Eugene: Based on A True Story??

taken from 1wrestling.com (and a few other sites):

John Powell, writing for Slam! Wrestling, is reporting that the
new Nick Dinsmore character in the WWE - "Eugene", may be
patterned after a real "mentally challenged" boy who attended
WWE events in the Northeast.

Powell's source is a former WWE employee who said the real
Eugene was ridiculed behind his back by some WWE employees
at the time.

The introduction of the "Eugene" character has sparked outrage
among some fans who believe the portrayal to be insensitive and
inappropriate

If that is true, that is god awful on the part of those who came up with the angle. :n:

Anyone expect the raw ratings to go up next week? Don't think so somehow...

Corkscrewed 04-16-2004 12:55 AM

He should go to Bubba Rae's School of How to Stop Being a Retard.

Which basically means that the angle is atrocious, and Dinsmore could be much better suited as a regular wrestler without any gimmick, frankly. That's how bad it is.

El Santo 04-16-2004 01:54 PM

I'm not the biggest fan of Eugene's character, but I'd heard that it was patterned from a similar character from "There's Something About Mary."

Oxstar 04-16-2004 03:54 PM

I was shocked about seein zack gowen wrestle! but usin Eugene seems to be wrong!

EazyMack 04-16-2004 08:22 PM

So he's not really Bischoff's nephew?

:D

LOL

Savio 04-17-2004 12:46 AM

I bet some one who was upset with that angle came up with that rumor.

KayfabeMan 04-17-2004 03:22 AM

It (the 'rumor') is probably true. WWE "creative" can't even come up with anything for Rey Mysterio Jr.,how the **** were they supposed to come up with something for Nick Dinsmore?? Besides, what better way to get a gimmick/angle than to mock an actual mentally handicapped person?? :n:

Draven 04-17-2004 10:01 AM

Thats just plain out freaken sick.

Fox 04-17-2004 02:07 PM

This whole Eugene thing might be the final straw that makes me stop watching RAW.

thuganomicalcrippler 04-18-2004 01:58 PM

Why would the WWE employees mock a mentally challenged boy? Thats horrible.

Savio 04-19-2004 09:19 PM

- Following up on the origins of the Eugene name, it was apparently the name of a person who worked the shows at Pittsburgh’s Civic Arena shows in the past carrying ring jackets.

If you really want to get rid of Eugene because it is a truly horrible character you need to do research. What you need to do is prove that having a retarded character which is made fun of is a Hate Crime and the WWE will have to get rid of him.
