I'm going to have to agree with Rob here. This is a very VERY high risk move on the WWE's part (and I'm almost certain that this will backfire).

To the best of my knowledge, CM Punk had not beaten any credible opponents (1 on 1) prior to today. CM Punk is loved amongst a select group of smarks, but most wrestling fans barely know who he is (let alone care about him).

The only way to salvage CM Punk at this point, would be for him to defeat his main-event challengers in hard fought 5 star matches (CM Punk will REALLY have to prove that he belongs as a world champ).

However - the idea of CM Punk beating top-tier guys now, will look somewhat ridiculous (since CM Punk hasn't beaten anyone credible one-on-one). Heck - Punk lost to Chavo Guerrero CLEANLY at No Way Out!

I hope the WWE know what they're doing on this one. There's a CHANCE that this can be played off right, but I highly doubt that it will. Unfortunately, I think Rob just might be 100% correct here.

JBL really should have won. This is ridiculous. I even wouldn't have minded if they had the match end inconclusively with Cena's interference.... but they just buried the top and most entertaining heel on Raw to a guy who has no business being champ in the first place.

Also, Punk is a good champion. He's no Triple H, but he's probably the best choice for a champion on the Raw roster.

JBL can't maneuver in the ring, HBK doesn't need the belt, and Jericho isn't ready or over enough for another run.

Punk is a young guy who can benefit from the B Belt, and he's under-rated enough not to steal the spotlight from Hunter, Cena, Batista, or Edge.

TECHNICALLY since the title was vacant and awarded to Orton, it didn't really CHANGE hands as much as it was simply put in Orton's hands meaning it CHANGED hands twice...

Sounds like an awesome RAW, to be hones. Punk bringing the mark out moments, Cena sounds more tolerable (putting over Punk and hanging with Cryme Tyme), Santino and Noble sound hilarious (that would be an awesome tag team), JBL is an awesome heel character, Cody Rhodes is freshened up, Mickie James and Jillian are hot, Kane sounds like an evil monster again, there is a Katie Lea sighting, there is a Paul Burchill sighting, JR is gone, Triple H is gone, Edge sounds awesome, Kofi sounds awesome, Jericho is always awesome, and it's about time someone got disqualified for using the tights and being caught.

Going to watch this week. And next week. :y:
