View Full Version : Ken Kennedy as a face can fuck right off (Who annoys you most?)

Yuck. I loved the guy as the shit-talking heel who would fight anybody for any reason, but this watered down, crowd-pandering dillweed he's portraying now is in contention for the most annoying character on television. His ring work is...fine as it's ever been, I guess, but I just can't get behind his face character. Maybe it's just because I always like heels more, but he just makes my skin itch now.
What do you guys think about Kennedy? Also, to add another dimension to the thread, who is the most annoying CHARACTER in wrestling today?

but Santino can seriously fucking die right now

Santino still makes me laugh. I also like the character's total denial of how much his win-loss record sucks.
Kennedy just went face for pretty much no reason. Why would he start high fiving the fans just because he had beef with Regal? Just didn't make much sense to me. I think they could have turned him a little better.

Yeah, I pretty much agree. When the Rock went face he didn't go around sucking the first row's cock, he was the exact same character except feuding with Shane instead of Austin so it was okay to like him. It looked like Kennedy was going to do that when he started getting into with Regal, but now, no.
I find Finaly/Hornswoggle together annoying. I know he's a dad now, but he's supposed to love to fight and stuff, yet he hands out hats and toys to kids. That's not very threatening.

The only reason i can see they turned Kennedy was for Behind Enemy Lines III. Which they may or may not plug him to death in.
But fact is, for me, kennedy is better as a heel.
Over a year ago, on SD, OLD ENTRANCE MUSIC, No sweatpants, back to his cool blue, black and white top and wrestling attire.... This guy was on the rise. All he says now is that he hails from Green bay but he's kicking it in <insert city>. Way to kill a push if anything.
I like the guy, I don't like WWE's current use of him.

07-27-2008, 06:34 PM
I like Mr. Kennedy. He seems to play the asshole when it's left up to him, but the WWE does have him pandering to the fans. I wish there was some reason for it. Why can't they just let him be Mr. Kennedy and let the fans love him?
And yeah, Santino is definitely the worst thing in a WWE with Snitsky on the roster. He has to get my vote. The character is just not threatening. Finlay as a happy-go-lucky face using Hornswoggle's music is damn infuriating.
No one said either of those gimmicks weren't awful as well.
A lot of shit in WWE is awful and still quite out weight the good.

Yeah, Finlay and Hornswoggle annoy me even more than Mr. Kennedy. I forgot all about them. Heel Finlay was sweet, but now.... :nono:
Thinking about it, I hope I'm not just incapable of liking faces. I don't think I am. Kofi Kingston is sweet, and The Hardyz are OK...but I can't think of too many more faces that I like.

Old WWE versus new WWE.
Well, relatively, anyway.
All the new faces have to be babyfaces, and Cena and Orton should prove that.WWE has gone back to the idea of marketing a child-friendly, good guys win sort of era, and so the guys you cheer have to be "good."
The Rock might well have failed out in this environment. Same with Austin.

I love Kennedy and I'm pissed he's not getting any kind of push. Yes, this character is terrible and they definitely should have turned him in a different way (a better way). He's great on the stick and awesome in the ring. The man should be World Champion.
As for most annoying character, are we sticking with WWE or is TNA acceptable? In WWE, I'm gonna say Finlay/Swog. They were tolerable when Swog was helping Finlay win matches, but now it just sucks. Is Finlay ever going to come out to his own music again?
In TNA, it's hard to pick just one. Super Eric is awful. Curry Man is awful (yes I said it). "Black Machismo" is awful. Rock and Rave Infection are intolerable except for Christy Hemme being on TV.
That said, the worst in TNA has gotta be Frank Trigg. I didn't think anyone could be more annoying and idiotic than Don West, but I stand corrected. One Kurt Angle is bad enough, we don't need to see a wannabe twin of his running around.

I agree, Kennedy is better as a heel, he is just plain stupid as a face. They should have him turn Heel by teaming with Edge on Smackdown.
I find Viladmer Kozlov the most annoying right now. He sucks so bad its not funny and I hate jobber matches. They should get him away from TV ASAP.

Kennedy is exactly the same as face, a boring untalented piece of shit who should be jobbing to Hornswoggle every week.
The only difference is that he's being pushed as a face, that's why everyone hates him now.
If you're a face and you're not Shawn Michaels, the IWC hates you.

Yeah thats a problem, the internet has gotten a culture where it's "cool" to hate whoever the WWE pushes as a good guy nowdays because the only good guys ur suppose to like are "cool" ones that are actually not good guys but more like tweeners when real good guys are hated like Cena, Tista and Lashley (was). CM Punk is a face thats liked but thats because he is a "cool" guy character and not really a "good" guy character like it is meant to be. People blame the WWE for not enjoying it but they should often blame themselves because its the internet culture to hate popular things that makes the trouble here, not the WWE.

Finlay and Hornswoggle annoy me the most right now. Pretty much everyone with little kids as their biggest fanbase, I usually can't stand. But how Hornswoggle can win matches with a damn squirt gun really is annoying. Face Finlay is alright, but he also plays to the little kids too much.

So is CM Punk a heel? Because people have even gone so far as to pretend he outpopped DX or that his responses are better than they are on a weekly basis. Or Jericho? Hell, half the IWC still gobbles Triple H's cock when he's a shitty face.

I don't know if that's the case, really. I just think that there are different ways for somebody to be a face without being a crowd-pandering kiss-ass, and a lot of people get sick of seeing the same schtick. That's part of it, and furthermore, the way they just turned him basically out of nowhere and just expected you to accept him as a face just bothered me. They could have built the turn up more somehow.
Think back to Batista turning on Triple H. That was a face turn done BEAUTIFULLY, and I loved Batista for it, even though he was a face. Know what I mean?

Whilst this has been brought up (again)...I was watching Survivor Series 07 the other night so this is fresh in my mind...
I understand this "Punk outpopped DX" thing has been running for a while, I also understand that KK has been leading the argument against the above statement. I remember reading that KK (amongst other reasons) said that Punk's pop was a direct result of being put over by DX.
HOWEVER, the crowd started chanting Punk's name of it's own accord. Not whilst they were all doing the "Let's see which side of the crowd is the loudest" stuff. Not during any point where DX were 'controlling the crowd'. In fact the crowd started to chant Punk's name just as HHH was about to start his "Are you ready?".
At that point - seeing the reaction to Punk - HHH then brought Punk into the mic work (admittedly helping to put Punk over). Whether Punk outpopped DX is a matter for debate. The fact that the crowd chose to cheer Punk over DX is hard to deny.

You're exactly right. Except, I would like to add that a pop can generally be described as a positive reaction. Having your name chanted could technically be classified as a pop. Hence, CM Punk "out-chanting" DX is synonymously CM Punk "out-popping" DX.
However, people continue to have their own little conspiracy theories about the event. It is no good to actually listen to what happened. Apparently that is not evidence that this [B]admittedly isolated[/I] event actually took place.

Anyone with an ear can tell what happened. The Hardys came out first, to a pretty nice pop. Then out comes CM Punk, to a comparable pop (it's hard to determine which is bigger to me). DX then comes out to the biggest entrance pop. The fans almost got an "HBK" chant started, even though Shawn looks like the biggest retard in the world acting like a toddler. Then Triple H leads a "crowd point-off" with Triple H taking one side, Shawn Michaels the opposite, with The Hardys and CM Punk respectively fielding the other two sides. After that, Triple H is about to do his "Are you ready?" spiel, but the fans cut him off with a "CM Punk" chant, which Triple H (wisely) acknowledges by letting Punk lead the DX shtick.
The crowd took a while to warm up through the entrances, but they were certainly most into Punk at the beginning of the match.

The major issue is that they generally get cheered for one thing, and then turned into a face which does another thing entirely. And 99% of the time, that other thing ends up being "kiss up to the fans," which was almost certainly the antithesis of what he was doing to get over in the first place.
I miss Eddie, because he was over as a face who still did a lot of the "bad" things that got him over. He lied. He cheated. He stole. He got mad pops. You don't need to blow the crowd to be a face, you don't need to be a superman, or whatever.
But again. This is the Anti-Tude Era. Vince is trying to appeal to the Saturday Morning cartoons crowd.

Unfortunately, when you're talking about outpopping DX, as I've explained to Noid (Who either is the dumbest poster on the board, or just likes to repost the same bullshit over and over again), you had the crowd on their feet and in the palm of their hands for DX. You also don't actually have a "versus" situation, so the notion of outpopping when a collective is clearly building off of one another is totally retarded.
Destor, like Noid, has Punks cock so far down his throat he might choke, often tries to pretend things are different, but that's probably just because of the disability of a meth addled mind.

Nor was it because he was "put over" by DX.

Ahhh...It's a shame you're back on Meth....
KK, you are socially retarded. You're one of those special needs folk who doesn't realise they are, but trust me, as a person who has worked with kids who need assistance, you are retarded.
It's really cute how you think we have a "you talk I listen" relationship, showing complete ignorance of the selective information situation the internet creates. As you "explain" something to me, I am not reading it. I need to consciously come back and actually see what you have written. After I have made my point perfectly clear, I often don't return to the thread. Your "explanation" doesn't even fall on ears, let alone deaf ones.
The crowd was not in the palm of the collective hand of DX. That's why they chanted for CM Punk as Triple H was about to do his shtick. Your "everyone's a winner" scenario is cute, but by your logic, there can't be a scene-stealer in a movie where everyone is getting along. So what you're saying is that if Funaki was teaming with Triple H, and the fans gave Triple H a standing ovation, and gave Funaki nothing, it is incorrect to say Triple H out-popped Funaki? You're a special needs kid, dude.
Your way of looking at things also makes assumptions. You're assuming that the fans cared about DX more, when there is little evidence to support it. If so, you'd think the fans would have been chanting for them, instead of their music getting a pop, and then the fans chanting for Punk. Perhaps they did like DX more? You've got no way of knowing that. The flip-side of the argument doesn't need to make these assumptions to be correct. CM Punk got his name chanted over DX. This is a fucking fact.
Destor, like Noid, has Punks cock so far down his throat he might choke, often tries to pretend things are different, but that's probably just because of the disability of a meth addled mind.
No, I don't have Punk's dick down my throat. I like Punk. I think he is a good-great wrestler, and a great promo guy when he's allowed to rip, but besides that, I am just going by my ears. I've also never seen Destor blindly praise CM Punk. I've seen you blindly bash him?
I havbe the DVD. DX literally had the crowd on their feet responding before Punk was invovled. Hmmmm...Noid doesn't seem to mention that part. And Destor's too busy circle jerking to bother, either.
What the fuck are you on about? Before what? All they did was make their entrance and do exactly what The Hardys and CM Punk did. Punk "became involved" before DX started their shtick. If you mean DX getting the best entrance pop, yes, I have mentioned it. You do not see it because you're retarded.
It is just as correct for me to assume that DX's recogniseable and popular music got the crowd on their feet as opposed to who DX are, if you're allowed to attribute the fans chanting for "CM Punk" when they really meant "DX." God, you are so hopeless sometimes.
Also, did Noid post the edited version of the video again? I'm wondering if he's ever seen the full version, or if this is part of the continued dishonesty of the "outpoppping" concept in the first place.
Destor's on meth, Noid, what's your excuse for being so stupid?
I'm not sure what version of the video I posted, to be honest. I did see the event on PPV, and I remember having a laugh to myself because the little internet darling that could was getting his name chanted over the top of the "biggest face act in the company" (more so than Cena at the time), as one-half of this childish act was about to start his shtick.
Triple H obviously didn't feel comfortable with the situation, because he improvised and let CM Punk deliver the "Are you ready?" line, probably to remind the crowd that DX and Punk were teammates for the night. And Punk did lose his undefeated streak to Hardcore Holly the following edition of ECW, and was then the first to go in the Extreme Elimination Chamber the following weekend. Just saying. If "DX were in control," none of that would have happened.
Even if you take the entrance pops into consideration (which I had anyway), it's the build that's important. If someone goes out there and gets nothing, and then gets something, they are successful. Punk getting a smaller entrance pop than DX can be easily explained. The crowd were getting warmed up. When all five guys were in the ring, all the cards were on the table. The Philly fans, ROH marks they were, chanted for CM Punk. End of discussion.

Irony is delicious. Unfortunately, it cannot be appreciated by all.
Also, do you realise how retarded your last paragraph is? If A is the same as B, and I am A, does that mean I am better than A because I am A + B? You've got to be fucking kidding me. Yes, he is. He's totally disregarding Noid's post. It's pretty funny.

KK, you are socially retarded. You're one of those special needs folk who doesn't realise they are, but trust me, as a person who has worked with kids who need assistance, you are retarded..
By "worked with," you mean "are," right?
I mean, ignore the fact that you're using the same line I used, almost verbatim. Hell, ignore the fact that you're at best, classic Aspergers. You're making a claim based on words you yourself frequently cannot understand.
And if that ain't the pot calling the kettle black...
It's really cute how you think we have a "you talk I listen" relationship
Which would be nice, were it, you know, true. You may infer this as true, you may assume it's true, but it is not true. Which is indicative of many of the problems in communication with you. Like how you asserted my stance was that Chris Jericho would never come back to WWE, even after explicitly shown quotes to the contrary.
showing complete ignorance of the selective information situation the internet creates.
Back to the "it would be great if it were true" element.
As you "explain" something to me, I am not reading it. I need to consciously come back and actually see what you have written.
*slow clap* Very good. Your grasp of the obvious is incredible! Do you want a cookie?
After I have made my point perfectly clear, I often don't return to the thread. Your "explanation" doesn't even fall on ears, let alone deaf ones.
Yet frequently, you reply to said explanations.
Besides, it is not my responsibility to monitor what you read. You're the only one to blame for your self-opted ignorance. That excuse only works sometimes, especially considering how often this isn't the case, so I'd wager you're just lying, but I can't prove that.
The crowd was not in the palm of the collective hand of DX.
Yes, which is why they were on their feet for DX.
That's why they chanted for CM Punk as Triple H was about to do his shtick.
Which is again, great, but ignores the response just seconds ago for DX. If your entire basis for "outpopping" is that they chanted his name while Hunter had a mic in his hands, you've got nothing to go on, because DX had already gotten a PHENOMENAL response. Sorry.
Your "everyone's a winner" scenario is cute, but by your logic, there can't be a scene-stealer in a movie where everyone is getting along.
It's not a scenario, it's one element mentioned, I think twice.
By the way, you can't extend the logic that way. For one thing, a scene stealer usually isn't coming off a hot performance by someone else.
You're taking a specific and trying to apply it generically. That's dishonest at the least, and most likely retarded.
So what you're saying is that if Funaki was teaming with Triple H, and the fans gave Triple H a standing ovation, and gave Funaki nothing, it is incorrect to say Triple H out-popped Funaki? You're a special needs kid, dude.
Based on a dishonest comparison you made up. If you have to make up reasons to trash me, seek help.
And no, I'm not saying "In (loaded circumstance Noid uses, which ignores context and reasoning), (loaded statement)."
In fact, that usually applies to any time you ask me "So what you're saying is..."
I've amde what I'm saying clear. If you're being honest about not reading after you've said your peace, you're still setting up a defense that ignorance is an excuse. Making blatant assumptions which counteract what I have said should only reflect poorly on you. Somehow, you keep trying to make you own ignorance my problem.
Your way of looking at things also makes assumptions.
I rely on fewer assumptions than you, actually.
Not to mention after all the assumptions you made in this here post, that's grossly hypocritical.
You're assuming that the fans cared about DX more, when there is little evidence to support it.
I'm actually not assuming anything. People were just on their feet at DX's beck and call just a few seconds before. I'm merely observing that which you seem to be ignoring.
If so, you'd think the fans would have been chanting for them
You mean like they were, mere seconds before.
instead of their music getting a pop, and then the fans chanting for Punk.
Too bad you're skipping a step. I've got the DVD, man. I've explained this before, and once again, "ignorance is not an excuse."
Perhaps they did like DX more? You've got no way of knowing that. The flip-side of the argument doesn't need to make these assumptions to be correct. CM Punk got his name chanted over DX. This is a fucking fact.
Except it's not a fact. Saying something is fact doesn't make it true if it's not.
I've also never seen Destor blindly praise CM Punk. I've seen you blindly bash him?
You're at least 50% lying there.
What the fuck are you on about? Before what? All they did was make their entrance and do exactly what The Hardys and CM Punk did. Punk "became involved" before DX started their shtick. If you mean DX getting the best entrance pop, yes, I have mentioned it. You do not see it because you're retarded.
You're either hevily redefining "entrance pop," or you're selectively applying it. Or, of course, just talking out your ass. Not sure which.
It is just as correct for me to assume that DX's recogniseable and popular music got the crowd on their feet as opposed to who DX are, if you're allowed to attribute the fans chanting for "CM Punk" when they really meant "DX." God, you are so hopeless sometimes.
No, it's not. And this is why it amuses me when someone who cannot even apply proper reason to a discussion calls someone retarded. You know, since the music was gone and all.
But then, you're doing another common "noidism." You just said you don't know what I'm talking about, and having continued to argue it. You can say it's hypothetical, but it often leads to your steadfest conclusions. First you assume, then it becomes hard fact, even if told explicitly that it's not.
I'm not sure what version of the video I posted, to be honest.
So you're relying on a version of the video you don't know about, and I'm relying on a DVD version. I'd even allow for edited crowd response, except the crowd was on their feet for DX, who were already in the ring.
As has been said before, nobody's saying CM didn't get his name chanted, or even that it wasn't a nice sized pop.
That's speculation and assumption, and if you want to go there, fine. But from someone talking about how my statements make assumptions, you really shouldn't be bolstering your own assertions with similar assumptions.
And the entire arena practically responded to DEEEEEE ECKSSSSSSS!
You can make as many back end justifications as you want (such as "the crowd was getting warmed up"), but....
The Philly fans, ROH marks they were, chanted for CM Punk. End of discussion.
A cloud is made of water. If I throw water up in the air, I will make a cloud. End of discussion.
Punk got a bigger pop/reaction/fan response/human energy rise that night than Triple H and Shawn Michaels.
I saw it live on PPV and laughed about it. Thousands of others saw it live too, and thousands more were there in the building. I would not be surprised if the actual DVD dumbs down the ridiculously big reaction that CM Punk garnered that evening. But it did happen.
Arguing the contrary is absurd.
Also, Kennedy does in fact suck as a face so far. Give him time though.

But again. This is the Anti-Tude Era. Vince is trying to appeal to the Saturday Morning cartoons crowd.
Great statement indeed. :y:

As far as Kennedy goes, I don't like him as a face at all. I'd like to see him as a heel going after the IC belt or do a program with Jeff Hardy. I think they would deliver some quality matches for sure.
Right now, he looks like that meathead walking out of the gym who couldn't beat a 10 year old.
Right now, he looks like that meathead walking out of the gym who couldn't beat a 10 year old.
Wait, a meathead who can't beat up a 10 year old? That doesn't make any sense. If he's a meathead then he's strong, and no 10 year old could fight off a muscle head. Come on.

At first I thought face kennedy would be a bad idea but last night on SmackDown!, I saw that Kennedy is really coming into himself as a face.
Like, last night he would scream Kennedy after each big move and the crowd was loving it, he was rally getting a reaction.
I think Kennedy has what it takes to make it big as a face OR as a heel because he was really making connections with the fans last night.

I wouldn't say he's come into his own as a face yet, but he could soon. He's definitely a better heel by far. I'd like to see a Kennedy/Shelton feud down the line, if not now (or soon). Their match was quite awesome.
