the Wizard of Oz was Gale and she had an uncle Henry and she traveled in a balloon. Dunno if that was just a clevel throwin from a writer or if that's supposed to show that he actually is an other with a madeup story or not.

Good ep tonight. I knew that Henry had sent A-L, Sayid, and Charlie into a trap, but I got chills during his monologue to Jack and Locke. Michael Emerson nailed that speech. I've been a fan of his since he played William Hinks the serial killer on "The Practice" about five years back. Plus, he was in "Saw," which is the rare horror movie that I actually liked.

Henry could very well still be one of the others. There was a crashed plane on the island, why not a balloon too? If the group hadn't already found that plane, Henry could've just said he was flying drugs out of africa and his plane crashed. He'd lead them to the plane and they'd find the drugs and believe he was telling the truth. I'm sure the others are very aware of what is on the island, and they will use it to their advantage. Finding a balloon doesn't necessarily mean he's innocent.

come on, that was pretty easy to spot. It was a classic wrestling heel turn  I called my mom and told her that would happen before it did and she ws like "Michael would never do that" lol. He's got to get his boy back though and they probably told him to do it.
Didn't see Cindy getting shot though. That shocked me. That sucks.
Yea, I called the turn as soon as they showed him last week.
Libby getting shot was kinda weird, but she's on some new show on a different channel, so it doesn't really come as much of a shocker. It's just kinda strange because it seemed like there was a lot more to her story.

Did they show Libby being dead in the previews for next week? I know they showed Ana-Lucia, I wonder if her having the pillows or whatever she had meant anything.
Also, does seem kind of weird if both are dead. They both seemed to start getting involved a lot more.

GREAT episode tonight. They did an excellent job of explaining a lot of the things that have happened recently. And I'm pretty pissed about Libby dying. But, hey, if they're building to Hurley going nuts again, this is as good a way as any to do it.
Michael sort of had me going for a while tonight. I was actually thinking that there might have been a fourth group on the island, which Henry was a member of. Michael stumbled across their land, and that's why he didn't see the kids. It also explains why Henry went after AL and not Locke (maybe some of the guys that Eko killed when they first got there were actually members of Henry's group, not "The Others").
And then they went and swerved me by killing off the tailie girls. Wow. Killer writing.
Plus, edgy Harold Perrineau is a good thing.
Oh, also, for the people saying that they can't kill Libby, because there's still stuff to resolve, they did the same thing with Shannon.

Looks like those arrests for drunken driving in Hawaii screwed over Michelle and Cynthia. They honestly could have given Libby a flashback instead of giving AL a second one to even things out (that's assuming Libby is dead)

When you click on the monitors on that site you have to click them each of the 6 numbers right? Like the first one is 4, then 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. They really go all out on this stuff. Better be a good season finale.
Also it looks like there are a ton of tie ins with Sprite. The Sublymonal site is owned by Sprite, the title has LYMON capitalized, the clock on the Hanso site turns to OB:EY when your computer clock hits one of the numbers, Sprite is a sponser of some of the Hanso advertisements and they have a new ad campaign that deals with the brain.

Looks like for Season 3, it will premiere in the fall with 7 episodes, then a huge 13 week break, and then new eps resume in Jan or Feb with uninterrupted new eps until the finale in May. Here's an article from LA Times
---------------------------------------------------------------------
When it comes to "Lost," it's all about listening to the fans, McPherson said. The drama series about marooned passengers on a mysterious island will return in the fall in its current Wednesday time slot with seven original episodes, and then go on hiatus until January or February, when it will return to the Wednesday night schedule with original episodes until May.
During "Lost's" hiatus, ABC will launch "Day Break," starring Taye Diggs as a detective who literally lives the same day over and over -- and it's a bad one -- for 13 weeks.
"'Lost' is a show people really love. They make an appointment for [it]," McPherson said. "They absolutely just get furious when it's in repeat. So we want to be able to say to the audience, it's going to be on for this block here -- then bring it back and it will run straight through."
The show's executive producers, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, said today that they're excited about the new schedule and will design the third season around the new airtime order.
"Our audience was incredibly frustrated with repeats," Cuse wrote in an e-mail. "Now when 'Lost' is on, it's on. And, the audience doesn't have to wait all the way until the spring for the show to return, which given the cliffhanger nature of our finale would be too long."
The new non-repeat schedule "allows us to really keep the momentum of our particular type of storytelling," he added.

So (IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT YET, STOP READING THIS POST)...
- Are Eko, Locke, and Desmond dead? Was the Swan blown apart when the electromagnetism was released? The "Quarantine" sign was blown all the way to the beach, and that was outside the hatch.
- Where did The Others send Michael & Walt? Is there actual "salvation" that way? Will they wind up in Portugal or something?
- Come to think of it, was that Portuguese that Pen's men were speaking? So, Pen used her money to finance two Portuguese guys to look for...what, electromagnetic pulses so she can find Desmond?
- Why the hell was that bird yelling "HURLEY?" Was this another incarnation of the smoke monster, sending a warning?
- Where are Sayid, Sun, and Jin? Are they close enough where they might be able to either intercept Mike & Walt's boat? Or possibly to save Jack, Sawyer, and Kate?
I could keep going, but...DAMN! Now I have to wait four months for anything resembling closure?

So much stuff going on. We learn Desmond brought down the plane, etc...When the electromagnetism was happening I thought that maybe another plane would fall. Still could be possible next season I guess because I've read some places they want to bring in a couple more women to replace those who've died.
I missed part of the last couple minutes though. I saw the two guys and then they called Desmond's wife or whatever, what was that all about? How did they "locate" Desmond? Or is that just another question to be answered.

Yeah, but Locke and Libby are different. Killing off Locke would almost be like killing of Jack or Kate.

Holy shit this show is fucking awesome.
I dunno what to say about the finale other than I loved it. I was pleased, stuff was answered and more questions raised. Too long a wait for next season.
If Desmond is dead I'm gonna be pissed off. He's been my favorite character since he debuted, and he barely did much then. But he's just so fucking cool. Locke and Eko dying would suck too, but I doubt they will. Certainly not Locke.

Not sure that you needed the black font there, Boondock, since Des has been in the commercials for this week's episode. Better safe than sorry, I suppose.
I know, I wasn't sure. Another board I goto, the people are fucking anal about that since a lot of them don't watch the previews/commercials and like going into the show without any idea of what's to come.

DESMOND AND KELVIN KNOW HOW TO MAKE THE HATCH HAVE A FALSE SHUTDOWN. BUT IT JUST DOES IT RANDOMLY WITH LOCKE AND HENRY. GOOD EXPLANATION.
It wasn't random with them, it happened to keep the people in the hatch from seeing who dropped the supply crate.

One of the greatest episodes in the history of television from one of the greatest series. I'm going to be so frustrated having to wait 4 months

I hope Locke makes it. Lets face it, he's the man!
Desmond is a promising new character too. He should live.

I lean towards Des, Eko, and Locke being alive. Either they're all dead, or all alive, and I doubt they'd kill off both Locke and Eko at once.

Since Desmond seems to be the key to alot of things, I really doubt he died.

I read that they are considering making him a regular next season. Which would be awesome.

Rumours are also floating that (spoilers, I guess) Henry Gale will be a regular next season.

So Kelvin was in Sayid's flash back but he wasnt Kate's dad, right?
RoXer

Nah, he was the one who taught Sayid how to interrogate.

God damint. When you said "Kate" and "flashback" I thought of that horse and how they have not explained the horse, polar bear, dead zombie father being on the island.

Since Desmond seems to be the key
Oh I get it. Because he had a key to shut down the count down. Good one.

So, do they have to hit the button now since Desmond used the key? And if they do, how will they do it since Locke broke the computer? So shouldn't this be happening in another 108 minutes when season 3 starts?
Or, when Des used the key, he permently let go of that charge and its never coming back? What?

Oh yeah, those tubes of notebooks dont do anything either.
Im guessing they are trying to say that the guys in the other hatch were the psychological experiment

No, they don't have to push the button anymore. The key released the charge and got rid of the need for the button.
... and they DID explain the polar bears.
