Cruiserweight Title

I think it should come back so guys like Yoshi Tatsu and Evan Bourne have something to do without the inevitable David and Goliath crap. However, I don't think it should be and SD! exclusive, as it used to be. I think it should make a return and be treated like the Tag Titles; champ is on one roster, but goes where his opponents are for feuding purposes. Same could (and should) be done for the womens' title. And piss on that Divas garbage.

What say you, the common man?

I like the idea. There are a lot of smaller guys who just don't fit into the midcard title or main event scenes, so this would definitely give them something meaningful to do.

Not that guys should need a title to chase to be doing something meaningful, but that's what WWE has come to unfortunately.

I also would piss on the Divas title and have the Women's title across the brands.

don't think it would work... as guys like CM Punk, Chris Jericho, John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, etc. are all in the "heavyweight" division, yet none weigh more than 230 pounds.... If I remember correctly, the CW limit was 220, so most of these guys would only have to drop less than 10 pounds to become cruiserweights..... doesn't make sense

Pissing the on the Divas "title" and replacing it with the CW title isn't adding more, it's redacting a joke and reinstating a real goal.

I don't see it as too many. One womens' title and a lightheavyweight title as interbrand goals should be sufficient, though. That way, more guys are wrestling for a reason, even if that reason is just to gain contendership for the title of their choice. And like people watch chick fights, anyway.

I do think, though, that most of the titles are afterthoughts.

Seeing as they've tried this before - bringing it back multiple times, pushing it hard then within 12 months dumping on it - then I don't agree.

If Evan Bourne or Tatsu get over enough then there's always the US or IC titles, or even the tag titles with a partner (Kendrick and London were a great example).

Nah. They had their chances to book the CW title properly in the past, and rarely, if EVER, even, were they.

And I entirely agree with Afterlife about the Women's Championship thing...get rid of the Divas Championship and just call the Women's title the Undisputed Women's title, and allow it to be fought for/defended at anytime anywhere, by and between any divas, a la the Undisputed Tag titles...that way instead of two separate, branded women's division titles, you have ONE that can be defended not just on RAW or SmackDown! or at a pay-per-view, but also, ECW, which since it has been added to WWE's portfolio, has not had any such title for any of the women to win or defend, and yes, there's VERY few divas on ECW itself, but hey, it would still give them something to strive for instead of just being eye candy on ECW all the time.

Sure a few have gotten hurt and unfortunately had to have their title reigns cut short, but I'd be willing to wager the number or percentage or what have you, of divas who've had to cut their title reigns short is about on par with the guys.

I was against the idea of scrapping the Cruiserweight Title, but I am not a fan of bringing it back. Looking at things realistically, the WWE will just book the division poorly. A guy like Evan Bourne looks infinitely better challenging for the ECW Title than being Cruiserweight Champion.

Plus, so many of the main eventers in the WWE are cruiserweights, anyway. Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, Christian and Jeff Hardy are all former Cruiserweight or Light Heavyweight Champions. John Morrison and Chavo Guerrero are former ECW Champions, and they are cruiserweights. JBL was the last guy to mention the weight limit for the Cruiserweight Title, and he suggested it was 225lbs. That puts CM Punk and Shawn Michaels under the banner, as well.

So tell me: Why should a guy challenge for the Cruiserweight Title? I mean, seriously. Why do some guys go for the Cruiserweight Title, while other men who are technically cruiserweights, don't challenge for it. It'd be like a female worker deciding she doesn't want to be the WWE Women's Champion anymore, and chasing anything else. The Women's Title should be it for female wrestlers, and the Cruiserweight Title should be it for cruiserweights.

That means you'd have to change booking considerably, and convince someone like Shawn Michaels that being the Cruiserweight Champion is a good idea for him.

I did think about bringing back the Cruiserweight Title for a little bit when Vickie Guerrero was still RAW General Manager -- as a sort of gift to keep Chavo happy. The title wouldn't be used as a legitimate institution, but entirely as a prop to give Chavo something to do.

I still wouldn't mind it if they did it, perhaps with Chavo just coming out with the belt after he defeats Hornswoggle one night, and saying that he is the "honourary Cruiserweight Champion." He can then work with guys like Primo and Evan Bourne. But then they've got to drop the title, and let the smaller men climb the ranks.
