Daniel Bryan has been extremely lucky. Before he won the US Title I really didn't have any hope for him, but there was obviously someone backstage rooting for the guy who gave him that chance. As soon as he won and showed what he could do with guys like the Miz and Ziggler, people started to notice. He was lucky to have a decent feud with the Big Show, who was on top form as a monster face at the time. He was then lucky to be paired with the up-and-coming AJ. He was lucky his catchphrase caught on, and he's now lucky to be in this top spot with Kane.

I'm not degrading his abilities or character, he's worked hard and improved his mic skills and charisma to levels I didn't think were possible; but in terms of using him as a benchmark for what other indy guys can do, I don't think it's comparable. Bryan has had a tonne of breaks in his favour.

Generico doesn't have the look or the fanbase to the extent Punk or Bryan did. Let's not forget that those two were "the guys" in the independents along with Joe for years. Generico is a top guy, but he's not "the guy" - he doesn't have the same level of passionate support from the smark world or IWC. He's immensely talented and entertaining, but you won't get anywhere on those things alone.

WWE will repackage him and he'll prob end up be a comedy character and then get future endeavored in a year. Best case scenario is that he ends up like the eternal buffoon Santino Marella and has a long run being a retard.

He does have quite the following actually. And maybe he won't be as big as someone like Punk or Bryan, but he's already got a bigger following than people like Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose had before coming into the WWE, and they seem to be doing fine and are being pushed. You're right, Generico's following isn't as big as Bryan or Punk, which means he might not have as much success as them, but to say he doesn't fit on or have a place in WWE is ridiculous, his character is made to entertain and have kids get behind him.

Comparing him to Rollins and Ambrose who have been called up as part of one of the biggest angles of last year, against the biggest rising name in the company and as part of the hottest stable is also a fallacy of logic. I guarantee Generico won't be given the same opportunity as those two.

I don't think it's about WWE letting him keep it. It's about Generico signing the name over to WWE. Which I don't think he's dumb enough not to do, this is as big as he could possibly get, this is the most he could get out of the character. And the character and how he plays the character is the reason WWE is signing him.

I have never seen a match so I'm kind of disappointed that nobody has posted any. Off to YouTube to form my own opinion.

But like you said, you didn't think Daniel Bryan would get the opportunities they got. No one thought Ambrose or Rollins would be getting used but look where they are now. If Generico isn't gonna be given those same opportunities then why are they bothering signing him in the first place? He's gonna pay his dues in NXT and then probably find his way on Saturday Morning Slam to entertain the kids.

If they're gonna go with similarities to his indy character I see him being paired up with Brodus Clay similar to how he was with Kevin Steen in the indies. Then when they wanna turn Clay into the monster heel he can be you have it set up already by having him turn on the loveable small babyface.

Again, not main event scene stuff, but that most likely isn't why they're bringing him in.

Sami Callihan is some small emo faggot who has really good rasslin' matches. Him and Dean Ambrose are about the only 2 good things CZW has ever produced.

This guy sucks? While I haven't watched a full match yet I would say that I'm impressed with his move set.

He is using some old standards, modifying classic moves to fit his style and most importantly he has some pretty original and innovative stuff.

Moving on to watching a full match and will post it later with thoughts.

Necro is the most talented death match wrestler they've ever produced, but he had as much glory as he's gonna get. He was an alright brawler, but that's about all he could do when you didn't give him weapons.

Generico on the other hand, can be a great asset. he seems to be in slow mo in the air which is great. He may not be "THE" guy, but not every single wrestler can be I guess. I am all for roster diversification, it keeps things fresh.

After watching a match a few quick notes on El Generico:

For a Lucha sytle wrestler he really isn't all that fluid.
If he does make it to the main roster in WWE he needs a full body suit similar to what MVP wore to cover up the fact that he has the body of a wet noodle.

I think El Generico would fit nicely with "The Shield". He'd be a nice weapon for them to have.

I'll think he'll make a great tag team partner but as a WWE main event superstar I'll have to wait to pass any sort of judgement.

I guess Mr. Non-Brand can be the human lawn dart they fling at opponents and otherwise bump around like a ragdoll to make the Shield's opponents look better until either of the other three tags in, much like Spike Dudley did with Bubba and D-Von.
