Admit it- bad angles or wrestlers you liked
I thought I'd try my hand at asking a question for some fun conversation. I'm still some what new, so I apologize if this is repetitive.
Any wrestler you were embarrassed to call your favorite? Any angles that were awful, but you liked them anyway? I loved the goofy Stone Cold Steve Austin. The singing and dancing and hugging was hilarious. I think a lot of people were very against this type of Stone Cold, but I loved it. |
I thought the goofy end to the Mae Young / Mark Henry angle was dumb but hilarious. When I was watching I said "where the hell are they gonna go with this...?" and then she gave birth to a hand. lol. ridiculous.
Personally, I was a HUGE Alex Wright mark back in the day. In school, I liked SCSA, Rock, HBK, etc, but I was just as big an Alex Wright, Norman Smiley and Disco Inferno mark. hell, I liked Wrath, Glacier, and La Parka like crazy too |
I liked the 'Crash Holly weighs 400 pounds' stuff and Eugene's musical chair game.
In terms of wrestlers, Buff Bagwell, Crowbar and Prince Iaukuea |
i always enjoyed public enemy, in every promotion and my friends always made fun of me for it
|
Jonathan Coachman at a time when no one liked him, I liked.
|
Dungeon of Doom. loved the whole angle
|
The Goon
|
I always enjoyed Billy Kidman, X-Pac, Disco Inferno, La Parka & Nathan Jones....

Crazy Bob Backlund

I thought the Katie Vick angle was hilarious.

Fine I'll admit it, the whole "Moppy" thing kind of grew on me.

and when Perry Saturn ordered a plate of crayons as an appetizer for dinner, following the order up with "the green ones are for fiber."

And Glacier was cool to watch at the beginning cause the arena would keep that blue haze as he would do all that martial arts stuff and win. |
I have to say Too Cool and Rikishi dancing is still great.
|
I love the whole JR is RAW thing. when he set up his own announce table and the whole Oklahoma thing from WCW.

I was a big fan of the hardcore title in WWE, all the way up to the bitter end. Gotta say I've been loving Orlando Jordan's new gimmick so far. Also Ernest "the Cat" Miller was my absolute favorite wrestler back in the day. |
i forgot about the cat
i was at a nitro once when a fan jumped in and attacked him, the stuff he said as security dragged him away was awesome |
One of my fondest memories of WCW was when The Cat was the GM, and having to constantly defend himself against backstage ninja attacks from the Asian guys(can't think of their names) every week.
Oh yeah I'm a big fan of Jeff Jarrett. Thought he was amazing back in WCW, during the whole slapnuts, thunder thighs, and hippo hips phase. |

I can honestly say that I marked for Naked Mideon
|
And I thought Norman Smiley was awesome... And who was that uber gay blonde guy in WCW... ALEX WRIGHT... Yeah I didn't like him though...Stupid Jacket...
|
Disco Inferno though I'd argue that a) He's not a bad wrestler and that b) His gimmick was perfect, he was a guy who could win matches who could be a contender but he lacks the focus, hence he'd start to dance, it was great he''d piss off the crowd, lose a shit ton but when he won it wasn't like an OMG Barry Horowitz wins sort of thing, he always had a little bit of credibility despite being at times a glorified jobber. Fuck this guy pinned Wrath near the peek of Wrath's monster image, and all it took was a little bit of a distraction from Scott Hall, not even direct interference it was great,
Now in terms of angles I'd say Disco's nwo run, it was hillarious and awesome, but I'm probably the only one who thought so |
Eugene. Yeah but it was funny how he was booked. Then when Angle beat his ass at Summerslam, it was worth watching him.

The Oddities
I'd always made sure to watch WCW Saturday Night (oddly it came on at 10am), Shotgun Saturday Night, and Sunday Night Heat. Watching the Jobbers try just as hard as a Main Eventer, helped gave me a new understanding of the Business. Plus it was kind of cool watching guys work from the bottom up. JBL and The Hardys come to mind. |
Current John Cena

The KISS Demon

The Shockmaster

Goldberg vs. Evolution

Chaz, mainly because of his bizarro theme music. I was a mark for Raven's Flock even though most of them were awful, and the Pepe / Moppy gimmicks were brilliantly done.
