The new "Iceman Orton".

Yay or Nay?

CSL 06-06-2007 03:36 AM

Well it's been done before and it'll be done again but it's not completely terrible.

Vastardikai 06-06-2007 03:37 AM

If it gets him over, I'm all for it.

If it doesn't, release him and cut your losses.

Then again, I'm biased because I hate the son of a bitch.

Lara Emily 06-06-2007 04:17 AM

It's not bad though his concussion shots looks pretty meh.

chrisat928 06-06-2007 04:19 AM

I don't know man, but the leveled DDT is awesome.

Mr. Nerfect 06-06-2007 05:16 AM

It's an improvement from his "Edge's bitch" character. It needs to lead to a program with someone, though. Personally, I think they should strike while the iron is...well, not yet cold, and have Orton challenge Cena for the WWE Championship. It would be an improvement over Khali and Umaga, and the marks will freak out because Orton is on a roll.

ttetf 06-06-2007 08:22 AM

At least it seems they're finally letting him fight for the name "legend killer". Up until now he's only challenged legends and then gotten his ass handed to him by all of them. I like it. Maybe next Shane will come to him and ask him to kick Vince in the head to snap him out of the funk he's been in...

Yeah, now he can become Cena's bitch.

Nah, too many people have that gimmick already.

If those punches cause concussions, the Go To Sleep should be putting people in comas

Arnold HamNegger 06-06-2007 11:19 AM

Well, he's only being developed to feed to HHH (or Cena), so it really doesn't matter. Even if he becomes an awesome heel character, it will stop the second he steps in the ring with HHH.

That's one of the things I hate, the heels are only developed SOLEY for the purpose of making the face look better (usually Cena) when they are eventually jobbed to them. There's no longevity with any of them, except for maybe Edge...and even then, he was made to be Cena's bitch most of the time...if not ALL of the time.

That is Pro Wrestling 101. Heels are designed to eventually put over the face, but heels shouldn't be bitched out to the babyfaces.

IC Champion 06-06-2007 11:43 AM

I dont like it, I mean, its nothing new, and he isnt tryin to be creative with it himself, it reminds of HHH around 2000, not to mention I'm finding Orton to be very boring in the ring, and in general. The only way this could be good, is if it led to Orton Vs Edge.

James Steele 06-06-2007 12:14 PM

The only thing Randy Orton has ever had was "the look", his family, and people carrying him.

BigDaddyCool 06-06-2007 12:49 PM

Agreed with JamesSteele

No, I was agreeing with the other thing he said about Orton being carried and his family. He barely has the look. He is too tall and skinny.

Theo Dious 06-06-2007 12:56 PM

Well I agree with that too.

Theo Dious 06-06-2007 12:57 PM

Any honest person will admit that HHH would have been champion without Stephanie. Orton would never have been anybody without his daddy.

BigDaddyCool 06-06-2007 01:04 PM

HHH was champion without Stephanie. He remain champion after he started banging her.

Sure, because he made his way into the family not through Steph, but through Shawn.

I get that, but it's the complete bitching out that I have a problem with. How do you expect the fans to get into characters and story lines when you already know the predictable outcome? I'd just love to see a solid heel get the upper hand on Cena for once...and KEEP the upper hand for a while.

Kane Knight 06-06-2007 02:17 PM

And if the bad guys don't win the big match sometimes, there's no real significance.

Arnold HamNegger 06-06-2007 02:25 PM

I'd like to see Booker T come back from his injury to RAW as a heel badass (- the "King Booker" gimmick) and have a run for a while with the belt.

Other than maybe Orton, there's nobody on the RAW roster IMO who can step into the heel role and be a strong contender/believable champion.

Anybody Thrilla 06-06-2007 02:28 PM

I think he's one of the most entertaining things on Raw right now, but whaaaaaaaateverrrrrrrrrr.....

Yeah, that's like saying he's a gold medalist in the special olympics.

Anybody Thrilla 06-06-2007 02:48 PM

I don't see a problem with supporting the special olympics. DO YOU???

The chicks aren't that hot, but their mouths come pre-lubed. :y:

Kane Knight 06-06-2007 03:01 PM

Yes. But I'm anti-cripple, retard, and negro.

Anybody Thrilla 06-06-2007 03:07 PM

You leave Zach Gowan, Eugene, and John Cena out of this.

Kane Knight 06-06-2007 03:13 PM

Iceman orton?....he gets knocked out in one punch now?

Only if it is from Montel "Rampage" Porter.

James Steele 06-06-2007 05:18 PM

I was leaning toward Randy "The Boredom-Induced Coma" Orton.

James Steele 06-06-2007 05:19 PM

I think WWE should make it easy on Randy and just let him give people concussions through VICIOUS HEADLOCKS!

Orton has yet to interest me since leaving Edge, or has yet to enterain me in the ring in about a year.

Mooияakeя™ 06-06-2007 05:39 PM

The strange way he looks at people ("He's like quizzing him with his eyes" as JR puts it), is kinda weird. Like makes him look unstable.

Flair put the beat down on him for 3 minutes... ok, chopped him a few times, and then a quick 5 seconds later he's slapping the RKO on him.... so nothing's changed, he still don't sell.

I dunno what I'm watching RAW for lately. I think I'd do better watching re-runs of Dallas.

The Optimist 06-06-2007 11:01 PM

It's about two and a half years too late to give him a big heel push.

The One 06-06-2007 11:11 PM

Orton is the way of the future! The best OVW guy to ever come up to WWE.

Bull Horn Mike 06-06-2007 11:17 PM

Lesnar

People that are put over in wrestling has 20% to do with how good you are and how hard you work, and 80% to do with who you're friends how you look, and tall you are and dumb luck...

The Rock = Hand picked as a world champion before he entered the WWF.
Steve Austin = Had a good relationship with Bret Hart who got him over.
Triple H = Was friends with Vince's boy.
The Big Show = Was 7 feet tall
Andre the Giant = Was 7 feet tall
Randy Orton = Attractive and son of Bob Orton
Bobby Lashley = Lots of muscels and was in the military
Batista = Has lots of muscles and Triple H had his back
Jeff Jarrett = Father was Jerry Jarrett
The Undertaker = Given a killer gimmick

Am I saying none of the above people worked their asses off? No. Most of the people I mentioned are actually quite talented in one way or another, but if it weren't for some luck some friends, or just looking the part they'd be Val Venis, Stevie Richards, Al Snow, Shannon Moore, Funaki William Regal, Nick Dinsmore, Super Crazy, Chavo Guerrero to name a few. All the guys I just mentioned are great talent and great workers and most of them work really hard for the buisness but...

Val Venis = Doesn't play politics
Stevie Richards = Got stuck in a lacky role and never got out
Al Snow = Was turned into a joke
Shannon Moore = Too small
Funaki = Asian
William Regal = British and has an "un-orthodox style"
Nick Dinsmore = Given a retarded gimmick
Super Crazy = Mexican
Chavo Guerreo = Not Eddie Guerrero

Sure most of those people above had their bit of fame and time in the spot light but none were ever in a world title match to my recollection, and if they were I'm sure it wasn't a serious feud leading up to it. If you were to foget the years of sub-par booking for all of those people and repackage them in main event gimmicks within a few weeks you really wouldn't tell the diffrence between them and the main eventers I mentioned in my first list.

What my main point is, you cannot fault guys for who they are. Saying Randy Orton only got a push because his last name is Orton, is like saying Angle only got pushed because he has a Gold Medal, you have to work with who you are.

It's like the guy at the bar talking about an ugly rockstar like Joey Ramone getting laid saying "He's only getting laid because he has money." Meanwhile the same guy trys to impress girls with his nice expensive watch and nice car.

If it weren't for Randy Orton being Randy Orton then he wouldn't be Randy Orton. That's essentially what you're saying when you say he's only over because of his name.

Skippord 06-07-2007 03:33 AM

lol Funaki = Asian
