Is it odd to anyone else that Taker wasn't there?

I mean, I'm sure there's a reason he wasn't, but I don't know...just doesn't seem complete somehow or something. Dunno.

Yeah, I cried. Could not help it.

That was unreal

Afterlife

"Wasn't as bad"? This was everything I could have ever hoped for Flair and more. It makes the ending to his match last night seem like a poor send-off.

C'mon, I'm doin' my best to be nice. It was a great moment, indeed, and I expected the worst. I'm attempting to show a little respect.

Azriel
04-01-2008, 12:11 AM
yeah, where was Taker?

Jeritron

I could have watched that all night

Probably an in-character thing.

Takers never a part of that stuff to preserve kayfabe

Jeritron

Which they need to get over

I was actually surprised to see Festus out there.

I'd wager any amount of money Taker is right behind the curtain waiting for Flair

KingofOldSchool
04-01-2008, 12:13 AM
Just imagine the pop that Sting would have gotten if they somehow gotten him to come in.

Innovator
04-01-2008, 12:14 AM
HES A MAN CALLED STING

would've been great, but having a TNA contract would be a pickle

TerranRich
04-01-2008, 12:14 AM
Taker is the only one that preserves kayfabe no matter what, even with the final Flair send-off.

And Afterlife, I didn't mean anything by that, I know how you felt about the entire thing.

UmbrellaCorporation

I'd wager any amount of money Taker is right behind the curtain waiting for Flair

yeah, I'd take that. I'm sure there are like over 9000 people ready to greet him backstage too.

SammyG
04-01-2008, 12:14 AM
A normal Marc Callaway and Steve Borden appearance would have been nice, but this was as perfect as it could get. Gonna miss the Nature Boy, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

TerranRich
04-01-2008, 12:15 AM
I kept saying that a Sting appearance would have been insane, but it just wasn't in the cards (or card, har har) I suppose.

BigDaddyCool
04-01-2008, 12:15 AM
I am disappointed Sting didn't come out. They could have figured something out.

TerranRich
04-01-2008, 12:15 AM
Yeah, this was perfect even without Taker or Sting. GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY!

Azriel
04-01-2008, 12:15 AM
I'm kinda suprised Nash didn't come out, seeing as how he was there at Mania last night.

TerranRich
04-01-2008, 12:15 AM
Hell I'm sure TNA management wouldn't ahve minded letting a few of their guys appear there, let alone just Sting. But I guess it just wasn't possible.

TerranRich
04-01-2008, 12:16 AM
Nash was there at Mania? Where, backstage or in the audience??

Jeritron
04-01-2008, 12:16 AM
I missed Austin more than Taker

Afterlife
04-01-2008, 12:16 AM
Festus was in character, though, which is why I was surprised to see him.

Jeritron
04-01-2008, 12:17 AM
I bet TNA would have let Steve Borden and Kevin Nash and whoever else they wanted to come out and say bye come out and say bye

HTrain90
04-01-2008, 12:17 AM
What a perfect ending. All those whose careers Flair influenced all introduced individually to say their goodbyes, and then the entire roster and on-site staff out there. What a moment. I've never bawled my eyes out watching RAW, but seeing the likes of Y2J, HBK, and Batista did it.

And the Four Horsemen. Freaking epic.

Thank you, Ric. Always THE MAN.

The only things missing were Piper and Sting, but otherwise PERFECT.

If only Hennig was still alive...

I missed Festus drooling and slack-jawed, lumbering down the ramp. Probably better that I did. :P

Pretty good raw tonight, one of the highlights has to be just when i thought Ashley couldn't look more like a crack whore she outdoes herself..again.

Nice send off for flair, though i wish they just would have done it without everyone having their belts glued to their shoulder or coming out in gimmick fashion. Was suprised not to see Vince out there, though if theyre bring out a new flair dvd theres bound to be more going on after it went off air that will probably be included in the new dvd set.

I couldn't help but think of Eddie and Benoit when I was watching this, especially when I saw Malenko and Y2J. Those two (Eddie and Benoit) had their careers so greatly influenced by Naitch, and I'm sure they're smiling down on Ric and thanking him from above.

I'm going to raise a glass to toast the 30 plus years that Ric Flair has spent busting his ass off in the name of entertainment. He had a hell of a match at wrestlemania, and with who he has influenced over the years I can promise you that we will not soon forget the name of the limousine ridin', jet flyin', kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin' son of a gun. Diamonds are forever, and so is Ric Flair.

And now, one last time.

I'm sure the in-person retirement party will have more people and deeper meaning than a 20-minute tv segment, guys. Flair stated that the title matches should be main events at Mania, and not his retirement match b/c the titles were more important -- and he was right. As much as I was not fond of him, he and I shared a common idea: nothing is more important than the show. He probably insisted that Taker and any others not break Kayfabe for the sake of his leaving.

Was suprised how big David Flair has got, never got too see wrestlemania thanks to a fuckup by virgin media, read people talking about him last night though. He's literally 2-3 times the size he was, has he just stopped wrestling or what? Last i read he was in the indies.

From PWInsider

After Raw went off the air, The Undertaker and Vince McMahon came to the ring to pay tribute to Flair. Undertaker got down on one knee before Flair while McMahon raised Flair's arm, then hugged him. Flair called for his family to the ring. He took his coat off, did a strut and dropped an elbow on his coat. Flair thanked everyone, then walked up the aisle shaking hands with everyone as the crowd gave him a standing ovation. Flair got a kiss on the cheek from Stephanie McMahon as he exited. As Flair got to the top of the ramp, all the wrestlers bowed before Flair.

Watched RAW at a friends house, so didnt get to be here for the good time on the boards, but this was a great show. Loved the intro of the Cena and HHH music just to have Orton come out. Cryme Tyme is back! I marked out there too. Mickie got on tv even for a minor segment.

Then we have the Flair sendoff. I was waiting all the way down to the last second for someone to crash the party, but it never did. But I think its cool if this really was his final time competing in the ring, this was the way to do it. I give this RAW a Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
