SlickyTrickyDamon 07-01-2014 03:31 AM

Don't really give a shit about the cover if the game is awesome. But why are they announcing the cover this early? I thought the game was coming in March?

Disturbed316 07-01-2014 04:51 AM

Nope, it's back to October this year.

Disturbed316 07-12-2014 05:04 AM

Huge superstar roster reveal:

SPOILER: show

http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/...g1-300x316.jpg

:-\

IGN thought this was a worthy reveal stating 'Darren Young, the wrestler otherwise known as "Mr. No Days Off," will be included as a character in both last and next-gen versions of WWE 2K15.

Young has appeared on several WWE programs such as Sunday Night Heat, Velocity, SmackDown and Raw.'

When was the last time Heat was on?

Evil Vito 07-12-2014 08:02 AM

Meh, I get why they revealed him. Young was there to promote the game at the Gaymer convention. Wouldn't have made much sense to go to the convention at all had there not been a gay wrestler in the game.

The more the merrier. A guy like Young who has done absolutely nothing since the Prime Time Players split getting into the game should mean anybody more relevant (most of the roster) will be in too.

Cool King 07-12-2014 08:09 AM

Was that from IGN?

Because Heat ended in 2008 and it hasn't been called Sunday Night Heat since 2005.

As for Velocity, that ended in 2006. Darren Young debuted in 2010, so if he did appear on Heat and Velocity, then it would have been as a jobber under his real name.

Disturbed316 07-12-2014 07:26 PM

Yeah that's what they put up, didn't think Heat went much further than 2008.

SlickyTrickyDamon 07-12-2014 07:33 PM

Wiki says its true but the link to the information it quotes is a dead link.

Razzamajazz 07-12-2014 09:34 PM

there's seriously such a thing as a "gaymer" convention?

Kalyx triaD 07-12-2014 10:10 PM

Yes.

Evil Vito 07-12-2014 10:20 PM

So via the roster page, social media, or articles written about the game the officially confirmed roster is now at:

AJ Lee
Bray Wyatt
Cameron
Cesaro
Darren Young
Hulk Hogan
John Cena
Naomi
Roman Reigns

I'm batting 1.000 right now with my roster predictions. I rule. :shifty:

Razzamajazz 07-12-2014 11:06 PM

OK.

SlickyTrickyDamon 07-13-2014 12:01 AM

Vaudevillains yay or nay?

Purgatory 07-13-2014 08:16 PM

definite yay. It's one of the more original gimmicks that I've seen in awhile.

Fignuts 07-14-2014 01:07 AM

Feel like we should at least have a few screen shots by now, if this is coming out in october.

Purgatory 07-14-2014 04:05 AM

Yeah really. We'd also be getting more info on modes, etc.

I have a feeling this is gonna be a last minute delay.

Frank Drebin 07-14-2014 10:00 AM

In the past they haven't done a main roster reveal until SummerSlam so I wouldn't worry if you don't get much until then.

Honestly I wouldn't mind a delay if that gets a better product out there. Can't just have a 2k14 port with a few roster updates as your first game on the new consoles.

Evil Vito 07-14-2014 04:02 PM

Yeah Axxess was their go-to place for the roster reveal the past 3 years or so. With it gone I wonder how it will go.

I used to love the IGN SmackDown Countdown back in the day. Got to see one wrestler's entrance/finisher/stats etc. a day and you'd never know when the person you wanted to see most was going to pop up. Think there was one year where they didn't even reveal the roster at all and just started the countdown, so it was a total surprise.

Cool King 07-14-2014 04:14 PM

Yeah, I remember that. I really liked that.

I get the feeling we'll get some news tonight on Raw, but it'll just be about Sting. I'm sure that's what his "cryptic message" on Twitter is alluding to. He'll be DLC for 2K15.

If that is true, we'll probably get a few clips of his character in action, so we could get more information that way, for example, see more of the roster during the video, with him applying the Scorpion Deathlock on Adam Rose or whatever.

XL 07-14-2014 04:30 PM

I loved the IGN coverage. Although it did feel there was very little to see by the time the game came out.

Disturbed316 07-15-2014 03:13 AM

Pretty sweet hype video for Sting, showed absolutely nothing though.

Evil Vito 07-15-2014 07:17 AM

There seems to be a lot of panic on IGN and other boards about there not being any screenshots or anything yet.

Wouldn't be shocked if it's basically WWE 2k14 ported over to next gen with better graphics tbh. Next year is when I think we'll finally have a different feel to the game. WWE doesn't exactly help with their rigid production window.

Frank Drebin 07-15-2014 09:51 AM

If that's the case it's a shame. Last year I said I was looking forward to 2k15 expecting last year's version to be the same as 13. One year of that with the developer switchover is understandable. Two in a row and people will start to dismiss that and all future incarnations.

If it's the same, maybe there are issues we aren't privy to, like the aforementioned wwe rigidity, that are in the way of making a complete product.

Who knows. As with many things wwe: Hope for the best, expect the worst.

Evil Vito 07-25-2014 11:10 AM

Suppose it'll be a lot of talking about their careers, the current product, etc. Hopefully they let the roster out early on though rather than dragging it on the full time.

I'm most interested in hearing what, if any, NXT guys made the cut anyway. Xavier Woods recently said that he was going to be in the game...so if a guy like Woods who had done nothing for months on end got into the game, I'd think it's a safe bet that nearly everybody from the main roster is in.

A Gamestop employee in California has sent in word that the unannounced Hulk Hogan special edition of WWE 2K15 will be available for pre-order in early September. It will feature an exclusive Hulk Hogan DLC character from WrestleMania 30, a personal autograph from Hogan, a disc from one of his DVD’s, and an alternate cover for the game.

Fignuts 07-31-2014 12:18 AM

A little over 2 months away and not a single gameplay detail or screen shot. This is fucked, I'm telling you.

Kalyx triaD 07-31-2014 01:02 AM

Yeah kinda worrying now.

Fignuts 07-31-2014 01:24 AM

Still mad they didn't let 2k release it in March. Probably worried about losing sales by taking it out of the holiday season, but releasing it during "Wrestlemania Fever" would have garnered a lot of sales, especially without having to go up against AAA titles that most people are more interested in.

Fuck the suits who bumped it up.

Kalyx triaD 07-31-2014 01:29 AM

Suits are the devil.

Fignuts 07-31-2014 08:11 AM

So I'm just now finding out that next-gen doesn't have custom soundtracks.

That is a huge bummer for wrestling games.

Dark-Slicer Diago 07-31-2014 09:22 AM

That's a bummer, you'd think it would become standard in every game since it was added.

whiteyford 07-31-2014 10:46 AM

Yeah not excited by this game at all so far.

drave 07-31-2014 10:48 AM

STACY KIEBLER BABY BUMP NUDE PICS - MUST SEE!!

whiteyford 07-31-2014 11:02 AM

There's been enough backlash that I think the next-gen systems will eventually release a patch so that MP3s can be ripped to the system hard drive again. I can't speak to the XBOne but for the PS4 the functionality is still there. There are still USB ports even though the PS4 does not recognize them. Hopefully they'll eventually patch it up since they've gotten plenty of complaints.

Would suck if they didn't, though. Will feel like going back to the PS2 days where all of my CAWs had generic themes.

Ditto.

At this moment, I'm even questioning if I should even bother getting it at all.

Something really good is going to need to happen for me to want the game now at this stage.

If we see footage of it during SummerSlam Weekend, and it just looks like the exact same as the previous games and with the same gameplay, but with a more up to date roster, then I'm counting myself out.

whiteyford 07-31-2014 12:07 PM

Not a day one purchase, it drops in price fairly quickly here and still comes with the preorder DLC in the box.

Dukelorange 07-31-2014 01:07 PM

If they abandon the Yukes/AKI grappling system entirely, I won't buy the game. Every game I bought was based on that system. I was never a fan of the SvR series because I couldn't wrap my head around the control.

Evil Vito 07-31-2014 02:00 PM

I'll be buying this regardless because I have virtually no games for my PS4. Then next year will be my "skip year" if it seems like there are barely any improvements.

Cool King 07-31-2014 04:40 PM

I just want a game that feels different when I play it.

I want to feel like I'm playing a brand new game and not just the same game I've been playing for the past seven or eight years, but with an updated roster.

Kalyx triaD 07-31-2014 05:57 PM

Unless it has the IGNITE ENGINE.

Fuck all that, did they improve upon the meta-game? I want a deeper playing experience that I feel truly rewarded about upon mastery of it. There has to be a way to balance simplicity for beginners and a richer simulation experience for the mature and ripened player. Wrestling is all about the drama, psychology, and story being told and that is the perfect place to flesh out an awe-inspiring and all-encompassing gaming experience for those who want to do more than 1000 finishers, flips, and weapon moves. There is a reason Hogan/McMahon at WMXIX is a better match and more memorable than Hardy vs Hardy at WM25.

One of the things they've always overlooked was how WM doesn't feel like WM. No major build or anything. Just another ppv that might as well be In Your House or Over the Limit. Kinda the same issue the Madden franchise has or used to have (depending on who you ask) when it came to any regular season game vs the Super Bowl. I want a career mode that does what Steele talked about. I want replay value, damnit.

I've never gotten any long-term storylines in Universe mode, and they could easily scrap it all together. I just do exhibition storylines in my head since creating shit in Create Mode takes too fucking long and all the ones in Community Creations are either fuck-off hard or comedy ones. I remember spending hours on a comedy one about Michael Cole and then it wouldn't let me upload it over some stupid shit.

Frank Drebin 08-03-2014 10:30 PM

"I've just received word that this match is now a submission match!!"

Are you telling me that that on every show doesn't count as a long term story??

James Steele 08-03-2014 10:52 PM

I never even got that.

Evil Vito 08-03-2014 11:06 PM

I only seemed to ever get that cutscene when I was using a wrestler who had little to no useful fucking submissions. Awful.

James Steele 08-03-2014 11:14 PM

I got some comical cut scenes that didn't lead anywhere. I'm sure I have it documented in my old Universe Mode diary thread.

We have INFO!!! Not much, but something. And the first screenshot.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BuM1vYRCUAAee_J.jpg

Quote:

Year on year, Yuke's has consistently found ways to make their WWE games more dense and feature complete, and from the first details we've gotten on WWE 2K15, that trend is going to continue. Let’s take a broad overview of just what you can expect from this year's outing in the squared circle – both on last-gen and current gen – starting with the new story mode, 2K Showcase.

Last year, WWE 2K14 electrified with its sprawling campaign mode, 30 Years of Wrestlemania. 2K15 is looking to tell a more focused, up-close-and-personal story than the broad historic view offered in 2K14. 2K Showcase will be broken up into two episodes, each one focusing in tightly on an epic rivalry from the WWE’s past. Think of them as mini-documentaries of a sort. Could it be Rock vs Austin? Undertaker vs the DEMON Kane? 2K hasn't spilled the beans just yet, but rest assured we'll be the first to know, and when we do, so will you. If the excellent 30 Years of Wrestlemania was any indication, though, the authenticity of the presentation will make these rivalries a treat to play through.

In addition to reliving these golden WWE memories, you'll finally have a true, discreet career mode for your created wrestlers in MyCareer. This mode has been lifted from NBA 2K14 and adapted to the WWE environment. While I didn't think the mode had the right synergy with the NBA, the WWE seems like a logical place to apply it. Imagine replacing all those cheese-ball, amateur hour characters and cutscenes with authentically voiced and mo-capped WWE Superstars. You get the picture. Exact details of the mode are still forthcoming, but we do know that it will be on the current-gen version only. Sorry, 360/PS3 stalwarts.

No matter what version you play, though, you'll get to enjoy the fruits of Visual Concepts' involvement. Over 50 days worth of motion capture sessions went on at 2K's state-of-the-art mo-cap facility, where WWE Superstars spent hours getting their signature moves digitally recreated. All told, WWE 2K15 features five times (FIVE TIMES! FIVE TIMES!) the animation data of 2K14. Thankfully, just as much effort has gone into improving the way the game sounds, the color commentary in particular. Over four times as many lines were recorded this time around, which should go a long way towards spicing up what has consistently been one of the franchise's presentational low points.

So that's what you can expect in terms of new features and modes. As we get more face time with the game, we'll be diving in deeper on many of these additions, and of course, bringing you footage and detailed impressions of how things differ once you're actually in the ring. Be sure to head here regularly for a steady stream of new IGN First content on WWE 2K15 throughout the month.

Then he became regular DLC after a bit. I have a feeling this will happen with Sting too.

?

Thoroughly enjoying my XBone and still have the 360 hooked up as well. Only have a couple games for One, by choice, but there are a few titles I would like to pick up right now if it weren't for other factors.

This fall will be a great time to have next gen if you are in it for the games. If you are referring to wait until devs learn to fully utilize the systems, you will be waiting another year or two, at the very least. People tend to forget how prior generations were not "ZOMG" right out of the box at launch.

Am I right in thinking/assuming that the "Hulkamania" Edition will be pretty limited because of the canvas that's being included in the bundle?

The plaques on WWEShop that include a piece of canvas are always labelled as being limited, so I don't think this will be any different. It makes sense though, if you think about it.

The piece of canvas will have to be a decent size to make you want it, and you can only cut the canvas a certain amount of times before the pieces that are offered become too small and insignificant.

It's pretty much the reverse shot of the Cena image. Also much like the Cena image, the detail is a huge step up from what we saw in 2K14 on last-gen hardware. For good measure, we get one more of Orton being the arrogant show-off that he is:

Yup, The Viper is looking pretty good. It may be worth noting that these screens have been specifically marked "work in progress" by 2K, where the Cena shot was not. Comparing the two, you may notice that there is no audience of any kind behind Cena, but in the first Orton shot, there appears to be what I can only imagine is a placeholder audience behind him, which may be why the shots were labeled as such.

Either way, it's exciting to see WWE 2K15 getting the current-gen, Visual Concepts treatment. Hopefully it looks just as good in motion when I play it, which should be very soon. Be sure to check back on Monday and Tuesday for more on WWE 2K15.

Thank you... I was on a cell phone and I had too little time to elaborate...

I will wait for the next gen systems to have a bigger selection, be in enough homes to cause the price to drop tremendously, or until they stop making games for the current gen systems.

I will say this, Sony and Microsoft are very smart in putting extra content in the next gen systems.

Those screen shots look good, but to be honest, it doesn't really take a lot of work to be better than the last game's models.
