Ted DiBiase
I am yet to see RAW, but I read amazing things about Ted DiBiase's "match" with Randy Orton this week. Basically Orton and DiBiase had a match, and Orton wanted DiBiase to fall into line and not fight back, and take a beating like a man for pinning him the previous week.
From the sounds of it, the fans REALLY wanted to see DiBiase snap and kick the shit out of Orton. Of course, Teddy didn't, but it sounds like a brilliant way to get the fans into DiBiase as a face. Instead of just "turning him," they are giving the fans reasons to care about him, and really demand he turn face. This reminds me of what I wish they had done in 2004 with Randy Orton, when the turmoil with Evolution came up. Orton was getting a lot of crowd support, and turning him face was not a bad move, per se, but when they pulled the trigger as predictably as they did, it didn't take long for Orton to run out of steam as a face (it happened almost instantly). I'll see RAW tomorrow, but there wasn't too much discussion about this in the RAW thread. What did everyone think of this? Do you think this storyline could turn DiBiase into a big face for the company? |
Noid, that crowd wanted Dibiase to litterally fuck Orton up. They were so behind him it wasn't even funny. At least until the finish anyways. I'm not sure if the pop was more so for Dibiase himself or for the fact they wanted to see Orton get his ass beat.
|
I honestly think so. The fact that they are building this turn slowly proves they are going to invest in Ted and I believe he will be champion in 2010

The only thing that bothered me about it was that I couldn't see how they could suddenly have DiBiase go from heel lackey to being heroic face without it seeming so arbitrary. The story is there now, though. DiBiase has proven that he can beat guys like John Cena, Batista, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton (having wins over all of them at some point in his career), but he's choosing not to for now, and that is setting up the point where he does decide to go into business for himself -- and I think the fans will buy it hook, line and sinker. For some reason, I'm feeling Ted DiBiase as a possible 2010 Money in the Bank winner, and him then coming out one night after Orton is down, after a hellacious contest. DiBiase, holding his briefcase, looks at Orton smiling -- and Orton knows exactly what it is up. New WWE Champion, Ted DiBiase. But that is just one of the many possible ways they could do it. |
So you think that Dibiase will help Cena maybe? He doesn't have a match at Bragging Rights.

I'd rather see Ted DiBiase come out during the match, grab a steel chair, consider hitting Orton, but then blast John Cena with it. DiBiase seals Cena's fate, and proves that he is absolutely an integral part of Orton's success as WWE Champion. This can continue building a love-hate relationship with the fans, as they will want him to turn on Orton, but they'll also be pissed that he's not -- and that be did successfully help banish Cena from RAW. And when he does turn, Teddy will have proven to be so crucial to Orton's success that it means something. I think the WWE have to really make Ted DiBiase seem important to Orton before they turn him. If the fans feel that he is holding Orton's fate in his hands (to some degree), they will buy him as more of a threat when he turns. It won't just emotionally be a good thing for the fans wanting to see Orton lose the WWE Title, but it'd also be a practical victory for them. It also clears up RAW a bit, and without Cena or Batista there anymore, it creates a little more room for DiBiase to move up (eventually) as a major player. Hell, if they can find a way to do it, officially move Big Show over to SmackDown!, too, and clean up RAW's main event scene even more. |
So have a main event on Raw of HHH, HBK, Orton, Dibiase?

You also have MVP on the wings. He's lost so much steam since coming to RAW, but I'd like to see him get that potential back. Also, as former ECW Champions and members of Team RAW, I think Jack Swagger and Mark Henry deserve more than to be "mid-carders." Kofi Kingston is also on the rise. |

It might be a bit uninspired, but an MVP heel turn could freshen him up a bit. He could actually get bitter that the fans aren't cheering him, and that Mark Henry is doing better than him. All that crap. |
Could work, but Noid, I gotta ask. Who was the last black World Champ in the WWE? I honestly have no clue. I want to say Atlas, but I'm sure there was someone after that, wasn't there?
|
Rock was half black, after him...um.....
|
Oh yeah Booker
|
Oh yeah!!! I forgot Booker became a 6-time, 6-time, heavyweight champ. Good catch Innovator.
|
I think Ted DiBiase shouldn't turn face for another year. He's still too new to make a big splash.
|
Tony Atlas never held the World Title.

Tony Atlas was the first black WWF tag team champion (along with Rocky Johnson)

From wiki:
A double turn occurred at Survivor Series, when The Rock defeated the then-villain Mankind in the finals of the "Deadly Game" tournament[40] for the vacant WWF Championship,[41] to become the first world heavyweight champion of African American descent in WWF history and the youngest WWF Champion at the time. This always bugged me. I mean, how is The Rock of African American descent exactly? |

As he doesnt have a match this Sunday , I'm expecting him to either cost Orton the match, or else taking a punt to the head as filming for the Marine 2 is right around the corner.
Maybe even John Cena cutting a promo about DiBiase or speakin to him backstage or something on sunday? Either way, I reckon DiBiase will be involved in the main event storyline of some sort this Sunday. And I predict he'll be the Rumble winner. What better way to sell DVDS than have your main character win the rumble and go to mania. |
The Marine 2 has already been filmed
|
current release date is 12/29/09
|
Filming is around the corner and the release date is in less than two months?
Some piece of cinematography it will be. |
Oh, fuck.
Didn't read Jayman's previous post. |
it will be epic
|
I haven't seen the first Marine.
Do you think it's good for watching shitfaced? |
it has enough action and explosions in it so yeah
|
Just wanted to say that I think Randy Orton looks fucking terrible without any hair? I mean WTF I totally wasn't expecting him to be bald!!! Come on grow it out a bit more again!

Randy Orton is looking more like Voldemort every day.
|
Im going to say this again: when DiBiase finally snaps on Orton and pounds the hell out of him, the result should be Orton being happy about it, telling DiBiase that he finally grew some balls, and that he earned Orton's respect. Keep DiBiase heel for a good bit after that, don't turn him until he gains the legitimacy to be a real threat to Orton, instead of turning him too fast the way they did Orton. Seriously, the night that Evolution turned on Orton, HHH's thumb should have stayed up. It should have been the start of months of Orton being paranoid about Evolution, before HHH turned against Orton in a far more sensible way. Among other excellent things, that would have kept Batista out of the title picture for another year at least.
|
I don't really care about DiBiase's turn. Haven't seen enough of him to state my opinion.
But what I do know, is that I'd mark out for Orton's tweener turn. |
I'm really betting WWE screws up this slow burn buildup and turns Ted at Bragging Rights.

it was a light-hearted jab at you, basically calling you gay, for caring about what Randy Orton's hair looks like.
|
Oh, I lol'd for some reason. Even though you called me gay.
:foc: |
Wish they would quit continuously teasing a DiBiase face turn on Orton. They should just make up their minds and move forward. He should have made the full turn this past Monday on RAW
|
god forbid they build storylines slowly and let them naturally progress.
|
They should build a story over Orton being bald. :p

Scenario A: Have Triple H put the thumbs down, and Evolution turn on Orton. The following week, when Triple H asked for the World Heavyweight Title back -- have Orton actually give it to him. The fans were hoping for Orton to kick Triple H's ass, and they would have felt the same sort of tension they felt when they wanted Ted to beat down Orton on RAW. Orton still technically remains a heel, and you could have then had Chris Benoit genuinely upset that Orton treated the World Heavyweight Title like that ("you won it; you should have carried it with pride"). Benoit and Orton could have then had another fantastic match at Unforgiven. Eventually, the slow-build would be there, and Orton wins the 2005 Royal Rumble, and you get a repeat of the Batista/Evolution stuff. I can imagine a cool moment before their match at WrestleMania 21, where Ric Flair tells Orton that he does think he deserves to be the World Heavyweight Champion, or something like that. Orton of course wins his second World Heavyweight Title in the main event of WrestleMania 21. Scenario B: Evolution actually turns on Triple H after Orton wins the World Heavyweight Title, with Flair reminding Triple H that the group was meant to represent "past, present and future." By defeating Chris Benoit when Triple H couldn't, Orton becomes the present, making Triple H redundant. This would have marked a face turn for Triple H, while Orton remained the cocky, up-himself heel. In this scenario, I actually wouldn't have gone with Triple H winning the Royal Rumble to challenge Orton; but rather Batista completes his mission of preventing Triple H from winning the Rumble, and someone from SmackDown! goes on to win. Triple H does, however, earn his title shot at No Way Out or on RAW, and secures his grudge match with Orton over the World Heavyweight Title. Orton would probably be the better choice as a winner of that match, as it would give Orton the rub of being the "new heel" of the WWE, and that allows a guy to step up on SmackDown! and de-throne JBL as WWE Champion in the main event. It just depends on whether you want Orton to be a top babyface or strong villain. |
