I think the new Nexus angle works. It fits CM Punk's character right from his very debut, when he tried to take over The New Breed. It goes through to the Straight-Edge Society and comes out where we are now. Also, it works in that the other guys are a bunch of rookies. Yeah, I'd like to see them get over, too, but they're not quite ready yet. Working with Punk is going to give them time on the road to get better, high profile roles to play, heel heat and all that "time for improvement" jazz. Michael McGillicutty is the only guy that I think would be better off on his own, and I feel that might even come in time when he develops his own personality and Punk doesn't like it.
The Nexus are being used as Punk's personal hit-squad, and that fuels the heat Punk gets, fuels the heat the Nexus guys get, and adds to whatever feud Punk is in, by making him seem far more dangerous.
And there's the pay-off where Nexus doesn't want to be used anymore, and they go into business for themselves (and perhaps even their own ways after that).
