I've downloaded it. I'm not sure if I like this or PES4 better BUT I can say it plays much more like a real game of football. You can't grab Ronaldo and run through the whole team using just R1. You can still do it it just takes a little more skill. A Passing game is much more effective to break a team down.

As good as Pro Evo is, I don't think it'll ever top Sensible World of Soccer. I still dust off my Amiga 1200 to play that game every month or so.
Still, any new features in Pro Evo yet?

Played the demo quite abt, it's ok although so far the only goals I have scored are headers and rebounds from the keeper.

Freekicks were notoriously difficult in Evo 4, I hope they're made easier in 5. It was such bullshit for your mate to foul outside the box when when you're one-on-one with the keeper, because you rarely ever scored from the free-kick.

Also, have they got rid of that shitty 'keeper standing rooted on the line' thing in PES5?

I had Pro Evo 4 and the season mode was just meh but the game physics and gameplay were incredible and untouchable so I prefered it over fifa2005. With fifa2006 though they kinda made it like Pro Evo 4 gameplay (not exactly but diffently the best of the series thus far) but the manager mode is hella fun...

My last one was beautiful.....ly bad. I saved the replay of it, it was probably the best goal Toure's ever scored, both in video game land and real life.
Pity it was for the other team :(
It went something like shot, save, rebound, secondary shot deflected into the air, 2 people (Campbell and an attacker) go up for a header, it sorta goes between their heads then hits Campbell on the arse, Toure comes in from in front of Campbell to clear the ball and ends up blasting it into his own net from about 3 metres left of the penalty spot :(

I can't wait for it. 1 week to go.
Everyone always plays a new Pro Evo and says "oh it's not as good" but new versions always take a bit of getting used to because they ALWAYS tweak the gameplay to a degree. Usually it's for the best, you just have to get over the fact that you are a bit rubbish at the new version for a while until you master the new gameplay.

BUSTED!
Its alright though thats cool, i just wish you would have told me in the Fifa 2006 topic.
Im a bit meh with Pro Evo, the gameplays pretty good but it still feels like hard work to me. The goals you can score in the game are pretty awesome i admit.
The response times are also like trying to turn a tank - THEY SUCK!
So basically i think the best Pro Evo ever will be on the PS3. And thats probably when i will start liking the game - when the graphics improve and the game gets FASTER. Until then though im happy with Fifa 2006. :D

The only thing the FIFA games have ever had going for them are the licences EA have for all the real team and player names. That's all.
I gave up wasting my money on FIFA games years ago. It's not about being a fanboy, it's about what is true quality (Pro Evo) and what is merely flash and advertising (FIFA).
I am always a fan of substance over hype.

FAIR ENOUGH
I only wish you let me know all this in the other topic. Then i probably would of got on well with you. ;)
I gave up on Fifa years ago and only got this as a rental because it was on my queued game list (i rent games online) and i have to say i was pleasantly suprised. The game plays well, the commentarys great. The games dont finish 11-1 or anything anymore. The games ive played against Sunderland have been close victories = 1-0 2-1 1-1 and so on.
I think its a massive improvement. I mean the graphics could have been far better - they do become great when it zooms in on them but if only it could be like that DURING PLAY.
Well i personally dont like Pro Evo as i say its too slow for me. It really feels like hard work when playing against the CPU. Its not so bad against mates but the CPU seems to know what your doing before you do it.
Thats just my opinion though i respect yours. :y: :D

Got it earlier, you bastards. I wasn't too happy after the first game, as usual, but after a few games I'm starting to love it. It's a lot more realistic, if that's possible. Players battle more for the ball, the tackling is improved, it's much harder to dribble and the shooting has been made easier without any increase in the amount of goals. Games are still very tight.
Free kicks are much better.
El Capitano Gatisto
10-21-2005, 07:43 AM
Oh it's beautiful, beautiful.
They've ironed out all the minor little annoyances from before. The keeper tracks the ball even if it looks to be going wide, sometimes he even saves it if it's just going wide. Player's don't randomly fall over on a constant basis when they are tackled, they battle more. Players don't do that thing where they slip out of your control for 2 or 3 seconds and run on a few yards when they get tackled. Good players hurdle slide tackles from the side or behind. They drop the shoulder and jink past an opponent etc. etc.
Ronaldinho's ludicrous trick is in there too, and he appears to be the only person who can do it. That I have noticed, anyway.

Bought it earlier and had a couple of games. The last Pro Evo I played was 3 and there is so much different.
First game I had against England (I was Italy) and was losing till the 85th minute and then I equalised. Then on the 95th minute I won with a header
Had a couple of dodgy offside decisions already, which caused me to lose to West Midlands Athletic a.k.a Birmingham :o

I suck at it at the moment, but I fucking love it
First game was Scotland vs Saudi Arabia and I managed to throw away a goal lead and lost, but then beat them 2-0.
Its wierd cos when I started I seemed to be only able to score headers, but now I've sorted that out.
It is far more realistic, the game feel is good, it is much harder, but thats not a bad thing. My biggest annoyance is the amount of stupid free kicks that get given against you for such minor things.
Edit mode is awesome, and there are loads of little things that make me pretty damn happy such as giving yellow cards to players who've commited bad fouls but the play has gone on, pretty hot.
Gonna give it a razz on 1 star for a couple of games to try and get used to the handling.

Curently on a four game winning streak online, I love going against the tards who say "I'm gonna beat your ass" etc and then I beat them 5-1
Well to be honest i'm finding it pretty difficult to get going. Sucking masterfully, which is a bitch since i used to think i was alright at all the other pro evo's. I dont get to hammer the game though these days. any tips on good use of tricks to beat men on the wings as i was never any good at using the tricks on any of the previous games i.e the trick y'all use the most and find most effective. And i know its a faggoty lazy question but has any1 pulled off the ronaldhino trick? if so how! cheers lads!
El Capitano Gatisto
10-24-2005, 04:59 PM
I'm finding it a lot easier against the computer than before. Suits my game a lot better. You can only really beat men with players who have good dribbling stats or technique, which is the way it should be in my opinion. Using R2 to go past rather than R1 is a good way of keeping the ball under control with a good dribbler.
The Ronaldinho trick is just tap R2 3 times, with Ronaldinho. He seems to be the only one who can do it.
I love this game. A lot tougher than usual but the gameplay is so much better, the graphics have improved and I just love all the little things like the way a loose ball is contested, the placed shot, the new skills you can do, etc.
Cheers for that pal. I agree that certain players should only be able to skin people. I think I'm struggling more because i got coaxed into playing fifa 06 for a full weekend, which gives you the false impression that you can pull off amazing skills with peter crouch. Plus i press X to change man, and hit square to cross, gotta get out of the bad habbit.
would be fun to play you all online eventually. i have no idea how easy/hard it is to play ps2games online or if its any extra cost or whatever
i'm off to try the ronny trick

It’s pretty much the single best footie game till the next Pro Evo.
Hard as fuck, to be sure, but the rewards are smacking in a volley from 30 yards out, skinning the defence with Henry before side footing it past the keeper and breaking a cunts leg through sheer spite when Saudi Arabia are beating the Republic 2-1 in injury time. HAH.
I love the fact that its all about the passing. That the strength of a player is a consideration in whether or not he’s able to dribble past every opponent before him. The ability to sidefoot a powerful shot is phenomenal also. I’m loving/hating the vastly improved goalkeepers, the overarms throws and the new pressing abilities you can perform by merely holding R2 once you release a pass.
Honourable mention to Rui Costa…the fucking pass master. With Guti of Real Madrid not far behind.
As for Ronaldinho’s Flip-Flap…you can pull it off with Madrid’s Ronaldo.

Just had to post the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on this game
Doing a 4* league with Liverpool, playing Bolton at home (2-0 up Morientes and Sissoko) just had a shot with Cisse which Jaaskelainen saved. He runs to the edge of the box and boots the ball clear, the ball crosses the halfway, gets headed by Campo when the camera suddenly pans back to the Bolton area, I presume that Cisse had knocked into Jaaskelainen and it was a free kick. Instead it goes to the referee pointing at the spot animation. It shows the replay and Jaaskelainen, when running back to the centre of the goal after kicking the ball out, runs straight through Cisse who falls over, and the ref gives the penalty, which Morientes converts. Fucking strange.
Anyone had anything like that? The other day someone got a yellow card for walking, the ball went out of play and the ref ran up to a player and booked him, then it showed the replay and he was walking up from his box with the play in the other half for the whole thing, was just really strange.

Played a tourney with a few lads a while back and there was an outrageous penalty decision somewhat like that. No one could actually see what the foul was, it was from a corner being swung in but there were no tackles or anything, just a group of players.
It caused utter uproar. The guy who conceded the penalty ended up losing 2-1 and never recovered because he was well on top the whole match. He was denied a blatant penalty himself. The guy who won the match went on to win the tourney.
That's football though.

Before when I was playing with my mate, Drogba's through on goal, Toure goes through the back of him and sends him flying, Lampard picks it up and shoots from the edge of the area, it's saved and cleared by the keeper and play continues for a few minutes until the ball goes out for a throw.
Then after all that (a good few minutes later), instead of the throw animation, it shows the ref showing Toure a red card. Needless to say, we were both quite shocked.
Would have been pretty cool if it wasn't my player though :(

Yeah word.
Best feeling ever, 2-2 on aggregate (heading to extra time) in the 2nd leg of the D2 cup on 3 star, Hasselbaink fires an 86th minute volley from 25 yards out, sensational goal.
First volley I've actually had in this game that's gone anywhere near on target.
I also love the extra little realisms they've put in the game, like shirts eventually becoming untucked, goalscorers clapping to the crowd when they're subbed, the net seems a lot more real, bright balls in the snow.
But what I really love are the player movements and stuff in this game, they're so much more real. And the momentum thing as well, like you can't just skin a guy every time with the R2 button and a little flick like in the last game, challenges etc look and seem a lot more real too.
The other thing I really love is keepers not staying rooted now, and actually diving past their posts on occasion.
Scored the arsiest goal in history before, ball played back to keeper, keeper clears but Viduka closes him down (well, not so much closes him down as pressures him), anyway the clearance cannoned in off Viduka, great stuff.
