Big Show dominates everyone for awhile, chopping Benoit, tossing around Christian....the usual. Chris Jericho is 25 and Angle feels the awesome power of Vitamin C. Big Show comes in to intervene and they feel the power of the hoss. Christian tries a piggy back as everyone tries to dump The Big Show. But he's JUST TOO FAT and fights them off. Jericho and Angle slug away next as Charlie Haas enters at 26. He too feels the power of Vitamin C via a double suplex. Benoit almost gets tossed by Team Vitamin C but he hangs on. Christian tries to dump Jericho (THAT BASTARD!!!) but he ends up getting the dupe and Jericho dumps Christian. Billy Gunn makes everything right with the world by coming back at 27. Fameassers all around and a big one on The Big Show! Haas slows down the power of the Ass and they have a go at it. Suplex by Jericho to Angle and Benoit Germans Jericho. My friend accurately calls John Cena next at 28. He spies Nunzio still sitting on the floor and he tosses him into the match officially. Big Show goes on the assault though but Nunzio tries an elimination on Show. That doesn't go well as you'd expect. Cena and Jericho try to dump Show but no go there. Rob Van Dam is number 29 looking happy as ever. Guess he thinks he's gonna win. He nearly spins kicks The Big Show out and he spin kicks Jericho down as well. Cena with an FU on Angle as everyone brawls around. Number 30 is you know who and he gets a HUGE POP! He JUMPS IN and SPEARS THE BIG SHOW and Billy Gunn. Angle down, RVD and Cena down. Haas slammed dumped as Nunzio's piggy back goes no where and he nearly gets killed with a spear. Billy Gunn dumped and Goldberg military presses Nunzio out. He tries a Jackhammer on The Big Show but LESNAR stops it (AAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHH!!! GOD DAMMIT!!!) and F5's him. Lesnar is apparently next but Angle's all, "Well, get the f</>uck out of here" and sneaks up and dumps Goldberg. Back to working on the Big Show but they cant get it done. Yeah, cause Show is more over than Goldberg. Angle clips Show and he gets leg dropped by RVD, Lionsaulted by Jericho, Frog Splashed by RVD, Five Knuckle Shuffled by Cena, headbutted by Benoit, and everyone tries to lift him!!! THIS IS HILARIOUS!!! They can't do it though and they all get shoved off and Cena gets dumped by him (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH!!!!) pissing off any sane person. RVD's monkey flip gets countered and he's dumped next. The final four are Jericho, Big Show, Benoit and Angle. Try to find which one doesn't belong. Jericho avoids getting tossed and he slips back in and takes fight to Show. Bulldog from the middle rope and the Walls get applied. Er, OK. Angle looks to be dumped by Jericho but Show intervenes and chokeslams Jericho over the top. (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!) It's not like he's going to win!!! Sidewalk slam to Angle and a chokeslam to Benoit. Show counters a German with his FAT ASS but Angle comes back to Angle Slam him. A sort of Angle Slam on Benoit. Looked more like a back drop. Show's chokeslam is countered into a roll-up into an ankle lock but it doesn't mean shit cause if he can't stand you can't dump him. Show uses the ropes for leverage to flip over dragging Angle up and over the top for the elimination. Benoit headbutts Show trying to come in as the final two are Benoit and The Big Show. There's really only one meaningful outcome from this predicament. Benoit counters the chokeslam with a Crossface but again, it doesn't mean anything. Show gets to his knees in order to stand up and counter. Benoit looks to be dumped via a military press but Benoit hangs on to Big Show's head and he flips Show up and over to eliminate him and WIN THE RUMBLE!!! HE HAD BETTER NOT JOB TO HHH!!! It took a looooong time to get good but when it did, holy shit, it was good. Why Show had to be the one to dump everyone is beyond me though but this was a heck of a Rumble. ***

Overall, a show that didn't really live up to a lot of people's expectations but it could be argued that everyone got their expectations up too high. The undercard matches were too short and the title matches didn't deliver but they certainly made up for it with the Rumble. Using the star ratings and my personal reviewer's tilt, I'm gonna slap Royal Rumble 2004 with a **1/2 out of ***** rating. An average show.

Not a bad PPV...

WTF on Hebner during the HHH v. HBK match... he seriously looked like he didn't know when to count or how to count. HHH down outside, no count, HBK down outside, count.

Plus he started chaging the speed once he hit 5-7 range late in the match.

and calling someone on there knees up? WTF... was a great match for the wrestlers, but Hebner really dropped the ball, not what you'd expect from the senior offical...

So, who wants to bet it's a Benoit for Goldberg trade? Goldberg goes after Lesner and Benoit v. HHH.

I just hope they let Benoit win at Wrestlemania v. whoever it is...

Points:

Dudleyz vs Evolution: Oh like I even cared.

Cruiserweight Title: Good match, good way to continue storylines, too short.

Eddie vs Chavo: GREAT match, too short.

Brock vs Holly: Better than I thought it would be, watchable match, but I don't like either of them so meh.

HHH vs HBK: Honestly, I liked the ending. It was the one thing I didn't suspect and it keeps the feud going until Benoit jumps to Raw or else they establish someone else for the World Title slot at WM.

Rumble Match:

Bradshaw out first, how many smarks touched themselves over that.

The Undertaker tease was the BEST POSSIBLE WAY to do that if they're going for a WMXX match. Now they have two months to dog Kane's footsteps with bells tolling. Kane's reaction "I BURIED YOU ALIVE!!!" was absolutely perfect.

Kurt Angle is now officially my god for throwing out Goldberg.

Good to see them follow through on the Foley thing, they set it up well at the end with Orton running from him.

I don't watch Smackdown much these days, does Cena ALWAYS pump his shoes mid-match?

Great elimination swings for Angle and Big Show.

Great PPV, I'm quite pleased. :y::y:

What I liked

Benoit winning the Rumble. WHOOOOOOOOOOO!

Foley's appearance and the way they handled Orton. I am thoroughly satisfied with that booking :y:

Bradshaw being first eliminated.

Big Show = dead weight. What a great metaphor.

Victoria winning clean on HeAt (but :n: to it being non-title)

Cena/RVD segment. "What? Dude, it was funny."

Tazz doing color for the Rumble.

HBK's bump. That was SICK! You could tell it was a blade job, but the fall was fantastic, and the "resulting" crimson mask was brutal.

The Undertaker tease. Couldn't have written it any better myself. Well... I would have put something on the Tron, but...

Brock F-5ing Goldberg. I'm all for anyone and everyone hitting their finishers on Goldie. I'd even be supportive of a Clothesline From Hell/Alabamaslam combination.

What I disliked

Cena's landing.

A Last Man Standing match where neither man was standing. The match is LAST MAN STANDING. SOMEBODY has to be standing. Count to ten, then say the first one up is the winner. You can't have a LAST MAN match without ANYONE winning! They're making up the rules as they go.

The undercard. Less than ten minutes for Rey/Jamie? Eddie with the frogsplash after...nothing? A spinebuster through the table? WTF with these endings.

My Tipster performance. :nono:

Whoever told you those didn't know what the hell they were talking about. I didn't read any of those and I would've been smart enough not to believe them if I did. It's obvious that Goldberg will face Lesnar at WMXX. Therefore Benoit can't be facing the SD Champ. I don't see Lesnar losing to Eddie at No Way Out. A Last Man Standing match where neither man was standing. The match is LAST MAN STANDING. SOMEBODY has to be standing. Count to ten, then say the first one up is the winner. You can't have a LAST MAN match without ANYONE winning! They're making up the rules as they go.

It's always been a rule in last man standing matches. The same thing happened at St. Valentine's Day Massacre when Rock and Foley knocked each other out.

That was a great PPV in my opinion. The first 3 matches were a bit too short, but they had to do that in order to have time for the Rumble.

I really hope that Cena and Hurricane are alright. :y: It would be a shame if either one of them were seriously hurt.

I loved The Undertaker tease. I totally marked out and got goosebumps :)

I was very happy that Benoit won, and how Goldberg got eliminated was really good. The way I think this will work out is that, since Benoit won the Rumble, Heyman will be afraid that Benoit will defeat Lesnar, so he will trade Beniot to RAW for Goldberg. Then that would mean that Benoit would face HHH at WrestleMania XX for the Title. Then, I think that Goldberg will get the title shot against Lesnar at WrestleMania XX.

So I think that so far, WrestleMania will look like this:

WWE Title
Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg

World Heavyweight Title
HHH vs. Chris Benoit

Inter-Brand Match
Undertaker vs. Kane

Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero

WrestleMania XX looks awesome :drool::):y:

k, Im still wondering how HHH is gonna do movies and make Benoit job at the same time

IIRC, Hogan was WWF champ while he filmed Suburban Commando.

He also held the WCW Title while he was off filming his various (shitty) movies.

And Triple H is TWICE the backstage Politician Hogan is. So I see it as completely possible.

Why cant the Rock do it?

What, Torture Rack the Big Show? Because he doesn't have the awesome might of the Total Package.

Seriously, Rocky doesn't wrestle and make movies at the same time probably because he actually puts some effort into his. Sure, Scorpion King was nothing to write home about, but it was freakin Godfather 2 compared to Mr. Nanny.

Why cant the Rock do it?

I don't think it's a matter of CAN he, more whether he WANTS TO.

Also, as Nowhere Man put it, the Rock seems to acturally put effort into his acting career. Hogan's were a half-assed novelty. I won't defend him as the next Pacino, but he's doing better than Hogan did.

HHH will likely not put that same level of energy into it.

I didn't think Chris Beniot would really win it... If Mayor McCheese (alas, that is now Vince McMachon's name) is upset with internet reporters giving out spoilers (even though Beniot has busted his ass off for his push, and is an awesome wrestler) then maybe to keep things fresh Mayor McCheese would throw a curve ball into the spoilers... "Sean O'Haire comming back next week!" Everyone'll watch next week, and we see Jamie Noble doing the job to Mysterio, Hardcore Holly being a d</>ick, and if the camera is just right we'll see the bottom of Sean O'Haire's cage. A few weeks later, outta the blue, Sean O'Haire really does come back. But Nooooo, Mayor McCheese pushes assholes like Holly and Bradshaw, no talent hosses like Mark Henry and A-Train, when THEY NEED TO BRING SEAN O'FUC</>KING HAIRE BACK!!!

'k... I'm done.

Definitely satisfied with the actual Rumble match. Everything rumored to happen did happen, but in this case, I'm glad it did, because that's what I wanted to see.

But some of the other matches were bad.

Tipster performance: :( I should have seen some of this coming, though.
- I actually considered a draw in the LMS match, but then chose HBK for some reason after choosing HHH. Of course. Benoit's going to face HHH at WM, so he has to retain. DUH. And WWE never has one person go cleanly over another, so HBK can't lose... so draw is the logical conclusion. Grrr.
- Bradshaw eliminated first. I was going to pick that then thought that since hosses are always loved, he couldn't go out first.
- Eddie winning. Heart said he wound, but I thought they'd try to start off his feud with Angle accidentally costing him the match. Maybe Eddie's going to be heel after this and feud with face Angle. Basically, he turned heel AFTER he won the match... he'll unleash a new vicious side of him, similar to what the writers tried to do when he killed Tajiri on the lowrider.

Whatever... decent Rumble... the end certainly was great though, and I'm glad it finished on such a strong note.

A Last Man Standing match where neither man was standing. The match is LAST MAN STANDING. SOMEBODY has to be standing. Count to ten, then say the first one up is the winner. You can't have a LAST MAN match without ANYONE winning! They're making up the rules as they go.

This isnt the first time either remember Foley-The Rock back in 99 same thing happened

I've read a few of the pages and I've missed a week of Smackdown. My question is why is Benoit going to face HHH? Has he switched brands?

Ok I didn't ordered it, but I've seen some clips.

That F5 to Goldberg looked insane, I dont know why, it just did

Goldberg sold it so well

That had to be one of the loudest pops I've heard for a while for Takers bells

I accidently ordered it last night, didnt know I did. But was the crowd like totally dead throughout the night? They didnt really seem like they gave a crap and were just silent pretty much throughout every match and entrance, or was it just my TV?

Seemed like Eddie had to carry Chavo throughout their match.

The rumble was good, but could have been slightly better with the crowd more into it..or my TV was just half-assed or something.

Yeah, I thought the same. Unless I need a new TV as well.

Rumor Killer: John Cena Not Injured At Royal Rumble
Published On: 01/26/2004

Despite reports stating otherwise, John Cena was NOT injured on RAW last night.

Cena took a nasty fall from the ring apron to the floor. When he landed, it looked as if he twisted his knee. Although it was an awkward landing, Cena was fine and did a great job of selling.

So again, John Cena is NOT injured.

I'm glad I ordered it, it was pretty good show by WWE standards. The whole card before the Rumble match seemed a bit rushed. The ending to the last man standing match was a huge letdown.
The Rumble match itself was awesome, great to see Benoit go the distance, and 5 people hitting finishers and trying to eliminate Show was pretty damn funny.
Also, i'm not ashamed to admit I marked out like a little bitch when Taker's bells hit, Kane played it really well.
Overall, good show WWE....:y:

Hmm, wresltemania...

Benoit doesnt job to HHH, wins the title, and then the Hitman's music hits and he comes down and congratulates Benoit on his win only to do his classic heel-turn and throw Benoit in a sharpshooter :).

I would blow the load.

I marked out too when Takers gong rang, and I marked out even more during the Last Man Standing, just the amount of blood HBK lost was good enough. I thought he really was hurt, you could see some concern in HHH's face as well, but when he yelled "GET UP SHAWN" you could tell it was planned then.

I have an idea about Cena's "injury."

They did put up the X sign, but it COULD have been scripted. Yeah, he landed a bit awkwardly, but that might have been part of the storyline to reintroduce him into the US title feud. Basically, the feud would be to end unfinished business and because Big Show "tried to take him out" or something like that.

I dunno, just a thought.

Very Entertaining PPV however there were a few things that i disliked.

Only one Dudley going through a table :wtf:
Batista is very clumsly when not doing big moves(just an observastion)
Rey and Knoble only getting about five minutes
Eddie and Chavo's non-event of a finish :wtf:
Big Show being made to look awesome by eliminating Cena, Angle and Jericho. When will Vince realise, that no matter what he does and how hard he try's,NO ONE IS EVER GONNA LIKE THE BIG SHOW!!!!

other than that i was very impressed
