And nary a mention of the 6-3 game tonight for the Oil against the Sharks. Sharks went up 2-0, Edmonton scored, then San Jose made it 3-1. Then the Oil scored FIVE unanswered goals...

Hmm...what's that I smell? Shark fin cooked in Oil? Oh I hope they take it to them in the HP pavilion and then win it at home. I don't know what they'll do, if they win, against a well rested Ducks team but for now...savour the moment....

Yeah, like he said, Buffalo was definitely the better team.

Right that's why 3 out of the 4 Sabres wins went to OT. That's why each game was decided by one goal, that's why the Sens outshot the Sabres in the large majority of the games. Look I'm not aguing that Buffalo didn't deserve to win this series (the Sens screwed themselves), but to try and make it sound like the Sabres dominated the Sens or something is crap.

That being said my hat goes off to the Sabres for taking advantage of Ottawa's implosion and for their amazing work at trapping the Heatley/Spezza/Eaves line in their own zone a lot in game 5.

There is one definitive in the series and that was Ryan Miller played better then Emry. Emry didn't play bad, actually he played well but Miller is unbeatable.

Lara, the Sabres were the better team. I don't care if 3 of the Buffalo wins were in OT. They were wins. Win = better team. Ottawa was the better team on only one night. Ottawa underachieved once again. Come playoffs they play just well enough to loose. That's not a sign of a great team on the rise.

Enjoy your regular seasons, they do well there.

The ONLY time that a team advanced to the next round this year, that was not the better team, were the Canes over the Habs. The Habs outplayed the Canes in that series, but the refs and bounces all went the Canes way.

BWHAHAHAHAHA

Oh Man I dunno what Rutherford is trying to do here but man this is a classic quote

(CP) - Eleven teams have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs and Jim Rutherford believes his Carolina Hurricanes beat the best of them.
But the general manager isn't talking about the New Jersey Devils.
"No disrespect to Philadelphia, Ottawa and New Jersey, they're all good teams, but some teams are a little better than others and I think Montreal is one of those teams," Rutherford said from Raleigh, N.C.

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Playoffs/Carolina/2006/05/16/1582729-cp.html

I'll take the Sens or Devils over the Canadiens and hell if his quote expands to the west the Red Wings, Avs, Stars, Flames, right now thanks.

I might even take the Rangers and Flyers too. Not saying Montreal is a bad team but they are hardly the best team to be eliminated from the playoffs.

Well, another fixed Stanley Cup Finals, ladies and gentlemen. Gary Bettman's vision for holding the Canadian teams out of Cup possesion continues. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Gary told Carolina to lose Games 5 and 6 on purpose just to screw Edmonton in Game 7(which he secretly did), to give the hicks an opinion on a game they don't really care about(casual fans looking for TV time and false sympathy from NBC). Carolina gets no congratu-fucking-lations from me, because I'm tired of no Canadian dominion over the NHL, where our national image should supersede American money.

I curse all NHL teams in the southeast from NHL existence. I'm through with agreeing with anything you pieces-of-shit want out of Canada, without keeping your hands off the Cup. A few things:

- The Bertuzzi/Luongo deal is probably the biggest in years. I think it will work out well for both teams. (It might not help Florida as a team actually, because Luungo was their backbone, but the change of scenery will definitely be good for Bertuzzi, and when he is on his game, he is a threat.)

- Rod Brind'Amour signed a new five-year deal with the Hurricanes.

- Chris Pronger has apparently asked to be traded out of Edmonton for personal reasons.

- The NHL entry draft is today.

It's looking to be an interesting off-season, and I'm already looking forward to the start of the 2006-07 season this fall.

- Chris Pronger has apparently asked to be traded out of Edmonton for personal reasons.

That's right samichna, Pronger's agent has officially filed a trade request for Pronger. Peca and Roli are the other two top players that appear to want out of Edmonton. But Lowe has offered Roloson's agent a deal as he wants to secure the #1 goalie...

My opinion? Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out Pronger, pretty shitty if you ask me but hey - that's how big time stars get what they want...

Apparently the leafs are the top running team for him. It's reported that Edmonton wanted Kaberle and Steen but the Leafs weren't willing to give up Steen but instead offered Stajan but Edmonton refused. There is a good chance that if McCabe doesn't sign that deal by July 1st the Leafs will actually execute that deal because Kaberle's no trade clause doesn't kick in until July 1st.

God I hope the Leafs get Pronger. He's unbelieveable.

I have mixed opinions on the Dmitra trade, as O'Sullivan has put up some huge numbers in the minors so far, but it really is time for the Wild to start winning some games and this move helps that. Also, Peca apparently wants to come back to his hometown club.

As for the Luongo deal, I am kind of out of touch with hockey, but I don't really like it. No doubt Luongo is one of the top goalies out there, but it seems like Vancouver could have gotten a good goalie without giving up a star player like Bertuzzi. I'm just glad to see Bertuzzi gone from the division.

You are out of touch with hockey. Bert was all but finished in Vancouver, he had an abysmal year, he just didn't show up at all, to get one of the best goaltenders in the NHL for a guy who everyone knew the Nucks wanted gone is amazing. If Luongo sings long term then the Nucks raped Florida.

I don't know the exact stats, but I would have to assume that Minnesota is the biggest supplier of NHL players among the 50 states, so that puts a lot of guys' names out there. Phil Housley was one that they passed on a few years ago, now it is Parrish and somebody else. The only one that I am really pissed about though was Modano, who apparently would have come back last year but we simply weren't interested.

Jovonaski is washed up. Well not so much washed up, but he's often injured anymore. Here's the rub for Vancouver though, they've just lost 2 more NHL caliber defensemen. After losing 2 last year, this doesn't bode well for them. They better have a game plan in the works for signing defensive free agents.

I was hoping for Vancouver's sake that they'd land Chara. Chara signed so quickly though, it's almost like he just wanted anywhere but Ottawa. I used to be a big Bruin fan, but after the deals that shipped off Samsonov and especially Thorton last year, I lost any remaining faith in them. Also, if I was a player, I'd avoid Boston like the plague. They have such a poor track record in their dealings with players.

I noticed Ottawa signing Gerber to replace Hasek hasn't got any mention yet. Hopefully Emery gets a shot at platooning for the #1 spot as I feel he earned it.

Another goal tending deal, one that I think is the sleeper this off season is Marc Denis going to Tampa Bay. Denis will be huge down there with the Bolts.

I found something. I'll post what I just read.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Star defenseman Chris Pronger was traded by the Edmonton Oilers to the Anaheim Ducks on Monday for right wing Joffrey Lupul, defenseman Ladislav Smid and three draft picks.

Pronger, the 2000 NHL MVP with St. Louis, led the Oilers to the Stanley Cup finals last month. They fell just short of a championship, losing Game 7 to the Carolina Hurricanes.

After Edmonton's surprising run was over, Pronger asked the team for a trade, citing personal reasons. His wife reportedly disliked living in Edmonton.

"At the end of the season I sat down with my family and discussed which way we wanted to go and in what direction," he said during a conference call. "And this was the direction we were going to go in, and whether fans agreed with it or not that's the direction we took."

Anaheim jumped at the opportunity, sending its first-round pick in the 2007 draft, a 2008 second-round pick and a conditional draft choice to the Oilers along with Lupul and Smid.

The conditional draft pick will be sent to Edmonton if the Ducks make the Stanley Cup finals next year. This season, Anaheim lost to the Oilers in five games in the Western Conference finals.

"We believe having Chris Pronger join Scott Niedermayer on our blue line gives us two of the top defensemen in the NHL today," Ducks general manager Brian Burke said. "Players of this caliber don't become available very often, especially when they are still in the prime of their career."

The 31-year-old Pronger had 16 assists in the playoffs and scored five goals. During the 2005-06 regular season, he scored 12 goals and had 44 assists in 80 games.

"This was a deal we had to do despite the high price," Burke added. "He provides offense, he's excellent defensively, he's had a leadership role on every team he's played on. He's the whole package and he's got character."

Pronger signed a $31.25 million, five-year contract with Edmonton last summer.

Lupul, 25, is an Edmonton native. He scored 28 goals with 25 assists for the Ducks last season. He also became the first NHL player to cap a four-goal playoff game with an overtime score, doing it in a 4-3 win in Game 3 of the second round against the Colorado Avalanche.

The 20-year-old Smid played three years in the Czech Republic before spending last season with the minor league Portland Pirates.

Pittsburgh didn't really have a good team on paper. They had a bunch of over the hill forwards and one offensive defenceman. Looking back we should of guessed they would suck.

The Ducks have Scott Niedermayer, Chris Pronger, Teemu Selanne, Andy McDonald, and of course some great goaltending. Not to mention they have some great young talent on that team. They will be a contender, no doubt about it. They would be in my top five to win the Cup next year.

Some sports gurus think it'll now be another year before Malkin shows up in Pittsburgh or wherever the team ends up.

And yes, LOL at the Red Wings.

What do you guys think of JP Dumont winning his arbitration case but then being released by the Sabres? These arbitrators are out of touch with the new NHL. Dumont will be lucky to make 2 million next year, wherever he lands.

Man, Blues have added a lot.

They might not have a completely awful season this year.
But they will because they are the Blues

Pittsburgh says he's safe. LOL. I don't know what to think about this. I mean come on, this isn't the USSR, the Russians signed a deal, granted, but.... well they should have worked it out legally. This 'defection' shit is so 1980's.

Nolan going to Phoenix. This is huge for them. Some great pick ups this off season in my mind. I like the direction they are going. I see playoffs for them this season.

I dunno abiut Nolan, he hasn't played in like 3 years. I hope he rebounds, but he's going to get get 1.5 million or something. Seems like a lot of cash for a guy in the cap era that has so much risk. WE'LL SEE.

If you ask me that is a steal.

I can't see this working out real well for Phoenix.

I can. Phoenix is going to be a powerhouse.

Nagy
Doan
Comrie
Roenick
Nolan
Jovo
Boynton

Plus a nice 3rd and 4th line. This team should do real well.

Roenick is all but washed up, Nolan is a question mark, Comrie is overpaid, Boynton is coming off a terrible season (hopefully it was just a fluke), Jovo is great but injury prone

They'll be decent but not a powerhouse, if you want a powerhouse in the west look at the Anahiem Ducks.

I meant getting Nolan, not Phoenix overall.

Powerhouse was a bad choice of words. I mean that they have a good team and should make the playoffs.

Anahiem would be miy pick to win the Cup right now. I agree with you there.

If everything goes well PHX probably finishes around 6-8 or so but there team is high risk, Nolam could flop Roenick could continue to get worse and Jovocop could get hurt as usual.

Bruins sign Patrice Bergeron to a multi-year contract.

Not that that should come to any surprise.
