'Nuff said. No excuses left, I got well over 2/3rds of my steam account untouched still but I know I will still bend over again :'( |

Day 11 (June 29, 2014) Big ol' encore sale, plus yesterday's main deals. Too big to list out so here are some images instead: http://i59.tinypic.com/2d1pa2h.png http://i62.tinypic.com/2jd2o92.png http://i58.tinypic.com/qnsric.png If any game is part of a franchise or has DLC, they are pretty much always discounted too. As always, be sure to check this: http://steamdb.info/sales/ |
|
To be honest I think I've bought everything I could possibly ever need from past sales. But we'll see.
|
looks like I am taking more piss breaks at work to update and expand my library. Hoping patience paid off for the Skyrim DLC
|
there's only a handful of games i'd fancy tbh, but that's what I always say.

Unless there are RTS style games, I wont be interested. Was thinking of buying FFVII but not sure what the controls will be like. That's pretty much the make it or break it factor for me with PC games.
|
FFVII on PC was originally done entirely with the Numpad, and was totally decent. Not sure if they added support for other controls.
|
In the meantime, use code "GOONCAVE" on Amazon for any video game sales for an additional 15% off. I got AOE 2:HD for $3.50.
|
Day 1 up, sales from July 11-22.

thx for the update man, phone is weak signal in office and steam is blocked at work. Is that every 10 hours price slashing going on and voting between 3 games to determine the next sale?
damn my wallet to hell this summer |
I would recommend Antichamber to anyone who likes puzzle games. One of my favorite recent games.

good stuff man, appreciate it. been fiending for the sale to begin real bad. Enjoyed last year's plundering

Oh god I knew it- here are the "lesser" games on as much as 90% discount, I have spent over 20 bucks already. |
skyrim dlc is going to be mine today
|
I would wait, as I am currently doing so too. A flash deal is not usually their best.
|
yeah I see some others waiting. I've waited this long. I can stand a few more days

Is Ridge Racer: Unbounded any good? At that price I'm kinda tempted. It was supposed to have a lot in common with the Burnout series, IIRC.
|
I haven't tried Ridge Racer, but if it's anything like Burnout, it'd be worth a try.
I'm waiting for Saints Row The Third: Total Package to hit a flash spot. It is at 50% with a price of 14.99 USD at the moment and felt I should finally play one of those, holding out for 75%. |
$1.24 for Dungeons of Dredmor
$4.99 for Avernum: Escape form the Pit Some pretty good deals right there. |

Dishonored was destroyed by Borderlands 2...I was looking forward to trying Dishonored, perhaps another round
|
Ya, I need the season pass for Borderlands 2 but I will wait for an inevitable 75% off.

I little late in the day, but if anyone hasn't gotten Miami Hotline then GET IT!

|
Now that the season is over Defiance the game is 66% off. Not sure if the game will have a 2nd season or if the game will just update for the next one.

It looks like the kind of game were the ultra-violence is all it has. All and any promotion or discussion I've seen about it has been about nothing other than that. No mention of great humour or creative levels or features.
|
Good stealth gameplay and amazing soundtrack

I have the game from a bundle (I think a Humble Bundle), so I'ma check it out at some point. Not actually losing anything for trying it since I already have it. Hopefully Roxer is correct and it has some positives. |
Looking at the Rocksmith DLC list, I wish Steam better organised this shit.
|
Bought Universe Sandbox for £2 because it sounded like you could do stuff like see what happens if a comet hit Earth. Turns out NOTHING happens. No sound, either.

It has a cooky kind of humor. The levels are based on killing people but you have to kill them strategically. You have to plan each kill one by one so as to not be seen because if you are you almost always die. The game is very challenging once you get past the first few levels and very enjoyable for that. I'd say it's very much a puzzle game. |

fuck. Steam wiped out my cart while I was going through that big list of discounts.
|
Just Cause 2 for $2.99 is a steal.
|
Yeah, been meaning to get it for ages. Now I have no excuse.
|
Sleeping Dogs and Super Meat Boy on sale right now, both are great games.
|
Magicka is two-fiddy, too.
|
Added some of TPWW on steam, what's your id KK?
|
Bought Soul Reaver and Another World. Had to agree to some EULA for Soul Reaver and had a funny half ticking noise in my headphones since installing it. Dunno if it's a coincidence or if the EULA installed something other than the game. It would help if the EULA wasn't the length of a tv script, then I could actually read them.
|
What's your SteamID, Drakul?
|
I've still not bought a lot, few smaller titles but limited spending so far.
And for some reason a gift of Civilization IV has appeared in my Steam inventory. No clue where it came from or how it got there, especially as it's a game I already own. |

Also I guess this means I have a copy of Civ 4 to give away. Takers?
|
Right here. What do I give you for it?
|
Drakul, who is that in your avatar anyway?
|
Absolutely nothing, I've got no need for it.
Can't seem to find you on Steam though, since I can't gift it without adding you as a friend first. |

Still doesn't find you for some reason.

I can look for you. Whats your steam name?
|
Extreme Angle found me.
Added The Destroyer. |
Yeah that seemed to work. Gifted.
|
Woohoo just sold my first "trading card" on the marketplace. I can't believe people buy this shit.
|
I'm waiting for the summer thing to be over so people can't get the Summer card. Then, someone who NEEDS all the cards will buy it for £1 or something instead of the 25p I'd get for it now.
|
I've gotten Borderlands 2, Counter Strike Complete, Bit.Rip Runner 2, FTL, and Fez so far. :D

Just curious.

I seriously doubt how feasible that is, but it's something, I guess. |
Overall though, I think the cards are a great idea. They're getting me to try games that have been sitting unplayed in my Steam library for years. And, whenever a card is sold in the community market, 10% of the sale goes to the game developer, so it's another way to support indie developers.
|
So the cards are basically what you get for doing the achievments? What if you already did the achievements before cards existed? Do they retro? Or do you have to play it again?
|

It will probably prod me into a few more games played, since a couple of the listed games are ones I got as part of a bundle and never tried. Right now, I've been too busy playing Magic to get my cards back after the cloud fucked me and playing with my new Rocksmith tracks. |
Quote:
Basically, each game that supports cards has a set of cards, and the number depends on the game (I think it's up to the game developer). 8 is the most common size, but some games like Super Meat Boy and Dungeons of Dredmor have 5, while Brutal Legend has 15. Regardless, when you buy a game, you're granted a number of "card drops" equal to half the size of the card set, rounded up (so, you'd get 3 card drops for Super Meat Boy and 8 for Brutal Legend). When you play a game, you periodically get a card (I think it's every 20-30 minutes, or something like that), until you're out of card drops. Once you're out of card drops, you become eligible to receive booster packs for that game. Steam will occasionally randomly give out booster packs of cards to people who are eligible, and who have "used Steam" within the past week. When you have all the cards in a set, you can expend them to craft a badge, which you can display on your Steam profile. This also gets you 100 XP. Each badge can be upgraded by expending the same set of cards again, and doing so will change the name and image of the badge, as well as get you another 100 XP, to a maximum of 500 XP per badge. What it means to "use Steam", and the drop rate of the booster packs are both unknown right now. However, we do know (because Steam told us) is that every 10 levels you gain, the rate at which you get booster packs increases by 20%. tl;dr: No, it's based on playtime, but it's also not retroactive. |
Sold 3 cards so far, netted a buck. Not too much, but it got me a DLC for free so I am not complaining. I am also only selling duplicate cards I got, so once I get that Summer badge I will sell it later on.

Jumped on Tomb Raider and The Walking Dead and Batman: Arkham City
Feel like I could make some pretty riveting fuckin' RPGs with that RPG Maker game...might wait for 75% chance though |
Bought Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum but the actual game files refer to it as gold rather than platinum.
|
Gotten 3 cards from the sale so far, and already I have a duplicate one.
System Shock 2 is the current community choice deal. Meant to be a great game, so could be worth getting at the dirt cheap price it's up for. |
Finally picked up System Shock 2
|
think i'm going to stock up on some of the big sales to trade for other stuff in a few weeks using http://www.steamtrades.com/
|
Nothing really jumping out at me and saying "buy me".
Although I've had my eye on that Stardrive game..... |
System Shock 2 is one of the best games I've ever played, and I only got to it a few years ago. I think it has aged fairly well. I enjoyed System Shock 1 as well, but I wouldn't recommend it, as the control scheme is pretty bad (pretty impressive game for 1994 though).

Ya, that's usually why I steer clear from pure sandbox games like RPG maker.

Yeah, I have two duplicates already. |
Sell your duplicates for ~25 cents each on the marketplace. The way I see it is that it is free money.

The stuff I've read seems to imply no, but I find a lot of the Steam literature to be counter-intuitive. |
I've not actually sold any cards because I only have one but, from what I saw, it looked like I could set a price and put it on some kind of eBay for Steam cards.
So I'm guessing you can sell to whoever is buying. Not sure if trading is different but I'd not imagine so. |
You can sell and then buy from the marketplace. I was more curious about a direct system, but that'll do.
|
Ok. I know nothing about that.
I wonder if I could sell a card for something like £40 and someone will actually buy it. There must be someone who would fall for that, right? |
Do iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
|
Shiny cards sell for like a buck more...
I collected all of the binding of isaac ones 5 times, crafted the summer badge once, now i'm keeping my spairs. I also bought McPixel for like 80p, played it and got all its cards "9" then sold them for like 17p each, profit! |
Oh dear Lord, there's shinies?
|
Quote:
You can buy & sell on the Steam marketplace with anyone. However, keep in mind that when you sell something, you only get 85% of the sale price. 10% goes to the game developer and 5% goes to Steam. Maybe we should have a thread for trading Steam cards? |
Quote:
I don't know if foil cards have the same drop rate for playing and for booster packs. Also, 28 of our 72 cards are Summer Getaway cards, and none are foil. It's possible that they may have a different drop rate, since they're a limited-time thing. |
