#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 08:32 PM

So who's a relatively cheap "name"...

That I could get to come out for the club I work at. We're going to be showing Survivor Series and I wanna get a wrestler or two to come out. I've already got Tito Santana and Jake Roberts interested. Talked to Tito on the phone and Jake via his Facebook.

I'm thinking Sunny's depressed ass, maybe Road Warrior Animal, Koko B. Ware...

Obviously it would have to be someone not working for WWE or TNA and someone that people would give people incentive to come out for in the price range of about $3,000 (though significantly less would be stellar). So I turn to you for your opinions, TPWW. I'm trying not to work through agencies since it would cost more. I figured someone might have some leads though. It's worth a shot.

Nicky Fives 10-12-2011 09:01 PM

I guarantee Jake will not be sober for the event.....

Skippord 10-12-2011 09:07 PM

Jerry Sags

#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 09:17 PM

I wasn't counting on a sober Jake. I was counting on "If this is the last night Jake is alive, it would get some publicity."

Not to be a dick. But come on... the man has been on the brink of death for YEARS.

#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 09:18 PM

Also, Tito Santana wants a flight back that night since he teaches Spanish at a high school and doesn't want to take a sick day. lol

#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 09:19 PM

I wonder if I should be making this public.

Xero 10-12-2011 09:57 PM

Greg Valentine does backyard shows for blow, so he'd probably come to your event.

Ron Simmons might be cheap. Saw him advertised for a flea market a bit ago.

#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 10:02 PM

When you say blow... do you mean BLOW?

#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 10:05 PM

Also, I know Greg Valentine has a habit of being really unreliable and a douche. Hmm

Darkone 10-12-2011 10:10 PM

The best way to "get" cheap names is to offer them blow and rats.

#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 10:13 PM

I should clarify "cheap". There's a little more budget than blow and rats quality.

Next Big Thing 10-12-2011 10:24 PM

Sunny and Jake = disaster if they even show up.

#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 10:28 PM

Got an e-mail from someone who handles bookings for some wrestlers saying Paul Bearer and Chyna were unavailable but Maria Kenellis would be a possibility. Sorry for any typos in this post. I'm trying to see the screen over my giant erection.

I really wanted to get Sunny. Then she no showed an event and got all depressed. Damn.

Seth82 10-12-2011 10:36 PM

Ricky Morton is probably cheap

same for Dennis "I'm Not Booked" Stamp

#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 10:39 PM

If I booked Dennis Stamp, he would be booked. And if he is booked, he is no longer not booked. And if he is not not booked, then he's just plain old booked Dennis Stamp. Thus I could never book Dennis Stamp.

And I don't think Ricky Morton would draw for his asking price. I'm definitely leaning towards Tito Santana and possibly Jake Roberts. I feel like I can do better though.

Ruien 10-12-2011 11:16 PM

These people really work for this cheap?

I would go with Jake, even if he is fucked up who cares? It is at a club, not a wrestling match.

#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 11:32 PM

They're all a little more expensive than I expected actually. Which is why I'm trying to find some hot tips on who I should try to get and for how much.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-12-2011 11:36 PM

Savio Vega if he's still in the US

or Dennis Knight

She did the same thing with an event I went to last year. Her reason was that her boyfriend was sick. :-\

But why not try Tatanka?

He appeared at an event where I live about two months ago so he's probably cheap. You can also try Virgil as he also appeared at the same event.

They both appeared with Ted DiBiase but all "Million Dollar Man" jokes aside, I think DiBiase will actually cost a good amount of money, but you can always try I guess, but I think you'll have a better chance of getting Tatanka and Virgil.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-12-2011 11:47 PM

Yo whats Barry Darsow doing with his life these days? He's probably broke as shit.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-12-2011 11:47 PM

Or even better get the guy who was Ax. He's even less famous than Smash.

#1-norm-fan 10-12-2011 11:55 PM

Ted DiBiase might be too much. Also, since it's Survivor Series and he works for WWE I assume he'll be at the show. The guy i contacted about some wrestlers including Tito Santana also mentioned Virgil. And The New Age Outlaws. Oddly he didn't say they would be out of my price range. Hmm.

Barry Darsow and Ax probably wouldn't be good enough draws to warrant it. Not more so than Tito at least.

Hanso Amore 10-12-2011 11:57 PM

Wresting Superstar Virgil

Get Vito or Scotty Too Hotty

Lol this is amazing.

Hanso Amore 10-12-2011 11:58 PM

Outlaws would actually be tight. Imagine Road Dogg kicking the door in with the

OH YOU DIDNT KNOW

Fuck Yeah.

What club? PM me, Ill keep the secret. I still have a Top Secret government Clearance for fucks sake!

Supreme Olajuwon 10-13-2011 12:03 AM

Get Rick Martel to come but don't tell Tito. Have them fight at your club.

I literally ran through that exact idea with a friend this morning once Tito said he'd do it. lol

Do they have a real life feud I'm not aware of?

Aguakate 10-13-2011 12:18 AM

You can probably get X-Pac.

I think I can say it. It's Pepperbelly's Comedy Club in Fairfield, CA.

And yes, if we do get the Outlaws, Road Dogg is entering with an "OH YOU DIDN'T KNOW..." and doing the Outlaws introduction on stage.

X-Pac is contracted by WWE? How?

#1-norm-fan 10-13-2011 12:24 AM

I don't remember his exact title. He signed a contract a few months ago though.

No, it was just a running bit they had after their team broke up where they wouldn't be in the ring at the same time for while, but as soon as they were, they'd start brawling immediately.

St. Jimmy 10-13-2011 12:36 AM

no blow? no show.

Aguakate 10-13-2011 12:36 AM

Have the Iron Sheik over.

FOR THE LULZ.

Skippord 10-13-2011 12:52 AM

Sandman

weather vane 10-13-2011 12:53 AM

Iron Sheik for sure or Honky Tonk Man and Beefcake work pretty cheap.

Maybe try for Piper, Million Dollar Man, Sid, Terry Funk, Raven, Dreamer...

Those are some guys that I have seen out and about that work for cheap.

nah AX aka Bill Eadie had a pretty lengthy career before Demolition.

was best known before Demolition as The Masked Superstar

worked NWA and AWA

Seth82 10-13-2011 01:01 AM

Tommy Rich is probably cheap

weather vane 10-13-2011 01:03 AM

Barry Darsow owns a custom construction helmet company. I think both him and Eadie do pretty well.

Captain of Fun 10-13-2011 01:32 AM

Sunny.

Take advantage of her emotional state, and bag yourself a diva.

Sixx 10-13-2011 01:35 AM

Jake will come if you offer him free drinks.

Sixx 10-13-2011 01:35 AM

Then again $3,000 might be a better deal.

Vastardikai 10-13-2011 05:25 AM

You probably wouldn't want to, but I'm sure you can book Buff Bagwell on the cheap.

Skippord 10-13-2011 05:31 AM

DDP would probably do it if you told him it was a public speaking gig

If I bang a diva, what do I get TPWW-wise?

Skippord 10-13-2011 06:19 AM

depends on the diva

Shadrick 10-13-2011 07:20 AM

If you bang Layla, many kudos and praise.

Sunny, kudos, but it was kinda like a "who hasn't?" type kudos.

If you bang Nicole Bass......christ.

edyhdrawde 10-13-2011 10:29 AM

Why not check some of the "indy" shows around CA. I think Rikishi wrestles out there for that silly area code fed. I'm sure there are a few other "big" names in the idies out that way.

You need to find out who lives around you. I live in the Washington DC area, and there's a few guys around here that I've seen at just about any signing event in the area. I think Honky Tonk Man would work a barmitzvah if you paid him in cake.

#1-norm-fan 10-13-2011 01:32 PM

I never thought of checking local Indy feds and seeing who lives in Northern California. Not only would they be more likely to come out for less, it would save us money on airfare and a hotel. My original idea was to make a wrestling weekend and try to get Roddy Piper do stand-up on Saturday and "host" Survivor Series the next night. Sell tickets for both nights and such. But Saturday was already booked.

Swiss Ultimate 10-13-2011 03:10 PM

Gertner 10-13-2011 03:28 PM

Chris Benoit. You'd make a killing!

"rimshot"

Shisen Kopf 10-14-2011 07:18 AM

Go really low budget and just get a homeless guys to show up as Doink. Should only cost $20 and the price for the suit.

#1-norm-fan 10-20-2011 04:54 PM

So I've narrowed it down to basically Sunny and Tito Santana (After Sunny's manager convinced me her no-shows were an isolated incident, the bookers knew about it and were friends of hers and she wasn't actually even being paid for the gig, just selling autographs.) OR Jake Roberts. I think Jake is a more mainstream name and I don't even know if Sunny or Tito would draw at all anymore. My years of wrestling nerd-ism has skewed my thoughts on the matter.

Now, I figure there's gonna be the typical wrestling fans who come just because it's Survivor Series. Rock and Cena should draw some attitude era fans and a little mainstream crowd. So I guess I need to draw in some kind of old school crowd. Basically I need to sell about 250-300 tickets to have it be successful. Hopefully I can get people from all around Northern California to come out and pay $15 to see the show and have a meet and greet of some sort afterwards.

So what do you guys think people would more likely to pay to see? "WWE Survivor Series: Hosted by Sunny and Tito Santana" or "WWE Survivor Series: Hosted by Jake 'The Snake' Roberts"?

bigslimjj 10-20-2011 05:00 PM

Blackman..Steve Blackman. But not to appear, just to randomly go in the crowd and kick someones ass.

you'd be surprised, you said you had around $3k. If their fees are higher than that, it's not by much. Then again, that's dollar, maybe HBK and Nash are a bit of a stretch

#1-norm-fan 10-20-2011 05:54 PM

Well, Flair works for TNA currently so that's out of the question. I guess I could find out about Bret but between his charge, hotel and airfare, I doubt it.

It's a WWE event though. And when I was asking about people, I forgot Al Snow still worked for TNA and the guy who books him specifically said he wouldn't be able to do it as he's under contract with TNA.

Um, I may be stating the obvious, but you DO have a license to show a PPV at a public gathering, right?

IIRC, bars and restaraunts have to make special arrangements to show them because WWE could make lots more money if these people stayed home and ordered or somesuch.
