Ok so I got it yesterday, started it up, and about 7 seconds in it wouldn't register when I tried to upstrum. Not when I played songs, not when I was navigating through menus, nothing. But then I rotated it a little while holding up and then it kicked in and now it's not giving me any problems from any position. Dunno though, I'm still pretty sure it'll break down on me and should return it just to be safe but whatever.

Welcome to the community.

Easy is for girlfriends and little bros/sisters, don't get used to it. I personally recommend Medium until you regularly finish songs with high 80 or 90 percentiles. Then you should start playing on Hard, get your ass kicked until you start finishing songs on high 70's. You don't ever have to play the game on Expert but that's the most rewarding experience to me.

Some Guitar Hero fans have been unhappy with the cost of downloadable songs for the series since its debut on the Xbox 360 earlier this year. Microsoft and Activision are set to silence those complaints for at least one day, as the pair announced that in appreciation to their fans, they will offer the "Mjolnir Mix" of the Halo theme song as a free downloadable track for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on Thanksgiving.

Written and partly performed by Martin O'Donell and Michael Salvatori, the track also features some guitar shredding courtesy of real-life guitar hero Steve Vai. Vai got his start playing with Frank Zappa, has since played with Whitesnake, participated in the guitar-centric G3 tour, and showcased his skills in the 1986 film Crossroads, where he was the devil's surrogate axe-man in a guitar duel for the soul of Ralph Macchio's character.

This is the second time Activision has produced free Guitar Hero III track downloads. The first such offering allowed players to play the game's three boss battles all the way through as standard songs apart from the game's career mode.

The makers of Rock Band announced that on the release of the game full albums will be available to download. One of them is Metallica: Black Album

Now since the release date has come and gone there has been no full albums released but just regular track packs.

I assume they will get to the full albums eventually....

Are you doing face off or pro face off?

Picking medium in face-off online is kinda cheap, just because its easier to beat someone on a higher difficulty if if they havn't completely mastered it.

If thats the case, I'd just do pro-face offs and co-op till you get good enough to play hard, as hard vs expert face offs are far more balanced than medium vs hard/expert.

So my thoughts on this.

Lincoln Park should not be on here. I don't hate the band, but their music is not made in any way, for Guitar Hero. Terrible, terrible note chart and totaly unfun. I don't care if it was a popularity choice. There are other mainstream bands out there that would be much more fun to play than this.

The Used song is pretty easy, but like many rockband tracks its easy AND fun. I swear harmonix must have snuck in and wrote this chart. So, like I said, its fun, but its not gonna blow your mind or anything.

Mastadon- This will blow your mind. Awesome song and really fun notechart, with a lot of variety.

So, yeah this pack comes with an LP song that you will probably only play once, but the mastadon song and the fairly good used song make it worth it for me.

Extremeoduro- I basically only got this because I like the band. Not their best work, and I wouldn't reccomend it to people who aren't a fan of the band. Which is probably all of you.

Antisocial-meh, sums this one up pretty well.

German one which I can't be bothered to look up- My favorite of the new dlc. Very catchy song. You'll find yourself singing it, even tho you dont know the lyrics. I personally am a master of jibberish lyric substitution. Anyhow, its long, has fun solos, and the chorus sections are also a blast. Buy it.

The way I've been advised to do it, and the way which has worked for me since GH2 is to use your index finger for the first two buttons, middle finger on yellow, third finger blue and little finger orange. You're approaching it the right way, it's just practice. Keep doing the songs on hard and you'll get better at it.

Finally mastered most of the songs on Medium, got 5 stars on all of them except for the obvious exceptions (FUCK YOU SLAYER!)

Done my first set on Hard, nothing above 85% but I’m happy, slowly improving, can only get in an hour a week, so I’m happy with my progress

It is meant to be played with the guitar controller. The only reason they also sell the games seperately is for people who already have the guitar controller. The whole point is to make you feel like you are playing the song. Thats the appeal. You obviously wouldn't get that using just the controller.

There's like two songs in the game that use GYO chord, one of them being Dragonforce on expert, and the other is one of the bonus songs on expert I berieve. Most chords are easy; if you practice enough by sheer attrition you should get them. Hammer-ons are mad fun to do, play Jonas like 500 times and you will be masterful.
