I guess Bret never saw Kurt Angle coming. I'm pretty sure Kurt at his craziest would beat Bret at his finest.

What do you say.

Kurt Angle could take that title and I would not object. I honestly believe he's the best professional wrestler ever.

Kurt Angle is the man. No questions asked. Bret Hart is a bitch. No explanations needed.

I agree. Kurt can play any role and is about the level of performer as Hart was in his heyday. But I could never buy Hart as a heel. He never looked convincing imo. That's where Angle is better. Hart could play babyface and that's about it. Angle feuded with EVERYONE and I can't remember one feud that was boring. Including his final feud with Cena.

Hart, despite my personal opinion about him, is one of the best ever - but Angle - in his prime - was better than Hart in his prime.

There isn't anything Kurt Angle can't do in wrestling.

Kurt past his prime is still better than Hart during his prime.

Bret Hart was easily my favorite growing up, and he will always have a special place in my heart...but Kurt Angle is the best of all time.

Angle is highly overrated.

Wrestling wise, he thinks like an amateur, but he forgets to sell, he forgets to use proper psychology.

As for the entertainment side of things, Angle was fine as a dufus, but that's about it. Crazy, RAAAAWRRRR Angle made me take a piss break every time he came on tv.

And a dufus cannot compare to the Excellence that is the Hitman. When Angle gets reactions that Bret was getting with ease, then we can talk.

I dont see why. Angle acting as if he could be anything but a dufus just wouldnt take. His intense promos and his drooling and foaming at the mouth that you saw later on in his wwe career was just pretty laughable. How anyone could take him seriously I do not know. He couldnt pull that off well at all. And the fans didnt buy it. He looked like he needed to take a serious shit for most of those remaining months or years whatever it was.

He couldnt even find his own fucking entrance music.

Angle did such a great job copying Austin. When Austin came out with the beer truck, he hit the ring with the truck (I'm pretty sure he did). Nice to see even a small detail like that mimicked.

Promo wise he is better for sure. But Bret's matches are a lot more entertaining. Bret is easier to watch for me. Kurt probably one day could suprass Bret as the greatest wrestler ever, but he has only been a pro for about 8 years. At this point in Bret's carrer he was just getting his first tag title (maybe not even). And I haven't seen Bret's Calgary work but I can only assume it was better than his WWE work, given the greatness of his opponents. Tough debate, but I say Bret because he is a legend and Kurt isn't yet.

KOTR 93 is just one example that immediately came to mind that disproves your theory.

Angle wishes he could work with just about anyone and make them look good. It's a rare gift though.

Angle looked good because Benoit made him look good. When he wasnt wrestling Benoit, Angle looked inconsistent, and plainly above average athletically, but as a pro wrestler, he was not the man.
Shamrock was a great shoot fighter, but not a great pro wrestler. Same deal applies here. They were good, but not even top 5.

The best ever was clearly Kevin Nash. If you disagree you don't know wrestling and you should just go away and the second best wrestler ever was clearly D-Lo Brown.

oh yeah, Bart Hart or whatever his name was can't even hold the jock strap of Shawn Michaels who was a great rassler. If Brot were so good, he would have beaten Michaels at Survivor series 97!

Bret is abetter pro wrestler n story teller than Angle.Bret could adapt styles in the ring from brawling with Austin to technical wrestling with Benoit. All without being hooked on drugs. If you believe Angle surpasses bret, youre fuckn. stupid

Justing based off of the people mentioned on this page alone...

Flair > Michaels > Austin > Angle > Benoit > Edge > the stick > Hart

James Steele

If Michaels wouldn't have had to retire in 1998 and missed the "Attitude Boom", Michaels would easily have been considered one of the greatest of all time no questions asked (of course his back injury was just to get out of jobbing right Rob?).

Jeritron
08-07-2007, 07:49 PM
Him not being a part of the big attitude boom sucks in the sense that we didn't get to see him be a part of that era and be surrounded by stars like Austin, Rock, HHH, Foley, Angle, Jericho etc.

The same can be said about Bret. It would have been amazing in theory for him to be around during that time.

HOWEVER, if it weren't for Michaels absence (and Bret's departure for that matter) that boom period as we call it wouldn't have been the same. I'd go as far as to say it may never have even happened. The same stars wouldn't have risen to their spots, and the freshness of the scenery and faces wouldn't be there.

Also, they may have gotten stale. Don't get me wrong, it'd have been great to see Bret vs HHH in 2000, or HBK vs The Rock and all that jazz. But a big part of the appeal of how great those things would have been is as a result of them not taking place. The want for HBK to come back grew more and more simply because he wasn't around during this time.

P.S. HBK could have, and was supposed to, be back in action and part of the WWF circa WM17.
