They explained the show's gimmick in the first episode. Ranger Keys are used to emulate the powers of every past team. Their own power sources are not mentioned.

But even years before now we seen the original coins being used post-"destroyed".

Perhaps some coins were better off than others. Jason had no issues in Forever Red. And Adam seemed to have solved the dangers of his coin by Always A Ranger.

The real presser is Tommy's upcoming appearance in the Super Megaforce special. Of all the (still active) powers in his belt, he uses the one where it's destruction was a major plot point for two seasons. It's unlikely the current writers even care for deep canon like that, but a mention wouldn't hurt. Perhaps he found it from his clone/ancestor he left back in time.

Interesting news. Was going to post something earlier but watched that Goldar video and had to run to catch a bus to work.

Another reactive reboot. Ninja Turtles are doing one so the Rangers have to follow suit as to not lose chances to make new toys. Probably won't be seeing in the theater anyways. I was kinda embarrassed seeing the first one in theaters when I was 13.

Just as an aside, I have gotten my kids into Power Rangers. They have started watching from episode 1 of MMPR on netflix, and we are going through them all. Onto season 3 of MMPR.

They love it. They are also asking me to locate toys/zords, etc. It's great to see it all again, and I can share my slightly obsessive knowledge about the first five seasons.

Power Rangers SPD although in SPD, the B Squad were the main rangers and the A Squad kinda fucked off because they were actually in league with Gruumm, one of the best Power Ranger villains ever. Well, until the back to back combo of Lothar and Mezzagog.

I'm not unhappy with this as ToqGer is just so god damn Japanese that trying to Power Rangerize it is gonna be a mess. I mean we're skipping Go-Busters which I think would've been pretty awesome to Power Rangerize but what do I know? Yeah rumors are they've got a color change gimmick like this year's sentai as well as standard ninja stuff. Should be cool.

I don't know... I think the trains thing would be really big with the kids. And we'll probably see their gear/zords being used to sell more toys. Go-Busters is totally weird though, I agree. Then again... RPM worked from a VERY Japanese-y source and it ended up being one of the more badass seasons.

Go-Busters is easy sauce. It's special operations for gods sake. You could've done it spy style with Gold and Stag being a pair of fan boys who found out about the identities who built their own stuff. But Go-Busters didn't do to hot in Japan so Saban said fuck it let's go with dinosaurs again.

It's got some good stories, some bad stories but the best part was the brand new way of doing the Zord fights they created for this show. Really made every single zord fight just epic. Also they didn't just go Megazord every single episode either. They had CB-01 Ace to do most of the heavy lifting with zord fights but even the other zords got some major screen time in Megazord battles.

Just a poor decision on Saban's part. Oh well. At least after Dino-Change they've got another ninja themed Sentai to Power Rangerize.
