i am a fucking beast online with hendo. i love all the kids who use silva a get pissed everytime i counter their head kicks with a takedown then pound the hell out of them on the ground
Yeah, I always use Bisping and a lot of my fights have been wins against guys fighting as Silva. Not lost to him once. Yet the one time I used him (against Bisping coincidentally) I got KTFO

funnies moment for me:
I KO Stephan Bonner with a head kick during a career. Bonner lands face up at the feet of Steve Mazzagati. Steve drops to a knee and waves off the fight. It looks for all the world like he's teabagging Bonner in the process. I so wish I had a pic of it.
Had an epic 10-fight war against some random dude last night. We both remained the same fighters throughout; I was Rampage and he was Silva. Ended at 6/4, my lead as I GNP'd his face into oblivion the last two fights since the dumb bastard wouldn't stop using the same combination - leg kick, leg kick, head kick. So I'd take the two leg kicks and shoot for the single leg while he went for the kick, take down to half-past guard position, GNP. Awesome night.
If only my roommates would get the fuck off the TV so I can play.

Yeah, fuck. How the hell am I supposed to rear naked choke people in round 3? That means that not only do I have to beat him down without KOing him all the way to the third, but I've gotta pass his guard (easy enough) and he has to try to roll over while I block him from getting guard again and then get the submission (highly unlikely).get into mount and when he transitions you can choke him out.

Knocked out Brock Lesnar in the second round to become the heavyweight champion. He took me down a couple times, but I somehow managed to get out of it both times, which was a shock to me (and I'm sure the audience as well). It was truly magical. Frank Mir is my first challenger, and I'm scared.

So I'm to the point I'm taking all comers (yes, Rashad too). 29 and 0, Dana just told me I'm going into the HoF. I've tapped Rampage, Machida and Evans, my last fight is in 8 weeks against Rampage.

Not entirely sure, but I have a ton of fight of the night trophies, a bunch of knockout of the night trophies, my striking trophy, I'm the champ, and undefeated. So I think it's a combination of accolades and win steaks.

FUCK YEAH
Rematch with koscheck and I knocked the fucker out. First round was very close, but I think I won it, as I stuffed 3 of his 4 takedown attempts, and quickly got out of the forth one, and was dropping bombs on him all round. Second, he started beating the shit out of me, and even had me rocked at one point, but I got out of it. The head kicks started to take their toll tho, and once I got back up to standing, I knocked him out.
Matt Hughes for the title was next, and I fully expected to lose. Almost did in the first round. He was at full mount and pounding the shit out of me, and rocked me. Just as I was about to get out of it, he caught me again, and rocked me. Then he went for the sub, and was about to tap me out, when the bell rang. Soooooooooo lucky there, as one second more, and I prolly would have tapped.
Second round was all me. Blocked all his takedowns, and was hitting him with punches and head kicks all over the place. Good thing huges' stand up sucks. Third round was the same, and I knocked him out.
I am now beginning the process of avoiding GSP for the rest of my career.

... that's what I just said. It's not easy to counter that though. Usually ends up rolling back into guard.
how do you get into the HoF?
Not sure. I got it being 30-4 with 9 KO of the night trophies, 5 Fight of the night trophies, all of the win streak trophies and the title.
I think you have to complete level 3 of both of your techniques. Striking and Grappling.
Nope. I didn't have level 3 on either of them.

Lads this game is pretty average. Once you get over how it looks, the fact it's a good attempt at a UFC game, it's not worth buying. It would work as a boxing game, but the ground game clearly isn't finished. They've got on a good idea, but it isn't ready. When you take someone down it is far too unresponsive and based too much on luck on hitting the R3 rotating. The clinch and the ground game should be a serious button bashing battle, but they're both a matter of pretty much luck, they're too static. Maybe it's impossible to do that properly in a game, but maybe you shouldn't make a UFC game then? You can just hammerfist or punch a guy repeatedly with no stoppage, because the ground game is so static. It's punch-punch-punch, attempt transition, maybe it comes off. Pretty poor. The clinch is pathetic, not even worth talking about. You should be able to clinch a guy against the side and spend an entire round trying to land 3-4 clean punches or knees.
Flash knock-outs are fucking awful (I say this in favour or against me, I always feel short-changed). They happen far too often, better would be if the timing of a punch had the "rocked" animation much more often, rather than straight knock-outs. Right, if a guy steps in to an uppercut and gets knocked out, fine, but when a jab randomly chins a guy to death it's just stupid.
Majorly disappointed in this game after the demo. It's a boxing game dressed up as UFC, regret buying it.

I completely agree ECG. I was about to post that I played the games for a few hours with a buddy of mine and I was really disappointed in it. I mean, it's a decent game, but nothing special. I think the ground game controls are intuitive but really lacking. Jujitsu overall is lacking tbh.

You guys are entitled to your opinion but i've finally gotten the hang of the ground game (two weeks and some change of work) and it's incredibly intuitive. One you learn the motions, and have the rotations of the analog stick committed to memory, as well as what transitions to what, what technical counters can transition to what, it's incredibly responsive and eep.

Get a 360. The majority of us have that system. Plus more games, plus backward compatibility with some XBox 1 games means Shenmue 2. Plus GTA4 has dextra downloadable content only available on the 360.

Flash KOs seem a little too random, I've seen guys survive seemingly endless combos of flush hits and other go down from a random jab. The ground game takes time. Once you learn it, It's actually pretty deep. The mothions are a little trcky at first, but it's not random luck. Good luck trying to submit someone like Machida or Rashad Evans. Someone like Lesnar will be all too quick to tap out though.

The only way I can see anyone having a gripe with the ground game or clinch is if they are not good at it and cant do anything when the fight goes there.
I agree about the flash KOs. I an a wizard on the ground in terms of transitions and ground and pound, but i cant for the life of me submot a guy and if i try to wear him down i end up knocking him out.

The only real gripe I have about the ground game right now is that I can't for the life of me escape the back mount. I try to do the minor/major transitions, but it's not doing anything. Any particular direction I'm supposed to be doing to get out or do I just do all the ones I can before I get screwed and get tapped out?
I've lost 4 matches and countless sparring sessions because I can't out

I guessed the first response would be "you aren't good at the ground game." It's the bit I've concentrated on the most, I appreciated the idea off using the right stick and the system in place, I just don't think it's finished. Maybe next year the game will be worth buying.
There are a few other stupid things in the game, like your career guy never changing his age. Would it not be sensible to start with quite high stamina/speed/cardio, maybe choosing one to be your main attribute, then concentrate mainly on building skills? Then as you get older, your physical attributes tail off and you have to rely on your skills i.e. change your game? There's very little depth to the career in this sense and all the sponsorship and Cred nonsense is just annoying, really.

Well that's one of my gripes too, as I say. Punch-punch-punch transition, punch-punch-punch transition, block or reverse transition. Ground and pound until round finishes or knock-out occurrs. The beatings you can deal out on the ground is ludicrous because there is very little actual grappling.
Submissions aren't great either. Clicking a button and then only getting it if your opponent is pathetic at submission defence and beat to shit doesn't really cover it. That should be a truly button-bashing moment, submissions can also happen any time in a match, not only knock-outs.

so i went and bought a 360 and this game WOO. got the game second hand cause all the brand new ones were sold out, so woo again cause i saved money. i won the heavyweight title today and i've defended it well so far. i've not really struggled particularly with anyone, although a few times i stepped up too early or took fights at short notice i shouldn't have.
my gripes mainly are the amount of menus and loading you have to go through to do something as pointless as putting sponsers on your shorts, and the training camp tasks lark. tried about a billion times to do a jab/uppercut combo and succeeded plenty yet it never seems to flash up. another annoying thing is how my dickhead sparring partner never tries to take it to the ground where i could learn something.
anyway, hot tip for you all, you can bang the same sponsors logo all over your shorts and you'll get cred for every one. so if you just plaster thq logos all over your shorts early on you'll get 350 cred every fight.
also it is annoying how bad muay thai sucks early on considering you have to do the dickhead training camp to improve and get new moves that can actually do some damage.

If you go through the career mode once and unlock all the 80 level cred logos you can then create a new fighter not in career mode and then put all the logos on the shorts, then you can import him into career mode and he keeps the shorts and you can have up to possibly 880 cred points from your shorts in your first match. you get the extra 80 if you use an 80 level sponsored shorts like warrior or sprawl shorts.

i read twirling the stick works better if you have high sub offense but if you don't but you have high strength then button mashing works better. dunno though tbh, i usually just mash cause i can do that way easier than twirling.

Finished off my middleweight career, ended up retiring undefeated and getting HoF status, missed out on the wrestling trophy by two points and sub trophy, otherwise I would have got the lot :(
Started up my heavweight career and have goine 17-0-0. Managed to get sub of the night in my second fight and KO in my next, but have so far not managed to get fight of the night, seems alot harder to get on heavyweight.

There is an option to fight UFC fighters only, no CAF's. You've been a bit unlucky with quitters though. I've fought just over 30 fights online (23-8) and I've only had like 3 people quit on me. I agree with The Mask about submissions too. Of my 23 wins, 17 have been by making fools tap

I've knocked out my sparring partnerbut it doesn't give you anything extra, it just counts as a knockdown. Submissions are worth 100 or something crazy, can never do it though.

Notice a lot af people just charge forward with haymaker punches too. Was stuffing all of that till some random Guido caf caught me with a lucky hit and flash KOd me in one shot. :'(
Also, some dudes have like 400-100 records. Insane.
Also, far easier to submit people online that the computer. Also, way harder to KO people online. Unless I get the clinch... then you're eating a 7 course uppercut meal.

I love this game.
But I consistently feel like my CAF is shit, despite the fact that when I looked on the guide, most stats (Str/Spd/Cardio) don't go over 75 on average for ANY competitor. Maybe an 80 in a skill here or there.
So apparently I'm not doing horrible, but I still feel like I have untapped potential here. Haven't made anyone submit yet, and still can't figure out how. And I suck ass at the camps. Can barely do any of them aside from the Kickboxing one.
So any tips are appreciated. But I do love this game.

Advice for you:
1. go to the options and turn on the stamina meter. Way easier to judge how the fight is going. Also easier to see how soon you can make people tap.
2. Practice against real players. The computer doesn;t really stack up. Start with player matches online or have buddies over.
3. When you are doing a training camp, go to the learn section first. So much easier o get shit going your way.

fuck it.... ill never play any of you online...
105-115 overall tutorial
so you have to decide what weight class you want to use. Ill use heavyweight for an example but its important you know the training max levels for each weight class.
HW ST 100 SP 80 CD 80
LHW 95 85 85
MW 90 90 90
WW 85 95 95
LW 80 100 100
So I did this with a HW. I wanted a guy that was going to be a kill machine and a submission machine so I chose boxing and BJJ, but if you like kick boxing that will work too. Im going to tell you haow to make a boxing bjj guy.
I assume youve played through the career mode at least once, so start off by making a guy in CAF not career mode. Make him how you want but dont worry about applying attributes (they wont carry over anyway) but on the shorts, select either sprawl, tapoy, or warrior shorts that have a logo on them already and then apply ten of your favorite 80 cred logos all over them and save your created fighter. Then go to career mode, select a new career and load the fighter you just made into career mode. His pants alone now will give you 880 cred every fight.
When you put in the attributes, max out strength the best you can and put the remainder in cardio. Leave speed at 1. Then max out standing strikes off and def, sub off and def, ground grap off and def and raise everything else to 20... any remainder put where you want.
After your first fight immediately start training your strength and only your strength. Dont let any stamina go to waste because you want this to be as fast as possible. train even before a fight, rest only when you dont have enough stamina to train. The first 5 or 6 fights you have will be so easy that it doesnt matter what you stamina is because you can pound out all your guys from the mount. After youve maxed out your strength, start bringing your cardio up to 75 and then your speed after that. If you go past 75, your strength starts dropping. Once your strength is to 100 you can keep it standing and throw technique punches because it will knock you opponent out fast in fights.
Now if you have trouble with the camps, you may want to rest your fighter a little bit before a camp comes up because it is very important that you get through the camps as fast as possible. at most three camps per level so you must score 5 tasks per visit which is very doable. Never accept or go to a cred opportunity like a photo shoot because it interrups your training.
Always pick the highest ranked guy when given a choice because you need to build up the cred to get the highest level training partner, but never take short notice fightsbecause again they interrupt your training. Usually you will have the belt and have defended it once or twice by the time you have either gotten the 100, 75, 75 training, or gotten the level 5 training partner. Once your properly trained you may start sparring.
The goal in sparring is to get a 144 every session. I usually do this by KOing/rocking/knock downs on my opponent over three times in a session. Throwing just technique punches works well. now you need to start watching your stamina because it affects the points you get in sparring. right after a fight, if your stamina is above 65, then you can spar right away, if its below then you need to rest that week. From then on you need to make a pattern of rest and spar, rest and spar. The first sparring sessions will only usually get you 72-100 points if your fully rested so dont worry. Also if you just sparred 2 weeks out of the fight, and now your 66% stamina 1 week out, spar again, you wont need stamina for fights anymore.
At this point in time you are going to be throwing fights, because the worse your actual opponent is, the more of a jobber your sparring partner is. The second the bell sounds for your fight, press start and select give up, and the fight is over. When you select a new opponent, select the lowest rank possible. If a short notice fight comes up, take it and throw it. You want to drop your ranking as soon as possible. once your ranking is worse than 20, stop taking short notice fights and use the long 10-13 week training camps to pummel your sparring partner. It will be very easy to accumulate 144 for every session except the ones where you start off with stamina under 90% which is the sessions right after or before a fight depending on how you pattern it.
Now once you start sparring only put points into your standing strikes off until you max it out. (you are now a kill machine) You will now easily KO your partner 3-4 times per session. Since you finished all the camps, your striking total is now 115 and if you did bjj your sub skills are 115 if you max them out. If you do both, you can have a character be a kill and sub machine and you will never get anyone to fight you online apparently LOL.
once youve gotten the hang of how to do it, start filling in everything the way you want. your guy will be well over 100 overall once your done.

like funky said..just kick the body and legs. i just did 7 of them with no problem. by the time for the 2nd or 3rd round any body shots would "rock" them. just let them recover and get in position for the sub. do not even throw a punch or kick to the head

i mount them and just whale away with the body shots, no head ones. it'll rock them now and then so you just have to sit it out then eventually you can get the fight back to ground and kick em in the ribs and they'll go down every time.
also reavant, what exactly do you do to get the knockdowns in sparring? like i've seen videos and i know if you go for hard punch/head kicks you knock them out and they regain all their stamina so you don't wanna do that, but i still have a bitch of a time catching them out.

I played 3 games online today.
Keep in mind i suck horribly. I cant take anyone down. I'm pretty bad at striking defense. The only think i'm good at is submissions. I'm kinda good at transitions both on top and bottom.
First match i played as Cro Crop and got destroyed by Frank Mir.
2nd match i played as Kenny Florian and it was against a level 12 player. He kept taking me down and i key going for the kimora. The 3rd time he took me down, i got it and made him tap. It was fucking hilarious. I went from level 1 to level 3.
Then my 3rd match was against Roger Huerta. I had Florian. He fucked me up good in stand up. He stunned me, but i recovered and as he pounced on me, to pull guard. He was hitting me good and i reversed positions and got on top, but i must of pressed something wrong cause after i got on top, instead of pounding him or working a submission, I just got up. As soon as he got up he threw a head kick and knocked me out. lol

The worst thing for me is the godforsaken flash KO's.
Seriously. Tooling on someone for the entire fight, they get in like two punches, the second of which INSTANTLY knocks me out, despite the fact that I'm not even bleeding, and they're dripping it everywhere.
I know it has to be something I'm doing wrong. Would gassing cause that? Admittedly I do go on flurries of punch/kick combos, so...yeah.

Suck I cant change styles. I am a Light Heavyweight, and because I am a boxer it seems like my striking is limited, but I am a striker expert I guess. Like I have won all my fights by knockout, and I cant ground and pound for shit, and cant figure out how to submit anyone, I need to practice more with real characters. basically I am Chuck Liddell, who I just knocked the fuck out.
I would be good to go but I cant do anything against Machida or Evans on the ground, they rape me, and if I stay in the standing match, I usually get flash KOed on a kick to t he head,...
I dont have the book because its a Gamefly rental, so I am confused...Can I do dead kicks, or is that only for non boxers? Would be nice to add that to my attack list. And the tutorial sucks for teaching you ground game.

oh yeah i know but the focus is on the clinch which is shit cause it's too slow and computer players break out of it easily. with kickboxing you can fight at different distances, cause the superpunch lets you stand outside striking range and thus it makes it harder for boxers and thai boxers to fight against you.
plus muay thai elbows are no different to any other elbow which is bullshit too.
Funky Fly

the thing tho is that if you mix up your clinch, it's damn near impossible to break. I hear you on the elbows tho. What do Muay Thai guys have on the ground, tho? kickboxers have hammerfists and boxers have wild strikes.

do you have any good technique for getting points in sparring? like usually i just get the one arm clinch and uppercut and they fall down/get rocked repeatedly and i feel like the man and get 100-144 points every time. but with muay thai you can't do that :'(

I started a new career tonight. Picked boxing and BJJ. Absolutly loving taking down the opponent, getting into the full mount and hammerfisting his face into the canvas.
Every fight lasted just over a minute until I was offered a last minute fight with a week to prepare. I had no stamina so I used the week to rest. Got me up to fifty something percent. I managed to knock him out in the 3rd, thankfully.
I currently stand at 9-0-0. Much happier with this run than the last career.
I also was unaware last time that I had to 'action' training camps. And was unsure what they did. So this has been somewhat of an advantage

1 of 3 things happened:
1. He caught you with a random flash KO. It's gay, but it happens from time to time. His guy is probably guy with high strength and good hands (Bock Lesnar) or kicks (Lyoto Machida/Cro Cop).
2. You were going for a strike or takedown and he was quicker on the draw and counter KO'd your ass. Counters hurt a lot more than regular strikes.
3. He'd been peppering you with damage to the face (and probably in the same spot) throughout the first 2 rounds and it all added up to your KO. Targeted damage can bring about KOs at random.

I have to say, I love these KO's most of the time. They can look so cool.
I played against a friend who had never played before the other day. I went real easy on him, and got him to last the 3 rounds (just so he didn't instantly dislike the game), and in the last minute of the last round I went for a take down, and he caught me square in the jaw with a knee. I just fucking crumbled to the ground.

How do you know what their rating is? And how is it that high to start?
Funky Fly
07-27-2009, 04:12 PM
Considering you can't have any stat higher than 30 to start with a career CAW, the rating is probably really low.
You can see CAW ratings when you are choosing your guy in exhibition or online. Their overall rating is displayed under the name. You can also see it in career mode by looking at the status menu.

Can you give a created fighter whatever stats you want in exhibition mode?
How many created fighters can you make?
Do you know a website that has good created fighters?
Can you have 5 round fights in exhibition?
1. To an extent, yes (you have enough to make roughly a 86-88 overall fighter)
2. I read 40
3. Sherdog has it's fair share of CAF's knocking around, some pretty shibby one's too
4. Yes

in fact if you lose more than twice MAYBE 3 times its pretty much impossible
plus you have to make all the cred sessions

not that i'm losing any sleep over it or anything.

absolutely. the rubber guard alone makes it worth it, but there are a tonne of signature transitions from disadvantageous ground positions that make fighting on your back so much easier. plus it lets you seperate your standup and grappling game a bit more.

Fuck, just about ready to give up playing online till the patch is out.
My guy is a heavyweight rated 100 overall and I am regularly shutting down these 119 rated guys because they have bad speed and cardio despite better than perfect stats. All I get are disconnects. Submissions and TKOs have a long animation where the ref steps in to stop it, so they disconnect during that and the ranked match is thrown out. Ranked matches record your win/loss record and it affects all the online achievements, so people pussy out all the time. Don't fight anyone with a perfect record before this patch is out.
The weird thing is, the 3 descriptive phrases you get still update even after a disconnect, so even though all my submission victories (80 submission destroying a 115 sub defence, what what  ) don't count, my phrase changed from "good ground game" to "excellent submission"

Hey guys Neven here with an update on the Patch release.
The Patch for UFC 2009 Undisputed has been released on the Xbox 360 World Wide and the PS3 for Europe. The Patch is currently in submission with Sony America and we expect to release it very soon. As the Xbox and Sony Europe updates were available sooner than expected we made the decision to get the Patch out to the public rather than sit on them. Stay on the lookout for updates regarding the Patch release for Sony America.
Just a reminder of what is included in the update:
Online matches will better support issues with users who leave a match. The game will now detect users who disconnect and will assign a “Loss,” as well as a “Did Not Finish (DNF),” to that player. The DNF is only assigned to the player who executes the disconnection. The DNF rate will be displayed on the fighter selection screen of the “Online Ranked Match.” When disconnected, the “Winning Streak” is also reset to zero.
Ranked Matches have been adjusted to match players with better connections.
The difficulty of performing submissions against computer opponents has been adjusted to improve the balance of submissions vs. striking.
The Flash Knockouts rate has been adjusted so they are less frequent.
The maximum number of points awarded in online play has been increased from 99,999 to 999,999. The “Max Level” has also been increased from 100 to 200.
The “Winning Streak” bonus maximum has been moved from 5 to 3.
Decimal places on the “Leader Board Winning Percentage” have been changed so that only whole percentages are shown.
Create-a-Fighter (CAF) issues have been addressed so that the skill levels in CAF cannot be cheated and increased. Also, any CAF with unfair point values will no longer be able to be used online.
For PLAYSTATION 3 system users, game freezes during auto-saves have been eliminated. The controller used to “Press Start” on the title screen will be identified as the main controller.
I want to thank the community for all the great feedback and look forward to playing with you guys online!
Sincerely,
Neven Dravinski, UFC Producer

If you turn on the stamina bar you should have an easier time, only go for submissions when they're low on stamina.
Basically save them for someone going crazy with strikes. Also if you're good on the ground go for transition reversals and blocks to try and take their stamina down.

Online is the best place to be to sub guys. Like 70% of my online wins are by tap out. As for against the CPU, I find it's a case of taking your chances. I've choked out Rashad on Expert inside 2 minutes but have taken 4 rounds to submit Tim Sylvia. If a chance is there with low stamina, go for it.

I don't play online either. I have no problem sharing.
When you click the stick for a sub, as soon as the animation starts quickly wrap your right thumb in the end of your tshirt or anything else of simaler matieral. Then just rapidly rub your thumb across all 4 face buttons. It'll ache the shit out of your arm, but don't stop until he taps.
I used the same method back in the day for Track and Field and other simaler Olympic games. I used to absolutly destroy the world records with this method.
Simple. Yet effective.
I change the way I hold the pad as soon as the animation starts and use both index and both middle fingers. But yeah, they key is hitting the buttons AFAP (new 'word' right there)
