Ashdautas - Shadow Plays Of Grief and Pain.

5/10. Poor production quality combined with generic music make for an extremely average album that seems to try too hard for the "kvlt" sound of older albums.

I've heard a few Sabaton songs but I am not all that familiar with them. The few songs that I've heard never caught my interest. I just listened to the title track of "Art of War" and it's a bit too "pompous" (power metal-ish) for my taste. Sort of like Hammerfall, good sound, but not something I would listen to extensively.

I would have killed to go to that. Guetta is such a bitch and he acts like he's a martyr by totally selling out. The shit he used to do with Chris Willis on vocals was amazing. But I guess since Willis isn't Rihanna Guetta thumbs his nose at him.

Kaskade "Fire and Ice" 6/10. Kinda disappointing.

Armin Van Buuren "Trance Classics 6" 10/10. Brought back so many great memories

Armin Van Buuren "Trance Classics 7" 7/10. This should and might be the end of these. A few good tracks from Armin, Marco V and Above&Beyond but it seems like he's pretty much run out of classics that were good.

Ferry Corsten "WKND" 9/10. Not as good as Right of Way which is my fav Trance album of all time, but pretty amazing. Brute, Not Coming Down and Live Forever are the standouts.

Not one bad song on the record. Unique band to come out of 2012 and have a mainstream hit song.

Adjective
Deliberately created rather than arising naturally or spontaneously.
Giving a sense of artificiality.

The same could be said for any and all music on the radio. Sometimes it's fun to crawl out from under the rock known as "indie" and just enjoy some awesome Earthy music that was created with basically no intention of succeeding.

Do you think M&S thought they would get to perform with Bob Dylan 2 years ago? No. They may have shared some commercial success but it came from a very natural place. Me thinks. And that is after much research on the roots of the group.

The Lumineers may very well be a ripoff of Fun. or Mumford & Sons, however.

That Armin cd is a compliation album of old Trance songs from his radio show. It's fantastic though.

I totally get this. There was nothing like it and now there's a handful of groups playing banjos and dressing like Amish people and Minonites. Same thing, however, can be said for grunge in the early 90's (Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarder, Pearl Jam) and thrash in the early-mid 80's (Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax). Success begets success and one group can kick start a pervasive movement as it seems Mumford and Sons with the acoustic, modern singer/songwriter genre.

It is more a case of that I feel the likes of Mumford and Sons are just putting this act on, and don't have any real substance to backup what they play.

Same can be said of manufactured pop. But you know what you are getting with such "artists."

10 Years - Minus The Machine 8/10

Pretty decent. Seemed a little rushed to me considering I never heard any hype for the album until it was already out. It's taking time to grow on me but it I don't think it will feel better to me than Feeding The Wolves, and it certainly isn't it as great as Division was. As far as the whole techno sound goes, it's pretty good. I still prefer their previous album but this one does improve upon the old. So hyper critical of any Davey Havok/Jade Puget work due to my ex-fiance's obsession with them. It has a nice mix of popular techno style mixed with 80's synth. Add in the weird vocal style of Havok and it's a 7.

Dont know if I ever gave my thoughts on this album, but

Ronald Jenkees - Days Away 10/10

If this style of music is your thing, you absolutely can't go wrong with Jenkees.

Where 'Disorganized Fun' was all about the "solo", leading you through every song with a sick keyboard-shredding riff every time, Days Away is way more subtler than that. He really tries new things, the solo becomes more of a background noise while the rhythm and beat takes the lead. It's such a subtle album that it took a few listens before it clicked. Now, it's possibly my favorite thing he's put out.

If you're not aware of who Ronald Jenkees is, fucking YOUTUBE THAT SHIT GOD DAMN IT.

Sidetracked is possibly one of the sickest songs I've ever heard.

Really? all I heard was negativity, but thanks for this. I'm going to give this one a try.

Rob Zombie is sort of like Slayer. It's a fun "by the numbers" RZ album and I actually like solo Rob a bit more than White Zombie, so take that in mind.

I liked Hellbilly Deluxe 2 a lot. Educated Horses was my least favorite but still a pretty good album. But the new album has 2 ex-members from my favorite band so I might be a bit biased when judging it

I heard mixed reviews as well but I don't know what people expected from it.

My Head is an Animal by Of Monsters and Men: 6.4/10

By contemporary standards, this is a fine album and deserves credit both musically and lyrically in a vast wasteland of auto tuning + vapid and superficial lyrics about dancing and partying. However, it cannot be ignored that this album drags and a lot of the songs have an AC/DC quality of sounding similar or just run too long. The standout tracks are 1,3,6,8 in my opinion. They're mostly the singles, so it was a wise decision to put their best feet forward into the mainstream. One of the better albums of 2012 but must be listened to only on occasion in its entirety, otherwise the droning of some songs or the sameness taint it after consecutive repeated listens.

It has been quite a while since I last posted any new albums that I've listened to; I can't be arsed naming them all, so just the four in the last week or so.

Dennis Russell Davies/Vienna RSO/Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra - Philip Glass: Symphony 2 7.5/10 (I really like the symphony itself, which I would give an 8.5/10, but the other pieces bore me somewhat)

Patricia Petibon/Paavo Jarvi/Orchestre de Paris/Choeur de l'Orchestra de Paris - Poulenc: Stabat Mater/Gloria/Litanies a la Vierge Noire 8.5/10 (I wish there was more Patricia, but you can't fault the music)

Brand New - The Devil and God are Raging inside Me 7.5/10

Frank Sinatra - In the Wee Small Hours 8/10

Listened to sigh no more and babel by mumford and sons yesterday while working.

I can not listen to that kind of music through ear phones but in the background like elevator music its alright.

7/10 both albums

really like this record. feels like familiar lawrence arms territory with a few additions to the formula. perhaps i expected a bit more after such a long time between full lengths, but i'm not at all disappointed.

ok so i got high and really listened to this with some damn headphones. some pretty awesome stuff on there. a definite continued evolution for them, especially on tracks like "the ymca down the street from the clinic" and "paradise shitty." maybe an 8.4 now. but i'll let you know after a few more listens.

Tyler, The Creator - Bastard

I accidentally stumbled across the song "Bastard" while looking for another song, and I really dug it. Had some time on my hands today, so I threw the whole album on in the background. I really dig the lyrics and flow through most of the album. While it was impressive that he was only 17/18 when this album was made AND he made his own beats, some of those beats left a bit to be desired. They hit in nice places, but they're missing SOMETHING in the middle fairly often. Still, an enjoyable listen for a hip hop head.

8/10

Favorite track: "Bastard"

Have you seen the documentary about Death?

Been listening to a bootleg live CD of GG Allin. It is mostly his more country sounding stuff. I wish GG had done more stuff like that. And focused less on the shock stuff.

When he wasn't trying to shock people he put out some good to great music.

I like most of GG's early stuff. And his more outlaw country stuff. I still hate that he decided to focus more on the shock value than the music.

A friend of mine in Vancouver got to meet Death when they were touring promoting the documentary. Maybe I will get lucky and they will play Jackson or New Orleans.

Holy shit!

Have you heard it? When I got it,I ripped it loaded it on my mp3 player and listened to it on repeat for almost 8 hours.

I am hoping they record more stuff. Not sure how good it will be.Since the brother that died wrote most of the old stuff. That album has this raw primal energy to it that very few bands can capture.

Into some weird electro rock stuff at the moment. Loving Chvrches album. 8/10

After watching the Brits, listened to rudimentals album. Wtf? 3/10.

Disclosure I give a 5/10 for their album settle.

Not sure what I am missing with daft punks album random access memories. I tried again and I just don't feel it. 4/10

In a tidal wave of mystery by capital cities is good, but gets a bit samey after four or five songs. 6/10
