Would you be interested in a 'Fantasy Booking' competition? (SEASON ONE BOOKERS AND JUDGES POSTED)

An idea I had, and there are still some kinks to iron out...but first I want to see if you guys would be interested.

Basically, we'd start with a huge pool of active wrestlers. We'd keep it mainstream (WWE, TNA, and I guess ROH too). The participants would go through a draft, selecting one person at a time until everybody had something like 15-20 workers. You would name your organization, create some titles, form tag teams if you'd like, yadda yadda yadda. From there, you would book a show on paper, using at least a decent amount of detail as to what would happen during matches/segments. Maybe you'd end up booking four TV shows, leading up to a PPV.

From there, people who aren't participating would rank the shows on a scale of 1 to 10, based on how they would enjoy seeing what you booked on television. After we get to the PPV round, all of the average ratings would be tallied (maybe we can even make the PPV count double), and the highest average rating would be named the winner for that 'season'. Then, we would start a season with completely new feds and new bookers. After five seasons or so, we could have an Ultimate Booker Showdown, pitting the five winners against each other in a new season to see who the best of the best really is.

I know this all sounds scatterbrained right now and I'm skipping over a bunch of details, but I think it could be a lot of fun. I'm offering to be the one to keep track of scores and post deadlines and such, but I'm sure I could definitely use some help from some of you guys.

How does this sound to you? Would you be interested in participating? Any suggestions? Let's talk about it. :y:

Schlomey 07-03-2010 01:56 PM

I'm down. I love fantasy shit.

CSL 07-03-2010 01:59 PM

I saw the word 'draft' and became interested. Autoplay needs turning back on for it. Maybe older/dead wrestlers could be used depending how you work it out.

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 02:00 PM

Realistically, I'd probably only run like 5 companies at a time so the that the task doesn't become too daunting. If it catches on, maybe we can do a few more companies for future seasons.

Also, I think Noid should be given a spot in the first season. Just saying.

VSG 07-03-2010 02:13 PM

How long does a season last?

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 02:15 PM

I was thinking four TV shows and a PPV. We could stretch it for a month, or we could book two shows a week to make things go faster.

Nothing is set in stone, here. I'm completely open to suggestions.

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 02:16 PM

I was also thinking about a 'Star Power' bonus for the PPVs, which I'll go into further detail about after I feed this baby.

Jeritron 07-03-2010 02:19 PM

You should have the submitted to a volunteer who would post them to be ranked anonymously.
I say this because the author will probably have an effect on how the booking is recieved and enjoyed.
Noid would get glanced over or criticized for being Noid, and "jobber" posters wouldn't be taken as seriously as a lot of the established posters.
I say this to look out for them, as taker707 or whatever could book a better show than you or I, but TPWW would probably never recognize that if names were on them.

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 02:21 PM

That's a good idea. If people PMed me their shows, I could just post them under the company's name. :y:

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 02:28 PM

OK, about the 'Star Power' bonus....

I would like to have an esteemed team of judges who would comprise a 'weekly' (after each TV show round) Top 10 list for the entire 'universe', based on their performances on shows that are getting the best ratings and whatnot. The criteria will be completely up to the judges, just to add an element of randomness to it. The Top 10 may fluctuate from TV round to TV round, but when it comes time for the PPV round, a company can get bonus points for each Top 10 wrestler they have featured on their card.

The board of judges are a way to get more people 'directly involved' without them actually running a company, and I figure the judges would change each season. Possibly even week to week.

XL 07-03-2010 02:48 PM

This sounds interesting :y:

Evil Vito 07-03-2010 02:51 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Hell yes. In fact, if you head over to the Wrestling Sim topic in the VG forum, I post all the shows I book in my WWE EWR game. Love stuff like this.

http://www.tpww.net/forums/showpost....postcount=2127

There's a sample.</font>

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 02:53 PM

I would also like to factor in random injuries. If every wrestler has a 'number' attached to him/her (1 through whatever the fuck), it'd be easy enough to generate a random number and say that person is injured for a week/two weeks/all season. That factor may work better with a longer season, though.

Loose Cannon 07-03-2010 02:53 PM

yea, seems cool. definately keep it around 5. I don't think there's too many people on here who would be able to do the work consistently. I know I would get bored after Day 1 from all the typing.

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 02:56 PM

Yeah, that's why I want to keep a short season. Honestly, it really wouldn't be TOO much typing.

What do you think would be a good roster size? 10? 15? 20?

Evil Vito 07-03-2010 03:00 PM

<font color=goldenrod>20-25 would be good. That's roughly the number of male wrestlers on a WWE brand.</font>

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 03:04 PM

Yeah...and you obviously wouldn't have to use ALL of them on every show. Companys would have to state their projected segment/match lengths as well, not to exceed two hours on TV, three hours on PPV.

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 03:08 PM

Also, so we wouldn't have to wait for people to post their initial draft picks, each company head could provide a priority list of the wrestlers they would like. When it's the company's draft turn, the highest available on the priority list will go to that roster.

VSG 07-03-2010 03:22 PM

Well I know I don't have the time to enter the competition this "season", so I put forth my name as a possible judge. This should be fun.

Lock Jaw 07-03-2010 03:35 PM

I'd totally do it.

But I laugh at including ROH as "mainstream".

#1-norm-fan 07-03-2010 04:16 PM

Count me in. I haven't done fantasy booking in years. Sounds like fun.

You should be able to draft a tag team in one turn.

#1-norm-fan 07-03-2010 05:14 PM

I don't know about that. There would be a lot of problems as far as "What constitutes a tag team". It would be much easier to just spend two picks on people and try to form your own tag teams or try to draft established ones if you can.

Then again I guess it MIGHT work if you specify who is together early on. Hart Dynasty counts as one, Usos count as one, Beer Money, etc. But the problem I see with mot teams outside, say, The Usos is that maybe I wanna use D.H. Smith and have no need for Tyson Kidd. Then what? I HAVE to draft both?

Swiss Ultimate 07-03-2010 05:16 PM

Briscoes, American Wolves, Dudleys, WGTT etc...obviously they'd have to be current so someone couldn't get around the system and take Edge and Christian.

Flash Funk 07-03-2010 05:19 PM

I would love to contribute in any way..I know I am new so if I cannot be an actual participant, I will judge or whatever else needs to be done.

RiX1024 07-03-2010 05:27 PM

sounds awesome, i'll defo judge if booking is solid.

Swiss Ultimate 07-03-2010 05:30 PM

I think we should make a rule that nobody can turn John Cena heel.

RiX1024 07-03-2010 05:33 PM

dang there goes my plan.

Majunior 07-03-2010 05:41 PM

I know I'm a new poster (long time site follower, but new to the forums), but if there's an opening I would enjoy getting involved in this as well. I'd like to book, but if that's full I can judge instead.

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 06:39 PM

Nothing's full yet. I'd love to give some newer guys a spot. Now that I know there's interest, I'll start the wheels forward. Trying to decide the most fair way to pick the first season of bookers, though. Numbers from a hat?

Anybody Thrilla 07-03-2010 06:40 PM

I might take ROH out of it with so few bookers.

CSL 07-03-2010 06:41 PM

Posters from english cities beginning with 'W' should probably get priority.

The Pope 07-03-2010 09:19 PM

Speaking of weird things, where can i get the newest EWR thingy?

BizarroKing 07-03-2010 10:14 PM

Think I could be a part of this? I saw this and it's one of the reasons I joined. Repeat: ONE of the reasons, not THE reason.

Destor 07-03-2010 10:35 PM

I wanna be a judge!

Destor 07-03-2010 10:43 PM

(also roh should exist in this. think of the roh roster as bringing someone up from a farming system. you get em to the stage and amke em somebody...just my opinion.)

Lock Jaw 07-03-2010 10:53 PM

I don't think ROH should be included.

1) Not everybody knows and is familiar with the talent in ROH.

2) Those that are aware have a good chance of going "OMGGGG ROH GUYS, THIS ONE WINS"

Destor 07-03-2010 11:11 PM

its all about how they book em, not who theyre booking. you can book a great worker to be shit and shit worker to be great. and as booker its their job to make you care about their wrestlers, if anything less known guys present a greater challenge. if someone wants to take that on why not? isnt that the concept? like, this is a book off, yeah?

(ps-i dont think roh should be punished because it doesnt have a show on basic cable. their top workers are known by least at name by practially all of tpww. and in all reality any could be pulled up to TNA/wwe at any momoment. if someone wants and roh guy i dont see why they shouldnt be allowed to have em.)

Flash Funk 07-03-2010 11:12 PM

If including ROH and recent past guys ( I am talking like DDP or Malenko, not Gorgeous George) then we would be able to have more bookers...just a thought

CSL 07-03-2010 11:16 PM

'Too many cooks' and all that. Go small first and if it's 'successful' then more. IMO.
