Totally shocked to log on tonight and find that Artest and Ariza are switching places. I wonder what this holds for the future of Lamar Odom.
The Celtics are going hard after Rasheed Wallace, sending the whole organization to recruit him. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him take their mid-level.

LOL WHAT Artest is a Laker.... I dunno how to feel about this. Dude is straight up nuts, but so good. Wanna see how he and Kobe mesh.
Pretty bummed about Ariza. FUCK YOU MITCH KUPCHAK
SammyG
07-02-2009, 11:47 PM
Fuck Mitch? Fuck David Lee, Trevor's agent!!!! ariza signed for the same money that LA would have given him.... His agent is the reason he is not in LA right now. Ariza constantly said he wanted to be in LA. His agent said that the Lakers offering the MLE was disrespectful and shit, and that Trevor wants to go somewhere where he is "more appreciated".
Uh. What. Trevor, you signed in Houston for the SAME FUCKING MONEY LA woulda given you. Young and stupid decision. He will be missed, but he is stupid for leaving. Houston is fucked without Yao.
Fisher, Kobe, Artest, Gasol, Bynum
then you got Odom coming off the bench..... BACK TO BACK
SammyG

Good point about Lee.
As much I hate to see Ariza leave, I'm definitely excited about Artest.

You have Artest, why do you need Ariza?
I don't, I just would have rather kept Ariza. It's not a BIG deal, I'm just gonna miss Ariza in a Lakers uniform.
SammyG

Yeah, me too. I love Ariza. It's gonna be weird.... Artest is asking Laker fans to pick his number on Twitter, haha. He might do 69.

Ariza is a way better fit for the Lakers than Artest. Got a feeling this move is gonna come back to hurt them. I honestly think Artest is legitimately retarded so I don't know if the all mighty Zen master Phil Jackson can even work with him

Well unless Houston mans up to make up for no Yao, I don't think Ariza in Houston will affect the Lakers much. I hate to say that, because I loved Ariza, but Houston needs more than Ariza.

One of the biggest problems Houston had in the playoffs was that the ball was in Artest's hands WAY too much. I don't think he'll have that problem in LA.

I cant wait for the first time he chucks up a 3 in a crucial 4th quarter with 23 seconds on the clock.

Needless to say, I'll be disappointed if there aren't reports of Artest threatening Kobe's life sometime during his time in LA. The thought of Artest and Kobe getting into a fight makes me giddy, and I'm not necessarily a Laker hater.
Interesting that Hedo backed out on the Blazers deal, but it's probably a good thing for Portland in the long run. Hedo going to Toronto makes it seem like Marion's a goner, though, which is weird since it seemed like he was getting ready to sign an extension there.
Kobe and Ron are actually good friends. Don't let the heat of the NBA Playoffs fool you.
You dont know Ron Artest then.
I dunno, I live in the Sacramento area and I've listened to him a lot on a local sports radio show. He's not as crazy as everyone makes him out to be. He even interviewed Kobe once.

Hedo Turkoglu to the Raptors
Hanso Amore
07-04-2009, 01:25 PM
Turk to the Raptors makes mazing sense and is a great fit.
If Iverson takes the 6th man spot in Memphis, they will have had one of the best offseasons. The ystill have work to do, but they did good.
The Drafted the best defender in the draft.
They turned darko in Zack Randolph
Add a Former MVP as an of the bench scorer they REALLY need...that would be awesome.
I would love to see some of the bottom feeders turn it around.

moving mayo to small forward postion would be a big mistake hes only 6'4 or so hes not a bad defender but that would be a horrible matchup for mayo
more like iverson on the point and conley moving to the bench

Why would I want Utah to trade our only power forward since we don't have the cash to sign Millsap? Also, Brewer is a better defender than Hamilton and picking up Hamilton would move Brewer to the bench. The move makes no sense for Utah.
Hanso Amore
07-08-2009, 11:16 AM
I agree with Gertner. Hamilton doesnt make that team better. If they can sign Millsap, I say goahead and trade boozer for the right deal, but not for Rip.
Now Boozer/AK47 for Rip, Teyshawn and some picks/another player could work IMHO

I want nothing to do with Prince. Most over-rated player in the league. I would only do that trade if Millsap could be signed, but Boozer and Rip's contracts are roughly the same so it still wouldn't leave them room to sign Millsap.

lots of talk right now about the salary cap being a lot lower in 2010, which may change a lot of things for the signings next year. For example, the Knicks were expecting to sign two free agents in 2010, but now might be only limited to just one.

This makes me think think they will really not see that much movement.
No team will be able to sign 2 of the Big names (Amare, Bosh, Johnson, Wade and Lebron) which was sort of the whole reason they were going to find new teams....to play together!

What? How does Boozer suck? He is an All Star PF.....
Only problem I have with Boozer is that he disappears in the most important games.
According to some reports, Tyler Hansbrough is tearing it up in Summer league ball, but thats Summer league ball.
I'm really looking forward to Roy Hibberts maturation. I think he can be a top 5 center in the league if he can stay out of foul trouble, put on a little bit more muscle ( not alot ) and just plain put in the hard work.
I also think Brandon Rush is going to be that 2nd superstar that Danny Granger and the Pacers needs. People dont know about Rush right now, but he has a tenacity alot like Artest. He's strong. He's a way better shooter. He can play great defense and he's 100% less crazier then Ron. Brandon Rush is a gem and people will find this out this coming season. He's got the starting job. Dunleavy is gone for the first half of the season and O'Brien has already said B Rush will remain the starter when he comes back. I expect Rush to put up about 17 points, 5 rebounds 3 assists and 2 steals a game this next season. And he will be a fantastic defender.
Rush and Granger combination with a much improved Roy Hibbert and a healthy TJ Ford with Jack backing him up, could mean a playoff appearence. Maybe better. I think people are sleeping on Indiana.

I wouldn't be surprised with Morrison contributing a lil bit next for the Lakers. Not saying he is gonna do a ton but he might be able to give them something off the bench. He did alright his rookie year then got hurt and kinda fell out of Larry Brown's favor. Then he got traded and never really had a chance to catch on during last season w/ the Lakers. At the very least I don't think he'll be a healthy scratch every night like he was last season.

Yeah I totally agree. I'm not looking for Ammo to necessarily get big minutes next season, but at least he might be able to contribute.
Sammy, Summer League is not that bad. You get to see guys who don't get a lot of PT go out there and compete. You also get to see a guy like Ammo go out there and regain confidence after a year plus of doing basically nothing.

Pacers sign G Dahntay Jones

Dahntay Jones(notes) talks abo…
AP - Jul 14, 3:44 pm EDT NBA Gallery INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—Dahntay Jones(notes) smiled and shook his head when asked about the flagrant fouls he picked up for Denver during the playoffs this past season, including one for tripping Kobe Bryant(notes) during the Western Conference finals.
The defensive stopper won’t hesitate to commit a few more with the Indiana Pacers if necessary.
“It comes as a part of the territory in this game of basketball and with taking the betterment of my team personally and trying to win basketball games and doing my job,” Dahntay said Tuesday.
That job will be with the Pacers for the next four years at $11 million, according to his agent, Aaron Mintz.
Jones’ solid work against Bryant and New Orleans guard Chris Paul(notes) were among the reasons Pacers president Larry Bird made signing him his first free agent priority. Jones will join a team that has been among the league leaders in points scored and points allowed in two seasons under coach Jim O’Brien.
“We’ve been talking about defense for a while here,” Bird said. “When you watch all these guys play at a high level, you see what they’re really made out of. He showed us a lot. It was somebody who we targeted right after the playoffs, and we went after him, and fortunately, we got him.”
Jones drew complaints during the playoffs from Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson and New Orleans coach Byron Scott. Jackson accused Jones of playing “unsportsmanlike basketball” after tripping Bryant. There was no call, but the league hit Jones with the flagrant the next day. Jones has always maintained that he plays hard, not dirty.
Denver coach George Karl has compared what Jones brought the Nuggets to what Bruce Bowen(notes) did as a defensive specialist for San Antonio. That’s fine with Jones.
“I embrace my role, and whatever I have to do to help my team win,” he said. “That was a role I had to play for my team. I had fun with it, and we competed on a nightly basis and we tried to win as many games as possible.”
Jones started 71 games last season. He averaged 5.4 points and 2.1 rebounds in the regular season, but increased those numbers to seven points and 2.4 rebounds in the postseason.
Jones, heading into his seventh season out of Duke, expects those figures to increase with the Pacers.
“I’ll probably be asked to score a little more,” he said. “My job is to make sure I play defense on a daily basis, and the points will come.”
Jones believes he’ll fit into the Pacers’ up-tempo style. He said Indiana earned his respect when the Pacers beat the visiting Nuggets 100-94 on March 1.
“They played extremely hard and they never gave up,” he said. “They weren’t intimidated by us at all. That’s an attitude that I do have a lot of admiration for. I look forward to playing with these guys.”
I really like this guy. Now we need to match that BS offer the Raptors made to Jack ( overpaying him by about 7 million ). Then i think Indiana just might have something here.

Give me a break. He is a great 2nd option. And the guy can rebound, which is a goddamn rarity these days.
He is not a Max contract guy, but he is an ALl star and one of the 5 best PFs in the NBA. So dont tell me he is a 3rd option. 3rd Options drop 10 points a game, not 20.
And he "dissapears" in the playoffs because he is left alone in the middle with a Center who never comes inside the 3 point arc, and is dominated by numbers in the Postseason half court game.

LA Times:
Is the table being set again?
A week after the Lakers pulled a pair of contract offers to Lamar Odom off the table, the sides resumed talks Wednesday.
The discussions were labeled productive, but there was nothing to report "at the moment," according to a source familiar with negotiations who was not authorized to comment publicly.
It didn't look great last week for Odom's return to the Lakers after the franchise yanked its offers of three years and $30 million or four years and $36 million, with the fourth year only partially guaranteed.
But the sides began communicating in a more positive light Wednesday. Financial details were not immediately available, though the Lakers were not expected to have improved their initial offers. If anything, the offers might have dropped slightly.

http://lakersguy.blogspot.com/2009/07/lakers-odom-close-to-compromise.html
Lakers, Odom Close to a Compromise
Sources from inside the Lakers' organization have informed me this afternoon that there was a telephone conversation between Lamar Odom's agent, Jeff Schwartz, and Laker's owner, Jerry Buss, this morning and that the two parties are close to a compromise.
Buss, who had originally offered a 3 year, $30 million guaranteed contract, has apparently amended his current offer to 3 years, $21 million, with a team option for a 4th year. Odom's agent is seeking for that 4th year to be guaranteed for a total deal of 4 years, $28 million. Odom would rather stay in Los Angeles, according to sources, but the separation between the Lakers' 3-year offer and the Miami Heat's proposed 5-year MLE offer may be enough to prompt Odom to leave.
Buss is reportedly willing to add that 4th guaranteed year that will allow Lamar to accept the Lakers' offer, and this decision will most likely come in the next few days. Stay tuned.

Odom to Miami? Don’t bet on it
The talk (at this moment) is Lamar Odom is “leading strongly toward accepting” a 5-year, $34 million deal from Miami. From conversations I’ve had, I’m convinced that those reports are nothing more than agent posturing.
Even the fact Pat Riley flew to Los Angeles this weekend still doesn’t change the fact Odom wants to remain with the Lakers. (The Heat president owns a house in L.A.)
Ramona Shelburne of the L.A. Daily News said that “theories and facts change from day to day.” But the belief among those who know say Odom will remain in Los Angeles and will make it official soon.

Based on how the Magic are coached and their play style, I doubt them deciding between Okafor or Howard would have really mattered. ESPN:
Lamar Odom will return to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to an NBA source.
Odom will sign a four-year contract, with the fourth year at the Lakers' option.
One source with knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com the four-year deal is worth $33 million if the Lakers exercise the final year of the contract.
Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak declined comment. Odom's agent, Jeff Schwartz, did not return a message immediately.
Odom's options, as of Monday, were choosing between an offer from the Lakers or taking one of the multiple proposals from the Miami Heat.
Miami had offered Odom as much as it can for a team well over the salary cap: $34 million over five years with an opt-out to return to free agency after the fourth season, according to sources.
Odom, who turns 30 in November, has made it clear over the past several months that he has no desire to leave the Lakers.

He is the one Celtic I don't wanna murder. I like the way he plays, to be honest, really hard worker, and he seems like a decent enough guy. I wouldn't mind him being our 3rd string PF

Taylor vs. Blake Christmas Game
I didnt see any nationally televised games for Indiana. Comon, they're not that bad at all. The league fails at giving teams atleast some exposure. Danny Granger will be MVP next year and Tyler Hansborough will be the greatest Power Foward since anyone to be honest. This team will win the title. Comon ESPN. Your loss.
