now back to our regularly scheduled NBA finals discussion.

LOL, it's funny, because that's what you seem to be doing... Right up until you decided to ignore me. But yeah, you went the much more mature route. Kudos.

Someone, quote this for VEL, please and or thank you.

Look, dudes. I bleed purple and gold. You know this. We will win game 5, pretty sure, there;s no way we are taking 2 in Boston. It's time to be realistic. Teams have never come back frm 3-1 in the finals (0-28), come on. Next year will be fantastic though.

IC Champion 06-13-2008 05:44 PM

Those teams didn't have Kobe Bean Bryant either.

well of course the statistic's are against us and realistically its gunna take a miracle to take even 1 in boston, but part of being a die-hard fan is to believe in ur team no matter what the circumstances.

But yeh regardless, next year should be huge :D

SammyG 06-13-2008 06:03 PM

You're right.

BOSTON SUCKS LAAAAAAAKE SHOWWWWWWWWW

... Not feeling it.

IC Champion 06-13-2008 06:05 PM

Sammy is a Broken man, DAMN YOU BOSTON!!!!

IC Champion 06-13-2008 06:05 PM

Lakers need to win by the like 30 next game.

SammyG 06-13-2008 06:10 PM

Lakers can win by 50 next game and it won't make a difference for me, personally. It's not like we'll be awarded 2 wins for it. We'll still be down 3-2. However, if this does go to a game 7... LAAAAAAAAKE SHOWWWWWWWW Sammy will be back.

come'on, if you bleed you're colors and cry at the outcomes you should still be full-speed every game... none of this "it's not possible".

it is, I don't think it will happen, but I'm rooting for the enemy anyway.

Part of me wants the Celtics to win Sunday and put the stake through the heart, part of me wants a game 6 so I can be in the stands when they win..

either way I'll be happy.

now the NBA wants 7 games, but that's just the ad money talking.

SammyG 06-13-2008 06:20 PM

I will lol if this does go 7, because of officiating.

Jura 06-13-2008 06:30 PM

I wish I was half as good as Chris Paul.

But his D being over-rated?

He owned Kobe in the 3rd.

you're really now going to predict the Lakers take 3 in a row?

You just really don't want to lose your $100.00 do you?

3 game win streaks arent all that impossible when you think about it...i know, crazy right?

WTF, kobe has fucked more white women up the ass who didn't complain in 1 season then you will in youre life.

The suns made a stupid trade, "shaq is our muscle" what a fucking joke, I'm not rooting for sammy, but I'd expect you to come with more ammo wadding... at least bring Kobe's whole " bed wetting" quote... wtf, I expect better of you....

RP 06-14-2008 04:18 PM

Kobe Bryant = Jack Bauer of the NBA

If you have Kobe Bryant, you can come back from anything or any circumstance. If it were any other player in the league ( ANY no arguments ). I'd say the series is done. But because they have Kobe, its not. Kobe is a flat out killer. He'll most likely drop 45+ tonight. And i dont trust the Celtics to close a series out like they should. Not after the Atlanta series.

But i've been wrong before. I think this series goes 7 still. No Kobe, and it would end tonight.

McLegend 06-14-2008 04:32 PM

Killers don't blow 24 point leads at home in the finals.

So Kobe Bryant is an average player then? He's not clutch anymore? He cant carry a team? What are you saying? They got outplayed. They couldnt make shots and couldnt make stops. He may not be Jordan, but he's the best player in the league by far and he's one of maybe 5 players that will rip a teams heart out no matter what the circumstance. It was just a bad game. Its happend to other teams before. Leads get blown. Teams like the Celtics step up and make huge runs. The NBA is about long scoring runs. It always has been. Just because his team blew a lead doesnt make him anyless of the player he is.

IC Champion 06-14-2008 04:44 PM

I wish everyone would quit saying it's over, when there is still atleast one more game to be played.

You fucking have KOBE FUCKING BRYANT. My favorite team has Peyton Manning. It dont matter how bad we're getting beat, if we have Peyton Manning, we have a shot. Dont lose faith. I didnt lose faith in the AFC Championship game. I wanted to, but I walked outside at halftime and thought about it. I said " Wait a second..we fucking have Peyton Manning and Bob Sanders ". I feel like Luke Walton is gunna come up big in game 5. I dont know why for sure, but its just a funny feeling i have.

Don't ever compare him to Jack Bauer again is what I'm saying. Jack would have closed that game.

Bad game is understatement btw.

VonErichLives 06-14-2008 05:32 PM

So, if the Celtics close it out game 5, can we stop comparing Kobe to Jordan?

There is only one MJ and Kobe is not MJ. (not saying Kobe is average, just not on MJ's level)

:y:, no one player can single handedly win games in the finals of a team sport. Look at gretzky, would he have won all those stanley cups in edmonton w/o Messier, Coffey, Kurri and Fuhr? or would Bird have won those 3 titles w/o Parish and Mchale? I don't think so

Also, VEL is a queer, who talks funny because he's from Boston,.

Unless Luke Walton has secretly been Bill Walton all along, it's far fetched.

This guy can't even hit an open jumper from 17.

Adam Vinatieri wears #4...

if Luke wins the game with a buzzer beater... :shifty:

yeah but he barley got that ball, and if he missed Pierce had open path to the basket.

Like Van Gundy said it was quite the gamble.

Crimson 06-15-2008 11:59 PM

Van Gundy is awesome. After Odom sunk a three and stuck out his tounge he's like 'Don't be sticking your tounge out at anyone when you haven't done anything in these finals' lol

HeartBreakMan2k 06-15-2008 11:59 PM

Sick game, as an bystander in this, I have favored the Lakers more in this series, but they make me fucking angry.

Their problem is that for as individually talented as each of their players are (probably the most individually talented team in the league), they really fall apart as a team once they hit a comfort zone. They don't have a "coast" mode as a team. They have a "holy shit, we're incredible" mode and a "we're lazy sacks of shit" mode.

Crimson 06-16-2008 12:00 AM

Juan 06-16-2008 12:10 AM

Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson sure know how to kill a buzz. Anywho...

alvarado52 06-16-2008 12:11 AM

K, so i may be flamed for this, but i am a diehard Laker fan...im also a diehard basketball fan and will call things how i see it.

I dont think the Lakers deserve this championship. I feel we are the future, and will have a nice title run, and at least one in the next couple years...but these finals, i dont think we deserve it.

I dont think PJ Brown deserves it. Dude retires then unretires 6 weeks prior to the playoffs?

I think if the Celts win this title, Ray Allen should be MVP. Ive always been a Ray Ray mark, going back to when he was drafted to the Bucks (i hoped we drafted him honestly, but we ended up taking this guy named Kobe Bryant from the Hornets that year, so i guess that works out).

I DO think this is good for the NBA

and last but not least...

....I dont think this will be the end of the war between these two teams.

SammyG 06-16-2008 12:19 AM

In other news, Fallen Angel still eats greasy panzarottis and is still ugly and fat.

Anyway, NBA Related, it's good to get the W, but I'm not convinced yet. We didn't play with the conviction I expected, and it got fucking scary at the end. What's up with blowing 19 point leads, jesus. Anyway, we will really need to improve our game if we wanna win game 6.... If we win that one... Anything can happen in a game 7.. and when you have Kobe Bryant on your team in a game 7.. watch out.

Paul Pierce was a fucking BEAST tonight by the way. Mad props.

SammyG 06-16-2008 12:20 AM

also yeah, that "steal" by Kobe was definitely a foul. Reached in like crazy, made no contact with the ball.

ron the dial 06-16-2008 12:20 AM

SammyG 06-16-2008 12:27 AM

His moving screens are terrible, yes.

McLegend 06-16-2008 12:27 AM

I kind of think Game 6 is going to be blowout by Boston.

Juan 06-16-2008 12:29 AM

i don't care how ugly it gets, but I still believe we can take game 6. All bets are off for game 7.

McLegend 06-16-2008 12:41 AM

The Lakers had to give everything just to win this game. Kobe for the most part has gone missing these last 2 games.

Lamar Odom played out of his mind, and Gasol had a great game. I attribute these two things to KG being in foul trouble, and Kendrick Perkins being injured. There is no way you are going too see Lamar Odom playing that well in game 6. I know it's Kendrick Perkins, but if he plays then Boston is going to win game 6.

KG is going to play better at home, and I don't think he is going to in foul trouble again.
No one on the Lakers can stop Paul Pierce aside from Kobe, but Kobe is too important on offense to cover him for all game. So Pierce is probably going to have another big game.

Also Gasol is just totally lost on the Pick n rolls. He got beat everytime.

So if you get KG and Pierce having good games, and then if Ray Allen just does what he did tonight then the Lakers don't stand a chance.

SammyG 06-16-2008 12:42 AM

WOOOOO, I win the bet with Jeritron. Jeritron must change his custom title to LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE SHOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, because he bet me that the Celts would win it in 5.

VonErichLives 06-16-2008 12:57 AM

I thought it was funny the Celtics were favored by 6 in this game.

The Kobe steal at the end was a big risk, in fairness he hit the ball before he touched pierces side (looked more like just jersey) I was ok with that non-call... there was some other stuff, but with the whole nba reffing crap I think everyone is over analizing every call/non-call...

I expected more from LA tonight, I thought they'd just take the Celtics to town all night, especially with all the early foul trouble for the C's.

Gasoft actually got a set of balls tonight, didn't always use them, but at times I was impressed.

someone offered me 10x face value for my game 6 tickets after game 4, and said if there wasn't a game six they wouldn't ask for money back.

I didn't do it, I'm happy, something like this could be a once in a lifetime thing.

I'll be there Tuesday night and hopefully it's all over then.

as for mvp if the Celtics win, all the talk around here has been Ray Allen or Pierce, Allen deserves it more this series, not just the offense but the D he's played on Kobe, but Pierce has been a beast also and sometimes track record gets it and Allen didn't show up until 1/2 way through detroit.

Jura 06-16-2008 01:13 AM

Pierce will probably get it if Celtics win unless Allen does something amazing in the last game. Even if it is a toss up between them I think Pierce will get it because he's been a Celtic for a long time and is the Captain/Leader.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 06-16-2008 01:49 AM

Celts really need Perk back, after looking dominate on the glass for the first 4 games of this series they where lacking on rebounds - especially defensive rebounds - and allowing the Lakers a lot of 2nd shot opportunities. Really hope the Celtics take care of this shit in the next game though, going to game 7 is way too dangerous.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 06-16-2008 01:51 AM

And before anyone says anything I am not sure how dominate they have been number wise on the glass, it could be a lot closer than it seems to me. But tonight it just seemed like they where was a lot more tip ins and shit like that, plus Gasol actually looked like a low post player.

Juan 06-16-2008 01:59 AM

SammyG 06-16-2008 02:40 AM

Whoa. Ray Allen caught an emergency flight back to Boston after the game, his daughter was sent to the hospital, something with diabetes. No reports on if it will affect his playing status, but I doubt it.

MCEazy 06-16-2008 03:45 AM

shittyass game by the lakers, but considering they won, it doesn't say much about boston ether.
If the lakers pull a miracle out of their ass and steal game 6, boston better be worried

RP 06-16-2008 07:40 AM

I cant watch the NBA anymore. These series are a joke and they're fixed to go the distance. I'm sorry. They just are. In the first two games the Celts were getting all the calls. I mean, they were getting everything called there way. Then Game 3 comes and Kobe is practically driving everytime he gets the ball, not even trying to make a basket, just jumping and throwing his arms in the air while looking at the ref and they call the foul everytime. I truely believe what that dirty ref is saying about playoff series being fixed to go to 7 games. Last night the Celtics, specifically KG werent getting any calls. It was unreal. KG got absolute hacked atleast 6 times that i counted and nothing was called and then they would call an absolute ticky tack foul on the Celts at the other end. I've never seen anything like this. Its been this way in more then one series this year. I have no horse in this series, i'm not rooting against or for the Celts or the Lakers. Its so obvious to me though. And its like the elephant in the room type deal. No one wants to actually say it on TV. But its there. I fully expect this series to go 7 games because of this.

Luke Walton was a beast last night. Did you see him pick up that 5th team foul defending pierce at half court for no good reason whatsoever....

Crimson 06-16-2008 09:16 AM

So if it ends tuesday you are wrong?

Fabien Barthez 06-16-2008 10:07 AM

I only saw the first half. And that was a crazy ball game for sure. Paul Peirce was just immaculate in his all round game in the 2nd Q. It was Bizarre to say the least.

Why didn't I watch the 2nd Half?

shit, I remember when plays like that were common in the NBA, no one cared about "going for the ball" you had teams like Detroit who would say "We're not going to allow a layup this game, if they're going to beat us, it will be jum shorts outide the paint"

heck, Celtics/lakers of the 80's same type of stuff...

They used to say Jordan wouldn't have been Jordan back in the 50's-60's cause he would have made 1 free throw line leaping dunk and then the next time Russell or Chamberlin would have knocked him into the cheap seats.

Uh, Rivers says that Perk is doubtful for the rest of the series, but he says he is "definitely playing" in game 6. wtf.

FYI, free throws/free throw attempts for game 5...

LAL-23/31

LOL. You are an idiot.

I guess the NBA should regress to the ways of the 50's and 60's. There is a difference between a good hard foul, and a flagrant. Clotheslining someone in mid-air is just dirty, and cheap.

Pretty sure Basketball isn't a full contact sport. VEL is a bitch, so can someone quote this post for me.

not really the point, though. the numbers would be different if calls were actually being made. just because the teams shoot the same amount of free throws doesn't mean that one team wasn't screwed. not saying that's what happened, but there were some definite missed calls last night.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 06-16-2008 06:21 PM

That first foul by Posey on Deng was pretty rough but that announcer needs to chill out, the second one they showed wasn't ALL that bad.

Also I agree with WeX, I hate how people always just looks at s the numbers to decided whether or not a team got breaks or not. I mean why can't one team commit like 10 more fouls than the other team? That seems pretty reasonable to me.

Not really gonna complain about the refs though, that was a tough call at the end. I thought Pierce just dribbled it off his thigh, didn't even realize Kobe hit him until I saw the replay.

Also totally unrelated but I guess Bill Walker from Kansas State is staying in the draft even though he hurt his knee in work outs. Really want this guy to fall to the Celtics and have them pick him up

lmfao...

glad to see 10 "real" lakers fans could make it..

suprised I didn't see Jack, Sly, Eddie, Will or Justin with that group...

Also, anyone else find it funny that Jack sits on the vistors bench now... he jumped up at one point and almost ran into Doc...

I would assume at some point some team will complain about that stuff...

Juan 06-16-2008 07:44 PM

Also, what is that thing that KG wears on his finger? I've never gotten a good look at it, just glimpses.

SammyG 06-16-2008 08:22 PM

SammyG 06-16-2008 11:46 PM

lol yeah, seen it. Anyway, Celtics plane JUST landed in Boston, they had mechanical problems. I am starting to find these sequences ridiculous, of Laker opponents.

Denver : Their bus caught on fire on the way to staples
Utah : Kirilienko had Visa problems flying back to Utah.
Spurs: Their flight to LA for game 1 was delayed for like 10 hours and they had to sleep on the plane overnight.

MCEazy 06-16-2008 11:49 PM

hmm, Stern's got people fukin with the plane engines maybe? lol

SammyG 06-16-2008 11:53 PM

Phil Jackson:

Quote:

Chris Mihm made a surprise appearance and played almost three minutes in the second quarter, while Trevor Ariza and Ronny Turiaf didn't even total three minutes of playing time. "We tried some different faces out there to see what we could do, but we're not going to stay with that," Jackson said. "We won't be comfortable with that" tonight.
