how did TNA explain getting rid of the 6 sided ring to the fans?

after they hyped that retarded shit up for years in the past and then Hogan comes in and wants it gone and it's immediately gone.

did they address it on the show and give some sort of kayfabe reason for going back to the normal ring?

screech 03-24-2010 09:24 PM

First pay per view under Hogan/Bischoff. They came out and said the six-sided ring wasn't cutting it so they were going with four sides.

kareru 03-24-2010 09:25 PM

tna: hey we got rid of the six sides

fans: we dont like it

tna: tough

fans: ok we'll get used to it

and that's what happened

The Franchise 03-24-2010 09:25 PM

I am glad Hogan did that. The 6-rided ring was so fucking shitty.

SOCCER LEGS 03-24-2010 09:25 PM

did they do it kayfabe wise? how did the fans react?

screech 03-24-2010 09:26 PM

Fans booed the shit out of them and chanted "We want six sides" all night.

lol

The Franchise 03-24-2010 09:27 PM

Yeah. Impact Zone fans are pretty terrible

screech 03-24-2010 09:28 PM

That led to TNA telling their fans how to behave, referring to them as "cast members."

kareru 03-24-2010 09:28 PM

its one of the pitfalls when you have a smark fanbase

screech 03-24-2010 09:30 PM

Running out of the same building with that same fanbase isn't helping.

The Franchise 03-24-2010 09:31 PM

I have seen like four episodes of Impact since 2006 (all being the Monday Night War ones) but I remember the Impact Zone fans being so retarded. They would cheer everyone. Faces and heels. They were hurting the product with their nonsense, people couldn't get over as a good guy or a bad guy and it just hurt storylines. I bet a new fan (especially one who was solely a WWE watcher) would be like this is ridiculous.

i'd love to go to a show at their warehouse think and boo the shit out of all the smark favorites and try to start chants for WWE wrestlers.

It really is. The line between face and heel is very blurred, if it's there at all.

If AJ wasn't with Flair, they'd be cheering him for setting cats on fire and throwing them at senior citizens.

The Franchise 03-24-2010 09:34 PM

Yeah, probably. A smarky or rebellious crowd is fun every now and then but they are literally killing the very foundation of a professional wrestling storyline -- heel vs face.

Tenay: OMG Abyss just shot AJ Styles and Ric Flair!

Crowd: Holy shit! Holy shit!

Tenay: Now Abyss is opening fire on the crowd!

Crowd: This is awesome! (clap clap clapclapclap) This is awesome!

Lock Jaw 03-24-2010 09:41 PM

Yeah. Taz is always like "The crowd here firmly behind ____" while the crowd is having the dueling chants going.

screech 03-24-2010 09:43 PM

The crowd always has dueling chants.

kareru 03-24-2010 09:44 PM

dueling chants were a thing of beauty back in the day

They were just happy to be there I guess.

You never go wrong with picking fights with individual crowd members. Humiliating someone on national television goes a long way towards making you a believable heel.

Indeed. Dueling chants such as the ones that ocurred during Rock v. Hogan at Mania X8 were epic. I also enjoyed the strange mix of heavy heat and pops that Cena would draw at once, probably around what, '06 or '07?
