It was definitely a foul. Even Phil Jackson admitted that Fisher bumped Barry. The problem is that Barry didn't jump into him to sell it and make it really obvious plus the refs don't want the outcome of the game to rely on their call. The Spurs aren't crying about it so everyone can just move on.

hmm, I guess we will find out who will face the Lakers in the finals tonight.

IC Champion 05-28-2008 04:22 PM

Did you guys only watch the last 20 seconds of the game? The first 47 minutes the calls all went the Spurs way, did no one see Phil Jackson losing his mind every 5 minutes?

SammyG 05-28-2008 04:56 PM

Fisher's shot hit the rim before it went off Horry's leg, we shoulda had a fresh 24 on the shotclock.

Lamar's goaltending was NOT goaltending.

IC Champion 05-28-2008 05:13 PM

How about the dozen fouls that weren't called.

RP 05-28-2008 06:29 PM

Spurs in 7

SammyG 05-28-2008 06:58 PM

Who ya gonna be pullin' for in the finals, RP?

RP 05-28-2008 07:49 PM

Spurs

IC Champion 05-28-2008 07:57 PM

LOL, only the Spurs are losing in game 5 of this series.

mrslackalack 05-28-2008 10:10 PM

In all levels of basketball (NBA, college, pro) I have seen that exact situation been called at the end or no called. It happened in the 2005 Elite 8 game between UK and Michigan St when UK's Patrick Sparks hit that 3 with the CRAZY roll to send it in OT and he was CLEARLY fouled but they didnt call it. Ironically earlier that seasonSparks got fouled with a second left in a close game on the road against Louisville while attempting a shot and they called it and it gave UK the victory. I seen it callled in a big high school game in my area too and it made the home crowd LIVID when it was called because it cost the home team the game. I am neutral in the series and would have called it a foul but understand the refs situation on not wanting to decide a key playoff game over a foul/no foul call.

Rodney Fuckin Stuckey

RGWhat316 05-28-2008 11:36 PM

This is a damn close one. Pistons can still win this thing!

RGWhat316 05-28-2008 11:44 PM

Dammit! One hell of a comeback, but just a little short. Pistons now have to win 2 straight.

SammyG 05-28-2008 11:59 PM

Ok then. Celtics-Lakers it is.

If anyone cares the NBA said they made a mistake and it should have been a foul on Fisher.

More importantly

NEW YORK - The NBA acknowledged Wednesday that a foul should have been called on the final possession of Game 4 in the Western Conference finals, which would have given the San Antonio Spurs a chance to even the series.

Trailing 93-91 on Tuesday night, the Spurs inbounded the ball with 2.1 seconds left to Brent Barry, who was bumped by Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher on the floor. No foul was called, and Barry missed badly on a 3-pointer before time expired.

Spurs players and coach Gregg Popovich said a foul should not have been called, but the NBA disagreed with them after reviewing the play.

"With the benefit of instant replay, it appears a foul should have been called," NBA spokesman Tim Frank said.

Had that happened, Barry would have gone to the line for two free throws and a chance to tie the game. Instead, the defending champion Spurs trail the series 3-1 and face elimination Thursday in Los Angeles.

lol always controversy between these two teams

Loose Cannon 05-29-2008 11:47 AM

wasn't Barry behind the line? wouldn't it had been 3 free throws?

Ninti the Mad 05-29-2008 12:21 PM

I dunno but I hate when these two teams play, the Spurs will get the calls but then when it comes down to winning the game, all of a sudden, the refs are blind and dont call anything.

Whatever though. I am used to how they treat the 'small market' Spurs.

SammyG 05-29-2008 12:33 PM

Aw... boo hoo hoo. Meh. Yeah I would be pissed if I was a Spurs fan, but you can't expect that foul to be called in that game in that situation, seriously. Barry shoulda just stayed put, and he woulda got the foul. He moved away from it and threw up a wild shot.

Also, LC, It woulda been on the ground, so it woulda been 2 free throws.

He wasn't in the act of shooting though so it would have been 2.

Actually yes you can. The same exact foul was called in the Knicks vs Pacers playoff series in 99.

Accept that was a pretty horrible foul call and continuation call, but hey as long as the Knicks get to the finals i guess.

Chris Childs and Latrell Sprewell

IC Champion 05-29-2008 08:18 PM

Gonna be a good game tonight boys.

SammyG 05-29-2008 08:30 PM

Yeah, skipping my soccer game for this one.

IC Champion 05-29-2008 09:12 PM

I'm tired of the conspiracy theorists going on about LA and shit.

mrslackalack 05-29-2008 10:06 PM

Good game thus far

IC Champion 05-29-2008 10:17 PM

Lakers turned that shit around quick.

SammyG 05-29-2008 10:21 PM

Goddddd, that 17 point lead had me scared. We aren't hitting shots, not being aggressive, and S.A. is hitting everything. Mad stoked we got it to 6 though, we gotta keep this up now. Come on Kobe, you can't let these guys stay alive.

What the hell? I didnt even click post twice...odd...oh well, deserves to be said again

SammyG 05-30-2008 12:49 AM

Oh my God. Teared up there at the end. We play for CHAMPIONSHIPS, though. And that's what we're going for now baby. It was amazing watching this, though.

lol @ fans booing when West asked them to give the Spurs a hand.

Jura 05-30-2008 06:49 AM

I had a feeling they were going to win when they said Phil Jackson was calm in the first half and not even playing the starters that much yet. The old Spurs would get tired and when the starters come back, boom!

Jura 05-30-2008 06:49 AM

wtf I only clicked once.

Loose Cannon 05-30-2008 03:32 PM

wow, I just found out that sports teams play for championships. really?

SammyG 05-30-2008 03:55 PM

What I'm saying is that other teams put up banners for winning their division or their conference. We don't.
