So in the Yahoo fantasy NBA draft chat room I talked about how good a chance OSU has at the upset today. They still look good, they just need to not blow it in the 2nd half and let USC dominate like always.

Xavier Lee looked good at QB though, dunno why he hasn't been starting all year. He throws one of the best looking spirals I've seen in a while

Michigan or OSU will lose
Notre Dame or Texas may be in the National Title game?

I really wish the BC game was on TV today so some of you guys could have seen what I sat threw today, it was ridiculous. My friend had 7 tackles tho so it was pretty bomb...too bad the kid ahead of him on the depth chart had 14 :-\ haha

Nevermind then, if Louisville wins out they'd probably be in though, since they'd have victorys over West Virgina and Rutgers (never thought I'd say that)

Yah, they play Louisville thursday. Shoule be interesting. I'm rooting for Rutgers to beat the Cardinals and WVU, just so we can all sit back and see if Rutgers gets to go to the National Championship game. Personally, I think those two wins, plus the Pitt win, are pretty impressive.

Didn't watch the game, but for some reason I have always liked Louisville. What really sucks is they don't have the running back, Bush I think. Barring a Rutgers upset of Louisville, the BCS Title Game is due for controversy this year.
Ohio State and Michigan are going to be 1 and 2 and Louisville 3. Either the voters will keep Michigan in there after they lose, which would be highly controversial on two fronts. One because Louisville will be undefeated, one because Michigan will have just lost to Ohio State. If Michigan loses and Louisville makes it though, the Big East bashing is going to come back to kill them.
I don't consider Louisville anywhere near Ohio State though. Big Ten teams are so big on the lines, it seems like Louisville is based more on talent and speed, areas that Ohio State doesn't slack in.
BCWWF
11-03-2006, 04:12 AM
I honestly can't say who the second best team in college football is right now. I mean Michigan is great, and undefeated, Louisville is undefeated in a surprisingly decent Big East, and then Texas has been playing great, and Florida and Auburn. It will be a good stretch.
Jesus Shuttlesworth
11-03-2006, 01:01 PM
Louisville and WVU defenses don't exist
Take away that one bad punt and this game would have been totally different, I don't know, I wasn't as impressed with Louisville as everyone else was.

I hope Rutgers wins and goes undefeated, then I hope they beat somebody half way decent in a BCS game (They will probably match them up againest a non-BCS conference at large bid though, just like they did with Utah vs Pitt so when Utah beat Pitt that year nobody really cared)

If Rutgers goes undefeated, they will most likely play the ACC champion in the Orange Bowl. Here is how it works.
The champions of selected conferences are contractually committed to certain bowls, unless they are No. 1 or No. 2. (ACC: Orange; Big Ten: Rose; Big 12: Fiesta; Pac-10: Rose; SEC: Sugar).
If a Bowl loses a host team to the title game, then the bowl gets first choice at a replacement team. The rest of the selection order is as follows: Sugar, Orange, Fiesta.
Notre Dame earns an automatic berth if it is in the top eight of the final BCS Standings, while non-BCS schools can earn bids if ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS standing.
http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/bowls/predictions
Notre Dame will be the first at-large team taken, by the Suger Bowl. Rutgers gets picked up by the Orange, and Boise is left for the Fiesta. If Boise loses, then I could see Rutgers falling to the Fiesta. They would play Texas there, unless they are #2.
I would love to see Rutgers beat Louisville. That would make it that much easier for a one loss SEC team *cough* ARKANSAS *cough* to make the NC game.

Well if that game is the BCS Title game, then they aren't contracted to do it, outside of that though they are. Unless the #1 team from the Pac 10 or Big Ten is playing in the BCS title game, then I don't think they have to take the #2 team from the conference - but I'm not totally sure about that.

Based on what Supermark posted, I am wrong. I was under the same impression he was but the other day our lead football writer told me that it isn't like that anymore. That the BCS still tries to get the conference to the traditional bowl, but that it's not guaranteed. I asked again, specifically if they were contractually obligated, and he said no. That's why I posted it. I am kind of surprised that he would be wrong, but the info posted seems to say that he is.

I dunno, I don't see how Arkansas is going to beat LSU and UT. Or really 1 of them. I don't see how ARK is doing so well. They beat us by 1 in double OT because of 4 missed field goals and an PAT yet they beat Auburn by 17 at home? I dunno, I'm not sold on them quite yet although McFadden is the best RB in the nation.

It's destiany my friend. Auburn is OVERRATED. Bama has a good stot at beating them.
Our secondary scares me against UT. We'll play more zone, and be fine. UT's front 7 is banged up. They gave up 259 yards rushing to LSU, we'll go for 300. Gameday will be there. The Crowd will be insane.

ND will not make the national championship game.
There are three teams tha have a chance at being the No. 2 seed:
1. Florida
2. Auburn
3. Rutgers
One of those three teams will be in. If Rutger goes undefeated it will be them. If not, the SEC champ will be in.
I'm pretty sure Auburn has no chance at all.
Hows this for a scenario...
Michigan beats Ohio St. by more 2 TD's.
Notre Dame beats USC
Arkansa wins out, beating LSU and Florida in the title game.
Rutgers beats a 1 loss WVU team to go undefeated.
So, Michigan is definetly in the NC game. Who else is in? Ohio St., Arkansa, Notre Dame or undefeated Rutgers?
Rutgers has pretty much played the same schedule Louisville has, minus a horrible Miami team. Lousiville was reguarded as the number 2-3 team in the nation. So if Rutgers beats WVU and having already beat #3 Louisville, how is Rutgers any different from the Cardinals? Shouldnt they be in the NC game?
BCWWF
11-12-2006, 03:47 AM
If Auburn wins the SEC and Rutgers loses a game, Auburn will be in.
Auburn lost today. They have no shot at a BSC game as far as i'm concerned.
Even if they beat Alabama and Arkansas loses, Arkansas beat Auburn.
Jesus Shuttlesworth

Pretty sure Auburn is eliminated from the SEC title game aren't they?
I still got a bad feeling about ND making it.
Ohio State beats Michigan
ND beats USC
Arkansas beats Florida (this where it gets tricky, Arkansas jumping to #2? but Arkansas lost to USC so I dunno)
Rutgers loses to WVU
Yah, but Michigan would have to go before Notre Dame right? They beat Notre Dame, how can Notre Dame leap frog them?
If Rutgers loses, and Arkansas wins out and ND beats USC and Michigan loses in a close game, its got to be Michigan right? They beat ND and surely they're a better team then Arkansas?
And if USC beats Cal and Notre Dame. Then its truely fucked.

Yeah that could happen too, I'm not sure. I wish they had a way to fucking project all this shit but I guess since they do use the human polls in the BCS calculations (which are a big variable obviously) they can't. That is why I think ND might leap frog, the ND hype machine element. If ND does beat USC though, I guess it wouldn't be THAT bad although it would be kinda bullshit for Michigan since Michigan took a shit on Touchdown Jesus and made Brady Quinn eat it

Just thinking about this, as much as we hate the BCS it has us interested and has gotten us talking (as well as a lot of other people obviously) Kinda boosting the overall interest in all these games and shit, nobody ever really looks at it from that prospective.
The thing is, WVU could possibly be ranked as high as #6 in the BCS. Thats a #3 and a # 6 team in the country that Rutgers could possibly have wins over. That paired with a undefeated record , to me, screams National Title game. I dont care. Thats impressive enough. I've seen enough of Rutgers to believe that they can challenge any team in the country.

Yeah I got a feeling Rutgers could finish undefeated and still be on the outside looking in. I got a feeling they are going to lose to WVU anyway, but we'll see

I think you're right Outlaw... especially if ND knocks off USC.
The way I see it it will be the winner of the OSU/UM game and the winner of the SEC Championship (UF/Arkansas) in the BCS final.
The loser of the SEC game gets to play ND (who would be #3 at the time) in the Sugar Bowl.

This is one of the first weeks that I like the rankings.
I do think that if Rutgers can go undefeated that they will be and should be in the BCS Championship though. To have a team go undefeated in a BCS conference and to beat two top-10 teams, you can not give the nod to a team that has a loss. I don't think Rutgers is the second best team in the nation, but it would be a complete travesty if an undefeated BCS conference team was left out.

I would think that is how it would work out, but I would also think that from an objective standpoint, Arkansas has played better than USC ever since that game.
USC is in third right now though, which means that they are going to be in unless Rutgers pulls something crazy off or unless they screw it up somewhere.

USC beat them 50-14, its not like they just got by them. They fucking destoried them. It was also John David Bootys first start, as well as breaking in a new trio of running backs - yet they still romped them. Granted McFadden wasn't 100%, he still played.

I kind of hope that happens. I didn't want to see a Big East team in there to begin with, because I don't think any of them are the second best team. Based on the system though, Rutgers would have to be the team if they went undefeated.
As for the National Championship, assuming Rutgers loses, it will be Big Ten vs. Southeastern. USC could potentially slip in there if: They win out and Arkansas wins the SEC. If USC loses again, than the SEC champion will be in. I hope USC doesn't make it though.

For real? I read on a forum that said he was reported as not even nearly that much. DUnno, I can see a lineman playing with a broke toe (Done it before...) but a runningback? I would think that'd be pretty rough. But yeah, they had a rough go at it the first game. They didn't know who was going to be their QB, stud is down. I would like to see them play again though.

Darren McFadden had nine carries for 42 yards for Arkansas. McFadden, last year's Southeastern Conference freshman of the year, dislocated his toe in late July in a fight outside a Little Rock club. His status had been uncertain, but he was on the field for the Razorbacks' first play from scrimmage.
"It's a little sore, but it's all right," said McFadden, who said he felt about 80 to 85 percent.

While a second game could be different, I don't see why that matters, what happened happened. If Arkansas wins the SEC with 1 loss and USC has one loss - Its gotta be USC.

Butch Davis got hired at UNC, surprised there hasn't been more talk of this. He is the one who recruited all the guys at The U who Coker won with in 2001.
http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=2392416 apparently this guy is the next Barry Sanders: number one recruited running back this year. Probably will end up going to either Miami or Florida State.
The thing about big high school recruits though is that they probably already come from great high school programs with great weight rooms, so in many cases they have already reached their full potential when they sign on to big teams. Often what you will see are guys like Ray Rice who may not be fully developed yet, so when they go to college they reach that level of skill, maybe even gain more, that a top USC recruit may have had in their senior year of high school.
And of course you got the guys like Adrian Peterson, Reggie Bush, Vince Young, and Noel Devine who scouts know will probably be NFL stars by their junior year of high school.

Nah he won't make it. I seriously doubt he can make the grades. Plus, didn't Deion adopt him and like the second week he was living with him he stole his car and went to be with his babies momma (one of them I guess?) I've seen every highlight video of him since he was a freshman. Kid is freaking gross, but I don't think he'll ever make it to college personally...

They'll hook him up somehow. Frank Gore got into the U by claiming he was mentally challenged.
But yeah he was adopted by Deion, I haven't heard that story about him stealing his shit though. Could have happened, but I remember hearing Deion still giving him love after Devine decided to go back and live in his old hometown.

If that stands (and you add in UM) 4 more Top 10 teams will fall by the way side this weekend.
Sunday night's BCS standings are going to be quite interesting.
Rutgers will not enjoy there mid December bowl game. Talk about dropping the ball.
I'm telling you. Arkansas will be in the National Title game if they beat LSU and win the SEC championship game.

I hate to say it, since USC is getting pretty boring with them in there all the time but yeah...

I talking about the BCS point system. If Arkansas beats LSU and Florida, they'll probably be number 2 in the BCS system. Its not like it matters who's better, the only thing that matters is who has more points in the BCS. It would most likely be Arkansas
OSU was up 14 points twice in that game. So it was as rediculous as you think.

Like Stima said, if Arkansas and USC both have one loss, even though Arkansas is the better team (IMO) and has done a lot more since losing to USC, all practical logic (being subjective to this BCS system) says you can not give it to Arkansas when USC beat them and has the same record.

You're not understanding me. The BCS isnt built apon opinion. If it was, popular opinion would say Michigan, USC, or Notre Dame. It's built apon numbers. The numbers will add up in the end and if Arkansas wins out, beating #9 LSU ( possibly ranked higher this week ) and # 4 Florida ( possibly ranked as high as #2 or #3 this week ), they'll probably be #2. Its happend like 3 times in the past 5 years. It doesnt matter who you think should get in. The BCS will go by its formula and right now (to me atleast ) it appears that if Arkansas wins out, they will be #2 in the BCS.

In case you didn't know this, the two largest factors in the BCS formula are the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Harris Poll, so they are based a lot around opinion.
Strenght of schedule is also a huge factor and also plays a role in the poll voting.
If Notre Dame wins out and beats USC and Arkansas wins out. You're telling me Notre Dame is better then Arkansas? I dont think so.

11-19-2006, 01:24 PM
No, not at all. But if USC wins out and so does Arkansas, than USC will have the advantage because USC beat Arkansas. If Notre Dame wins out, then they are both 11 win teams, and most people would agree Arkansas is the better team.
Also, can I just say how crrazy it is that we are talking about Arkansas for a national title right now. They weren't even ranked preseason. Good for them, that's sweet.

BCWWF
11-19-2006, 07:09 PM
Does Michigan have any more games? I thought yesterday was their last, and if it was, then I really don't see Notre Dame sneaking in. If Michigan has another game and loses it, then maybe, but nobody is going to vote an 11-1 Notre Dame team in above an 11-1 Michigan team, when Notre Dame lost to Michigan and Michigan lost to the nations best team.
So basically, I am hoping Notre Dame doesn't get in too, but I don't see that being likely.
Right now, I think this is the order of teams most likely to be No. 2:
1. Michigan
2. Florida
3. USC
4. Arkansas
5. Notre Dame
I only say Michigan because they are still No. 2 in the BCS right now, so something big would probably have to happen in the SEC title game to get them over.
Jesus Shuttlesworth

Michigan/Ohio State is always the last game of the year for both teams.
Arkansas has to play LSU this Saturday and could very easily drop that game but I think they would still be in the title game wouldn't they? Since they are currently undefeated in the SEC. So say that happens and then they beat Florida and ND beats USC it SHOULD be Michigan but will it? I really don't know, ND could riding the hype machine right into the National Championship game (where they will probably lose by 20 points)

How is ND ahead of Arkansas in the top 25?
The SEC title game is locked. Arkansas vs Florida. No matter what happens in the LSU game.
Forget about Notre Dame, if Notre Dame gets in over Michigan, reguardless of whether they beat USC or not, this whole things is completly fucked up once again and deserves no attention whatsoever. Notre Dame can not possibly get in over Michigan. That would be the supidest thing ever. Not after Michigan crushed Notre Dame.
USC however, could sneak past Michigan with a win over ND, if the BCS points work out that way.
Arkansas could also sneak past all of them if they win out. It happend like 3 years ago, i think it happend to USC. USC played there last game and LSU snuck in because they won the SEC championship ( extra game ).
I dont care how much talk this shit generates, its stupid. Someone is getting screwed reguardless. Its just fucking stupid.

If Arkansas ends up losing to LSU but beating Florida, they are still out of the game. They have to win out to have a chance, so does Florida.
I agree with RP, Notre Dame should under no circumstances get in over Michigan, and I don't think they will.
If Rutgers beats WVU, they're probably still in a BCS game, but i'm not sure cause there some rule where if a mid major ranks top 12 in the BCS, they get a automatic bid into a BCS game. That mid major would be Boise St. Who is the only other undefeated team on the year.
Arkansas obviously has to win out to have any shot at the NC title game, which brings me back to my original point. If ND beats USC, Arkansas wins out and theirs no possible way ND should leap frog Michigan, then it would be Arkansas or Michigan right??
Jesus Shuttlesworth
11-20-2006, 11:03 AM
Yeah the Big East champ has a BCS game no matter what, so if they beat WVU they would have the head to head againest Louisville and WVU so they'd be in.
Did they add another BCS game for this season? I thought they did for some reason so now there is 5 instead of 4. Cuz if not, theres gonna be Michigan, ND and Boise St all eligable for at-large bids and the old system only had 2 at larges

11-20-2006, 02:06 PM
Yeah there's 5 games. The Fiesta Bowl and the BCS Title Game aren't the same thing even though they're played in the same place. So it's those 2 plus the Sugar, Orange, and Rose like normal. I dunno how the at large thing is gonna work this year because the Big 12 and ACC are fucking up the rankings. The way things are now it looks like Wisconsin is gonna play in a BCS bowl which I dunno how that could happen but whatever.

Big East (Louisville probably since WVU is gonna beat Rutgers I think)
ACC (No clue..probably Georiga Tech)
Big 12 (Texas probably)
Big 10 (Ohio State)
Pac10 (USC)
SEC (Florida or Arkansas)
At large
Norte Dame
Michigan
Boise State
And probably gonna come down to loser of the Arkansas/Florida game or Wisconsin

Hopefully its BC playing in the BCS game as the ACC representive though..still got an outside shot at it
I could be totally wrong here, but theirs some rule that says if team like Boise St gets the top 12 BCS, they get a automatic bid and if the ACC team has 4 losses and still win the conference, they get there BCS bid taken.
Again, i could be wrong, but i swear i heard something like that.

One conference champion from among Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, Sun Belt, and Western Athletic Conferences will automatically qualify to play in a BCS bowl if it is: (1) ranked among the top 12 teams in the final BCS Standings; or (2) ranked among the top 16 teams in the final BCS Standings and ranked higher than the champion of one of the conferences whose champion has an annual automatic berth in a BCS bowl
Just read that online, I don't think they take their place. I think you are thinking of the rule where if the conference champion finishes out of the top 12 in the BCS 4 years in a row that conference loses its automatic BCS bid.
BCWWF

Would that theoretically mean that if Boise State could finish top 12 in the BCS for three more years then the WAC could become a BCS conference?
Jesus Shuttlesworth

I don't think thats in the rules and I don't think it should be either.
Since it would just be one team winning it every single time.

The way things are now it looks like Wisconsin is gonna play in a BCS bowl which I dunno how that could happen but whatever.Totally forgot about this when I posted (but got reminded since Wisconsin took a bowl bid) but only 2 teams from one conference can play in the BCS (Michigan and Ohio State will be doing that from the Big 10)

Jesus, what a day in football...
Texas loses to A&M (YES!)
Arkansas loses to LSU (Damn, they were a fun cinderella team)
So still in line for No. 2: Florida, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame
I really think that regardless, if Florida wins the SEC they should be in.
I was really hoping for Arkansas to win out and fuck everything up. O well.
It seems like we're doing this every week, but here we go again.
If Notre Dame beats USC, and Florida loses, its gotta be Michigan. Because Michigan crushed Notre Dame.
If USC beats Notre Dame and Florida wins.. I dont even know. I was really clouded with the thought of Arkansas winning it all. I looked at Florida's schedule and immediatly thought of how impressive it could look if they win out and win the SEC championship. Victorys over LSU, Tennessee, Georgia and potential wins over Florida St ( Huge rivalry game and FSU's defense is one of the best in the country ) and Arkansas, thats impressive to me. Compared to UCS, whos has wins over Nebraska, Oregon, Cal and potentially Notre Dame. I dunno. It's a toss up. Probably USC, but not by much. Michigans big wins...Notre Dame and Wisconsin. Everything else wasnt that impressive.
This is going to be ugly
I heard a great conspiracy theory. If Nevada beats Boise St. today, they stand to lose atleast 1.1 million dollars for the athletic program, because that would knock Boise St. out of any BSC contention. So people are wondering if Nevada would throw the game.
I personally dont think that will happen. Infact i think Nevada will win outright.

In all honesty, I don't think you can tell a Div. 1 football player to blow a game. Those guys work way too hard to step aside for a monetary issue. If Boise State deserves the 1.1 million, they will beat Nevada.

But still ND had so many chances to keep it close or go a head. Still USC is the better team by far.

So even with the win over UCLA that could happen next Saturday, do you still reward the Trojans. Or do you give Michigan their rematch? I'm a huge Michigan fan but I said USC had to blow Notre Dame out (which they did) and they have to beat UCLA.
It's gonna be interesting to see what the BCS rankings are today. I do not feel though, that USC will be above Michigan yet.

I'm sorry, but this is BS. USC should NOT be ahead of Michigan in the BCS. How does USC lose to an unranked team (Oregon state) yet still get ranked higher than Michigan. Meanwhile, Michigan loses to the best team in the country in a game that they were competitive in. You can make the argument that USC won more games against ranked opponents but in my opinion that loss to Oregon State hurt them.
It seems that very few people want the rematch, and I agree. But the rematch features the 2 best teams in the country. in my opinion, USC doesn't belong anywhere near a championship game.
BCWWF

I never thought Michigan was any better than USC or Florida, the only difference was that they played a schedule that allowed them to remain undefeated the longest. Florida is the second best team, in my opinion, and I would like to see them have a shot.
