Anybody Thrilla 08-24-2008 11:16 AM

I was joking. I thought you understood.

Anybody Thrilla 08-24-2008 11:16 AM

It would be a fine name.

Afterlife 08-24-2008 05:24 PM

I"m sorry. :$

FROM THE MAIN PAGE ON TPWW.NET

» Ryan Howard sent this in regarding the Smackdown tapings on Tuesday in Moline, IL: It turns out that it wasn't Kevin Thorn in the battle royal. It was Ryan Braddock. Not once during the episode on TV did they say his name. Also, as I watched Shelton Benjamin's promo on TV, they clearly edited over his voice when he said Michael Phelps. Benjamin actually called him MARK Phelps, so he definitely botched that promo. Also, the Vickie Guerrero promo at the beginning of the show, was not what was shown to the crowd at the tapings. She had come out in her wheelchair and explained the Championship Scramble. However, she described it so badly, that she made it seem like the Scramble was happening that very night instead of Unforgiven. The video shown at the beginning of SD was shown before the main event, and there was no audio to it, which left the crowd with a "WTF?" expression. Thought I'd let you know.

This is the start, calling it now.

Understandable, since most people don't give a shit about the Olympics.

I take it you are not a American? That is the only way to explain how you would not know the guys name.

Juan 08-24-2008 07:19 PM

I know the guys name, I'm saying that Benjamin's mistake is understandable, since most people don't give a shit about the Olympics.

PS. I take it you are American, hence the bad grammar.

Xero 08-24-2008 07:20 PM

Guess I'm not American, since I don't know of him, though I may have heard the name in passing.

Yeah, he must be a American. I'd bet he also watches the Olympic's.

"The network estimated 157 million people, or more than half the U.S. population, caught some Olympic action on at least one of its outlets, including USA, MSNBC and Oxygen, during the first four days of the games. That's an 11 percent viewership increase over the first four days of the 2004 Athens Games, NBC said"

-------------------------------------------------------

NBC says its official: The Beijing Games has become the most-watched U.S. television event of all time.

Through 16 days of coverage, 211 million viewers have watched the Olympics on NBC Universal's broadcast network and cable channels, according to Nielsen Media Research

--------------------------------------------------------------

"More than 80 percent of Chinese households have tuned in to some broadcasts, guaranteeing the $2 billion company a huge pot of advertising gold."

"Audiences for the BBC's coverage of the Olympic Games have reached a massive 40 million, according to the corporation.

The BBC today said a total of about 40 million people in the UK have watched at least 15 minutes of the Beijing Olympics - up from 32 million last week.

Despite the time difference between the UK and Beijing, the Games - which finish on Sunday - have been a big hit for the corporation."

I could probably pull up more articles if I had more time to cover more countires, but you get the picture. Unless you're not talking about people on planet Earth, then I don't know what you're talking about?

Juan 08-24-2008 07:47 PM

Good job.

I love him, but I still blame him. The writers have tried to get behind him several times but he has this amazing knack of fucking up or dropping the ball every single time he and his character CANNOT afford such fuck ups.

Afterlife 08-24-2008 08:55 PM

Olympics are dumb. :D

Mr. Nerfect 08-27-2008 10:54 AM

Maybe Shelton botched the name on purpose. You know, like a Chris Jericho "I care so little about you I'm going to get your name wrong on purpose" thing?

Benjamin seems like a really funny guy, and he has little moments where so much personality shines through. I remember seeing him on RAW when he first arrived, and marking the fuck out for his match against Triple H, where Triple H would condescend Shelton, then Shelton would own The Game, and give him the exact same "this close" gesture, or pat Triple H on the side of the face. The WWE really dropped the ball with Shelton in 2004.

On a random note: I'd love to see a match between Shelton Benjamin, The Brian Kendrick and Carlito representing SmackDown! and Charlie Haas, Paul London and Primo Colon representing RAW. That would be a really fun match.

Anybody Thrilla 08-27-2008 11:37 AM

That sounds like the most random match of all time.

It pretty much is. It basically just came to mind when I was thinking how awesome it would be if Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas actually got to wrestle one day. Or if Paul London and Brian Kendrick had a feud. Or if Carlito and Primo were on the same brand.

Indifferent Clox 08-27-2008 03:18 PM

It'd be all the tag teams together... why the fuck is my font gold.. I did not put gold as my font. this is fucking weird. I seriously did not press any buttons or put any code down and yet my font is now this goldish yellow color, seriously wtf?

Indifferent Clox 08-27-2008 03:18 PM

it is doing it again!!! this is so fucking weird

Indifferent Clox 08-27-2008 03:18 PM

ok it just shows up in the reply box that way.. but still really weird

Indifferent Clox 08-27-2008 03:19 PM

I suspect some mod shenanigans

Anybody Thrilla 08-27-2008 04:05 PM

I suspect you have smoked copious amounts of marijuana.

Xero 08-27-2008 04:09 PM

That's like saying "I suspect The Sandman may have had a keg or two today"...

Indifferent Clox 08-27-2008 05:11 PM

Dude it really is doing it. I don't know how to prove it. And no I haven't smoked anything in two months. Fuck, I wish... :(

Still doing it right now.

Indifferent Clox 08-27-2008 05:11 PM

type in the quick reply box I promise

Are you kidding, Jim Ross at the end of last year just started calling Jeff Hardy the rainbow-haired warrior and you're telling me they need to be earned

According to "Words and Phrase Origins: 3rd Edition" the term paydirt has the following origin...

"One authority traces the expression to the Chinese pei (to give) and used by Chinese miners in California, pay dirt thus meaning 'dirt that gives gold.' However, it more likley derives from the fact that it is dirt containing enough gold dust to pay for working it. The expression is first recorded in 1856."

Thus having someone who's nickname is "The Gold Standard" and his finisher being called "paydirt" is actually quite clever and not really "what the fuck" worthy.

He had multicolored hair and dyes it often. Also, that's a terrible nickname anyway.

First let me say, :y: for going to the trouble of looking that up.

However, my "What the fuck" was not in regards to the origin of the word. If you have any sense of American history, you know what "paydirt" means. It just happens to be a really stupid name for a wrestling move. That's why I say "what the fuck".

Point being he just gave it to him, if it was earned he deserved it years ago

Afterlife 08-28-2008 11:28 AM

I don't think you understand what I'm talking about.

Side not: I just experienced Clox's "Golden Text Phenomenon".

Lux 08-28-2008 11:46 AM

I understand, i prefer not to :p

side note: what is this phenomenon you speak of?

Alright fair enough, I was just thinking it might be a phrase you're not familiar with. I actually like the name for that move but you idea of "The Title Shot" is actually pretty good as well.

Indifferent Clox 08-28-2008 05:46 PM

omg it's like I'm playing earthbound rite now

Indifferent Clox 08-28-2008 05:46 PM

In my quick reply box, my text was showing up gold instead of white. No explanations as to why.

Indifferent Clox 08-29-2008 02:54 AM

(still doing it)

I just want to point out the default text isn't white, it's gray.

For a guy who writes in purple you really should know your colors better.

Lux 08-29-2008 03:30 AM

The fact you knew the difference between gray and white in the quick reply box while posting on tpww is beyond me

Indifferent Clox 08-29-2008 04:06 AM

grey (i.e. default)

white

Afterlife 08-29-2008 05:51 AM

Looks like yellow, to me.

Afterlife 08-29-2008 05:51 AM

Oh, and this is "Dark Orchid", hypocrite. :p
