That would be gold.

After NXT is done, Barret should become Jericho's henchman, but plays a REALLY dumb guy, so when Jericho uses sophisticate language and acts smart, Wade can look confused and Jericho can just laugh and make fun of him but keep him around as his personal powerhouse.

On a site where Noid has dreamed up ideas of Val Venis, Funaki and the ghost of Paul Bearer becoming WWE Champion, this is by far the worst I've seen.

I assume it's because Barrett has a pronounced Northern English accent that we should slip him into a 'stupid' gimmick?

Hang on, I just thought, didn't the WWE want to make CM Punk a deaf wrestler at one point? That might be the worst idea I've heard.

let me rephrase that. I like the idea of a Jericho/Barret team. I think since Barret is physically bigger than Jericho he can play the enforcer role kind of like Gallows does with Punk. I just don't like the idea of "dumbing" Barret down

If this was a joke, which would have been fine with me, it comes off as far too serious a suggestion to work. If it's not, then I really do not like the idea of Wade Barrett being dumbed down, when he does the "wiser than he seems" role so well.

Not like Billy & Chuck, that was mad lame.

But i mean a SERIOUS angle where two guys just slowly develop into a relationship with each other and it becomes a full romance, but nothing outrageous like Billy and Chuck was.

My idea is to do this on Smackdown with Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. You can have Drew and Dolph hanging out backstage first, as friends, but it slowly develops. Dolph starts coming out to Drew's matches and Drew to Dolphs. Nothing is mentioned about their relationship. Drew starts coming out for Dolph's matches and they usually enter matches together.

Basically, same thing like a Diva/Wrestler relationship, only in this case its two guys together. They can be shown meeting up backstage to go to dinner or something and then slowly one of the heels can start to make fun of them for being together and at first they ignore him but then they get mad and challenge him to a match and they can pound his ass to show that just because they are two guys in a relationship doesnt mean that they weak.

There was an uproar from the network and actual death threats to Hassan. You knew what I meant.

Of course I did.

Of course, the reason they killed the angle was the 7-7 subway bombings coinciding with an episode in which Hassan and a bunch of guys in commando attire attacked the Undertaker and Daivari was "martyred," and not so much objection to the gimmick itself.

Which is why I ridiculed what you said with the homosexuality crack, actually. It misses the point, yes, but only by the same margin with which you missed it.

But seriously, do you remember the last time an angle involving homosexuality, directly or indirectly, was canceled due to the outrage of gays? Even the joke that was Billy and Chuck still got...What's that word? Praise.

Huh.

It's almost like the notion of fan outrage is utterly ridiculous.

I'm sure you'll find a way to say "that's different," just as I'm sure you'll find a way to still attempt to contrast it with Hassan despite needing to leave out the catylist that caused them to pull the angle.

Unless you're worried that three weeks into the gay angle, a Pride terrorist is going to go blow up a local swap meet. Because yes, if gay terrorists wreck some shit during this angle, it could get ugly.

What I was thinking was if there were gay wrestlers on screen who constantly used their homosexuality as an excuse for being held down, it might cause an uproar. The only reason I even compared it to Muhammad Hassan was because he used his 'differences' in a similar fashion. There's been no gay uproar to that extent, but maybe that's because it's never been done.

Billy and Chuck weren't OPENLY gay. It was just strongly hinted at. They were praised when it was announced that they were going to do a same sex marriage on TV. When it was revealed that they weren't ACTUALLY gay, some people actually did get upset about it.

That's fine and all, but that just seems a bit...boring. If they're not exploiting it, then what's the point, really?

Also, think about the wrestling fans of today. A lot of them are children and probably aren't even really sure what it is to be gay. If they do, they're probably grossed out by it. Also, I dobut a lot of parents would be cool with a character like that being portrayed for their children. Maybe this would have been OK in the Attitude Era, but it doesn't seem like a move they would make today.

But again, Hassan didn't get death threats, the network didn't oppose it, until after Hassan garrotted a babyface with his buddy carried off like a martyr on the same day as a terrorist attack in the UK. I already explained this, so I'm not sure why you think elaborating to explain something I clearly already got will change anything.

In fact, I predicted such a response:

I'm sure you'll find a way to say "that's different," just as I'm sure you'll find a way to still attempt to contrast it with Hassan despite needing to leave out the catylist that caused them to pull the angle.

It's all well and good to compare it to the Hassan deal, but Hassan's differences weren't the issue. Not the one that got the angle pulled. Not the one that got the death threats.

It's unlikely similar circumstances will occur. Unless there is a terrorist attack by homosexuals on the same day they do something severe on the show, there is no real comparison here.

I'm sorry that you don't seem to get that, even after it was already explained to you.

Okay so these two arent doing much in the WWE now, so here is what I have come up with for them.
On an episode of Raw, Vince comes out and says that if Kozlov loses another match, he will be fired from the WWE and that will mean he will be deported from the US back to Russia. Kozlov gets angry, but in his match, he loses because Regal costs him the match!

Kozlov is really sad after it as fans chant "na na goodbye". Then we see Kozlov and Regal backstage. Kozlov stares at Regal, wipes a tear off his eye and says,
"WHY?!"

Regal smiles and says,

"Well Vladimir, youre fired from the WWE, but if you find another job, you can stay in the USA. I have an offer for you. I need a "personal" assistant, around the house and a "bodyguard" in the ring. I will pay you well and you will stay in my mansion!"

Kozlov looks angry but says, "OK".

For the next few weeks we get scenes of Kozlov doing chores in Regal's house. Finally, about a month later, Regal tells Kozlov that he wants him to do something else.

"I want you to dress up nicely"

And Regal brings out a maid's outfit and forces Kozlov to wear it!

Kozlov also wears the maids outfit during his matches. Sometimes after Kozlov wins a match or helps Regal win his match, they show Regal go backstage and give Kozlov a kiss on the cheek. Kozlov looks angry and confused. Regal calls him his "boi toy"

Everyone talks about how Kozlov is getting angry and angrier by the second, so this all leads up to an in-ring segment where Regal announces that it's time for Vlad to "Dress up nicely...again!". This time Regal forces Kozlov to take off the maid's uniform and Kozlov looks happy until Regal reveals his new outfit...A VICTORIAN ERA DRESS!

The fans expect Kozlov to destroy Regal as he stares at him. Suddenly Kozlov runs at Regal and instead of attacking him, he starts hugging and kissing Regal. Regal looks shocked and runs off. Kozlov reveals that he is in love with Regal. Later they reveal that Regal ran off not because he was upset but because he was really happy.

From then on, Kozlov continues to accompany Regal to matches.

What do u think?

What wrestlers do you want to see return to a previous gimmick?

For example, somebody might want to see Luke Gallows be Festus again (although i doubt anyone will give that answer because Gallows is much better off as Gallows)

My answer is Mark Henry. I want to see him come back with the "sexual chocolate" gimmick, only this time, it is changed. Instead of chasing after girls, Henry now will chase after guys. It can start with him and MVP, lets say Henry offers MVP to go to a bar to celebrate them winning some big match and MVP says he is up to that. Then in the bar Henry slides up close to MVP and gently pets his head and says, "You know Montel, you're a good looking guy" and MVP looks confused and says, "Well yeah, thats why I'm ballin" and Henry smiles and looks into MVP's eyes. MVP gets freaked out and goes "Whats wrong with you" and Henry grabs MVP and kisses him and then says "You wanna feel good?" and tries to drag him to a hotel room.

this continues with Henry hitting on all the guys and eventually some guys fall for him and he can come out with a whole entourage of guys, who all cant resist "sexual chocolate".

Well, now you're ideas...

I dont get this.

Whenever anyone mentions women wrestlers, Trish always comes up and everyone talks about how good she was and how she is a legend and the best and everyone seems to go crazy over her.

Now that Mickie has been released I see a lot of ppl remembering Trish because she and mickie had a storyline but it seems everyone remembers trish better than she was.

I mean lets face the facts, okay, Trish was a pretty good womans wrestler at the END of her carrier but she sucked at the beginning and was a boring manager for albert and test which was one of the worst tag teams of all time. Now people hate the divas who are just there as managers and guess what, thats what Trish was and everyone got crazy when she started wrestling and eventually became pretty good at it.

But she is not as legenedary as ppl seem to make her out to be. She was a good wrestler but nothing amazing and a lot of people seem to think she was like the most amazing woman wrestler and she wasnt. There were other good wrestlers like Chyna and Luna who were just as good or better, for example Chyna wrestled men and Trish did not which I think IMO, make Chyna better but she gets no respect while everybody seems to drop on their knees for Trish.

It makes no sense, maybe somebody here can shed some logic on me

You're out of your fucking mind. The fact that she was a great wrestler towards the end makes her even more respectable. She could have easily done nothing and relied on her looks like and still made a shit ton of money. Instead she busted her ass and improved and helped establish the division before the likes of Maria and Candice fucked it up again. Anybody Thrilla

I don't consider Trish's work to be overrated. Thinking about the rest of the women's division during her run, I think she was just a cut above. Compare her work to the Diva's of today, and she's a female HBK.

Honestly, I feel Trish was somewhat of a pioneer...only not in a good way. Hear me out....

Back in the day, WWE would hire somebody like Jazz, Chyna, or Nicole Bass. Jazz could actually wrestle. Chyna and Nicole Bass were at least menacing. Even someone like Molly Holly who was sorta pretty (talk about overrated, holy fuck TPWW) could wrestle a pretty decent match, but she wasn't popping off the screen or anything.

Trish comes along. A former fitness model who was hot as fucking fuck but couldn't wrestle worth a lick. Through some hard work and dedication, she became a pretty fucking good worker (for a woman). I honestly think that Trish's transformation is what made the WWE think 'Well fuck, let's just hire hot chicks and they'll get good eventually, fuck the monster that can work', and the modern Diva was born. The only problem is, not as many women today give as much of a fuck as Trish did.

Xero
04-30-2010, 11:08 AM
I completely agree with that.

Although I consider her work overrated compared to actual women's wrestlers. But compared to a "modern Diva", she's the Bret Hart to their Mass Transit.

Trish was the perfect blend of beauty, work ethic, willingness to learn, natural talent, and love for the business - all in the right place at the right time.

Was she the most technical female wrestler? No, and definitely not at the beginning. But how many more divas have come along and been given as much if not more time to develop their skills and not even come close to the level Trish got to? Trish could "hang" with the likes of Lita, Ivory, Jazz, Chyna, Nicole Bass, and most others who had many more years of formal training than her.

Would you say that you tune in to SmackDOWN! excited for the Beth Phoenix or Natalya segment? For me, I enjoy those two ladies, but they're never the reason I'm watching.

I mean, I can only speak for myself, but the Trish/Mickie feud was probably my favorite thing on Raw while it was happening. I have never looked forward to a women's program as much as I did to that one each week. I also really enjoyed her involvement in the Y2J/Christian program leading into Wrestlemania XX.

From Wikipedia:
Asexuality (also known as nonsexuality[1]) in its broadest sense, describes lack of sexual attraction,[2][3] or interest in or desire for sex.[4] Sometimes, it is considered a lack of a sexual orientation.[5] One commonly cited study placed the incidence rate of asexuality at 1%.[6]

Asexuality is distinct from abstention from sexual activity and from celibacy, which are behavioral and the latter is usually for a religious reason.[7] A sexual orientation, unlike a behavior, is definitionally "enduring".[8] Some asexuals do have sex.[9]

Trish is so loved because she brought women's wrestling "back".

She eventually learned how to wrestle decently, and had tons of charisma.

She actually had a series of actual feuds for the belt. Rather than today where they are just "oh yeah, ok. She's the number one contender now. OH look, she won out of nowhere."

She was THE face of women's wrestling for a good period. Then when she left they tried to replace her with Mickie James and well... we all know how that turned out.

Trish truely proved, for the first time in american female wrestling, that you can be ultra hot and a good worker. she single handedly redefined what womens wrestling was...how does wrestling men even come into play here? It's a work, you work who you're booked to work...

I love Trish and all, but why only she is considered the queen, I really dont know. If Trish wanted to work WWE full-time next week, they would hire her back in a heartbeat. And she also got a great retirement to go out on by winning the title in her hometown. Yet women like Lita, Mickie and Molly have to job their final match, and it seems they are almost not allowed back in WWE.

Though I do blame Trish for what is happening today with WWE. Since they turned one model into a wrestler, they apparently think that they can turn all the models into wrestlers. Which I do have a problem with.

Difference being that Trish learned to work. And thus she gets the special treatment. She is the best of both worlds and in the climate of American female wrestling she is the mecca. Everythign they could have ever wanted and more. Molly Holly could out work Trish. But she couln't out draw her. And Tirsh is a draw. Something few women have ever become, espicially in the states. /she was the total package.

ps-Lita was awful and the only reason she got over was cause she did flippy moves off shit. that = spot monkey.

I want to blame the writers moreso than the women again they give the divas nothing in terms of story and when they hire women we KNOWare awesome in the ring i.e. Gail Kim it seems they make her scale back her considerable skills its amazing really.

I'm of the mindset that if the writers step it up in the women's division it will motivate the women to do the same.

Agreed. Especially with Gail with something I read earlier that her and Katie were going to be sent to SD. But the source said since Kelly is the bigger star, she went instead and Katie gets fired.

TNA definitely gets the nod with their better womens division. They have more actual wrestlers, even Velvet, but they seem to scale her back as well. But since WWE has fired my top 2 favorite women in Mickie and Maria, I am caring even less about WWE's womens division, and they even have 2 belts!

I was thinking about him the other day and how much WWE screwed up by not using him right. I mean here you have a good looking dude just prime to become a good upper midcard heel and you flush him into the toilet.

Escobar was a suave, smooth looking guy and you book him by having him be a lover of...VICKIE? That was an awful business decision. Escobar should have been surrounded by the divas and have been a lady man instead of being booked with that fat monster, Vickie. I mean no offense to her, but she is not exactly the type of girl for a guy who looks like Escobar.

This, IMO, destroyed his character and was the reason why people didnt get into him. I mean, if WWE just let him do it naturally and didnt stick him with Vickie, I think Escobar would be one of the top Smackdown midcarders by now.

His theme music was awesome and I think he could have had a characters that was more like Razor Raymon rather than whatever it is WWE tried to make out of him. I hope WWE realizes there mistake and pushes him in again, but this time lets him be himself.

Am I alone on this?

I don't think aligning Escobar with Vickie was what killed him. They probably should have taken more time with it, though. Vickie herself had been off television for quite some time, so any interest she was garnering was all about her. She had some guy with her that nobody had ever seen, but he clearly wasn't the focal point.

They should have just had Vickie re-debut while Escobar made a separate, regular debut. Have him go out in some matches and make a really good showing for himself, ultimately to come up JUST a little short every time. I probably would have made him a face to start. After a prolonged losing streak, that's when you have Escobar casually start interracting with Vickie backstage, making it clear that Vickie is attracted to him.

In Escobar's next match, have him make another GREAT showing, only to lose again...until Vickie excuses her way onto the stage and restarts the match. Escobar's opponent is yelling at Vickie from the ring about how it isn't fair, and Escobar rolls him up for the three count. Have the two start dating from there, Escobar turns heel, and people have more of a vested interest in him. How over he got probably would still depend on his ring/mic work though, and I didn't really see enough of him to know if he's actually talented.

What ULTIMATELY killed him was the sudden face turn. It was made clear that he was dating her just to try and get ahead on Smackdown (which was already pretty clear), but there was no reason for anybody at all to give a fuck. Maybe if he had lost a title match because of her or something, it would have made more sense. Either way, Vickie just squashed him in their 'feud', and his release felt like a mercy kill.

This. You can't have a face trying to date a heel to get over. I think Vickie was too over for him anyways and she was the focal point. I wasn't a big fan of his in ring work though he was halfway decent on the mic. Too bad no one gave a shit.

Ideally, having popular celebrities as guest hoses should just increase the ratings because people who know and like these celebrities should turn in to watch the WWE.

But it seems that if u look at the ratings, it hasnt increased and also it seems that ratings are even going down since the guest hosts started.

I think that guest hosts are actually removing ratings. Here is why. Look, if you are just some normal guy who doesnt watch wrestling but say, u are a big fan of Rob Zombie (for example) and one night he guest hosts Raw. However, its only advertised on Raw that Rob Zombie is hosting, u dont hear it on the internet or on the radio. So you dont know he is guest hosting and wont tune in.

Now lets say ur a wrestling fan. U hate Rob Zombie, so you know he is hosting next week and you say, "sCrew it I have better things to do than to watch that D-bag". So ideally, Raw should have had +1 rating and -1 rating, equalling out and at a minimum should not lose ratings, but because most celebrities fans would not know that they host RAW and some may hate wrestling so much that they wont watch anyway, the fact is, we only get the -1 for each fan who says, "I aint watching".

So I think the guest hosts are removing ratings.

Now dont get me wrong, I like the guest hosts but I dont think its a good decision for the WWE to have because it isnt working like they thought it would.

What do u guys think?

Ratings always drop after WM. Depending on how popular the guest host is will depend on how many people they bring in. If they ever get Lebron (Which was reported he was going to come with Shaq), ratings would go crazy. We will have to at least wait for the NBA playoffs, or the Cavs to get eliminated before that happens though.

Although, ratings will not drop because the guest host is garbage. Not many people will be like "Ozzy Osborn is going to be on Raw, mess that I am not watching". Most people will just say how stupid it is and still watch (Since they are not watching for the guest host).

Personally, I hope it goes away and we get Regal back in charge before his ass gets fired....but for short term it isn't that bad. I'm sick of it reallly but that doesn't mean I don't pop in each week to see what kind of asses they are making of themselves.

so basically its a love hate relationship for me regarding the guest hosts.

Steveviscious89
05-05-2010, 01:34 PM
I actually think that TNA had much less of an effect on the ratings than people think. Most folks who watch TNA will stick with it, but a lot of them are wrestling fans in general who might rather watch Raw, hence the ratings with Impact lately. I don't think the guest host deal has done anything for the ratings, at least nothing good. It seems like the ratings have been doing a very slow one step forward and two steps back kind of thing for a real long time.
