The bits with Chavo on the golf course etc, brought a tear to my eye. Again.
:( I Just woke up and saw my cousins msn name saying R.I.P. Eddie Guerrero. I thought it was his way of saying Eddie was takin' out of the main event, or worst case scenario fired. Then he said check wwe.com and I saw the news. Then I came here, I read this entire thread. I'm still fucking shocked, I cannot believe this. I don't want to argue, but those saying it should have been someone else, that is seriously not a good thing to say, you've lost my respect. It should not have been anyone.
This is just shocking. Honestly I'm still in denial. I'm still thinking he has a chance of being alive, but he obviously doesn't. Eddie was a great performer, and now I feel like shit for missing smackdown this week because I had to study. It was his last performance, and I missed it. fuck. Why is he dead? FUCK. I don't even know what to say.
He would have been the World champion in 9 fucking hours. But that doesn't matter. Why is he dead? I can't understand this. He is young and has 3 kids all under the age of 15. I can't believe this. I just can't. They better have some damn good tribute shows for him, and the end of kerwin for sure.
Just watched his celebration with Benoit at WMXX on wwe.com... I've got tears in my eyes...
We'll miss you Eddie Guerrero. R.I.P.
My tribute to him is an msn picture. I guess I could have used a better picture, but I like this one. Going to have it up on my msn for a LONG time.

This is very late notice, but I hope Jericho, Malenko, and El Hijo de Santo can make it. Or be featured.

Posted this in the Eulogy thread, but I'm sure no one would mind if I posted it here as well.
'No, no, not this. This can't be true. This can't be right. No.'
It hit me immediately. The full brunt of the meaning, tragedy, and historical significance of this moment hit me like vicious haymaker straight into my gut. That sinking pit in my stomach, that feeling of absolute forlorne despair, focused in the deepest part of my body, that feeling which I had rarely ever felt. That was what anchored me down as I tried to process this information. As silly as it might sound, I hadn't felt this feeling of absolute shock and sadness since the Twin Towers came tumbling down in New York, four years ago.
My favorite wrestler in the world, my favorite wrestler ever, was dead. Taken from us in the blink of an eye... or in this case, the sweep of one toothbrush. One moment he was in the prime of his life, full of vigor and vitality. And the next moment, he is looking down upon us all with the same vitality, only one lifetime removed, swept among the ethereal glow of the angels who have greeted him.
This is something I will never forget. "Where were you when you found out Eddie Guerrero died?" I was in my USC apartment. Nothing special. But that doesn't lessen the memory, or the pain.
How can someone I've never met affect me like so? Some might think this to be silly. "He was only a wrestler." Indeed, it's not like he was the President of the United States, or even a mainstream celebrity. "He competed in something scripted... dare I say, fake." And indeed, professional wrestling is not looked at as a most respectable sport by mainstream society. "You're being silly, getting so worked up for a wrestler."
No I'm not.
Eddie was not only a great wrestler, he was a great MAN. He was by no means perfect. Certainly, in his youth, his addiction to drugs and alchohol led to the spiral that nearly resulted in his death. He led a life of vice and abuse. He was not an angel for his entire life.
And yet, he found redemption. He found resolution. He found... himself. As admirable as a saint may be, a person who has sunken to the lowest depths of immorality and returned to genuinely gain penance and truly change himself for the better may be even more admirable. And that was Eddie.
Four years. He had been sober for just a little over four years. And in that four years, he had established a tremendous comeback, going from losing his job and nearly his family to being the greatest champion in the greatest federation of his sport. To fullfilling his lifelong dream. And in four years, he might very well have been on his way to a second tour of duty at the top.
Eddie was a true five star wrestler. He could work any match with any man and make it look like a million bucks. He could fly with the luchadores, tackle the grapplers, weave the underdog story against the hosses, work the mic like no other, and entrap you with his charisma. He was an beloved babyface character. He was a despicable heel character. He was a consumate ace in every aspect of wrestling.
But even the greatest wrestlers have their demons, and what is most remarkable, above all else, was that he was able to overcome them. That will gain my respect anyday. He recognized his vices. He defeated them. He became a living success story to any person battling addiction.
And now his death will become a testimony both to the ravages of addiction and the triumph of overcoming them. After all, in the short four years that he was sober, he was able to accomplish so much. So indellibly much.
Though this is personal speculation, the coroner will probably find the result to be heart failure as a result of a combination of past damage from drugs and alcohol and from possible steroid use. And that's a shame, but perhaps we can learn from this, if it indeed is the issue.
But this isn't about drugs. Or alcohol. Or any number of bad things he might have done. This is about Eddie. A human being who fell from glory but was able to climb back. He was a precocious boy and a great man, an example of how to conduct oneself both as a wrestler and as a person.
I will remember him, not for his vices, but for his victory over his vices. I will remember him for his amazing matches. His priceless promos. His colorful persona. His love and devotion to his family. His quiet, honorable nature. His passion for life.
My heart goes out to his wife, Vickie, as well as his three daughters, Shaul, Sherylin, and Katie Marie, and his mother. No parent should have to outlive his or her child. My sympathies to the Guerrero family, and to Eddie's friends.
The wrestling world has lost a shining star, a legend, and a great man.
Rest in Peace

We lost a great one today. And also one of my favorites.
I still can't believe it, just like everyone can't either like it was some twisted joke. From someone who is latino myself, someone like Eddie was great to have as he had the talent, he had the heart, hell, he had it all and I find that as an inspiration as Latino myself that there is a great talent like him. He went through hell and came back, you know the story, and became the champ. Eddie, was true greatness and as tired as the saying goes, it's the truth: there will be only one Eddie Guerrero. And for all that he has done, I will miss him greatly.
My thoughts and prayers go to his family, his friends, to anyone who knew him. Here's my picture tribute...

i just rewatched the eddie/mr. kennedy match from friday.
the last images we have of eddie is that of the crowd giving him a huge "eddie! eddie!" chant while being helped up by the refs along with a quick (but funny) eddie/dave backstage spot.
we are left watching eddie's last match that included his classic "chair shot" win. only he could pull that off so easily.
i almost wish we could see chavo win that way this week. to do it the way "uncle eddie" would. that would be a great way for him to tribute his "little trooper".
the great thing about eddie was that if he came to the ring one night and on the mic claimed he was black and was going to rap battle cena..... we would all eat it up and believe it. he was that good.

Denial is strongest here because Eddie wasn't just a current wrestler, but an incredibly vibrant man. He was bouncing and energetic in almost all instances, so it's shocking. We expect old people to die. Not to say he should die, but if Flair passed away, people would say it was his time. Same's true with Hogan, and both are still active wrestlers. Not saying we wouldn't mourn them, I'm just saying it's easier to believe.
Eddie was so alive, it's impossible to accept him as anything else. The guy worked his matches like a total professional. His energy is a large part of what endeared him to the fans, even as a heel. Come on, the man cut a promo with no words...Just a Mysterio mask.
However, sometimes you could see it in his eyes, a single look, an age and fatigue beyond his years. We know he wrestled with his own personal demons, and that took a toll on him.
I can only hope that he's at peace now.

Eddie was cetainly one of a kind and has left a hole in the WWE that not many wrestlers can fill.
His promos were so emotional, his matches were so entertaining. He certainly had all the characteristics of an amazing wrestler.
He worked so hard to get to the position he reached in WWE that at least we can say he accomplished his dreams before he passed away.
You will be missed Eddie.

Yknow, a little over a year ago my dad passed away. Me and him never really had alot of interests in common, but he would try. I remember he would bring me home RAW and Smackdown! mags. But this biggest thing, i remember when the Eddie Guerrero story showed on UPN. He watched it and came up to me the next day and said 'hey, that Eddie Guerrero guy, he went through alot of sh*t man, hes a strong guy.' i laughed and i remember telling him 'so did you dad, alot of smililar things'. And we laughed, and he watched wrestling with me for about 2 months and ALWAYS marked out when Eddie came out with the low rider and stuff. My dad could connect with him, because they both went through drug problems, they were both hispanic, and Eddie carried not just the hispanic heritage with pride, but the CHICANO heritage, the low riders, the slang, the attitude. After my dad passed away in a car accident, anytime i saw Eddie on WWE programing, i smiled because he reminded me so much of my dad and i could just picture my dad smiling and going 'alright, he about to kick someones ass, who is that bald guy? (it was Kurt Angle lol)'. Maybe thats why this loss of a great man has hit me pretty hard. All i know is, now my dad will get to shake his hand up in heaven. RIP Eddie Guerrero, RIP David Alvarado...

A friend of mine was going to meet "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan today, and he heard people talking about Eddie, so he called me for info. And unfortunately this is no joke. I just still couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the headline on WWE.com. I was looking forward to seeing him at Survivor Series, but no longer. What a sad, sad day.

I was on earlier and couldn't believe it. This has just killed my whole day. I couldn't even speak or type after watching that conference and those beautiful tributes. I was gonna call my brothers and tell them, but I lost my voice for a while.
I don't even know what to say. Eddie was my favourite current wrestler in the WWE, and now he's gone. I never got to see him live, like I did with Owen, but that same distractedness and empty feeling has been with me all day. I actually cried during that first tribute video.
Wow.

I don't stop by the Wrestling Forum anymore since I haven't had access to cable TV since my parents moved, but I heard about this through a number of posters on this site and felt that I should pay my respects.
Eddie Guerrero was an incredibly gifted athlete and professional wrestler. Sure, he had his demons, but don't we all. I spent countless hours as a young adolescent watching Eddie fly about the ring with the grace of a swan, and the brutality of a bull to the face, and was mesmerised every second. He was a great wrestler, and a magnificent entertainer.
R.I.P Eddie. You will be sorely missed. :'(

Goodness, I'm still in an awkward mental state.
As retarded as this sounds, I honestly wish this was all some sort of mistake or something. Like he's not REALLY dead. Or like he'll be lying there and suddenly he's revived or something.
I know, I'm blabbering.... but this is probably the only case where I'd totally mark out if, say at the funeral, he jumps out of the coffin and announces to the astonished crowd, "Oh yeah... I DO LIE!!!!" :D
That sounds sadistic, but the alternative is so much worse. Yes, I'm selfish.
Hopefully, the WWE can set up some sort of trust fund, like if you buy Eddie Guerrero merchanise, the profits go to his family.
Gosh, I can't even begin to imagine how his wife must feel right now. :wavesad:

I am in a state of complete shock. I don't know what to do . Even though I have never met him, I feel like I have lost a family member. Same way with Pillman, Owen, etc. These guys are like real-life superheros to me. And to see him go, its....its like IDK how to describe it. I will never get to see Eddie perform again. EVER. And that hurts.
Do you know how hard it was for me to break the news to my grandfather? Even he teared up a little. I just felt like sitting there, my mind was numb. It still kinda is. I feel like crying. Seeing these men, who play such strong characters, break down and show how much they love each other, it gets to me. Where do we go from here? I can't imagine Smackdown without Eddie, just like I couldnt imagine it without Owen.
Eddie was probably one of my favorite wrestlers right now. I feel such a sickning feeling in my stomach. He's gone. He's really gone. Goodbye Eddie. Thank you for everything.

"I've been sitting here all night trying to get some words out. Eddie Guerrero was the perfect name for us to book when we started ROH. He's been a major influence on everyone that has ever stepped in a ROH ring. He defined and innovated the style you see today in ROH. When we started ROH and he was available we knew he was the perfect guy to get ROH attention and set the vibe of the company.
I'm not going to act like I knew Eddie well or that he would even know who I am today, but he was a pleasure to work with. He always treated everyone with respect in his soft-spoken, humble, classy way. If I'm able to get the words out maybe I'll write more later.
Eddie Guerrero will be missed by everyone who knew him, everyone who simply crossed paths with him and all those that had the opportunity to see him wrestle. Eddie will never be forgotten.

It’s always the ones you DON’T expect to die are the ones who always go too soon and Eddie Guerrero is a prime example of someone who we were robbed of today. I didn’t know Eddie that well but it the time I did get to meet him he exuded everything in which this business SHOULD be about. Honor, class and something Eddie had earned from anyone who ever met him and that is RESPECT.

I don't really have much of a conscience.......as some of you who may know me cyberally may have figured out......but I can honestly say that the news of Eddie's passing away sent chills down my spine.
I'm not going to lie and say something like, "Eddie was my favorite wrestler ever!" or "I've been crying all day!" or anything like that, but I do want to take this to simply say, "thank-you."
Instead of mourning the death of such a great wrestler (and human being) in Eddie Guerrero, I'd like to thank him for all of the wonderful memories that he provided me.
-The Lie, cheat, and steal skits with Chavo
-His unbelievable matches with Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle, Edge, and many others.
-His Wrestlemania celebration with Chris Benoit
-His 'mamacita' skits with Chyna
And many more....
Other than that, I don't have too much more to say.
I'm glad that most of (or all) of Tpww have responded well to this, and continue to focus on the positives of Eddie Guerrero's life.......and the many wonderful experiences that we remember of him.
God Bless Eddie Guerrero.
May you rest in peace.

Not much could bring me back to TPWW, but I am sad to say that this is something that did (this is Vega...forgot my pass but I knew the pass to my friend's account).
Tragic. I haven't watched wrestling for months but I still enjoy it, and I remember the days when Eddie was the highlight of the night and the real reason to even watch the show. It will be hard for the WWE to recover from this, Eddie is one of the best wrestlers of all time. Tragic that it happened the day he was set to win the title as well, reminds me of the Owen Hart incident in that respect. Terrible, Terrible day for wrestling. He was so young too, feel so bad for his family. He will be sorely missed.
Rest In Peace.

Chris Jericho on Eddie's Passing
http://www.chrisjericho.com/images/FrontPage1.jpg
I am devastated by the news of Eddy's passing and I am so sad...
I've lost alot of friends over the years but this one hurts the most by far.
I had the pleasure of meeting Eddy in Mexico City almost 14 years ago and we've been close ever since (although it didn't start that way!) He is one of my favorite people that I've ever met in the wrestling business, as well one of the greatest performers I've ever seen and had the pleasure to work with. One of my favorite times in my career was when Eddy and I were an underutilized, underpushed, hell, almost non-exisitant tagteam, that were thrown together randomly in WCW. But there was a chemistry there that existed becuase we had mutual respect for each other and we both loved what we were doing. One of my most cherished matches was myself and Eddy vs Chris and Dean in Knoxville, on a benefit show for our dear friend Brian Hildebrand. All four of us started the same way and had the same love and respect for the business, for Brian and for each other...it was a magical night. My best match of 1997 was against Ed at Fall Brawl that year. He was as talented as they come and a true class act.
He was also so humble and a true family man and most importantly a warrior for God. He taught me so much about wrestling and about being a man and it is an honor to call him a true brother and friend.
I have so many classic Eddy stories that I would love to share, but instead I'm just going to go and cry myself to sleep remembering what an awesome human being Eddy was and will always be...
May God bless your family and your soul and may he keep you safe forever putillo falso....I love you my brother...
Love your chapete

Its really hard to even think about Eddie Guerrero dying even tho he passed. I'm not sure what to say.I dont post on this forum alot , but aside from Chris Benoit, Eddie was my favorite wrestler of all time. His DVD ( Which i own and love ) was amazing. Not because of the matched, but because of the story of Eddie. I like many other fight demons and to see this guy tell his story and his battles and see him conquer the demons was amazing and very motivating. He inspired me not as a aspiring wrestler ( which i'm not ) and not because of his charachter in ring, but because of his charachter out of the ring. He lived the life he did so that others with simliar demons and problems can take notes from him on how to be a better man in life. For that i thank him. I thank him for having such amazing ability and personality in the ring, I thank him for working as hard as he did to make it into wrestling and become a world champion, becuase if he hadnt worked that hard, I wouldnve been able to hear his story and take notes on how he conducted himself out of the ring through out all of life's turmoil. Eddie Guerrero is and will always be the man.

The worst part is, it's still not really clicking. Even now, reading everything, and looking at all of the tribute pictures, you can't help but think it's not real. You think that you just saw him a few days ago, that he looked so healthy, that he was young, etc. It's hard to grasp that outside of taped footage, we will never see Eddie again. If it wasn't for the sadness that I'm feeling, I don't think I'd believe it at all. He had a lot of life ahead of him, and it's a shame he didn't get to live it, especially after everything he fought through... Then again, at least he lived to see brighter days, and was fortunate enough to have those 4 sober years at the end, with his family, with his success, with his fans, in control of his life. Most people couldn't accomplish what Eddie did, or live the life he did in two lifetimes, let alone do it in 38 years, and I think that speaks bounds about the type of man Eddie Geurrero was.

I just can't believe it, I was away from the computer all of yesterday so I only found out from the front page this morning. I'm in shock. I just can't believe he's gone, a man I respected and admired, a wrestler I followed for going on almost a decade now (and even more retrospectively). I can't stop crying, I feel honoured to have seen him in person wrestle Kurt Angle last year at Summerslam. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him, and by all who watched him on TV. He was by all accounts a wonderful human being and I want to thank him for everything he gave to the fans of this great sport. I will be uploading a series of Eddie Guerrero matches as soon as I have the time. My heart goes out to his family and friends I can only imagine what they are going through right now, if I, a person who has never spoken to or truly met Eddie Guerrero feel this sad.

Damn, I got on msn earlier and Cuzziebro619 asked me if he'd actually passed away, and I hate to say it but my first thought was, "Wow They've really taken this concussion angle to another level". Then I came online here and couldnt believe it, All I could think was Fuck, why him, why not someone who deserved it like Osama Bin Laden or the motherfucker who called in the terrorist threats right here in Brisbane today.
I actually cried a bit after i read it, and its weird for me because I didnt even shed a tear when my grandma died, and that saddens me even worse, and it shows me how much of a role model he was. Now I'm gonna go try and sleep, so I'd like to give my condolences to the Guerrero family, and I'd like to thank Eddie for all the times he went out into that squared circle and busted his ass for us fans.
You'll be sorely missed Eddie, Peace Brother :y:

I've only known Eddie's work in WWE, but from those few years, I've become convinced eddie was one of the only who could call themselves the complete package. A man who could make the crowd eat out of the palm of his hand, or make them hate him, but no matter what, would always have the crowds respect. It is a massive loss to the wrestling world, not to be able to see him anymore, and to the world itself to lose such a good person. My sincerest condolences go out to his family who have suffered the biggest loss of all, and that the millions of fans of Eddie guerrero support them in this sad time. Thank you eddie for everything, and all the memories you've left us.
Posted this in the book of condolence. it doesn't do justice to him, but its hard to know what to say.

A little update on WWE.COM.
Eddie Guerrero passes away
Nov. 13, 2005
WWE is deeply saddened by the news that Eddie Guerrero has passed away. He was found dead Sunday morning in his hotel room in Minneapolis. Eddie is survived by his wife Vickie and daughters Shaul, 14, Sherilyn, 9, and Kaylie Marie, 3.
The cause of death is unknown at this time. An autopsy will be performed in Minneapolis on Monday, and Eddie's body will then be flown to Phoenix. Funeral arrangements are set for Wednesday in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Scottsdale, eh? If I can find someone to get me there, I will go and pay my last respects. Because he sure as hell deserves at least that.

The man deserves one heck of a tribute show. Have guys like Jericho, Malenko, Benoit Rey, other WWE guys guys from Japan like Liger and siblings like Hector Chavo Sr. and Chavo Jr. on it. It would be a incredible way to pay tribute with a man like Eddie.

It's amazing reading what everyone has to say... even though pretty much everyone (including me) has said the same thing I still can't believe it. He was on top of the world. He was Eddie freaking Guerrero. He was a huge reason why people watched Smackdown. He was a huge reason why people watched wrestling. I wish Eddie could read all of this thread and see how he touched so many wretling fans. I hope, somehow, his family come accross this or any other thread in any other wrestling message board about Eddie Guerrero.
He didn't start wrestling to be loved by everyone. He did it because he loved the sport. And it was his love and passion for the sport that made everyone love him. When he was a heel you hated his guts. You hated everything about him. It's so hard to hate heels with a passion these days. Eddie had that gift to make you believe anything. If he came out to the ring saying he was a pregnant, you'd be waiting for months for him to give birth.
Benoit should wrestle for Eddie in the triple threat match and win the belt. After all Eddie was going to win the title.
I'm not looking forward to watching Raw and Smackdown. Like everyone else I'm going to cry my ass off.

OK, I just thought of everything that's being said about Eddie's Death and there is one this that's confusing me. This is it.
Chavo said that, Eddie, himself and another wrestler had breakfast, then Eddie went to his room after it, but he also said that Eddie missed his 7am wake up call, but how could he have missed it if he already had his breakfast? Surely, if you were having or had your breakfast, you wouldn't need a wake up call and cancel it because you would already be awake.
So that's whats confusing me.:?:

^^ Actually, that occurred to me as well. I'm thinking maybe they meant dinner the night before, or some sort of midnight breakfast.
Chavo might have been shaken up so much that he got his facts skewed.
Does anyone know if they're packaging Eddie's DVD with his "Scarface" shirt? That'd be a great deal, especially if proceeds were sent to his family.

It's such a shame, to hear this news, whether it was heel or face, Eddie played the part brilliantly, I heard he was a great person outsode of the ring too, I tryed to watch some tapes of his matches at wrestlemania, and just seeing his entrance, makes me stop the tape and not bother, it's very hard to watch a man entering the arena in a lowrider with a big smile on his face without thinking that he was never aware at this time he would be dead.
It's hard to see someone so alive be so dead, I was a great fan of eddie as a face, he brought charisma and happiness to his match, and looked genuinley looked happy to be entertaining the fans in the way that he did, it was his dream to wrestle, it it's such a shame to take that dream away from him in a hotel room somewhere with no warning.
The pinnacle of Eddies career was when he hit the big time and got the title and was face, and as much as it pains me to say, Eddie faded away, it's a shame he didn't get one last energy fuelled pop before he left us.
Thank you Eddie for making me dislike you and making me adore you.
Thanks for showing that you dont have to be big to get the gold
And I thank you for entertaining us, Eddie, you put the E in WWE

Impossible to do. That picture, coupled with that music...
I've been in shock the past few hours like many of you have, naturally. I didn't know Eddie personally, only what I saw in his performances and from his DVD and such. All I really know now is that the world has lost one great competitor and one great human being.
I couldn't say anything that hasn't already been spoken of in this thread, honestly. The thing that gets me most is that he was clean at the time. He was clean and sober for ages, only to pass on at a time when he was doing GREAT. The sky was the limit for him, and what happens? He gets taken from the fans, and more importantly, his family and friends. I can't imagine what it would be like for his wife, since I'm not married and I have no romantic attraction to anyone. But I can sympathize deeply with his children...If everyone could think of what it would be like to lose their father, and ESPECIALLY at such a young age for the children and Eddie both. It's heartbreaking.
Someone else said it best. I'd like to think that Eddie knew that he would win the belt at the tapings. In that aspect, and in MANY, MANY others, that man went out as a winner, plain and simple.
In many ways, Eddie is far better off than the rest of us now. He won't have to listen to his "critics" badmouthing him anymore (although if someone DOES at this time, it's sickening), and I'd like to believe that he lived a good life with a few bumps in the road. May God bless you and your children, Eddie. You will be missed horribly. Rest in peace to a true legend.

In the night sky there is always one star
One star that outhines them all
One star that is brightest
It illuminates such radiancy
You can't help but notice it
But once that star is gone
You know it
You feel it
You miss it
Knowing it won't be back.
You wish it wasn't gone
You wish it was still there
One more time
Just to see it one more time
Once more.
The memory will never be forgotten
Will always be remembered
In our eyes
In our minds
In our hearts
Eddie was that star
Taken away in his prime
Although he is not with us
He will always be remembered
Never forgotten
May you rest in peace
For your memory
Your legacy
Will never die
But will always live on.
Goodbye Eddie.

This was taken from Jimmy Jacobs journal
A total "what the fuck" kinda day. I hate doing updates like this. But fuck. I checked my voicemail around noon and got a message from a buddy saying Eddie Guerrero died. I'm not going to pretend we were best friends, but I was fortuante enough to be around him and work with him once.
First time I met Eddie in August of 2003 at a Smackdown show in Detroit. Alex Shelley, Chris Hero and I were there working out in the ring before the show. Eddie stopped and took the time to watch us all wrestle, then to come up to us afterwards and compliment us.
Then in May of this year, I worked with him in Reading, PA. I can probably say working on WWE Smackdown with him was one of the best experiences in my life. The thing I thought was really cool about him, which I also thought was really cool about Chris Candido (God rest his soul too), was that for a guy who has been there and done that, for a man who has main evented Wrestlemania as the world heavyweight champion, he treated me as an equal. I was a 21 year old kid just happy to be getting work, and he acted as though I were on par with him. Just to show you my experience with this, not to totally kill the business, but that day when I found out I was working with Eddie, I went up to him and said "Hi. I'm Jimmy. I think we're working together tonight." The first thing Eddie did was apologize. "Jimmy. I want to apologize for the match. I would love to have a competitive match with you, but tonight this match needs to be %100 me. Please understand this is just business. I'm truly sorry, and I want to thank you for your professionalism. God willing, we'll work again under better circumstances." It really struck me that he would do that. I mean, seriously. I was happy just to have work, just to be getting paid, just to be on the show, just to be working for WWE, just to be in the ring with him, yet he was apologizing to me. As the day went on, almost every time we talked, he apologized, thanked me, and was almost trying to sell me on the fact that it'd be ok to get squashed by him, as if I was doing him a favor. Before the match, one of the agents for our match came up to me and said, "Jimmy, now, you know this is going to be a stiff match, right?" I said "Sure." But Eddie never touched me. Even on the finish when he gave me the brainbuster on the chair, he took total care of me.
So, there's my story of my experience with him.

I just want to add some other things.
I had the pleasure of being able to watch Eddie's final match live. And it will be something that will live with me forever. My final images of Eddie are of him smiling and doing his customary "Eddie Shimmie" dance while he was selling Ken kennedy's chair shot.
Eddie is someone that I looked up to, now I'm not saying he was my favorite wrestler of all time. He was one of my favorites at the present time...but I looked up to him because of what he overcame. I look at Eddie and what he's been through and I see a bit of me. Granted I never had an alcohol problem, but I've had my own personal problems that I am trying to overcome. And hearing Eddie's story makes me feel better and gives me hope.
Being a fan of pro wrestling all of my life, I never found an emotional attachment to anyone in particular. Granted I love Ric Flair, my favorite all time, but I never found an emotional attachment to him. The only two wrestlers I've ever attached myself to emotionally are Rey Mysterio Jr. and...Eddie Guerrero.
Rey is because of his size, although I'm a shade taller than him...he is proof that you don't need to be Hulk Hogan's size to be successful. And with Eddie...it's his ability to overcome his problems and become a bigger and better person because of it.
Throughout tonight's Raw, I was teary eyed...I never broke down, but it was a constant two hour eye watery ride. I never did this for any other wrestler who passed on over the years...I don't know when I'll cry over a wrestler again...hopefully not for a while. Yet, Eddie is worth my tears.
To finish, I want to be the type of human being Eddie Guerrero was.

I still can't believe it I jus got home from work, turned on RAW, and then I seen Cena wearing an Eddy shirt, and the commentators talking about what he meant. I was like 'oh no..tell me their fucking around'.
It's a damn shame , he's left us too early, he was one of the best all around, and I don't know what the cause of death is , but for now that is irrelevant, just the fact that he's gone is a travesty. I missed RAW hope I can catch a replay, but i will defeniatley buy his dvd...

Have you ever thought that A. It's not like the entire goddamn WWE is going, and B. the fact that the wrestler's who will be there are going to be close friends of Eddie and his family? Funerals are for close friends and family. It is perfectly understandable that the family does not want thousands of people showing up who they don't know. Let the family mourn their loss in peace. We have Raw, we have Smackdown, we have message boards and websites that let us post our thoughts. Let the family have their funeral without second guessing them. They are suffering, and they deserve it. If you feel otherwise, you're an ignorant and utterly selfish asshole.

How about this? You're neither a close friend nor a relative. Do you know how much more it would cost them to accomodate thousands of people they don't even know? All the security and whatnot they would have to pay for? Or perhaps they'd rather not have to deal with thousands of people gawking at Eddie's children wile their mother has to explain to a 3 year old that daddy's dead?

Hi, I don't think people are going to see me as the bad guy here. I'm not the one calling Vince a bitch and saying he should burn in hell because Eddie's family wants a private funeral. Like any other family, Eddie's has a right to a private funeral. Private meaning the public is in fact shutout. Regular schmoes have that right, so why shouldn't Eddie's family? The fans have had their chance to mourn, let the family have theirs. You're trying to take that right away from the family, and that is selfish. How can you not see that?

It's respecting PRIVACY. As nice of a gesture in theory as making this public would be, it would turn into a media circus. Think of how his daughters would feel, being subjected to the public microscope while they are still deeply in morning. Maybe they'll have a public memorial service, but even if they don't, how is that your fault? You're tainted by this belief that they're spoiled celebrities acting like the world owes them a silver platter, when this is clearly not the case.
Those kids have already been traumatized enough by losing their dad, having thousands of people show up, however good the intention may be, could very well overwhelm them. They're still kids. Shaul's not even 15 yet, right? She hasn't even celebrated her quinciera. Just because you feel a certain way doesn't mean that applies to everyone else.
It's certainly natural to react selfishly in grief and hope for certain things, because that's what mourning will bring, but to take it this far is just appalling.
I also find it ironic that you accuse others of starting a flame war when you are the one who FIRST posted the inciteful comments. "Fuck you Vicki?" You are a pathetic hypocrite, no better than that ESPN Radio cronie who spouted off on a matter he knew practically nothing of.

I've seen many wrestlers come and go, but Eddie's passing is eating at me more than I thought it would. It's getting to me more than any other loss in the wrestling world has. I thought I'd just break down in tears once, and get over it.
This is getting to me, and I'm just a fan. I'm going to pray for Eddie's soul, for his family, and for his friends...
Oh, Cerebral Assasin, if you'd be so kind as to fuck off that'd be great. It's already been said that if you're not a friend or family you shouldn't be there. The ones were were close to Eddie needs their time. It's not a matter of celebs trying to put up a border between "us" and "them." It's respect.

It's near impossible for Celebrities to have public funerals, there would be waaaaay too many people going. Plus none of us knew him, NONE OF US! Unless you personally knew Eddie you have no right to be there. If you are invited sure, but that's the family's choice

I'm still numb. I was going to try and post something yesterday when I read the news, but I couldn't. I appreciate the WWE doing the best they could given the short time frame with a tribute show to Eddie. I taped the RAW and went to bed after the Chris Benoit interview, I just couldn't take anymore. Hopefully with time I can go back and watch the tape and celebrate Eddie's life without being mad at how cruel life often is.
I will not pretend to write words to describe how great Eddie was as my literary skills are way too deficient in comparison the the smiles and cheers Eddie brought to me every week. I forget which poster mentioned Eddie being the total package. No description can be more accurate. Often the Marks and IWC are on different pages when it comes to its love of certain wrestlers. However, there is no doubt that both types of fans loved Eddie.

One of the guys at my office, taking lunch orders, casually said to me "Hey, I heard one of your wrestling guys died the other day. Kinda tragic. See what steroids and cocaine'll do to ya?"
I just gave him my money for the lunch order and looked away.

It's just amazing looking at it from a non-wrestling fan point-of-view. It's just another death. Since it was "only" a wrestler, it doesn't really matter in the real world to them. I could've gone on about how he was an inspiration to recovering addicts and to wrestling fans in general, but he wouldn't have understood, sadly.

TerranRich then began to slam his fist into his hand making the sound of fist hitting flesh. "NO! STOP!!! STOP HITTING ME!!!" TerranRich screams. Ignorant Guy looks confused and starts to back away. TerranRich then drops to the floor and holds a hand over one side of his face just in time for a few co-workers to come around the corner to see what's going on. With a look of terror TerranRich points at Ignorant Guy from the ground with his free hand and says, "KEEP HIM AWAY FROM ME!! HE'S CRAZY!!"
"I didn't do anything!" Ignorant Guy exclaims.
"I WAS JUST SITTING HERE WORKING AND HE JUST STARTED PUNCHING ME!!!" TerranRich yells with a trembling voice.
"I'm calling security," one of the co-workers states.
"But I didn't do anything!" screams Ignorant Guy starting to lose his cool.
With in minutes two security guards show up and escort Ignorant Guy from the building. TerranRich settles back into his desk and with a smile on his face he whispers, "That's for you, Eddie."

Vickie Guerrero speaks on Eddie's autopsy report
Nov. 15, 2005
After the untimely passing of Eddie Guerrero, WWE and the entire sports-entertainment community is still reeling from the devastating loss of a champion. The initial autopsy reports on Guerrero have come in. WWE.com spoke with Eddie’s widow, Vickie Guerrero, earlier today.
“It was heart failure. It was from his past – the drinking and the drug abuse. They found signs of heart disease. She (the examiner) said that the blood vessels were very worn and narrow, and that just showed all the abuse from the scheduling of work and his past. And Eddie just worked out like crazy all the time. It made his heart grow bigger and work harder and the vessels were getting smaller, and that’s what caused the heart failure. He went into a deep sleep.
As soon as they saw his heart, they saw the lining of his heart already had the heart disease. There was no trauma, and Eddie hadn’t hurt himself in any way. It answered a lot of questions. I knew Eddie wasn’t feeling very good for the last week. He was home and kept saying he wasn’t feeling good and we thought it was just “road tired.” So we thought he just had to rest. It answered a lot of my questions, too, because he was just so exhausted. She said it was normal because the heart was working so hard.
When he didn’t call me last night and the night before I knew it was for real, because he would call me every night. I miss his phone calls. I cried through the whole thing (last night).
I loved his laugh. His laugh was the best.
We just celebrated his four-year sobriety last Thursday. We just thought we had life by the handful. We thought we had it all figured out. He worked so hard to make a better life for us.
I’m just overwhelmed by how people are coming out. It’s touched my heart a lot.
Everybody was just in awe last night in how beautifully everything was put together.
All my life was wrestling. All he did was take care of them and live for that. And I don’t know what to do now.”

Death hasn't seemed to hit me very hard, mainly due to the fact that I have been fortunate and only lost two members of my family, and they were both older grandparents. But this will really hit me when I go to Survivor Series. Considering that Eddie has already been announced for the show, when he doesn't show up, it will really hit me then. I'm gonna try to take a sign to show my respect for Eddie.
