Possible *SPOILER* New SES Member?

From Melina's Twitter:

RealMelina RT @divadirt: "Mercury just returned during Rey/Punk match!" --I'M SO HAPPY HE IS BACK. HE IS LIKE A BROTHER TO ME. I LOVE HIM.

Follow ups (Covering her ass?):
HA HA HA. I am not even watching the PPV and you guys tweeted he was back and i thought it was true! what happened?!!!!!

Not watching the PPV is no fun. My sugar high crashed from not being able to watch :( about 3 hours ago via TweetDeck

The Gold Standard 04-26-2010 12:24 AM

I like how she tried to cover it up.

Like she would believe fans' Twitter pages.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-26-2010 12:32 AM

She loves him like a brother, but she had no clue he was coming back until she read Twitter. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Juan 04-26-2010 01:29 AM

Yeah I think when the report came out that he had re-signed, it said something about him joining Punk's stable. Pretty excited to see how this plays out

Mr. Nerfect 04-26-2010 01:39 AM

I didn't see the PPV, but I assumed it was Joey Mercury when I read it. I am glad he is back. When they were together, Mercury was always the better half of MNM, in my opinion. Both in the ring and on the mic. I would love to see this lead to Rey Mysterio & John Morrison vs. CM Punk & Joey Mercury.

Splaya 04-26-2010 01:53 AM

if it was in fact Mercury, I am stoked. I hope they don't even wait to play this out, just bring him out tommorow night on RAW

Mr. Nerfect 04-26-2010 01:56 AM

Joey Mercury vs. Rey Mysterio on RAW tomorrow, I hope.

Rammsteinmad 04-26-2010 01:56 AM

Yeah I agree with Splaya. To let this play out, only for it to end up being Mercury will probably be a bit of a let down, no offence to Mercury.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-26-2010 02:11 AM

I swear it was 2 different guys on the replay, but glad Joey's one of them.

Lock Jaw 04-26-2010 02:14 AM

One of them was Eric Angle.

Xero 04-26-2010 02:16 AM

lol

I dunno. I will let him talk first. With CM Punk's promo abilities there to back him up, I could see some good stuff being said about Mercury's real life problems that he had to overcome. And although Mercury did not do much (if anything) as a singles force in the WWE -- John Morrison and he have history to the point where Mercury could be put over instantly as being on a comparable level to him.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-26-2010 04:47 AM

I really doubt most fans even remember what MNM is let alone give a shit about them. They know Miz and Morrison, and WWE barely played them up after they split.

You have a point, but I still think they'll bring it up. If they don't, then he shouldn't even go by Joey Mercury and just start as a new character.

Agreed. But by ignoring his past as "Joey Mercury," you lose the potential gold mine that was his release due to drug issues.

I'm hopeful that this run for Mercury goes well, if just because of all the releases recently, and even Lance Cade's release not too long ago (who was in a very similar situation to Mercury on the sidelines), could at least be taken to mean there is someone high on the guy's work, or some creative plan for him.

They also put a title on him in his WWE debut, too. Even though it was the Tag Team Championship, that's not something they usually do with guys. In fact, I think every single person who has ever won a WWE title in their debut match is still with the company. From recent memory, anyway:

Christian - Light Heavyweight Title
Gail Kim - Women's Title
Carlito - United States Title
Joey Mercury - WWE Tag Team Titles
Santino Marella - Intercontinental Title
Ted DiBiase - World Tag Team Titles

I might be missing some. Just an interesting piece of trivia, if true, though.

Supreme Olajuwon 04-26-2010 07:36 AM

Jerry F'N Lynn won the Light Heavyweight title in his WWF debut but he made a name for himself before then.

Theo Dious 04-26-2010 07:47 AM

Jerry Lynn also sucks ass.

DAMN iNATOR 04-26-2010 07:53 AM

Would be interesting if it actually was Mercury to see how things play out for the S.E.S. from here.

I must disagree with this.

kareru 04-26-2010 09:38 AM

there is only one way to tell if it was mercury.

did he freak out at the sight of a ladder?

The Destroyer 04-26-2010 09:43 AM

Would be quite appropriate considering Mercury's own problems with drugs and alcohol in the past.

Swiss Ultimate 04-26-2010 11:57 AM

I wonder if it's a good idea to kayfabe reform guys as "straight-edge" with the chances of them falling off the wagon.

Either way, another body in the SES. Good.

Wolfpack423 04-26-2010 01:29 PM

To be honest, they could have just called up Low-Ki/Senshi/Kaval instead. it would have been better as I have never been a Joey Mercury fan, much like I am not a fan of Luke Gallows.

Swiss Ultimate 04-26-2010 01:48 PM

I don't see Low-Ki as anything but a cruiser-weight monster (mini-Taz).

Mercury fits better in SES in my opinion.

Yeah, but if they do, that's more ammo for Punk. Granted, not a fan of exploiting someone's personal problems, but look at what the Hardy feud did for Punk in the first place.

Swiss Ultimate 04-26-2010 02:06 PM

Or what Edge's dickery did (shortly) for Matt Hardy a while back.

Innovator 04-26-2010 02:09 PM

I'm all for Matthews being back. Punk got him help and helped get him his job back.
